Whoever had the idea for this bit is just genius! It is so simple, a little stupid, but amazingly effective. Bringing creative people in a somewhat uncomfortable situation like that consistently leads to amazing moments and much more genuine reactions, answers and emotions. I'm genuinely fascinated.
Wolfram Stahl I think it may be inspired by Craig Ferguson's famous "awkward pause" when he hosted the Late Late Show. This is very different, but could be an extension from Craig's idea. I am just guessing. It is a great idea.
This is beautiful and pure. You know how you type that you're laughing but you really are only laughing inside? This definitely made me laugh with a lingering smile. Hope you had a good laugh as well.
to think "nice is weak" is a big problem in our time... to allow your heart to be compassionate takes BALLS! Because it f*ing hurts! It's so much easier and WEAKER to give into hate (-< nationalism, racism, tribalism, ...)
In a world of aggression, nice is weak. It takes BALLS! It is courageous to open with 'nice'. It is the cowardly and the weak minded that use aggression unilaterally, to avoid any compromise. "Win at all costs" is U.S. policy, and it uses force and psyops to that end, regardless of the cost. Usually millions of lives!
Using "balls" as a euphemism for courage or strength is sexist..tbh. nobody needs testicals or toxic masculinity to be assertive, strong, or courageous. And to be honest, if Americans think our polite demeanor is weak, then we have the upperhand; because they wont know what's coming, when they push our generousity too far.
I am in love with these segments lol. So simple yet so hilarious. This segment is one of the few parts of any show I am guaranteed to uncontrollably laugh out loud at least twice at. The Tom Hanks one was pure uncut gold.
Colbert is a comedian, and brilliant, and caring, and just. He is a beautiful spirit in the hunt for the truth camouflaged in humour to help the medicine go down. I truly love this man and his spirit.
The honesty that we're scared of Americans though. That's for real. Not like we're scared of their power. We're scared that they're truly irrational, cruel, and selfish, and that these things make their power dangerous. And that's not a form of power I think anyone in their right mind would want to have because it inspires fear but no respect. That's what it is, and it's maybe silly and definitely just a generalization of course. Some of the greatest individuals, ideas, and contributions to the world have been American. It's just also a feeling we sometimes can't help having, these days especially. We most definitely want America to become better and to be worthy of its power, and we're rooting for it always.
We're scared that some day America might go full "Handmaid's Tale" for real, and we wouldn't be able to resist them because no other nation would go to war with the US to defend Canada. That's why Canadians have been trying to influence American affairs for longer than our country has existed. Nearly 40 000 Canadians fought in the American Civil War (including the man who composed our national anthem), and pretty much all on the Union side.
Same thing here in Brazil, but at least we've got a bunch of countries acting as a buffer to the world's top small-d*** loonies - unlike Canada and Mexico. Russia technically also has a border, but since they can be just as irrational, I doubt they're scared. Since the insanity has spread everywhere by now though, I think we can all agree we're really scared about the whole thing. And just to be safe, I don't mean to say all Americans and Russians are irrational. Most of them, as brilliant as they often are, are just cowards who won't fight back against the racists and fascists on their midst. I know because I'm on the coward side over here. Too tired to fight back against widespread idiocy and bigotry.
I don't know, I feel, Colbert poison of choice is bourbon 😉 😀😁 but we do know, he hit some when he was a teenager 😉 but that would require Waffle house nearby 😉😁😁😁
WOOOOUUUUW this is what world leaders should do some time.👏👏👏 "Are you high right now?" A few seconds later "💨 Oh I'm ugh-kugh sorry" Hahahahahahaha 😂 👌👍👏✌
"i'll see you.. in court" is the only way i can hear that phrase completed, i just can't picture anything else fitting in. this segment is magnificent by the way, i wish so much that this could be spmething of a comeback, even in a slightly different post covid manner if necessary, and it would also be super interesting if there were maybe more than two people? or if the two were coworkers or strangers and so on
So gloriously uncomfortable. Making guests uncomfortable for the laugh is part of what made Stephen great. You don't see it as much as you used to when he was his character.
I just appreciate that people might have something funny like this to think about while they're like, stuck in an elevator, or trapped because of an earthquake.. it's a niche, often overlooked. Good job, Stephen

