Just spent about 2 hours following this video to replace the bearing, as well as pretty thoroughly cleaning as many parts and pieces as possible. It was totally worth the time and effort. The bearing only costs $6on Amazon, and a good set of electronics screwdrivers was maybe $8-$12 more. Now I can fix loads of other fidgety things around the house! REMEMBER TO PHOTOGRAPH AS YOU GO EACH TIME YOU DISCONNECT OR REMOVE SOMETHING, BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER! I left a key part out and luckily caught my error. My only suggestion/comment would be that a fair amount of the video is not properly framed to get the parts of the coffee maker or the process involved. Worth a re-do, I think. Thanks for the helpful and informative video.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge on how to quiet our mornings in the kitchen. No longer do we need to turn up NPR on the radio each time we make a cup of coffee. I ordered bearings through Amazon and went to town on our Vertuo just as you instructed in your video. When doing so, the small hollow metal tube in my water line came out and I put it back in but apparently did not line up the small 3/4 round washer on it with the little notch on the surface that it rests on. I reassembled the unit with the new bearing ring and proceeded to put all my tools away before testing the unit. When I tested it, the water leaked out of the bottom of the unit below the water tank. I remembered that I had reinstalled the small metal tube and thought perhaps therein lay the problem. I pulled out my tools again and took the machine apart for a second time. I pulled out the water hose and looked it over. It took a little bit to find the notch but then proceeded to line up the washer with the notch, reassembled the unit and all works fine. Thanks so much for producing the video and helping out thousands who have been yelling conversations to their spouses each time a cup of coffee is being brewed!
It worked like a charm. The toughest part was pressing down on the spring during reassembly and making that turn. But everything worked great and it is fixed! Like another comment below I found the T10 was ideal. Thank you-this video continues to help rescue an older but reliable Nespresso Vertuo.
My machine stopped working (sounded jammed). With a lot of persistance it took me hours to do the repair with the help of my nephew. It was not easy removing and reinstalling the piece that holds the bearing. My fingers hurt. Works now like brand new. The person who is demonstrating is a real pro who knows how to feel the parts. I wanted to keep this machine because the new ones look cheaply made.
First, thank you for taking the time to share this. I saved so much money while also feeling so satisfied for not only saving money, but completing a task that was actually challenging for me, and not being wasteful. I would have to say that the process is tedious, but worth it. If you’ve ever completed a Lego set, you can do this. I am a mom that needs coffee but does not want to waste money throwing away a perfectly good machine, all that needed to be replaced was the ball bearing.
I'm thankful for the video. The old bearing was crusty from corrosion and a lot of use. I ordered a new bearing from Amazon and the replacement process went smoothly. I did have a problem on reassembly that is worth noting though and not included in the instructions. Water leaked out of the cap being held by the four screws preventing the machine from working properly. On closer examination, I noted that the short metal pipe which inserts into the end of the rubber supply line has a "C" ring on it. (When I disassembled my unit, the short pipe came out of the rubber supply line). On reassembly, and when inserting the short metal pipe into the top of the head of the unit, it is important to align the gap in the "C" ring with the plastic tab within the head, otherwise it doesn't provide a proper seal and causes a leak under pressure from the pump. Once I noted this, the machine operated flawlessly. Thanks again for your video, you have saved many people a lot of $ in repairs by Nespresso, or having to purchase a replacement.
Just followed instructions. Pulled the bearing out of the housing. Didn’t feel like buying a new one and waiting so i just spun the inside part of the bearing until it loosened up. Did that for about 2 minutes to make sure nothing is lodged in there and it was spinning freely. Put it all back together. And now the machines works. If it happens again I’ll buy a new bearing. Thank you for the detailed instructional. It was easy to follow.
Thank you so much. I bought a used machine and after many cleaning cycles I was still getting gunk out. I’m sure it could use a new bearing but your video helped me disassemble it so I could clean all the dirt out. Thank you! Now I’m off to find a video on how to flush out that rubber tube. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
Terrific video, I followed along step by step and worked like a charm! If you liked (or still like) Lego, you'll love this. Like many have said, use a container for the small screws and springs. Also take pictures at each step before you take things apart so you can easily refer back in case you get lost. When I put my machine back together, I ran three cleaning cycles and some grounds came out, probably from being kicked loose. So be sure to do this before you brew your next cup of coffee. Also a note on the silicone water hose: there is a metal pipe that must be lined up perfectly with the hose and the plastic cover. Make sure you line them up correctly when putting the machine back together or it won't seal properly and you'll get watery coffee and a leaky machine.
Thank you! I bought a used machine at a thrift store on the gamble of if it was broke there was a chance that I could repair it. Took it home and it just clicked and made a grunting noice. Watched your video and then ordered bearings. Did the repair like you showed me. Just got done drinking my second espresso 😊. Thank you again!
