"She became scared of the music" "She became scared of me (her boyfriend)" those two statements make me think of bad effects of a psilocybin trip. The last time I tried pot, just a little bit, nothing really seemed to happen. Then I went to bed and about 3am I woke up from a dead sleep with this horrible feeling of panic. Absolutely no reason for it. It lasted about 2 minutes. I'm not sure if the pot had anything to do with it, but it never happened before or since. And I've never smoked pot again. The way kids are with there phones, it would be a red flag, yet with her suffering with some sort of psychosis, & she said she was afraid of her phone, that makes sense to me that she left it behind! I am a psychologist and cannabis psychosis can happen if it's the first time you have used cannabis or if it's been over a length of time, especially teenagers they are the most affected by smoking cannabis/psychosis, yet to me the way she's behaving the paranoia it could be a bad trip of LSD regardless of whatever has happened there , it would not cause her to go completely missing????????

Im from the area where this happened and 4 years after, Karlie Guse's disappearance still seems surreal to me. I still remember my science teacher from middle school had kept science projects over the years, and when I turned in mine (a DNA strain recreation if you must know) I got to see previous projects from the past classes. The absolute chills I got when I grabbed one, pulled it closer to me and saw the name. It was Karlie's project from a few years back. Her brother is also just a year below me. Knowing that she was once part of our community and disappeared without it being solved doesn't seem legit to me. I hope and pray her family finds closure to what really happened to her.

Exactly. I did this for a stranger in Vietnam, who I heard at her hotel room telling a porter that the doctor they sent had touched her inappropriately. She was so distressed so I offered her shelter in my room. She had had her drink spiked at a home visit dinner she had gone on and somehow managed to get back to her hotel room. Then asked for help and they sent a doctor who groped her. Her pupils were so dilated and she was definitely on something. I told her funny stories about me doing drugs and coming down from them as she was really scared she would never come down. I made her laugh and took her mind off the fact she was on drugs. I had had a bad trip long ago, when I was doing stupid stuff and knew what to do. My boyfriend was out drinking with a friend we made but we had three beds in our room and I told her she could stay. I also heard her calling her mum in England, distraught, and so I told her to call her back and I spoke to her. I reassured her by telling her all my details and that I was an Australian High School teacher etc. THEN...I stayed up all night with her!!!! My man returned at some stage and told her he would take care of the guy in the morning. Which he did. She travelled with us for several days until she had her mojo back and I knew she was safe. She was a lot younger than me and a very inexperienced traveller. Most people are not to be trusted but I’m just glad she trusted me, that I was nosey and that she was safe. Sorry for the essay.

Honestly, people want this story to end with a twist but I think it’s much more likely that Karlie got into a state of drug induced psychosis, wandered off and possibly died. She had a history with drugs and due to her age and size, she could’ve easily taken more than she could handle, even if she was experienced. Also, the behavior of her family members is actually not that strange, people can react to trauma in unsettling ways, her stepmom and boyfriend seemingly like the attention, which might make them unsymphatetic but is not a sign of guilt. The changes in their stories could be due to trying to make themselves look better because they mishandled the situation and probably feel bad for not taking Karlie more seriously. The mom attacking the stepmom is even more common, tons of families fall to pieces and start blaming each other after these kinds of events, looking for the person responsible for their loved one’s death. This is a very tragic story for everyone involved and I hope that one day they get the closure they deserve.

If you paid attention then you'd notice that karlie had already been smoking this weird substance previously and even attempted counseling, and she never showed these symptoms before which would be reasonable to not take her to an hospital. This can only mean that the two substances were different and not the usual ones used by normal teenagers, and since karlie specifically said that she smoked the substance, this could only mean that she knew it herself that her behavior was somehow related to this weird substance. Idk how could their parents miss something like that but then again, i feel like there really are very low chances that her disappearnce was caused by her parents as everything that happened after the phone call from the party was told by melissa, which means that she could have easily altered the story from the start to never make her suspicious. My theory is that melissa is responsible for negligence and her disappearance by not taking her to an hospital early on but not directly connected to the disappearance

As things unfolded and we discover that she had obviously been a substance user before who was suspended from school and in counselling for it, I wondered if it was done to 'protect' the daughter from authorities. I don't know what the laws are regarding children and substance abuse, is there like a 3 strikes and you're out system that would have meant Karlie would have been removed from the family home? Would that have been her 3rd strike? If that's the case you could kind of understand the step mom wanting to deal with it herself. However, why was it left to the step mom? Where is the father in all of this that night? One of them should have been with her at her bedside all night and until she was completely recovered from the intoxication. Another thing is why kids are allowed to continue the lives that have brought them to a bad place - mobile phones, social media, going out with their 'friends'. Going back to when it was first discovered that she was using substances, they need to stop. Cut all ties with all friends until they can weed out the source of the supply. No mobile phone, no social media, no visits to friends, no unchaperoned outings. Everything stops. Call it re-hab. Sad that she was led astray and her parents enabled it. Poo

