No matter what theory ends up being true, the parents are still at fault for not taking her to a hospital when she was in extreme distress.
3minutes im curious as well as to why the particular drug isnt mentioned. Should it not be said what it was so that folks are aware? The boyfriend would know. Its just puzzling. Was she actually having a scitzofrenic mental break down or it she gifted or was it actually a drug?!
Easy for you to say, looking back in hindsight. Raising teenagers is an experience. I don't fault parents like I used to. Our children face issues we never dealt with.
YES!!
3minutes right. Even if she really didn’t need to be because she eventually would be okay again atleast she would feel safe🙄
I agree 1000% that night I would have taken my daughter to ER just the simple fact she took drugs that made her freak out. I would fear overdose or synthetic drugs but the hospital we would be going as soon as she got into that car!! That doesn't make sense to me.
"She became scared of the music" "She became scared of me (her boyfriend)" those two statements make me think of bad effects of a psilocybin trip. Music can sound daunting or warped in a busy environment and others can appear taller/lankier/sort of stretched out in height. Scary enough to say the least.
I think someone dosed her drink with lsd without her knowing! Sounds EXACTLY like a bad paranoid trip :o(
Out of character..rave pyscodelic shrooms ..hotel/motel. Home of the Good Shepherd/wellsprings and worked at Rainbow Foods at that time.
Just me..right. like ghb date rape drug
I agree that it was a psychedelic, but psilocybin wears off after a few hours. I feel this was more of an LSD trip as she was still lying wide eyed at 545 am...
No, she was on spice!! First time smoking it, you get extremely paranoid. If you get a bad batch it could last a couple hours, and if she wasn't taken care of, she could of gotten lost in the wilderness, or someone evil could have done something to her.
I want/need to know what happened in this case! It has been driving me crazy since the 1st time I heard about it. I hate unsolved cases! In every case, someone HAS to know what happened, and I wish they all would speak up. Karlie is so beautiful. I pray that wherever she is, she's happy and safe!❤
unfortunately she probably got s3x trafficked or is deceased
That step mom is super suspicious. And the step mom and father need to be charged with neglect for sure.
This happened to my friends sister. She took edibles and snapped. She was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia . This girl needed a hospital.
Captain Kennedy lol they’re just adding anecdotal experience, relax.
I know someone who had a psychotic episode after smoking weed. He unfortunately somehow fell into or jumped into our canal system, and was found a year later after they drained them. Terribly sad, I agree that she needed a hospital
The last time I tried pot, just a little bit, nothing really seemed to happen. Then I went to bed and about 3am I woke up from a dead sleep with this horrible feeling of panic. Absolutely no reason for it. It lasted about 2 minutes. I'm not sure if the pot had anything to do with it, but it never happened before or since. And I've never smoked pot again. I think some people can just have severe, unpredictable reactions to drugs.
every odd behaviour is not always mental illness...
agreed. I am a nurse working at a big hospital. and that's one of the biggest symptom of schizophrenia. so sad. why wound't her parents take their daughter to the ER?
It makes sense she left her phone at her house if she was supposedly scared and paranoid of her phone
Sarbear , true but she said she was with her until 6 am but wen 6am came the other guy was saying he saw her outside his shop
I didn't immediately think of that, good point
I hope they find this beautiful girl I’m pretty sure she got laced with either cocaine, dust or meth and is stuck on a permanent high 💔.
Good comment! The way kids are with there phones, it would be a red flag, yet with her suffering with some sort of psychosis, & she said she was afraid of her phone, that makes sense to me that she left it behind! I am a psychologist and cannabis psychosis can happen if it's the first time you have used cannabis or if it's been over a length of time, especially teenagers they are the most affected by smoking cannabis/psychosis, yet to me the way she's behaving the paranoia it could be a bad trip of LSD regardless of whatever has happened there , it would not cause her to go completely missing????????
Skye Connor they said she smoked something so lsd isn’t it. that’s why I was thinking her weed was laced with cocaine, meth, dust or she just smoked crack. her boyfriend didn’t do shit to help 💯 and her step mom should have taken her to the fucking hospital since she was acting weird in the car. they could’ve brought her to rehab n got her That stupid bitch knows something n isn’t saying the full story smh. She needs a polygraph, why is she so much more involved then her own mom on Instagram?
Im from the area where this happened and 4 years after, Karlie Guse's disappearance still seems surreal to me. I still remember my science teacher from middle school had kept science projects over the years, and when I turned in mine (a DNA strain recreation if you must know) I got to see previous projects from the past classes. The absolute chills I got when I grabbed one, pulled it closer to me and saw the name. It was Karlie's project from a few years back. Her brother is also just a year below me. Knowing that she was once part of our community and disappeared without it being solved doesn't seem legit to me. I hope and pray her family finds closure to what really happened to her.
You told us what your project was but not *hers* *?*
@@erkl8823 all of the projects on the counter were dna strains, ig the only difference was that hers was much much more well done than mine considering it was kept by our teacher
@@alej.5704 Oh, gotchya, cool, thanks for the reply
what do people there think about what happened to Karlie?
@@lana4300 we think her mom and dad covered up their own negligence and she died in that house of an overdose. And in town I can know she did LSD possibly synthetic, not marijuana. It’s off too her parents had concrete slab poured less than a week after she went missing.
As someone who went through addiction in my younger years, I can personally vouch that there were MANY times I came home completely off my face, paranoid, and even horribly sick and was not taken to the hospital. If she really did have a history of this and especially if it was from smoking weed at a party, I understand why they just wanted to calm her down and get her to sleep.
As someone who was in a similar situation, I still don’t buy it. If your daughter is clearly unwell and telling you she’s not sure what she took, you take her to the hospital if only to know exactly what is in her system. I’m not a parent, but I have a feeling I’d take that situation much more seriously than they did.
I agree. I think the parents did not want her to get into more trouble with the law. I can’t imagine how guilty the parents feel 😔
This, i bet the parents knew she just smoked too much and it caught her off guard. Nothing to do but to wait for the horrible panic attack to go away, food helps, and best of all is xanax or a different benzo. It immediately brings you down to a calm rational state
@@DeeP-_PerspectivE So even though they had no idea what was actually causing her to panic, they should put more, stronger prescription drugs into her system?
@@flexibleskedule YES regardless if it was psychosis caused by some psychadelic she took, or a high dose of stimulants a dose of xanax would HELP and in most cases completely bring her back down to reality. There is no danger and negative to it, all that bs about mixing drugs is non sense.
I am horrified by the lack of action by her father. He is her father. He seemingly left all decisions with step mom. WTF? Their first action should have been take her to the hospital as soon as they saw the state she was in. And certainly after she told them she had ingested a drug.
You have little to no information as to what actually happened. Your opinion means nothing. They would have had her come down and sent her home and then CPS would have tormented that family for years afterwords. All because their child lied to the to go do drugs at a party.