I followed instructions for ordering the bearing. Very inexpensive. I watched the video and completed the replacement step by step. Works perfectly and I can not remember since the Vertuo machine was as quiet. Very helpful video
Thank you for doing this video! My husband ordered the new bearing and replaced it yesterday, it's amazing how bad it had gotten. We've saved so much money by not having to buy a new machine for just this part!! Thanks again.
I got a new machine and put this one in the closet and fogot how loud it was. I came across your video and decided to give it a try. I've got a new machine again thanks alot great video
This amazing video helped me fix my Nespresso, this is not only a fix for the noise, with my machine, the bearing change helped me with the problem of watery brew. This was happening because the bad bearing didn’t allow it to spin fast enough to push the water through the grinds
Thank you for your video! I have had the Vertuo machine for a little over 5 years now and it was waking up the entire household while making coffee in the morning, Nespresso offered me a small discount for a new machine, although not available for their latest line. I am so happy that I came across your video, and decided to try to fix it myself. I got a 5 pack of bearings on Amazon for less than $7 and followed your instructions step by step. It went great! Thanks again!!
Fixed my Nespresso thanks to your video!!! Just a note for others…the first time re-assembling the machine, I tightened it down too much, so caused some friction in the spinner. After loosening it up ever so slightly, everything worked like a charm and was nice and quiet. The key is to tightening things up enough, but ensure the spinner moves relatively freely without “squeaking”.
Thank you for this excellent guide. I followed your instructions and replaced the bearing. The machine is significantly quieter now. Key learning for me was to ensure the correct alignment of the open part of the rim on the little metal nozzle attached to the hose with the tiny raised plastic piece (in direction of hose). If you don’t do this, you’ll get watery coffee and water leaks. Thank you Andrew in the thread below.
Hi Robert, I noticed the little nozzle had a notch in it. I thought it was broken but saw that it was machined that way but I couldn't see a "slot" or something similar on the rubber connector. I just put it back in the house thing hoping for the best.I made one cup of coffee and nothing leaked. Should I notice if it is misaligned right away? Thanks. Rhonda
@@rhondabroadfoot2073 It should face the direction that the hose is coming from when the dial is in the unlocked position. If you look really closely, perhaps with a flashlight, you will see a slightly raised section where the nozzle goes (at about 11 o’clock) and when you align the notch with that, the nozzle sits 100% flush.
Best way to align at the end is to lock the lid like you are making coffee and it easily aligns. Great video and thanks - mine was so lout you could hear it outside of my house. I did buy a new one, but I figured I'd give it a try and this video really helped. Now it's very quiet and now I have 2 Nespresso machines - might take one to work or something. Took under an hour. I bought the bearings on amazon - got 2 for $8.
I just replaced the bearing on mine and this video was incredibly helpful. The only nerve wracking part was removing the cover of the model on the right without breaking the plastic tabs. After that it was smooth sailing. I also lost the spring on the front like in the video and spent a lot of time looking for it so I suggest removing it before doing any of the other work. Thanks - great instructions!
I too am about to remove the cover on the machine on right. Can you kindly tell me where the plastic tabs you refer to are located and how you proceeded exactly ? Thanks
Great video. I was able to follow this and found out my bearing had failed completely. I ordered a new bearing off of Amazon and got it in 2 days vs. waiting weeks to get it from your recommended link. Also, I recommend getting a "food grade" bearing. The instructions and video were very good but there were a couple of times when you needed to move the camera and didn't so we weren't able to see what you were doing. I hadn't realized how loud the old bearing was getting until I put the new one in and ran the machine. It's whisper quiet like it must have been 5 years ago. Thanks!
THANK YOU!!!! I bought a 2nd hand machine as my old one konked out on me. When I tried cleaning it no water would come out and nothing would work but this solved it!! We ended up having to use an aquarium hand pump because we couldn't create enough pressure blowing into it ourselves and it worked ASAP. You saved me $200!!
WOW! You saved me the cost of a new machine. I purchased the tools and replacement ball bearing and, other than having to use a need nose pliers to help loosen the black nut, everything went just at you described. Thank you so much!
I have watched several videos on this problem, and you video is by far the most helpful. My bearing completely seized up, so all I was getting when attempting to make a coffee was a clicking noise for a few seconds, followed by a blinking error. I think it was repeating, 2 blinks, then pause, and repeat. Thank you SO MUCH, you just saved me $230+ I've ordered, installed the new bearing and now my Vertuoline is working perfectly.
This was so helpful. My nespresso was getting so loud. Woke up the house every morning. Couldn’t believe how quiet it’s supposed to be after we ran it with the new bearing. Thanks for sharing this video!
