Fun fact: GTA III was firstly designed as FPS game, and this belongs to why Claude is a silent character. They tried to show the main character of game as you with first person camera view and not talking. But they scrapped this idea later.

3:14. Thats probably way it got cut as a feature, Rockstar were working on first person as an option for GTA3 but didn't finish it.
trying to mod gta games is what made me appreciate bethesda game modding. Especially skyrim.
It gets very convoluted but every step in the process is amazingly documented and almost every mod has detailed installation instructions.
Meanwhile gta modding is based on hopes and dreams.
Most of the modding I did consisted of texture swaps and adding vehicles. Imgtool was my go to for modding this game, and learning how to add vehicles taught me how to read configuration layouts in notepad. I learned so much in modding gta3, and later san andreas, that I use on a weekly basis as a retro pc gamer. Modding gta3 was ESSENTIAL to learning to diagnose and fix graphical and load issues in many different games, as well as navigate content structures and identify different file types.

Most of those weapon animations are actually the fps development leftover, according to "the cutting room floor" site.
R*'s opaqueness and bean counter mentality ruined their reputation forever imho.
As a FPS gamer, I agree that First Person is really wild for shooter games.
First person in GTA 3 sounds super hard hahah, i just did a full playthrough of 5 in first person only and had loads of fun but a bit annoying soemtimes especially the cover mechanic and stuff

First Person? Who's first person? We all know that Claude was not the first person because humanity has existed for thousands if not millions of years. The bible states that the first person was Adam, unless you're a stinky atheist, grr!!!
Anyway, cool speedrun, can't wait for your critique of GTA III and GTA IV that will change my mind and make me hate the games and the entire series.

when it comes to them maybe getting 1:20 on ps2, I'd assume they were probably testing the game on devkits where the game would probably run and load faster, there's also a fair chance that wasn't on the final version and that it was on an earlier version with way more bugs

You could try GTA IV with DXVK mod and Essential Fixes, should help to get it running much better. For me, it runs at 120 FPS and is overall waay more responsive, as expected. EDIT: Oh, this was asked in the chat. Damn, didn't work for you.

The current Speedrunning strats is a huge foundation of years of research, theory testing and trial and error, and devs managed to do it in 1:20 in 6 months mid development? 😂

When I did a playthrough of a 1st person mod I had the issue of the camera sometimes sliding inside Claude's head or hair. Have you encountered any such issues with this one? Can you put a link of the mod you used in the description?
I had no issues with that, I think the only ones I had were with Claude's arms snapping weirdly when driving sometimes. Mod link is now in the description as well
Im not very tech savy but i managed to install this 1st person in pc through Cleo. Im not entirly sure of the way you did it. But am curious too know.

If im not mistaken, the problem isn't the copyright itself in Russia, it's because author himself blocked his stuff in Russia, so if a video has it, it's get banned. I can't watch videos (specifically some SA and VCS stuff on your channel, the GTAM ones, on mobile they just don't show at all, but on YT TV they show up but blocked with the reason i wrote above) cause of this.
Anyway, hyped for GTAM.

Pretty impressed with your driving when you literally can't see where you're going 😂 it looks like the visibility in the infernus can be fixed by moving closer to the windshield using the offset controls. It looks like you're at the back of a tunnel now because you're too far back combined with a very wide FOV. Shame the adjustment range is so small though
Half Life is as badass as gta.
Prerelease was probably a different game bc 9/11 changed everything but it was very close to the og launch date