Karlie's odd behavior started before she took the drug. She thought she was being tracked. Frankly, I know somone who has paranoid schizophrenia which started when she was around Karlie's age. She also ran from her family but she was found and treated. I hope Karlie is still out there somewhere.
What do you expect? Failed marriage with first wife and found another woman.
Yes
There didn't seem to be much information as where he was. Did he work nights? Was he there? It doesn't address that.
The strangest thing for me is why the stepmom is livestreaming everything
that’s not weird to me as getting attention is so, so important.
mono county has 14k people so kinda small
melissas facebook has a good amount of those people
so not only are people in the county aware, they would know her and could look out for her as well and spread the word
It’s like a search party basically.
I get why it might be weird if you’ve never experienced that but i don’t think it is
What’s her Facebook name?
She recorded it not lived stream.
Sometimes it's a good thing so that they can get the information spread that she's missing etc and more likely to find her.
Karen Tucker she did live streams too though.
This story is so sad 😞 there were so many times in the story where I wished she would have gotten help, but I don’t deny that her parents probably tried to help her.
Very sad, one of the most sad factors is now there’s thousands of people online playing RUclips detective. Tearing the mom up for every single thing she did or said. From my pov the mom definitely helped her, she didn’t take her to hospital bc she assumed it was just a bad drugs trip and it’ll pass. I feel so bad for the mother, 100% she blamed herself
Thank you for posting this story. So sad for everyone not knowing what happened to Karlie. I'm not sure I like the format of relating what is said on FB or other social media platforms. So many people on those sites tend to fling accusations, offer opinions or made up suspicions without any proof, that are in no way based on facts.
there was a disclaimer these claims could not be verified, but are important enough pieces of the story to bring them up. it's up to the audience to make their minds up. think for yourself, and stop mindlessly consuming media.
That's only because you didn't follow the case closely. Research helps one to be able to decide who has actual information and those who didn't.
Lots of confirmed facts came out in discussions on youtube, facebook, reddit and other formats.
I'm so sad for Karlie and her natural mother, period.
@@marylamb9708 I did not say no attention should be paid to what is posted on social media but that I'm not sure I like them telling us about the posts since it is not told if what they relayed to us was proven accurante or not.
@@luciebrisson5881 The creators left a disclaimer that it was the viewer to decide.
They also presented views of the parents. I found it very balanced, even though much was left out.
Karlie's parents did her a disservice. Should have taken her to the hospital.
well said
Some one murdered her!
@@sandrakimberlin5027 humm it's possible just seems like the boyfiend knows more than what he said ! denying that a party was on looks very sus to me ! .......... however it is also possible she got lost on her own accord when she got dissorintatied . it is also possible she could just be livin on the streets somwhere or maybe got picked up or maybe the boyfriend killed her by accident ? it is hard to say since we don't have all the facts .
Who is not wise after the fact!
Karlie is alive! I’ll give you a hint: Natasha Ryan. Do a Search on her. I was part of the Investivation for awhile. Law enforcement aren’t doing their job.
This case sounds more like she was at or in a state of schizophrenia triggered by the drug she used or was using.
Exactly what I was thinking
She was at the age that it usually rears its ugly head too
Age of onset for females for a psychotic disorder is usually late 20s, early 30s, so unlikely. This sounds like posh/k2/synthetic marijuana.
@@indy-fs6de There can be some variability as to the age on onset of psychotic disease, but this really seems more like a reaction to a drug that also includes dilated pupils.
@GREG Hubbard How about the fact that some neighbor see Karlie walk that morning?
I don't believe that Karlie's father will let his daughter being abused by her stepmom and not tell anything about that.
This is truly on of the most puzzling stories I’ve ever heard. I feel like there is a lot of variable that we’re very inconsistent and all around just strange. No hospital trip, stories changing, not enough questioning of the people around her - boyfriend, step mom, etc. It’s all just weird, and seems wrong in so many ways.
Sadly my parents would be the type to ignore this kind of behavior and just call you crazy.
Often, schizophrenia doesn't show up until teenage or, and mainly, adult years. Whatever drug she did at the party could've triggered it full blown. It truly sounds like a psychotic break and if that's the case, she may have fled due to feeling in danger and/or hallucinating. However, I'm suspicious of Melissa.
Stories like this frustrate me - her actions in the weeks before she disappeared were classic psychosis symptoms and often this symptoms start during the teen years. When people act like this it’s important to take it seriously and get them help
Jut said pretty much the same above, my cousin also had what the family euphemistically called an episode he was in treatment within 24hrs and was later diagnosed with schizophrenia.. The way she was paranoid and thinking people were out to get her was exactly how he was carrying on.. After treatment he got back to somewhat normal although as soon as he stops taking his meds it's the same rambling paranoia all over again..
Yes I was thinking that she was showing huge signs of psychosis and or schizophrenia. Of course whatever she took at that party made it worse but she should have definitely been taken to the hospital way before this party even happened
It can be indicative of uncapped schizophrenia too, as psychedelics and marijuana can uncap previously underlying mental disorders such as schizophrenia and anxiety.
Agreed. And drug use can off set off underlying issues.
@@kristanner3933 not all drugs, just psychedelic substances.
Why would you go sleep if they’re that paranoid I’d be up all night making sure they’re ok
Agree... As a Mom who HAS done that exact thing... Up watching over a son who was in a Bad Way after taking God Only Knows What... Monitoring his vitals etc... He did sleep most of the time but during short periods of wakefulness, he was not combative or wanting to go anywhere, but he needed watching over... 💙
I'm that circumstance , you don't know what you'd do.
Exactly. I did this for a stranger in Vietnam, who I heard at her hotel room telling a porter that the doctor they sent had touched her inappropriately. She was so distressed so I offered her shelter in my room. She had had her drink spiked at a home visit dinner she had gone on and somehow managed to get back to her hotel room. Then asked for help and they sent a doctor who groped her. Her pupils were so dilated and she was definitely on something. I told her funny stories about me doing drugs and coming down from them as she was really scared she would never come down. I made her laugh and took her mind off the fact she was on drugs. I had had a bad trip long ago, when I was doing stupid stuff and knew what to do. My boyfriend was out drinking with a friend we made but we had three beds in our room and I told her she could stay. I also heard her calling her mum in England, distraught, and so I told her to call her back and I spoke to her. I reassured her by telling her all my details and that I was an Australian High School teacher etc. THEN...I stayed up all night with her!!!! My man returned at some stage and told her he would take care of the guy in the morning. Which he did. She travelled with us for several days until she had her mojo back and I knew she was safe. She was a lot younger than me and a very inexperienced traveller. Most people are not to be trusted but I’m just glad she trusted me, that I was nosey and that she was safe. Sorry for the essay.
@@tammyiswicked she was lucky to have met you. I always think about this girl I saw at a rave in the bathroom freaking out I gave her some water and told her it was okay and that seemed to help a tiny bit but I should have done more I just didn't know what at the time.