You are a lifesaver! Thank you so much for this video. I was easily able to follow and disassemble, change bearing, reassemble, and loud noise is gone!
Spent all day trying to fix my machine and I came across this video! My machine works perfectly now! All I did was clean the bearing it had inside and now it works like new! Thank you for this video!
This was AWESOME!! Thank you! The bearing was on Amazon for $6.42. Took about 25 mins to complete (the hardest part for me was removing/replacing the cover). Your instructions were great. My Nespresso is SO quiet again. Seems like new! 🎉
Phil can you share with all of us the Amazon order $6.42. because when I go on they want $42.00. It doesn’t seem to give the part number it gives many numbers Thanks.
Dude thank you so much! I had taken the top off but didn’t know how to get to the bearing. I cleaned the bearing out with some brakleen and metal picks, and added some brake grease lol. I had to leave the room before because the machine was so loud, now it’s insanely quiet. I love fixing things and this was the most helpful video. Thanks man
I decided to try this - had to have my husband help as it was very difficult to unscrew the part that gets you to the bearing. Too bad that you can’t see the critical parts during half of the video. Someone said to photograph each step - that’s a great idea! All that being said, the new bearing solved the problem! Machine is so quiet now it’s unbelievable. Lesson learned - clean and descale on a more regular basis. $$ saved as I was ready to throw the machine in the trash! Wish Romafix would make a new video tho with better video and slow down. Music is also unnecessary. Thanks tho for letting us all know this can be solved!
Excellent tutorial. You really know these machines as opposed to many who are opening them for the first time and video themselves doing it. This is incredibly useful. BYW. I've seen the bearings on Ali Express. So someone out there knows of this fault and how to fix it besides you my friend! LOL
Thank you, @RomaFix! My machine is now ~30db quieter - the pump is now louder than the spinner! A quick note to make re-attachment of the cover easier; I marked the position of the rotating plate in the base using a china marker, one tick mark on each side of the molded fingers that protrude up and fit into the pockets in the release lever. It made it a lot easier to put the cover on properly the first time. Thanks again for a great video, you saved me 200 USD.
Thank u. This worked great. My bearing had seased up completely a couple times so I was ready to replace it. I was able to get machine working while a bearing arrived by manually rotating the part that pokes holes in the capsule but it ran very loud. Once the replacement bearing arrived, I found out that just cleaning the bearing and adding some oil (without removing the ball bearing covers) worked great. The bearing was covered in coffee so all it seemed to need was a good cleaning.
Thanks for this great video. After completion it all worked great except it only produced hot water. I also found that the small circlip on the central metal tube was the problem. There is a very small nub on the black plasic part where the circlip sits, and it is essential that the gap in circlip fits over this nub or it does not set properly. Thanks again.
Thank you for the excellent video and detailed instructions. I called Nespresso customer service earlier and was told that it will cost $120 to fix my machine and will take 3 weeks to repair. So, I found your video, purchased the proper screw driver for $8.00, spent maybe an hour with the machine, and it’s fixed! Now, I’m enjoying my cup of coffee. 😃
@mrgel1878 thank you for posting your experience with customer service. I have a Vertuo Chrome, currently selling for $164, so $120 for a repair and three weeks without a machine is not only not worth the expense but would kill my husband who drinks coffee three times a day! 😆
Edited: I successfully changed the ball bearing, the noise subsided but it’s not making the coffee properly. I think I might have tightened to much at some point. Now I definitely need to buy another machine. ***Thank you for the video. I got it, I changed it!!! Very proud of myself. I have this machine for 5 years and I thought the noise was normal wear and tear. So let me tell you that it’s not that simple. You will get frustrated and you will probably need an extra hand at some point. Another tip: mine is a De’Longhi model. Don’t close it! The spring on the left side won’t open it by pressing it. When removing the big spring, inside that part is really hard to turn counterclockwise, my husband helped me with a plier. No more noise! I think I’ll stay with this machine for now! 😊
thank you for the video, you saved me a couple hundred dollars. The machine is so quiet now, it is hard to believe it was ever that quiet and I also have my crema back! Thanks so much. My one complaint about your video was at times, the part you were working on was not even in the frame of the video. But none the less, still a very good tutorial video.
This is absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much for this video! Simple instructions and now the machine is REALLY quiet compared to what it was. Thank you again for posting this!!!!!
So I'm back to report that with roughly twice daily use, it took the standard bearings 5 months to fail again. The stainless/ceramic bearings are not a place to save money. They are a must if you'd like this repair to last! I just installed the new stainless bearings and am sure these will last longer. The standard bearing was in absolutely horrible shape...far worse than the original that lasted 8 years. Thanks again for your helpful video!
