There is a good reason so many people cried last February when Rupert Neve died, still working at 94 years young bright as ever. In fact brilliant, and one of a kind. RIP, hope you are having a great time out in the universe or where ever you went. Where ever it is, I know it will sound much better very soon! OH, and thanks for training those young people at Rupert Neve Designs, keeping some of you around for a few more generations seems pretty smart to me.
this background music makes me think at the end he's gonna say, "so please, just give as little as $5 a month to help provide sunlight to studio engineers worldwide"
I am so honored to own this gorgeous piece of kit - it's an homage to all that Rupert gave the world in his beautiful designs. I certainly don't do it justice, but it feels great to have invested in this wonderful company.
The Shelford Channel is one of the greatest channel strips in the world. Once you hear it on your music, you will never want to use any other channel strip but the Shelford again.
I bought one as the one high quality piece for my home studio... this thing allowed me to record out amazing tracks... each one mono- with different flavors in... then mixed down (through) while learning the basics.. simply breathtaking how pristine yet exclusively signatured this channel strip is. It can be squeaky clean, or violently warm- all in a way that makes tracks sound pro. Thank you for changing my world, Rupert Neve. @kalaniandthekompany on soundcloud :)
@@miltonmagik It works flawlessly in any stage of the recording process.. It is utterly amazing for tracking and also wonderful for mixing/mastering too - it would be nice to have two for a stereo signal though, for mixing and mastering, but a single one (for the solo home recordist) is brilliant for tracking.
Can I get him to read The Night Before Christmas for me this holiday season? I want to sip egg nog next to a crackling fire while he says, "while sugar plumbs danced in their heads"
@@klvAcosta Not saying its not quality, but only an audiophile actively listening will hear the difference between this and software. You do you, nothing wrong with that.

@@b.hornetiii.6771 The silk options are great for mastering! Also has some nifty features for mastering. I’m out of the audio engineering space now as I wanted to move on to different endeavors, but I’d still highly recommend this piece!
Thanks Kenneth, we've seen great engineers prefer one over the other, but the Shelford is absolutely a great choice, and from what we've seen it tends to be the first choice for most engineers.
We think so, shelford channel in our opinion encapsulates the best of the classic designs just with more versatility. Those classics are much loved on vocals from ranging from rock to jazz to hip hop, so it is a pretty safe bet.
@@RupertNeveDesigns It was a really tough decision for me, Either 2x Shelford Channels or a Portico MBP. I went with the MBP. BUT I always find myself coming back to these videos of the Shelford channel and wonder if I made the right decision. One day....One day. But maybe you guys could do a MBP Shelford Edition? :)
Api’ the channel strip shiits all over the shellford, neves products have gone down the Toilet since Rupert passed, the API unit is built with transisters inside there 25-20 opamps where shellfords uses microchips…

Hi MC, so, you use the Shelford for tracking? I thought it was for mastering only. What other pieces of gear do you use along with the Shelford?
Milton Bass have a listen to some of our tracks. Definitely not a pro-mixer, but using the WA47, Neumann KMS105 as mics

Hi guys, if I would like to add a different Preamp how do I bypass the Shelford one but keeping the Shelford EQ & Comp etc ? Kind Regards, P
Fantastic! Hello, I see that Rupert has these for the 500 series, do they react the same individually

We know a lot of people with two - and the compressors can be linked for stereo operation.
