Back then when he was 16-20 I thought he was the Justin Beiber of skateboarding. Now that he has gotten older and fought back from the hells of addiction I don’t think that anymore. He’s a solid dude and is still doing it!

I have to imagine that 99% of skaters would take the same deal if they could and the ones who did turn it down are now or soon regretting it. Especially when they see other pro athletes and public figures making sometimes hundreds of millions doing the same thing and that it doesn't mean you love skateboarding any less.

Ryan seems like one of the coolest and most humble dudes ever for the massive amount of success and fame he had from an early age. He even seemed that way when he was younger and on MTV even though he obviously thinks he was arrogant. Dude is all around bad ass and has an incredible head on his shoulders after all he went through. Truly admire and commend him. 🙌💪

Skaters that hate on pros for taking big deals are literally delusional. At the end of the day, it’s a job, and the main purpose of a job is to provide you and your family with a wage. So clowning on pros for doing something the provides them with big (sometimes life changing) amounts of money is ridiculous. Obvs if they’re making deals with shitty companies I can understand the hate. Honestly I would say you’re a fool if you turn down the deals that some skaters get offered and you definitely 100% would categorically not be a fool to say yes to something that is going to improve your quality of life, whether it be for a month of for the rest of your life.
They’re loser gatekeepers who are still living in their mom’s couch or rooming with 5 other skaters because they make 20,000k a year skateboarding. They are all about being nonconformist and rule breaking despite having a million rules to be in the in crowd. Plus they were full grown adults hating on a 16 year old for getting aHUGE bag that let him skate as a career for the rest of his life and never have to worry about money again. Fuck that

I work as a voiceover artist/tv commercial actor and lemme tell you, a million bucks is unheard of. I had an audition for a cell phone company a couple of years back and a bunch of sponsored skaters from Prague where I live were there. I think maximum pay was like 20-40 thousand czech crowns, which is on average about $1400. I’m glad Ryan secured the bag haha.
I am certain that at one point one of the big sports companies like Nike or Adidas reached out to make Ryan an offer at some point, and he turned it down because he’s always been on Etnies. I have the utmost respect for Ryan

Sheck got so much hate when he was younger, sometimes justified, sometimes not, but that was all due to his attitude and how he presented himself. I never understood anyone who would call him a poser though, because no poser is hucking themselves off of the huge gaps and drops that he did. Glad to see what he's become as he's grown up and matured.

When I was a kid still skating in like 03-07 everyone I knew hated Sheckler because he was a little kid making everyone look bad at xgames lol. But he probably the gnarliest skater always doing something nuts.. love him.

Only a few of the “true core” skaters didn’t. And those sorts of guys claimed that he was to main stream and that people who liked him were more or less posers and not true skaters.....even tho I’m still here, Ryan’s still here. And the “core” guys ain’t. (So who was the real poser? And who was really the “core” skater? 🤔)
Back then people like that said that they were skate or die, true to the bone. And “true skaters” ...and now those same guys are claiming they grew up and matured.
And now they act like somehow that’s how they are better than guys like me who still do. (🤔 again, so who was the “true skateboarder” and who was the “poser”?)
in their head there is always a reason that they will be better than me. However they always want to use somebody else as an example of why they are better.
Guys like that never learned how to stand and shine on their own. People like that always want to use somebody else as a steppingstone, or as a comparison to show how much they shine in comparison.
You don’t have to like every skater. As well as you don’t have to like every skate company. (Or retail shop) but that doesn’t mean that you should ignore or ridicule their existence.
At one time it was all about slamming a professional skater you didn’t like. And these days it’s about slamming a manufacturer or retail shop you don’t like.
it’s OK to personally and doors or back up a person or a company. But honestly.... only posers are jumping on the bandwagon of popular opinion. Especially popular opinions about what’s too main stream or anti-core.
And only the true course skateboarders don’t care what equipment that you ride, or which professionals inspire you. A true chorus skateboarder only cares that you’re out there and advancing your own personal skills....period

I don't think so, at his biggest he was making 200k an episode. 1 mil for a commercial is not unheard of, especially someone like him and a company like axe. Think of it this way. To y hawk made 3 million off his namesake alone from the games. Before they even released. They pay big names.