dude chill out. It's just 2 dudes in a box
Wolfram Stahl
Trump is a creepy baby snatcher.
Not only that, but it's just pure, awkward, warm human interaction and I will never get enough of that
"Uncomfortably Close with Stephen Colbert"
This was strangely(and hilariously) wholesome.
ikr
'If this isn't on camera, it's really not worth it.'
This is why I love Colbert. He makes something simple yet genius. :D
This has to be my favorite interview method ever. Keep this going.
This is beautiful and pure. You know how you type that you're laughing but you really are only laughing inside? This definitely made me laugh with a lingering smile. Hope you had a good laugh as well.
They shared a Twizzler in the Personal Space box so that means they'll be best friends forever.
Actually, I think they may now be betrothed to one another.
I doubt that two artists at the top of their craft would sink so low as to eat a Twizzler. Must be a glorious RedVine.
I love how Seth doesn't question the licorice in ANY way. He's just immediately on board. I would love to hang out with this man.
I love the personal space. It's so awkward you can't help but be genuine in it.
Seth Rogan is so down to earth and genuine - a perfect "guest" to have in Colbert's brilliant "personal space" series.
I so wanted to know if there were pre breath mints involved or if they just raw breathed it.
OMG, this 'inside the box' talking is freaking hilarious. With the beard, Seth looks like a Rabbi on the go.
Seth Rogen has just that perfect kind energy all the time. He's got really good vibes. #FriendGoal
The show has reached peak homoerotism with this segment and I'm here for it
Stephen did write ‘The Ambiguously Gay Duo”
oh how wrong you are :D

Dang Le You're right, Andrew's visits are hard to top
Dang Le - Thanks for sharing that. Had no idea! Andrew has some good bragging rights.
I didn't think it could get any gayer than just having their heads in the box together. Then it did.
Seth Rogen is such a great guy, always happy to be around, I love all of his movies!
6 full minutes in that positions 😱😱 thank you for your service gentlemen 🙏 bravo! 👏 👏
to think "nice is weak" is a big problem in our time... to allow your heart to be compassionate takes BALLS! Because it f*ing hurts! It's so much easier and WEAKER to give into hate (-< nationalism, racism, tribalism, ...)
Chill Sista!
Definitely agree!

Well said, Klara!

This was hillarious
1 l
that was wholesome 😊
NEXT ONE WITH JON STEWART!!
Fall! Out Piløts 😱😱😱😱 how we STILL NOT HAVE IT??? It's a crime against humanity!
I am in love with these segments lol. So simple yet so hilarious. This segment is one of the few parts of any show I am guaranteed to uncontrollably laugh out loud at least twice at. The Tom Hanks one was pure uncut gold.
Colbert is beautiful.
I am 99% sure Colbert is bisexual.
Everything about him is beautiful
Colbert is a comedian, and brilliant, and caring, and just. He is a beautiful spirit in the hunt for the truth camouflaged in humour to help the medicine go down. I truly love this man and his spirit.
He does look like a snacc
so is potatoe
Damn, I needed this today. I laughed so hard and loud that my stomach is hurting and my family told me to be quiet. Thank you, Seth and Stephen.

