    But seriously: There are several of kids' movies with a similar magical tone to them, some of them quite underrated. Still, I'd love to see reactions of the guys to a few of them. Especially I'm thinking of the _Spiderwick Chronicles_ or _Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium_ , which I found both very enjoyable (and easily digestible :D). Or for a better known "kids' fantasy movie" - a react to _The Neverending Story_ would certainly be awesome, too.

I enjoy this version becsuse it's closer to the book, and Danny Elfman's songs are terrific. Gonna go off on a whim, but out of the two Chocolate Factory films, I far preferred this one, in nearly every way:
    - More book accurate
    - Better, more complete ending
    - More interesting characterisation, especially the rotten kids (the original characters were really basic and flat)
    - Mr Bucket exists (and this raises the stakes when he loses his job)
    - Better grandparents (other 3 in the original might as well not have been in the movie)
    - Buckets actually feel like a tight-knit family
    - Great, high production value, making use of the 2005 tech
    - Uniquely stylised, feels more like a whimsical world
    - Excellent cinematography (compared to the dull execution of the first movie)
    - Cool, grungy atmosphere
    - Superb, outstanding sets
    - Varied and catchy music (not the same copy-paste template)
    - Wonka’s backstory
    - Dahl hated the original movie (even said it was too sappy and saccharine)
    - Crazy attention to detail (like Wonka’s pale skin and awkwardness from not going outside, the linguistically accurate Wonka bars, Augustus’s bars even have German writing, Violet’s panic chewing, Charlie savouring his food and wrappers etc.)
    - Was clearly a passion project instead of a commercial pretending to be a movie
    - Poetic in some areas (Charlie and Wonka parallels, Mike calling the Oompa Loompas “little freaks”, camera focused on Augustus when Wonka said not to get overexcited, followed by him dropping and stepping on his chocolate, Violet’s mother’s karma when she mocked Augustus fitting through the pipe etc.)
    - Better at showing instead of telling, like flashbacks and small facial expressions and cues

    • @meganlodon
      @meganlodon 3 месяца назад +1

      @@d.b.4671 In order to determine who's the better Wonka, we are to look at Dahl's vision. Dahl hated Gene's portrayal, and didn't even want him to be casted into the role. But, for what the movie was, he still gave it his all and was a great actor. He just wasn't the greatest choice as Wonka. In all honesty, neither was Depp, but at least Depp stayed true to Dahl's character unlike Gene. So, when comparing the two, Depp was definitely the better Wonka. Now, what you are really trying to say is that Gene is the better actor, but that's a whole 'nother discussion.

    Is the grisly reaper mowing
    Yes! The danger must be growing

    Thank you Sir / Chanel Admin.
    The Batman 2022, TASM, TASM 2, Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas, Jojo Rabbit.
    These movies don't disrupt the ongoing MCU flow, and are separate individual films. Not universes like Zack Snyder's Man of Steel DCEU

      This film is just as good and even improves upon the original in many aspects (I still like the original movie though). Furthermore, Patricia Neal, the wife of the late Roald Dahl (the creator of Willy Wonka) saw this film as a more faithful adaptation of her late husbands work and praised Tim Burton for his effort.

      I don’t understand the hate towards this version? This one is a lot more faithful with the original book. The author actually hated the movie adaptation from the 70s. I don’t know who said it, probably the authors daughter who worked on the 2005 movie, said that her father would have loved this version of the movie. He was long gone when this movie was in production.

    I hate this movie compared to the original so much. It's so poorly made and embarrassingly done and acted. Sorry to those that say they like it but oh my lord it is so bad I cannot believe it. Always show them the original movies unless you hear otherwise, there is no way anyone recommended this one over the original. I see comments saying they enjoyed it so that's good, but I don't know what the rest of you guys familiar with movies problem is for thinking this movie is any good. Don't ever let your kids watch this version, it's so bad it's like your hooking your kids up to MK Ultra yourself.

    • @user-sq5eg8vz6j
      @user-sq5eg8vz6j 3 месяца назад +5

      The original mostly likely doesn’t have a Hindi dubbed made. This is why this one is shown to them instead. I know this because I tried to look up a Hindi dubbed for the original but couldn’t find anything, only found a Hindi version of this one on online. The Indian dub industry is very poor compared to other countries, most middle class Indians prefer to watch movies in English or subtitled.