An excellent video. OK the camera could have been positioned slightly better, but he does say to take stage photo’s for reference. My friends machine wasn’t pumping water, so I did the strip down to the stage of removing the white control unit, then removed the four screws under this, which accessed the water connection, this revealed the nozzle, which was blocked with coffee, a long meat pin cleared this! Job done, I love a challenge, but who can manage without RUclips.
Thank you so much. Very useful video and instructions. I was about to change our machine and you saved us unnecessary expense. Now the machine works like new with no loud jet engine like noise towards the end (high RPM).
It fixed the noise issue but created another - Started making watery coffee and espresso. Tried resetting and troubleshooting with tech help from Nespresso. It didn't work and had to buy a new one at discount by returning the broken one.
Very impressed with the quality of your instructions and video and am so thankful you show us how to put it back! Just waiting for my bearing to come in and it clearly needed it. Very rusty and stuck hard inside the casing. Had to soak it and use a hammer to knock the old one out.
Great Video!!! Note that my bearing was completely seized. Replaced the $7 bearing using your procedure, and now the machine works like new. Needed to watch video to replace parts in the proper sequence after installing the bearing. Well Done!! and thanks again
Wow thank you so much for this! It really wasn't hard with your help. The machine is so smooth now I should have done this earlier. Old bearing had completely disintegrated!
I did all you said and cleaned the bearing and filled it with wheel grease. It was easy with your video (even if it wasn't always clear). Good explanations though. I managed to reinstall everything without remaining parts...youppi. The greasing didn't eliminate the noise. I guess I will have to order a new bearing. Thank you.
the fact we all bought these expensive machines & this is our fate... scrolling YT for fixes T.T ps ty for everyone out there uploading these fixes lol
I found your video very helpful and after bearing replacement the machine is quiet. I have several suggestions to make the process more clear. First, the use of a focused light such as a headlamp when working on the underside on the will allow one to see how to disengage the chrome cover more easily at the front of the machine. Second, I suggest that you alter the camera angle a bit so that the process you are doing is centered on the screen. Lastly, the way to insure alignment when re-installing the chrome cover is to close the machine and insure it's fully in lock position, before placing the cover on. Then, by holding the lever in the locked position as the cover is placed, it has to engage properly.
Thanks so much for the video! Took about 45 minutes to do, I wasn’t as fast as you in your video but you show the steps very well. My coffee machine sounds like it’s brand new again! (I don’t usually comment on videos but had to just to say thanks, you have saved me a lot of money just buying a bearing and not and new coffee machine!!!)
Thank you!! I particularly appreciate the description of how to take apart the machine on the right as I could not find that elsewhere. Runs like new - what a difference!
Thank you so much for your informative video! I feel like the proverbial frog in a pot of slowly boiling water. I've owned my machine for years and lost track of just how loud my machine had become. I wanted to approach this with a little bit of science and downloaded a decibel meter app for my phone so that I could take volume readings before and after the bearing replacement. I was sure to take both measurements at a consistent distance of 2 feet with identical placement. The max decibel reading before replacing the bearing was a crazy 97 dB. With the new bearing, the max reading dropped to 73 dB. With the logarithmic nature of the dB scale, the 24 db drop equates to 1/8th the volume! The difference is staggering and wonderful! I accidentally ordered the standard steel bearing instead of the stainless/ceramic ones that you recommended. I received 6 bearings for the same price as one stainless steel bearing. I'll see how long the standard bearings last...perhaps as long as the other critical components on the machine which might break before rust becomes a problem. Either way, I'll be able to replace it 5 more times :) Thanks again!
Great video .Clear instructions to take it apart. Had no water flow. Video helped me establish what the problem was. Short metal water tube at the end of the plastic pipe was completely blocked. Cleaned it up, All runs well now. Thank you!
THANK YOU so much!! Great video, clear, simple and precise. I was able to fix my noisy machine in no time following your steps. At the end, your advice was very helpful to put back the cover correctly. I put the bottom part at unlock position, and did the same thing with the top part, it went in like a charm.
Thank you for step by step on how to open the machine. P.S. if bearing is in good condition pay close attention to the bottom part that get screwed onto the bearing. Similar to dogs on a washing machine they can be stuck in position and they should be able to spin freely all 4 dogs clean free up and replace if not broken, this should also repair the load sound when spinning.
Thanks for the video! I needed help getting the cover off and your early description was spot on! I also had a loose spring which I saw you find and replace properly. This was also a big help. I replaced the bearing and my machine is running great.
Thank you!! Amazing video - almost threw the machine out it was so loud. Ended up going with not a stainless steel bearing but have 5 - so will see how long they last. Even if i have to do this every other month - worth it! Thanks again!