It definitely reminds me to cherish life and to be careful with it because you never know what can happen.
Thank you telling such a detailed story. New facts on this case I've never heard.
She went to my school. I didn’t really know her, but she was a grade above me and I remember seeing her around. It’s really surreal, seeing her face on posters around town and knowing that she’s now just another unsolved mystery for people to speculate about.
She should have graduated high school this year. I really hope they find out what happened to her someday so we can all get closure, because it’s bad enough for those of us who didn’t know her and I can’t imagine what her friends and family must be going through.
Is there any updates
i hope one day everyone will know but i dont believe that will ever happen.....it sounds like when she took off walking the wrong person saw her and the state she was in and she was easy pickens for them.

@@jesicabooth9843 wtf you're right lol, I guess I just said the step mom cause she was the one "dealing" with the brunt of what was going on but facts... I'm gonna edit my comment lol 👍
Because the finger is being pointed at the step mom bc she was the most involved at the time of the disappearance and if she would’ve done more then this wouldn’t have happened & maybe her dad was working maybe her dad wasn’t there, regardless she should be held accountable bc she is the one ☝🏽 who was there and dealing with the teenager at that time & her story keeps changing bc she didn’t get this child the help she needed!! Hi Shar Crum I really love your comment can we chat and know ourselves more
I'm a mum, and I don't know that I would have taken her to hospital either, unless she had a seizure. Years ago we used to be able to call the on-call doctor at your practice, which is something I would have done.
It really is bizarre how in this day and age people can just vanish.
Well Said. All these theories drive me mad.Parents thought they could cope, and she would settle down by next day.
Honestly, people want this story to end with a twist but I think it’s much more likely that Karlie got into a state of drug induced psychosis, wandered off and possibly died. She had a history with drugs and due to her age and size, she could’ve easily taken more than she could handle, even if she was experienced. Also, the behavior of her family members is actually not that strange, people can react to trauma in unsettling ways, her stepmom and boyfriend seemingly like the attention, which might make them unsymphatetic but is not a sign of guilt. The changes in their stories could be due to trying to make themselves look better because they mishandled the situation and probably feel bad for not taking Karlie more seriously. The mom attacking the stepmom is even more common, tons of families fall to pieces and start blaming each other after these kinds of events, looking for the person responsible for their loved one’s death. This is a very tragic story for everyone involved and I hope that one day they get the closure they deserve.
Good point.
Well said. Sad but I would imagine this happens all the time. Everyone Including myself took dangerous substances. Most survive and a few don't.
@@wormemc yes, i also had a drug induced psychosis once, so i know how irrational and paranoid it can make you. it seems very plausible for me that someone in that state would just mindlessly try to run away. i was like that for a week and every day i wanted to kill myself.

