Oh yay, another person who doesn't know what the meaning of the word entrapment is. For those of you who care, just because the word trap is in entrapment does not mean if you trap somebody that you are guilty of entrapment. I swear it's the most misconceived legal term in the world. People think if you're set up by the cops that the cops are guilty of entrapment and that's simply not true. If that was the case then they would never set up drug stings or weapon purchase stings or prostitution stings. It is only entrapment if a police officer coerces you into doing something that you weren't already going to do. For example...... An undercover cop approaches you and says hey man do you want to buy this cocaine? You say yes. He says you're under arrest. NOT ENTRAPMENT....... Now let's try a different scenario. Undercover cop approaches you and says hey man do you want to buy this cocaine? You say no thanks. Undercover cop says are you sure it's really good cocaine? You say, yeah I'm sure man I don't even do cocaine. Undercover cop says come on man just try this cocaine it's really really good and it's no big deal, there's no cops around or anything. You reluctantly agree to try the cocaine. Undercover cop says you're under arrest. ENTRAPMENT.......Why? Because you had no intention of doing the cocaine until the police officer coerced you into doing it. So every criminal who gets busted by an undercover cop and then start screaming that's entrapment I asked if you were a cop and you said no. They are fools. Undercover cops are under no legal obligation to self-identify. They can absolutely say no if you ask them if they're a cop and still arrest you. As long as they didn't coerce you into committing the illegal activity they can still arrest you and it's not entrapment.