He came out of it and was super scared, he thought he was kidnapped, police helped us figure out by asking farmers in the area and of course found out he walked past all the orchards.
2nd time, 2 years ago this guy(I bbqed, he just stopped by) was stressing about his ex and was eating tabs, I kept asking,
"Hey man, are you sure you aren't over doing it?"
"No I take this much all the time".
2 more tabs later and Christopher Walken dancing through a mall has him freaking out about a gov takeover??
He started getting grabby and violent so i told him to leave. 10pm, he walks out screaming he is God, the neighbors made it worse and I had to call the police ... This happaned to me as well.
In my case, I think it was because i was on antidepressants and drank a lot of alcohol, when it happened. I´m also mentally vulnerable.
I felt like i couldn´t breathe, and made it hard for me to breathe. I blamed my mates for poisioning me. I forgot all the time. I looked into the sky and prayed some. It felt like someone was watching me all the time. I told my friends to call 911. I was scared like a little girl all the time...
It lasted for several hours, and seized when i fell asleep.

People are searching for some grander conspiracy here when really I suspect that she just had a psychotic episode and tried to remove herself from the viscinity of the imaginary danger she feared. I've had family members with forms of psychosis, the majority of them at some point followed the same pattern of first becoming scared of being tracked (especially by electronics), then having an extreme reaction before resorting to vanish in the night. Luckily none of them were permanently harmed yet if things ended up a little bit differently I might've had a similar case on my hands.
People accusing the stepmom really have no idea. The sheer amounts of terror from seeing family members going missing is traumatizing to the point that even seeing their clothes is triggering. So it makes sense that she might confuse small details, for example she might've worn jeans when first arriving home yet switched into undergarments and a shirt at home. Accusing her boyfriend or any other members of her family are just results of people's discomfort with the idea of a crime with only victims and no perpretrator, something completely random and even possibly avoidable. Truly tragic.

Unfortunately for a small portion of the population even marijuana can cause a mental break down. As a hunter myself I don't think people realize just how easy it is to get hopelessly lost in the woods especially after dark. You can be sure you are walking in the right direction and walk miles and miles into the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately this happens more then anyone would likely admit. I feel like this could be one of those situations. Because of tree cover wooded areas can be extremely hard to search you can walk just feet away from something and have no clue just ask anyone who has tracked a dead deer only to realize it was feet from where they were standing.

I remember once I took an especially strong weed cake (or something) which had me pretty much in a mental panic for over a month, verging on the edge of full blown psychosis (in hindsight, was 100% anxiety but I felt like I was going insane). Seems like whatever she took brought about some mental instability, she took a walk to calm down (reading her therapy notes possibly to ease her mind) got lost and is likely dead somewhere due to natural causes.
Nothing i've seen from the step mom is weird to me, shifting stories could be her trying to rationalise wtf happened and how she could have just disappeared.

Yeah, even weed, which is meant to be relaxing (in most cases, there are some strains where "energetic" is the main benefit), can induce psychosis in a small percent of the population. That's why you always have to be careful and start with low, beginner doses, then you slowly raise the amount. But, I'm just upset her parents saw her in such a state of panic and chose not to bring her to the hospital. Maybe the hospital could've given her something to calm her down. I've had panic attacks before, I've had anxiety for no reason, and psychosis is *several* steps up from that. I can't even imagine... They should've at least watched her more closely. Taken shifts to make sure she was still in the house. But ig its easy to see what someone should've done in hindsight.

My sister was diagnosed with schizophrenia as well. But we knew what was going on because my grandmother had it and knew it was genetic and figured one of us would get it unfortunately. She was around 19-20 when it started. She was saying similar things like her shampoo was messed with, someone was trying to poison her and she also kept saying she had diseases like mad cow disease and aids. She was very very paranoid. Medicine and therapy is the only thing that can somewhat help this disease. Thankfully she was never the aggressive kind. More depressive and bipolar kind. Trying to overdose on caffeine pills and having frequent suicide thoughts. I had a son four years ago. She is pretty close with him. And after my son was born , she got a lot better. It wasn’t until he was a little older though. That she got better. They interact a lot and play and I think he is a nice distraction for her. It’s nice seeing him ease her mind and give her something to care and worry about about other then herself and her mental health. I hope one day your brother gets better and stays better. If he isn’t already. It’s the worst mental disease you can have. I wouldn’t wish it on my worse enemy . And it’s also hard having to watch your family member go through it and realize there’s nothing you can personally do for them to help them . Only medicine and not just any meds the right ones and the right dosing and kind, and therapy , can help them. It’s a tricky disease . One that they will forever deal with . It’s truly sad

Would Karlie have gone willingly? I don't think so. There's really only 2 scenarios for me (keeping in mind how remote the location was); it was an opportunistic crime by someone who saw her as they were driving by, or she was completely out of it, was dehydrated and disoriented and got lost out there and succumbed to the elements. Perhaps her remains will be stumbled upon one day.