LOCKED LID FIX I'm one of those dolts ;-) who didn't watch the end of the video in detail; I thought he was just having a little trouble snapping the cap back on. Once again, I was reminded to watch the full video first, so you can flag sections like this. And read ALL the comments first. With 500-plus, I scanned down a bit, but somehow didn't notice the issues of people locking themselves out of their machines. D'oh! (I noticed the lever was off-center as I was closing it, and had an idle thought of whether I could live with it… then "click" and the realization that I was locked out. ) But as I write, I'm enjoying a great coffee after a week of pressed, made by my repaired (blessedly quiet) machine. In my case, it would start a cycle, then seize, stop working, and start flashing. Some observations and a locked top "solution" below (I have the De'Longhi flat-top version). As a commenter has said, BEWARE. 1. I didn't have trouble prying up the cap the first time, but managed to end up with a small piece of broken plastic the second time (not a big deal.) Be gentle. 2. The location of those pins is *key*. [6:51] Fail to note this, and you may discover that the large coiled spring can be *dangerous*. I had trouble twisting the cap piece back down on the spring, but finally got it seated a little under the tabs. "Is that it?" I wondered. A moment later, standing above it, I looked down and BOOM! A 3" projectile hit me hard on the cheek and the edge of my glasses. No one else has mentioned this particular fail, but I guess there had to be a first time. ;-) The pins need to be turned counterclockwise to open position. This will open up the tabs enough to bayonet this thing on. 3. Lock release. After some initial frustrated attempts to open it, I gave it a few days, re-read any relevant comments, and pored over video stills and my own photos to try and determine where that release tab was under the cover. I figured I could potentially reach it from under the lid with a paper clip or other tool; failing that, I could pry the rear part of the cover off at the back hinge location and possibly get better access to the clip; or I could break the cover by prying at the front, which sounds like what @johnradford2258 suggested. I'd considered the drilling option early on, and a comment on this gave me confidence it might work as a last resort. The closest I could get with a tool was after prying off the back of the cover and shimming it along the side. With a paper clip I could feel the spring, but couldn't push the tab. I have thin, angled electronics pliers, but I couldn't create a big enough gap to get them in. Time to pull out the drill. I used a 3/8" bit, but probably could've gone a bit smaller. I put some tape over the area, then drilled, slowly, from the side about 1/2" above the bottom of the cover where the flat part meets the curve. Then I used a bent 3" finishing nail to lever the tab, and the top popped open. 4. I'd seen the comments about leaks and the silver tube. My tube had popped out during the face-blast incident, and fortunately, while looking for the spring, my wife found it. I had to guess at where it came from. ;-) I figured I might as well go back and have a look at what I'd done with that, and glad I did. Read those comments. Conclusion: While a bit of hack, this works. The hole is quite unobtrusive, and I could possibly even find a rubber plug for it. (I actually consider it a "feature", in case my lever ever gets disconnected, which I saw happened to someone somewhere.) I've put a couple of photos on my channel->community in case you're in this situation and want to know the location of the hole. Thanks again to RomaFix! (Wish I'd hung onto the old machine we replaced this one with 1.5 years ago. It lasted five years, though it sounded like a plane taking off for much of its life. I bought a 10-pack of bearings for $18 and I've got a bunch left.)
I drilled a hole too like you explained! Thank you for saving me 😂 Mine is a bit more toward the crease than yours, but in the end your hole is in a better spot! (I ended up drilling a little bit to much toward the screw spot). In the end I’m able to use my Nespresso machine so it’s all that matters!! Going to put a small sticker to cover the hole and voilà!
@@sabrina.m0924 Good to hear! The sticker's a brilliant idea. The hole is tough to notice -- I asked a friend to tell me if anything was odd about the machine, and he couldn't. But I did try a plastic plug, which didn't work that well (turns out my bit was 5/16). Might just try the sticker.
Thanks, our machine is so quiet now. However we had so much trouble trying to get the part with the big spring back in place we just did not have the strength in our arthritic thumbs to get it back in. It took almost two hours of pushing down we actually ended up cracking the plastic so hopefully the machine will last until the next FREE with capsule purchase offer.
Thank you! Very glad I found your video and decided to tackle this repair instead of getting rid of my Nespresso. Hopefully many more years of expensive but tasty coffee ahead.
I did it! Watched your's & a few other videos, but kept coming back here. Ordered the bearings & performed the surgery quickly. The result was awesome! Noise was reduced to a whisper. I am thankful to you for your video which was very helpful.
