well the old saying is "you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar" applies. If you are calm, gentle, and patient it leads to a rescue. If you force it the dog will run.
Great story! Once she realized no one was going to ever hurt her again, she just blossomed...no, she exploded out of her shell! I imagine she'll always be a little tentative when encountering new people or situations, but with her mom and dad anchoring her, she is definitely more willing to try! This is the kind of rescue that really makes my day!!!🥰🥰🥰

Thank you for taking the time and effort to get her on a leash and calmed down enough to gain her trust. She’s been abused with that spiked choke collar. You can just tell by her reaction to the slip lead tightening a little bit on her neck. She escaped from hell. That’s all I’ll say. I have a pit lab mix. I got her at 8 weeks. She’s the sweetest 80 pound dog I’ve ever had. The lab means she’s a little bigger than Cardi. My dog is named Bella. She followed me around the yard out in the country. It’s my way. I want the pup to choose me. Cardi has clearly chosen her person. I can’t thank you enough for sharing this. ❤
Good Job! They recognized the barking was not aggression and the dog was trying to keep people away because he was unsure and fearful. Another tip I learned working with horses is to Release the Pressure. Approaching is Pressure, Facing is Pressure, and Eye Contact is Pressure. It's not an easy skill to conquer in yourself, but it's amazing how much it can help. You can't turn your back, but if you can crabwalk slowly while keeping your eyes focused in front of the dog rather than on the dog you can ease its tension.
This channel routinely brings tears to my eyes. I live in Detroit and have rescued 7 or eight dogs from the street. They somehow find me. Most of them are pits/ pit mixes. Given love they are all the sweetest dogs imaginable. Bravo for your patience!

WOW !!! 4 hours ! Patiences and love is what this poor girl never had and escaped to live life on her own. BUT, divine providence saw it all and said , No, you will know what trust and love will feel like. And now Cardi is safe, and sound, and surrounded by love all the time. I need a tissue.
Why is there no mention if searching for this dog's family? A leash and collar as if she was lost but no searches? Everybody in the comments is so happy that she found a loving home, but someone might be missing this pup.
The colar was a choke colar, which, I don't know if you've seen how it looks like and what it does, but yeah, I wouldn't search for a family that uses a choke collar

I've been in the dog grooming business in the past and known many beloved dogs with them. I would stop making such broad generalizations if I were you.

And even if it did, I'm pretty certain in any kind of case they first have a grace period to let families find their pet before they put it into foster care and other. So if they didn't come for it, they probably stopped looking.

My SIL did the same thing in Detroit, It took her over a week of feeding her hot dogs to get her to get into the car. Then my son took her, and they have had her for over 10 years. She grew up with a 10 yr old and an 8 yr old and now is their protector.
What a beautiful pittie puppy. I had to have mine put down the day after Thanksgiving 2023 and I am still devastated. It makes me happy and sad at the same time to watch a video with a pittie puppy in it. I live near Traverse City, MI
Cardi can live her best life with her new forever family & get all the love and attention she deserves.