Taking to social media creates more problems than it helps. Word wars are immature, speculative, rumour-inducing and "right" fighting.
As someone who was stuck in a similar state for 3 months+, I can assure you she was dealing with a drug induced psychosis. Unfortunately she was super young. Nobody that hasn’t experienced this or someone with this will know how to help. The hospital is necessary to make it back to reality.
sometimes people are just too far gone to make it back. and it's incredibly tragic. I had a cousin who suffered a psychotic break after her twins were born. she was never the same. the family tried to get her the best help possible, but she was in too deep to be saved.
@@ashleymarks3726 I only experienced 3 months of it but I can understand what too far gone may look like. For me it was faith and faith doesn’t work the same for everyone. I’m going to have to do some research as to why child birth causes so much psychological damage as a by product to child birth.

This channel has come a long way!
I mean. I’m not a parent.. but I’m having a hard time understanding how a parent could let their child go through something like this without taking them to get help. Especially knowing the child took a substance, which god knows what it could have been laced with. Doesn’t sit right with me🧐
They don't care about her that's y they didnt took her to a hospital.
@@ARJUN-SS for real, i think all this strange family saying they love her etc...i dnt think so it looks like they dont give a shit
If you paid attention then you'd notice that karlie had already been smoking this weird substance previously and even attempted counseling, and she never showed these symptoms before which would be reasonable to not take her to an hospital. This can only mean that the two substances were different and not the usual ones used by normal teenagers, and since karlie specifically said that she smoked the substance, this could only mean that she knew it herself that her behavior was somehow related to this weird substance. Idk how could their parents miss something like that but then again, i feel like there really are very low chances that her disappearnce was caused by her parents as everything that happened after the phone call from the party was told by melissa, which means that she could have easily altered the story from the start to never make her suspicious. My theory is that melissa is responsible for negligence and her disappearance by not taking her to an hospital early on but not directly connected to the disappearance
@@helo9316 honestly I think originally she was smoking regular weed which is very unlikely to cause symptoms ( recent studies on how marijuana effects the brain and mental health )like that I believe she could’ve taken acid or smoked K2 ( which is a wild ass drug ) or pcp or she could’ve smoked weed laced with a psychoactive drug because I feel like it would’ve mentioned if the time she which got her suspended was as bad as this time and if she had the same reaction. I do agree that the stepmother was negligent in not bringing her to the hospital in that state of mind. I’m a person who smokes weed every day and occasionally trips on shrooms if I were to take something and have this reaction I hope that whoever is with me would bring me to a hospital because this is almost beyond a bad trip thinking your own parents are going to murder you in your sleep I’ve had a bad trip here and there and been paranoid as hell thinking my ex was going to come to my house but never to that extreme this sounds like she was under some major psychoactive drug and potentially even ecstasy or ketamine.
i mean if that happened to me, my mom would’ve calmed down and do that motherly care-taking behavior. if she saw that i wasn’t calming down after 24 hours, then she would take me to the hospital. but everyone is different i guess.
Sounds like schizophrenia to me. It usually manifests at this age, and drug use will push a schizophrenic over the edge. She probably ran away and was picked up by a bad stranger. So sad.
You'd be surprised how fast strangers stop for girls. When I was 19 or so I had a tank top with my window down with my car on the shoulder within a minute a car stopped and asked if I needed help (to his shock I was a guy!) I have long hair so I imagined he thought I was a girl.

