Hello friends, Asun Ma greets you, today I am going to show you a new cardboard house, and I am going to tell you, The sad story of the "island of the dolls"
It is no news that Mexico is a tourist destination for thousands of people each year. Its beaches with crystalline waters, or the ruins that the Mayan Empire left behind, anchored for History, are more than known. However, among all these wonders, there is an area known as Xochimilco, formed by almost 200 kilometers of navigable channels and nature, just 20 kilometers south of Mexico City.
There, among the many small islands that there are, there is a special one, an island that stands out for its macabre history and, especially, for its terrifying landscape. The place receives the name of "Island of the dolls" and, as its name indicates, it is full of dolls that give goose bumps to anyone who approaches. In the center of the island we find a small house, inhabited at the time by a single person, Don Julián, who lived in the place for more than 25 years.
Unfortunately, the man died in 2001, so the house was left empty, leaving a ghostly scene, with hundreds of dolls, many of them dismembered, inside the house and hanging from the vegetation in the area.
The legend of the island says that in the 50s, when Don Julián was alive, a girl drowned in one of the channels that crosses the island when she became entangled among the lilies on the shore. The man, who was in charge of taking care of the original island, in total solitude, could do nothing to save it. It is said then that shortly after what happened, the ghost of the girl appeared in Don Julian's dreams, at the same time, he began to hear screams and cries in the surroundings of the island, supposedly produced by the girl, who was looking for torment the protector of the island.
However, what most impacted Don Julian was the appearance of a doll in the water, shortly after the girl died, which was said to be the drowned girl. Fearing the girl's ghost and saddened by not having been able to save her, Don Julián thought to protect her house with dolls of all types and sizes, which would function as her guardians.

He began collecting abandoned dolls, which he decided to hang around his house. In his chinampa he collected dolls from the garbage in the Cuemanco canals, he said they were there to drive away evil spirits and obtain better crops.
And so, I go from a few to more than 1500. We are talking about abandoned dolls, so their image instills even more fear, many of them are missing limbs, have empty eye sockets, are dirty or rotten.
Some of the dolls, have a really horror look,
Many consider that this story was created by imagination
of Don Julian, but legend or not, the man would end up suffering the same fate as that of the girl.
In 2001, an aging Julián Santana approached one of the canals to fish accompanied by his nephew. There, he confessed to his family member that there was a mermaid in those waters that had been trying to take him away for a long time.
At one point, the nephew went to see how the cattle were grazing in the area, and when he returned with his uncle, he lay dead floating in the river. The autopsy revealed that the cause of death had been a heart attack.
From this moment, the place would remain with the name of the "Island of the dolls", a place where silence is mixed with tragedy and mystery. Legends say that every night, the terrible dolls were possessed by the spirit of the girl and accompanied Don Julián in his last days.
Tourists who travel to this place also affirm that there is a certain air of witchcraft in the place. The dolls seem to move their heads and limbs, some even follow you with their eyes, or at least so many of the curious who have come to the place affirm it.
But only Don Julián knew what really happened, if something really happened. In any case, everything will depend on the beliefs of each one, although regardless of the legends the place deserves to be visited at least once in a lifetime.
In the place there are more than 1500 dolls, which serve as an amulet against the spirit of the girl.