Yeah. Most Americans are decent folks. The worrisome thing is the cocksure fuckwits who want to have access to the immense power.
I'm American and Americans scare me. The collective ignorance of a large section of this populace should worry anyone.
A little over half of Americans are scared of America at this point. I think that is why the Canadian server for immigration crashed in Nov 2016....
Same thing here in Brazil, but at least we've got a bunch of countries acting as a buffer to the world's top small-d*** loonies - unlike Canada and Mexico. you gotta love Seth man he is down to earth...
This was genuinely good and amusing. In a great way. Funny honest & just real. I like both these guys.
I'd stick my head anywhere Stephen asked me to.
ANYWHERE.
How about up your own ass?
Same.
Amen!
@@SidPhoenix2211 I would damn well try
That was kinda sweet
You're kinda sweet.
I actually do sometimes laugh out loud watching the Late Show, but never as hearty and neighbor-irritatey as when Seth said: 4:23
This was super awkward, but in a good wholesome funny way!
wtf. these dude need their own show. One condition: they both have to be stoned B)
Colbert stoned? I have to see that. :D
I don't know, I feel, Colbert poison of choice is bourbon 😉 😀😁 but we do know, he hit some when he was a teenager 😉 but that would require Waffle house nearby 😉😁😁😁
Smoke some hash and drink some booze boy's , lets get fuked up tonight!
This bit is genius & fresh. Absolute gold.
Colbert loves giving his male guests some smooches and I am HERE for it! What a stud
I think Seth Rogan is one of my favorite people, along with Stephen Colbert.
Aaaaand that's another guest on the Stephen Colbert kiss list
Still laughing! This is the funniest thing I've seen for a very long time!! Thank you Colbert and Seth!!
Dying 🤣. Fucking hilarious!
Stephen has such beautiful chocolate brown eyes.
“Just for candles. I like candles.” 😂
This is one of the BEST!!!! Seth was fabulous!!
Man, Colbert just revels in the awkwardness.
WOOOOUUUUW this is what world leaders should do some time.👏👏👏
"Are you high right now?" A few seconds later "💨 Oh I'm ugh-kugh sorry" Hahahahahahaha 😂 👌👍👏✌
I'm pretty sure Stephen held his breath until the smoke cleared lol
These guys are awesome
Have a good day :)
Vipey1 Thanks :) I think I will lol
No sir, you are awesome!
U2 sweety
I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard for a while, I hope all guests do a box 📦 interview 😂😂😂😂😂😂
They are now bonded for life!
The level of intimacy that Stephen gets with any guest in Personal Space is so worth it, as evidenced in this example.
This segment always makes me laugh out loud wherever I watch it! Thank you to whoever invented this! It's awesome!!! 😂👍
Thank you Canada!! 😘😘😘
Omg. Can't stop laughing at end of the Clip...lol.
Kiss, kiss, KISS!!!!
They basically DID :O
Kidlike101 Kathy Geiss!
How vulnerable. I TEND TO Project. :) LOL...this is a great segment.
Stephen Colbert should make a movie with this guy
This was legendary!!
Remember before Covid when you could do stuff like this.
Personal space is such an honor
Eat your heart out, Paul Ryan!
seth looks like action bronson in the box
And-a-one, personal space. Two, personal space. Three, personal space.
"i'll see you.. in court" is the only way i can hear that phrase completed, i just can't picture anything else fitting in.
this segment is magnificent by the way, i wish so much that this could be spmething of a comeback, even in a slightly different post covid manner if necessary, and it would also be super interesting if there were maybe more than two people? or if the two were coworkers or strangers and so on
Thank you for this, Steve and Seth.
So caught off guard. lol wow! You guys are really amazing people.
I'm so glad they kept this bit alive. Johnny Carson would have loved it.
So much comedy gold out of so much awkwardness...
If you watch closely Steven eats the piece of liquorice with Seth's spit on it when it breaks, that's dedicated comedy lol
You’d never catch me doing that.
funniest interview idea i've seen in a long time
This bit is always hilarious lol
This just made me so happy 😂😂😂
SURPRISE HOTBOX!
I love Seth. "According to science, you probably are too now a little bit." LMAOOOO
Two guys one box.
So gloriously uncomfortable. Making guests uncomfortable for the laugh is part of what made Stephen great. You don't see it as much as you used to when he was his character.
These Personal Space segments are hard to watch for a claustrophobic person with Asperger, but it's impossible not to keep watching.
OMG!! Hilarious!!!!! Love these two!
Freak in the streets and geek in the sheets! LMAO!
I love the moment in these videos when the celebrities suddenly get awkward in the box.
Seth is ridiculous and I'm here for it.
This was legit hysterical good lord 😂😂
:) :) :) nice bit. great idea. and the best possible participant in seth rogen. how can you not love the dude.
I’m loving that man love that’s so cute 😂
1:30
Seth - Ya know I have a lot of candles, I love candles....
omg stephen trying to kiss his personal space guest AGAIN
This is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while
I just appreciate that people might have something funny like this to think about while they're like, stuck in an elevator, or trapped because of an earthquake.. it's a niche, often overlooked. Good job, Stephen
It’s amazing what putting yourself in a box can do...
😂😂😂 This was amazing
Probably the weirdest thing I have ever seen this week LOL hilarious
Enjoyed it 👍🏻
Two funniest men as of today.
This a fanfiction on tv.
Please, keep that segment going. It's the best.
Seth was the best person to do this with
this went on for SO fucking long of my god i love it
When Stephen said ‘hot boxing’ I didn’t realize it’d be a Personal Space hot boxing lol
Colbert dominating the box
When Colbert met Rogen... the XXX version!
This ought to be a reoccurring thing.
That looks insanely FUN!
Super hilarious, was laughing the whole time.
Trust Stephen to think out of the box’ class - we need him in the uk
thats the best ive seen probably, really cool guy!
These guys get it.
I fucking love these two