The fact that they let this TEENAGER with a substance abuse history go to a party. Then pick her up from the party while distressed, and bringing her home in a highly intoxicated state and not taking her to a hospital is the most irresponsible thing any adult much less a parent could do.

Right?? And if she woke up and saw her daughter wide awake for hours with persistent paranoia.. why the fuck would she go back to bed???
Yea...they probably thought she was just going to get it out of her system n everything would just pass
Immediately I thought why wouldn't her step mom have called the Police and taken her straight to the hospital? As things unfolded and we discover that she had obviously been a substance user before who was suspended from school and in counselling for it, I wondered if it was done to 'protect' the daughter from authorities. I don't know what the laws are regarding children and substance abuse, is there like a 3 strikes and you're out system that would have meant Karlie would have been removed from the family home? Would that have been her 3rd strike? If that's the case you could kind of understand the step mom wanting to deal with it herself. However, why was it left to the step mom? Where is the father in all of this that night? One of them should have been with her at her bedside all night and until she was completely recovered from the intoxication. Another thing is why kids are allowed to continue the lives that have brought them to a bad place - mobile phones, social media, going out with their 'friends'. Going back to when it was first discovered that she was using substances, they need to stop. Cut all ties with all friends until they can weed out the source of the supply. No mobile phone, no social media, no visits to friends, no unchaperoned outings. Everything stops. Call it re-hab. Sad that she was led astray and her parents enabled it. Poo

What did you write?
Fallon Estrello well it’s easy to say that when you know the ending. Teens have episodes like that not all the time but it does happen and once the drugs wear off they end up being fine. If it’s super unusual it’s of course best to be safe and get help but I can see why they wouldn’t. I’m not a parent tho so I’m not sure what the “parent mind” would say ab it.
Can you imagine being the mom. Daughter most likely went into some kind of schizophrenia triggered by the drugs. Literally happens all the time. Now every single move the mom made, any instance where she misspoke automatically gets seen as deliberate and hiding something bad. Her daughter was missing… that mom was a wreck and people can’t grasp how she could have remembered things incorrectly. No doubt that mom blames herself, living life in a mental hell with thousands of people online saying she did it. Lol Sometimes the internet is the worst.
The dad got arrested for domestic violence last year. Definitely something weird going on here.
i think it’s important to note that she went missing on a highway that goes across the entire country. if someone picked her up she could be anywhere. please share her missing poster.
If she was so paranoid that she did not even trust her own parents I doubt this girl would have gone with a stranger willingly. The way she was acting I don't think she would have let a stranger even get close to her .

Psychosis is fucking terrifying, until you have seen someone you know go through it, you won't understand

1st time, 15 years ago, my brother got his hands on some bad meth, he pulled skin off his arm while he walked almost 20 miles into the foothills, so lucky it wasn't summer. He came out of it and was super scared, he thought he was kidnapped, police helped us figure out by asking farmers in the area and of course found out he walked past all the orchards.
2nd time, 2 years ago this guy(I bbqed, he just stopped by) was stressing about his ex and was eating tabs, I kept asking,
"Hey man, are you sure you aren't over doing it?"
"No I take this much all the time".
2 more tabs later and Christopher Walken dancing through a mall has him freaking out about a gov takeover??
He started getting grabby and violent so i told him to leave. 10pm, he walks out screaming he is God, the neighbors made it worse and I had to call the police ... He couldn't see or hear me but he was seeing someone else. It took 8 police for that 130 pounder and he didn't remember any of it.

In my case, I think it was because i was on antidepressants and drank a lot of alcohol, when it happened. I´m also mentally vulnerable.
I felt like i couldn´t breathe, and made it hard for me to breathe. I blamed my mates for poisioning me. I forgot all the time. I looked into the sky and prayed some. It felt like someone was watching me all the time. I told my friends to call 911. I was scared like a little girl all the time...