Thank you very much, it worked!!! When I tested the old bearing it ran very smoothly and the new one was kind of "stiff" but just for the fun of it I used the new one. I thought it won't work, it's probably something else. BUT would you believe, it's running again. The 1/2" long metal pipe at the end silicone water feeding pipe came off, so when installing it into the hole, align the split-ring with the little "bump" in front of the platform ( very small) Thanks again
I want to thank you. Your video was great ! Following your instructions was really easy to replace the bearing and now our machine "sounds" ( I must say does not sound) like new.
Wow! I am completely amazed. I followed your video step by step....SUCCESS! Many thanks!! I was ready to toss my Nespresso away if it didn't work, but you helped me save a couple hundred dollars! Thank you!
Thank you so much my friend, I was able to fix my machine since this morning I could not drink my Nespresso coffee during my trip to the office, it was clogged from small coffee grounds at the end of the pipe tip (the black little tip that breaks the cup´s plastic lid). I think I could fix it without opening the machine but I was able to deeply clean all the inner parts and finally I assemble it with no problems. You deserve 100 likes!!!
Excellent video. I repaired two machines. Unfortunately following the repair they only produced hot water (no coffee). I ended up taking them apart multiple times to try and figure out why. For those that had the metal tube fall out of the rubber hose (like me), when you replace it, make sure you position the gap in the circlip over the elevated tab on the top plate otherwise the hose and tube will not sit correctly and the water will bypass the coffee pod and all you will get is hot water.
Bearings we're way cheaper using the link you recommended - used Paypal - Alix Express delivered in three weeks - they were exactly what was needed - video was great - super helpful - wouldn't have known where to start - Machine was abused by my daughters who sufferred from no Starbucks during covid! Happy Holidays!
BEWARE: I definitely appreciate the video, of course. Thanks! BUT there are several steps that are too easy to get wrong. (Also, be very careful not to lose any of the springs.) NOTES: When disassembling: the bearing component (8:00), for me, required pliers (appears finger tight in video) ..... When reassembling, some steps RomaFix noted but deserve added emphasis: 1) 10:54 proper alignment of the 4-screw spring holder. I got that wrong, creating a puzzle and wasting time. 2) 11:10 water feed (triangular) head must be pressed in FIRMLY. He glossed over this tiny step and I failed to do this firmly enough. This caused machine to express mostly clear water and VERY little coffee (reduced essential pressure somehow). I had to re-do the whole process! Weird, since the water hose head attachment was all I did very slightly differently. 3) 13:30 alignment is very important BEFORE screwing the top back on. If you lock the top w/o the lever in proper alignment, the top will not unlock until you unscrew the 4 screws holding the top cover on and get at the 2 plastic clips somehow (1:47), which is a real pain. I ended up breaking these clips, which seems to affect nothing at all - feel free to break them, IMHO. Also, they do NOT un-clip nearly as easily as he showed. Generally, the process is NOT as easy as suggested. I'm very handy and yet made a lot of little mistakes. MY PROBLEM?: I think I viewed the video mostly in large chunks (and at 1.5x speed - bad idea!) and figured it would be obvious. I should have watched a step, paused the video and did that one step and proceed that way step by step, pausing for almost every step.
I also experienced the issue with weak/clear coffee through the the brewing process after following this video. I found that between not firmly connecting the water line and having the little metal connector tube firmly seated between the line and the brewing head was and issue. Also, I overtightened the screws which seems to have been a problem as well.
Helpful video for the disassembly and reassembly. After I completed reassembly the machine was much quieter but the coffee was more water than coffee. There is a C clip on the short metal water tube. It's connected to the hose under the button assembly. Make sure the opening in the C clip lines up with the notch in the assembly that you press it down into. If its not lined up you'll get watery coffee.
Thank you so much for this well-done video. My problem was completely different - the locking mechanism on my Vertuo popped off. This video helped me understand how to remove the chrome hood so I could replace the interior screws. Much appreciated!
I am plagiarizing Donald Dadey since he said it perfectly: "This is absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much for this video! Simple instructions and now the machine is REALLY quiet compared to what it was. Thank you again for posting this!!!!! One caveat - it was a little disconcerting to have the bottom part of the video cut off but one can eventually see everything. Maybe re-do? If not, I'm still VERY appreciative.
Thank you!!! Saved my Nespresso. My water line was clogged in the tube that inserts into POD. I was able to clean everything and the bearing. Def made it a little harder not seeing the bottom half of the video during some of the video. I am grateful for your help.
My machine was stuck in a cycle of blinking lights (would blink twice repeatedly) and when trying to reset or run in clean and descale mode the engine would make a click sound like it was stuck. After spending 30 minutes with Nespresso support, their conclusion was to send it in for repair ($150) or buy a new machine. Thank goodness I found this video because I was able to take the machine apart, soaked the parts shown in a bowl of white vinegar, cleaned with hot water and put back together. Machine is back up and running.
