  • Lake Mulwala
What a massive, healthy lake full of Murray Cod and multiple breeds of birds everywhere.
We stayed at Kyffins Reserve which is looked after by the council and is completely free. You can stay for 14 nights on one of the waterfront sites or further back on the open reserve. Council collects the garbage twice a week, although there isn’t any facilities on site the public toilets, dump point & potable water is only 3 minutes down the road at Owen’s Bridge Park which also has a playground BBQ’s and boat ramp on Lake Mulwala.
The fishing! We put the tinny in and could leave it moored directly in front of our campsite about 20 steps away from the caravan. There are 3 boat ramps along Kyffins Reserve, the closest to us was just around the corner 300 metres away. For us the purple Jackall was the standout choice for luring the Murray Cod, with a total of 23 Cod & 1 Yellow Belly (Golden Perch) all catch & release, and we are pleased to report not 1 carp was caught or seen.
Other pluses for this wonderful lake is the easy sandy, shallow access into the water for swimming or Kayaking, all along the reserve front is mostly only 2 - 3 metres deep at its deepest, you need to follow the channel for the deeper, less wooded area.

@@peterbeadman5115 Hey! Thanks Yes Mulwala is amazing, would love to pull in one of those monster cods we see others catching (we’ll keep trying) Yes the Ram has had a GVM Upgrade with Lovell’s 3950kg our axle weight was boarder line so we moved the boat motor to the front of the tray inside the canopy and now only have 1 fridge in the canopy (we did have 2 a fridge & freezer)