When I was around 12 years old I smoked weed that was laced with something and I felt like I was in a Nintendo world and I was super paranoid. I was down by a river on some train tracks and walked home which was about a half an hour away...but seeing this, I realize how dangerous that decision was, and I realize I'm lucky I made it home safely. If only kids could truly understand all the dangers of drugs. 😔
Jenna Hernandez I had a similar episode as well... freaked the eff out..I still feel that nervous fear when I remember
People are searching for some grander conspiracy here when really I suspect that she just had a psychotic episode and tried to remove herself from the viscinity of the imaginary danger she feared. I've had family members with forms of psychosis, the majority of them at some point followed the same pattern of first becoming scared of being tracked (especially by electronics), then having an extreme reaction before resorting to vanish in the night. Luckily none of them were permanently harmed yet if things ended up a little bit differently I might've had a similar case on my hands.
People accusing the stepmom really have no idea. The sheer amounts of terror from seeing family members going missing is traumatizing to the point that even seeing their clothes is triggering. So it makes sense that she might confuse small details, for example she might've worn jeans when first arriving home yet switched into undergarments and a shirt at home. Accusing her boyfriend or any other members of her family are just results of people's discomfort with the idea of a crime with only victims and no perpretrator, something completely random and even possibly avoidable. Truly tragic.
Unfortunately for a small portion of the population even marijuana can cause a mental break down. As a hunter myself I don't think people realize just how easy it is to get hopelessly lost in the woods especially after dark. You can be sure you are walking in the right direction and walk miles and miles into the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately this happens more then anyone would likely admit. I feel like this could be one of those situations. Because of tree cover wooded areas can be extremely hard to search you can walk just feet away from something and have no clue just ask anyone who has tracked a dead deer only to realize it was feet from where they were standing.
i absolutely agree except for the fact that densely wooded areas around there are miles up the white mountains behind it and its not easy to even get that far. i am a local resident. however there are mineshafts galore and i unfortunately wasnt a participant in the search so i cant say how well they actually looked.

It's a huge stretch that the step mom embellished a few details before the girl disappeared, so she what? Killed her? That is insane.
Drug Induced Psychosis is one of the most terrifying things you can experience as a usually healthy person.
Fcuk, yea! I had many different acid trips- some mega amazing, some super weird, & some (not many thou) not so good or outright bad, but one was just pure hard core horror to such a degree that i’ve never dared to do trip again- it was 13 yrs ago.
The worst parents. She clearly was on drugs or having a mental breakdown and they didn’t take her to the ER? What if she was overdosing? They either had something to do with it or, at the very least, they’re guilty of child neglect.
You don't know, your judging them.
@@Brandi.65 um honey, karlie herself told them to take her to the hospital and they refused, that considered child abuse, because that counts as not caring for your child’s well-being
What good would that do? They might sedate her but more likely than not it would just be a question of having someone stay close to her until whatever it was she took wore off. So might as well keep her in familiar safe surroundings.
Lol alot of people are killed in hospital by ignorant morons with the title of dr.s and nurses
Maybe they were worried about Karlie getting in trouble for using an illegal substance. But yeah, a child in trouble with the law is still better than one that's missing or dead.
Finally a channel about this stuff where the narrator isn't trying to sound 'creepy'. Sold ❤
Those who tried drugs and had bad trip perhaps can imagine what happens to her
Exactly this - This one's seems pretty clear. I've done a bunch of drugs in the past and also had pretty bad Anxiety. I remember once I took an especially strong weed cake (or something) which had me pretty much in a mental panic for over a month, verging on the edge of full blown psychosis (in hindsight, was 100% anxiety but I felt like I was going insane). Seems like whatever she took brought about some mental instability, she took a walk to calm down (reading her therapy notes possibly to ease her mind) got lost and is likely dead somewhere due to natural causes.
Nothing i've seen from the step mom is weird to me, shifting stories could be her trying to rationalise wtf happened and how she could have just disappeared.
Especially if it was cold and snowing and she wasn’t dressed appropriately.
Yeah, even weed, which is meant to be relaxing (in most cases, there are some strains where "energetic" is the main benefit), can induce psychosis in a small percent of the population. That's why you always have to be careful and start with low, beginner doses, then you slowly raise the amount. But, I'm just upset her parents saw her in such a state of panic and chose not to bring her to the hospital. Maybe the hospital could've given her something to calm her down. I've had panic attacks before, I've had anxiety for no reason, and psychosis is *several* steps up from that. I can't even imagine... They should've at least watched her more closely. Taken shifts to make sure she was still in the house. But ig its easy to see what someone should've done in hindsight.

Her fear of being tracked could be early signs of schizophrenia and so could explain why she ran away during the party