Can you put a link to the one you got on Amazon? Happy with it?
Glad I could help.
Same!
Thank you! My machine is back up and running. I lost one black plastic tab, but that is the sacrifice to the god of repairs. 😂
Glad I could help!
Thanks, Don't forget to subscribe.
@@robertmooney9714 thank you!
Also sometimes when I disassemble something I do some photos for easier backwards assembly.
Thanks for sharing this! I experienced exactly what you described, and fixed it via your direction. You are so helpful too!
Thanks!
Glad it helped. .
Could you please give me the amazon link for the bearing. Thanks!
Thank you for posting this. You made it so easy to fix our noisy machine. Saved us quite a bit of money.
Did you have trouble with getting the screw off to access the bearing? Was it on very tight?
I have watched several videos on this problem, and you video is by far the most helpful. My bearing completely seized up, so all I was getting when attempting to make a coffee was a clicking noise for a few seconds, followed by a blinking error. I think it was repeating, 2 blinks, then pause, and repeat. Thank you SO MUCH, you just saved me $230+ I've ordered, installed the new bearing and now my Vertuoline is working perfectly.
You're welcome!
This was so helpful. My nespresso was getting so loud. Woke up the house every morning. Couldn’t believe how quiet it’s supposed to be after we ran it with the new bearing. Thanks for sharing this video!
Thanks, subscribe ;-)
We’re it’s the right size and we’re to order please
You are a lifesaver! Thank you so much for this video. I was easily able to follow and disassemble, change bearing, reassemble, and loud noise is gone!
Spent all day trying to fix my machine and I came across this video! My machine works perfectly now! All I did was clean the bearing it had inside and now it works like new! Thank you for this video!
Thanks, don't forget to subscribe.
It doesn’t seem to give the part number it gives many numbers
Thanks.
Thanks man
Glad that it helped. Don't forget to subscribe ;-)
Well done on repairing yours as well 🙂👍
Thank you!! When I got my old bearing out it disintegrated in my hand… now works like a charm. Perfect instructions 😊
Some bearings have to much use in them, it's always better to have a spare one.
Glad that it helped.
@mrgel1878 thank you for posting your experience with customer service. I have a Vertuo Chrome, currently selling for $164, so $120 for a repair and three weeks without a machine is not only not worth the expense but would kill my husband who drinks coffee three times a day! 😆
Perfect! Thank you to the author of the video. There is no need to buy new coffee machine. Just 30 min. , $13 CAD for set of two bearings and voila.
Thank you very much for sharing this video. We saved good money from not buying a new coffee machine. A $7 fix saved $100s.
Glad I could help!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks.
Glad it helped.
It fixed the noise issue but created another - Started making watery coffee and espresso. Tried resetting and troubleshooting with tech help from Nespresso. It didn't work and had to buy a new one at discount by returning the broken one.
Does anyone know what kind of grease to use on original bearing?
Very impressed with the quality of your instructions and video and am so thankful you show us how to put it back! Just waiting for my bearing to come in and it clearly needed it. Very rusty and stuck hard inside the casing. Had to soak it and use a hammer to knock the old one out.
It is still not drawing in water. Quieter though!
Great Video!!! Note that my bearing was completely seized. Replaced the $7 bearing using your procedure, and now the machine works like new. Needed to watch video to replace parts in the proper sequence after installing the bearing. Well Done!! and thanks again
Glad it helped!
Thank you.
Yes.
the fact we all bought these expensive machines & this is our fate... scrolling YT for fixes T.T
ps ty for everyone out there uploading these fixes lol
Thanks tor suggestions next time will do better ;-)
Thanks so much for the video! Took about 45 minutes to do, I wasn’t as fast as you in your video but you show the steps very well.
My coffee machine sounds like it’s brand new again!
(I don’t usually comment on videos but had to just to say thanks, you have saved me a lot of money just buying a bearing and not and new coffee machine!!!)
Thanks don't forget to subscribe ;)
No problem.
Thanks. I needed only the 2 minute mark showing the two retaining clips to release the top cover. Perfect.
Perfect, my Nespresso whirrs like crazy. Hopefully easy fix. Thank you for the video! I wish the first couple of steps were captured though.
Thank you so much!!! This worked amazingly well! Can’t believe how quiet the machine is now
This is Amazing! I just fixed my screaming Vertuo machine, and it's quiet like a new one! You are just a genius !
Glad it helped, subscribe fore more videos.
I also had a loose spring
which I saw you find and replace properly. This was also a big help. I replaced the bearing and my machine is running great.
Glad it helped!