Swim said there's something called 25i that's been hitting the scene. Swim said the strength of the stuff is pretty all over the place.
When she said "She really fucked up" earlier that night was the alarm bell I needed to hear. I can't tell you how many times Swim took just a bit too much of a psychedelic and said the same thing.

As an ER Nurse, I don't want your Marijuana high kids to babysit, the parents did the responsible thing initially, staying with their kid who used mj. The expectations were it would pass. As her behaviour escalated as time went by, then it's time to bring her to hospital for assessment and blood tests to determine what drugs she actually took, and then treatment given based on evidence. If this was a sudden psychotic break due to mental illness vs drug abuse then mental health gets involved, otherwise they stay in the ER while the treatments are given. Mental health cannot handle medically unstable patients. But I'm sure Dad wasn't a stranger to drug use in his youthfulness and likely saw this as a bad trip that would pass. Inattention, misjudgement, after the initial hours perhaps, but intentional harm, nah.

Just like when she called her step mom she said pick me up no don't pick me up yes pick me up and acting the same with them as she was the people at the party. One minute shes normal the next shes scared the next she wants to paint her toe nails, color in a coloring book asnd read the Bible the next she scared then normal then scared like back and fourth like this in and out all night. I think she did admit she took drugs but what who knows but it made it lose her mind really bad and she went out the house like that when they were asleep and she was getting paranoid and scared again and who knows where she went probably didn't even know halfthe time maybe she roamed to the woods or mountains I know they have a lot of mountains loins there that have attacked people and try to killl them and coyotes and bears ect. She also could have been picked up by somebody when she left and went out the house.

Poor girl, psychosis is absolutely terrifying to experience. It may well have not been laced and she was just extra sensitive to the "trippy" effects of such a substance as weed, which can most definitely cause one to end up in psychiatric care. I wish she had been taken to hospital, though I do understand why they might be hesitant to. It can be frightening but in this case she'd likely be home safe and sound now and receiving treatment for any lasting effects. It's fascinating how the mind works, or doesn't, and how some are affected by certain things and others not. Stress and/or lack of sleep alone can cause psychosis, so it's no wonder she got worse as time went on, being too scared to sleep while under extreme stress. The writing on paper.... It's possible she was writing down thoughts, perhaps revelations or secrets. It's amazing what the mind can make sense of during such a state, which when back to "normal" is cringe-worthy ramblings or plain nonsense. :>

If you ever decide to experiment with drugs, seriously make ABSOLUTELY sure you know that it hasn't been tampered with and you trust the source 100%
If you are going to try psychedelics, make sure you have a babysitter (a buddy) to monitor you so they can make sure you're having a safe trip.

@@Abby-tk4vv for certain people yes it absolutely will fry their brain, so please do not outright dispute my knowledge of the subject unless you have an argument to back it up.
Psychedelics, or more specifically synthetic man-made psychedelics like LSD can fry your braincells if you overuse, or if you have genes that are more prone to developing a schizophrenic disorder. That is how my dad developed schizophrenia, and yes, it is terrifying, and it eventually killed him.

    • @Abby-tk4vv
      @Abby-tk4vv 6 месяцев назад

@justhellbound4206 When someone says "Fry your brain" I think of permanent brain damage which LSD does not do even when used excessively. I guess you could say developing HPPD or schizophrenia as a result is frying your brain though. It is a risk but extremely rare. This is a topic that bothers me because psychedelics are wildly misunderstood. MDMA can definetly fry your brain and I would never compare the effects of MDMA on the brain to psychedelics. I am sorry about your dad.

    • @justhellbound4206
      @justhellbound4206 6 месяцев назад

@@Abby-tk4vv I have nothing against psychedelics to be clear, I've even taken shrooms. I don't really have anything against any drug for that matter. As long as it's being done responsibly and not endangering others, I really don't care what someone wants to put into their body.
"Frying your brain" from my perspective, means permanently altering your state of mind. I didn't necessarily mean brain damage.
But I really think it depends on the person taking them and their genetic background. But hey, I'm not a scientist and could genuinely be wrong. Just everything that I've seen my dad go through and everything I've been told from my buddies who have a hefty drug history, have lined up with the lack of moderation and discipline while partaking in psychedelics.
Again I could be wrong, I'm not an expert. But as far as I'm aware, this is what has made the most sense to me.