It was probably a psychedelic. Shrooms and acid will make you act the way they described if taken in high doses, or not pure.
And she was scared of the music at the party and her boyfriend it was like she knew people then she didn't and in and out of that
Yeah but the boyfriend was saying on his facebook page that there was no party?
This sounds exactly like my brother's first schizophrenic psychological break. Especially with the spitting out of food! I tried to get my brother to drink orange juice and he spit it out telling me it was poison. I finally had to call him an ambulance when he tried to pull out his own eyeball.. worst night of my life. I remember praying so badly that we'd find that he was just on drugs.. it felt so bad to wish my brother was on drugs..
If this family had been as smart as you and called an ambulance, Carly would still be alive.
@The Drabblecast it's so hard to know what the right thing to do when you have no frame of reference because this has never happened before. I basically only called 911 because I watched him be unable to sleep for 72 hours while devolving into word salad and I just hoped they'd give him something to sleep and he'd be fine. He wasn't fine.. but it was still the only thing I could do.
My sister was diagnosed with schizophrenia as well. But we knew what was going on because my grandmother had it and knew it was genetic and figured one of us would get it unfortunately. She was around 19-20 when it started. She was saying similar things like her shampoo was messed with, someone was trying to poison her and she also kept saying she had diseases like mad cow disease and aids. She was very very paranoid. Medicine and therapy is the only thing that can somewhat help this disease. Thankfully she was never the aggressive kind. More depressive and bipolar kind. Trying to overdose on caffeine pills and having frequent suicide thoughts. I had a son four years ago. She is pretty close with him. And after my son was born , she got a lot better. It wasn’t until he was a little older though. That she got better. They interact a lot and play and I think he is a nice distraction for her. It’s nice seeing him ease her mind and give her something to care and worry about about other then herself and her mental health. I hope one day your brother gets better and stays better. If he isn’t already. It’s the worst mental disease you can have. I wouldn’t wish it on my worse enemy . And it’s also hard having to watch your family member go through it and realize there’s nothing you can personally do for them to help them . Only medicine and not just any meds the right ones and the right dosing and kind, and therapy , can help them. It’s a tricky disease . One that they will forever deal with . It’s truly sad
@@amberd.883 is he ok now? ❤
@Your_Friendly_Robloxian that's a complicated answer. Technically yes. He just got married to the woman who said she'd leave him if he didn't take his diagnosis seriously and get on drugs and get therapy. So he's getting help for what sent him to the hospital but now he's completely codependent on his wife and has cut me out of his life. So it appears he's "better," but I don't know for sure because I'm no longer in his life.
This one stays with you. I never bought into the scenario of the step mother being involved in her disappearance, not for a minute. Should she have taken Karlie to the ER? Yes. Would Karlie have gone willingly? I don't think so. There's really only 2 scenarios for me (keeping in mind how remote the location was); it was an opportunistic crime by someone who saw her as they were driving by, or she was completely out of it, was dehydrated and disoriented and got lost out there and succumbed to the elements. Perhaps her remains will be stumbled upon one day.
She took too much, maaaaaan! She took too much, too much!
I'm conflicted. Trailer park party? Must be meth but you can't rule out mis-dosage of lsd (like a 10 strip for your first experience, not smart) or some designer drug you can't remember the name of on Erowid. Swim said there's something called 25i that's been hitting the scene. Swim said the strength of the stuff is pretty all over the place.
When she said "She really fucked up" earlier that night was the alarm bell I needed to hear. I can't tell you how many times Swim took just a bit too much of a psychedelic and said the same thing.
The step-mother had nothing to do with it.
So, coulda been meth, coulda been a psychedelic. Take your pick.
I say meth 👍
I'm thinking something like PCP. Have a close relative that used to have drug-induced schizophrenia when they took that mess--hiding from widows, running around, screaming that people were looking for them, absolutely madness; difference here is, we hospitalized him and he was able to get treatment. I really can't understand why they wouldn't take her to the hospital with this type of behavior and after her admitting drug use (especially since she was only 16 years old!)
Went schizo for a few hours because of mdma (thankfully went away), and heard stories of acquaintances also developing drug induced Psychosis cause of too much hash.
Could have been spice since they said she smoked it. Too bad they wont release what it was so that it can help other parents.
The thing is though, she is basically been up all night and had to be exhausted, and had to be coming down somewhat from the trip, so for her to walk far enough in the desert where a massive search and rescue operation for days and never found a single shred of evidence is super suspicious
Exactly how can she just disappear like that.
The scuffle her real Mom heard on the tape & the Step Mom's changing stories & car washing, shriek accidental death covered up. Maybe she hit her head in the scuffle. Maybe what she took killed her if it was spiked, as this video says.

Right? My sister came home hysterical one new years eve. I couldn't calm her at all so I checked she had underwear on called 111 (New Zealand emergency) and my mum and dad. She spent the night in hospital after being drugged and chased home. She was so lucky! But shows how easy these things happen 😞
I had an experience with a family member who was in the same situation as her. I knew something wasn't right so I took them into the er for an emergency evaluation. It's always better to be safe then sorry. It can mean life or death for your family member or friend. Please take care of those you love when they can't or will not do it their self. I'm not blaming the family but if it was one of my daughter's I would have took her to the hospital.
As an ER Nurse, I don't want your Marijuana high kids to babysit, the parents did the responsible thing initially, staying with their kid who used mj. The expectations were it would pass. As her behaviour escalated as time went by, then it's time to bring her to hospital for assessment and blood tests to determine what drugs she actually took, and then treatment given based on evidence. If this was a sudden psychotic break due to mental illness vs drug abuse then mental health gets involved, otherwise they stay in the ER while the treatments are given. Mental health cannot handle medically unstable patients. But I'm sure Dad wasn't a stranger to drug use in his youthfulness and likely saw this as a bad trip that would pass. Inattention, misjudgement, after the initial hours perhaps, but intentional harm, nah.

