Hi! I’m new to your channel after searching “how to choose a maid of honor.” I don’t know who I want as my MOH. I have 7 women that i’m considering to be my bridesmaids. The contenders for MOH are my only sister and my cousin. My sister is a year younger than me and just made me an auntie but we barely talk, I try to call her but she barely picks up the phone. We’ve lived in different states since we were teenagers. I’ve visited her often but she’s never visited me. She doesn’t call me. But she is my only sister and I think it would be weird not to let her be my MOH.
My cousin on the other hand is about 4 years younger than me. We talk a couple times a month, if not more. She checks up on me and I was considered her roll model growing up. She doesn’t know me like the back of her hand but our relationship is decently strong.
I love both of these women equally but it’s hard to choose. Should I choose my one and only sister or choose the supportive cousin…?

I think that at the end of the day, you should choose the person that will respect you and put you first through every step of the way in your wedding planning season. It sounds to me like that may be your cousin. Even if your sister may know you on a "deeper level" than your cousin, it also sounds like she may not be the most reliable person. Trust your gut, and don't fear the emotions that may come from whoever you "demote" to just being a bridesmaid. You are only responsible for your choice, NOT their reaction to it.