Thank you!! Amazing video - almost threw the machine out it was so loud. Ended up going with not a stainless steel bearing but have 5 - so will see how long they last. Even if i have to do this every other month - worth it! Thanks again!
Glad it helped, Don't forget to subscribe.
LOCKED LID FIX
I'm one of those dolts ;-) who didn't watch the end of the video in detail; I thought he was just having a little trouble snapping the cap back on. Once again, I was reminded to watch the full video first, so you can flag sections like this. And read ALL the comments first. With 500-plus, I scanned down a bit, but somehow didn't notice the issues of people locking themselves out of their machines. D'oh! (I noticed the lever was off-center as I was closing it, and had an idle thought of whether I could live with it… then "click" and the realization that I was locked out. )
But as I write, I'm enjoying a great coffee after a week of pressed, made by my repaired (blessedly quiet) machine.
No one else has mentioned this particular fail, but I guess there had to be a first time. ;-)
The pins need to be turned counterclockwise to open position.
Thank you for saving me 😂
Mine is a bit more toward the crease than yours, but in the end your hole is in a better spot!
Glad it helped!
You are a ROCKSTAR for putting this repair out there for everyone
I have missed my Nespresso coffee!!
Good that it helped.
I did it! Watched your's & a few other videos, but kept coming back here. Ordered the bearings & performed the surgery quickly. The result was awesome! Noise was reduced to a whisper. I am thankful to you for your video which was very helpful.
You are welcome, don't forget to subscribe.
Thanks. Big help today. Was able to fix my handle, the two interior screws came loose and I was able to figure it out by watching your video.
Thank you very much, it worked!!! When I tested the old bearing it ran very smoothly and the new one was kind of "stiff" but just for the fun of it I used the new one. I thought it won't work, it's probably something else. BUT would you believe, it's running again. The 1/2" long metal pipe at the end silicone water feeding pipe came off, so when installing it into the hole, align the split-ring with the little "bump" in front of the platform ( very small)
Thanks again
I want to thank you. Your video was great ! Following your instructions was really easy to replace the bearing and now our machine "sounds" ( I must say does not sound) like new.
Wow! I am completely amazed. I followed your video step by step....SUCCESS! Many thanks!! I was ready to toss my Nespresso away if it didn't work, but you helped me save a couple hundred dollars! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Thanks.
Thank you was thinking about replacing machine!!! Ran several thousand coffees through ours before it started making noise but now it’s very very loud
Glad I could help!
Thanks man! This thing is shockingly quiet now. Couldn’t believe how loud it got!
No problem 👍
Glad it helped..
When reassembling, some steps RomaFix noted but deserve added emphasis:
1) 10:54 proper alignment of the 4-screw spring holder.
Good to know ..
The camera angle is also off and covers part of the front of the machine which is exactly what needs to be seen in better detail.
Glad that it helped. Subscribe ;-)
I’ve watched your video several times and I think I can fix my nespresso. Thanks for the instructions.
You can do it.
Thank you.. You helped me fix my machine...
Excellent video, very clear. Thank you for helping me extend the life of my Nespresso machine!
I had clicking noise with no water coming out and 2 blinks and pause nonstop. This worked ! Thank you so much :)
Thansk.
Thank you so much for your video! I changed the bearing and it works perfectly! I couldn’t have done it without your instruction!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. This is going to help a lot of people 🙂
I was looking for one and couldn't find, so made this one, if you like it don't forget to like and subscribe ;-)
My God what a difference!! You are a lifesaver
Yeah this is huge. My wife’s sounds like a GD jet engine on a F15 fighter pilot. Thank you very much!
Very welcome!
Worked Great! Thank you so much. I'd forgotten how quiet the machine used to be when it was new.
You're welcome!
Great video was able to fixed my issue with my Nespresso Vertuoline thank you so much.
Thank you SO much!!! I received the bearing from your link today and did the repair successfully. Machine runs great.
Perfect video thanks! That top tube was plugged with coffee grounds!
Thanks roman you've been very clear with your repair video were can we get wiring diagram from and flow charts thanks again for your support
Bearing was completely seized.
Cleaned the bearing and lubed it with olive oil
Works great again!
olive oil wouldn't resist for long bearing grease would be better.
Thank you!!! Saved my Nespresso. My water line was clogged in the tube that inserts into POD. I was able to clean everything and the bearing. Def made it a little harder not seeing the bottom half of the video during some of the video. I am grateful for your help.
Thanks.
Thank you for the video, we just followed it and worked great to fix our machine!
Great that you could fix it.
It worked! Got a little frustrated with some of the filming - like the springs that were cut off from the view 🤣
It's a little bit harder to manipulate with with it on camera but you understood the process )
Wow and thanks so much! This worked beautifully. No more airplanes in the kitchen!
You're welcome!