Poor girl, psychosis is absolutely terrifying to experience. It may well have not been laced and she was just extra sensitive to the "trippy" effects of such a substance as weed, which can most definitely cause one to end up in psychiatric care. I wish she had been taken to hospital, though I do understand why they might be hesitant to. It can be frightening but in this case she'd likely be home safe and sound now and receiving treatment for any lasting effects. It's fascinating how the mind works, or doesn't, and how some are affected by certain things and others not. Stress and/or lack of sleep alone can cause psychosis, so it's no wonder she got worse as time went on, being too scared to sleep while under extreme stress. The writing on paper.... It's possible she was writing down thoughts, perhaps revelations or secrets. It's amazing what the mind can make sense of during such a state, which when back to "normal" is cringe-worthy ramblings or plain nonsense. :>

If you are going to try psychedelics, make sure you have a babysitter (a buddy) to monitor you so they can make sure you're having a safe trip.
And another thing, please do not use psychedelics excessively. They WILL fry your brain.
Ok boomer 👍
Not just a babysitter. Never try any drug for the first time at a party. Always be in a safe comfortable place with a few good friends. And no psychedlics will not "fry your brain"
@@Abby-tk4vv for certain people yes it absolutely will fry their brain, so please do not outright dispute my knowledge of the subject unless you have an argument to back it up.
Psychedelics, or more specifically synthetic man-made psychedelics like LSD can fry your braincells if you overuse, or if you have genes that are more prone to developing a schizophrenic disorder. That is how my dad developed schizophrenia, and yes, it is terrifying, and it eventually killed him.
@justhellbound4206 When someone says "Fry your brain" I think of permanent brain damage which LSD does not do even when used excessively. I guess you could say developing HPPD or schizophrenia as a result is frying your brain though. It is a risk but extremely rare. This is a topic that bothers me because psychedelics are wildly misunderstood. MDMA can definetly fry your brain and I would never compare the effects of MDMA on the brain to psychedelics. "Frying your brain" from my perspective, means permanently altering your state of mind. I didn't necessarily mean brain damage.
But I really think it depends on the person taking them and their genetic background. But hey, I'm not a scientist and could genuinely be wrong. Just everything that I've seen my dad go through and everything I've been told from my buddies who have a hefty drug history, have lined up with the lack of moderation and discipline while partaking in psychedelics.
Again I could be wrong, I'm not an expert. But as far as I'm aware, this is what has made the most sense to me.
Why is she livestreaming about this instead of getting the authorities involved!?!?! Weird. She's crooked.
She literally has all kinds of authorities involved in this case. It is possible for investigations and livestreams to go on at the same time.
Yes because I’m a mother and would rather be calling the cops instead of streaming live on the internet
She wouldn't take her phone if she thought it was trying to kill her.
It’s not irrational to think someone is following your phone! Today it’s a normal!
The controversy around the attendance by Karlye and her boyfriend is perhaps a misunderstanding of what was meant when the word "party" was overheard of or written in a text.
Party could be interpreted as "a party" noun, or "going to party" verb. This is just something I thought should be considered because of the drug use described in the case.
The thing she wrote was obviously important to her. It was the only thing she brought when she left. Very strange everything.
@@DarkAngel71180 Why be rude? Scroll.
If she had schizophrenia this would be completely normal.
@@elisebarthalow6075 I think her mental state has to do with whatever drug was taking. Probably K-2 not weed.
I've seen teens on k-2 and it's horrible. They are very paranoid and think of off the wall scenarios. They are petrified of just about everything. Idk why the parents didn't take her to the hospital. I think they did something to her.
When the dogs couldn't find anything, I immediately thought of her getting picked up for trafficking. So sad. With multiple witnesses seeing her out walking, I don't think she died at home.
reality is so horrifying...
Yeah ... the trafficking epidemic is so awful and common .. so that possibility is present .. sentences are way too light for traffickers 20 years min should be sentence as it includes kidnapping, imprisonment, rape, drugging others , assault , and often murder .. any judge or law enforcement person who doesn’t KNOW that is either dumber than a box of rocks or involved in it ..
Don’t you think early In the morning like that , there would be a more than just a couple witnesses seeing her on the highway ?? & if she did fall victim to trafficking, then someone had to have seen someone grab a girl on the highway...idk just my thought
Maybe her parents were involved in the sex trafficking. Suck people in this world.
@@johncorson6599 It's not a trafficking epidemic, it's an epidemic of people suddenly calling every unsolved mystery human trafficking for some reason even though there's no evidence of that in pretty much every case.
My brother almost did the same thing. He was acting strange for months before he disappeared. Found in the desert 11 days later. He was 23.
the stepmom clearly did it. clearly. very obvious. no innocent person would change their story so much. if you care about someone you will absolutely make sure you get those details right. trust me she did it!
