Love it !! My Dad told me many years ago, that if the crew on the Banking Loco weren't pulling there weight, the next tunnel they went through he would PEE on a shovel, put it in the firebox, send the back end a message. Lol. Really hope it wasnt the shovel he cooked breakfast on . Great vid , lovely sounds. Nice comment coming from a Diesel fan.
Absolutely Superb capture and people gathering on the lineside. Good times to come again after the pandemic and unknown times. Keep Safe and thanks for sharing your video.
Thank you so very much for making this excellent video. Very emotional for me. My Grandad worked 45 years in Crewe works as a fitter throughout the LMS/BR steam period and later. He may even have worked on the original Lizzie build.
Thank you Geoff for commenting, glad you liked it. It's so nice when people have real connections with the history and story of the railways. Pity Lizzies recent history hasnt been as good.
Cool, which one were you?? It was truly amazing passing from Bromsgrove to Barnt Green, how many people! Thanks very much for watching and the comment.
Spectacular audio on these shots - no other word for it! Excellent on board video coverage. Cant believe how many people there were at Bromsgrove - you can certainly tell that it was going to be a special event when you see a police officer standing on the platform! Well done and thanks for the upload. Thumbs up and fav from me. - Hayden.
Thanks, glad you liked it. I had to film from that side for other reasons - sorry! I've talked with others about getting together and joining film clips but been met with little interest so far. I think it could be good.
Dad and his driver once took a Scot from Bristol to Derby and ran the lickey without the banker. It tried to catch ‘em but failed. When they got to the top, they Lena valve which dad fixed with a tanner. He said in later years, never had so much fun outrunning the banker.
outstanding video, one i will watch time and time again....partly because you filmed me...( one of the network rail guys in bromsgrove loop..)......by the way .what an amazing turnout of onlookers between bromsgrove and barnt green....
Excellent set of footage mate, really enjoyed it. Nice to actually see some footage from on board the train, just a shame it wasn't fully booked =/ Thumbs up & fav'd.
Very enjoyable watching this on-board footage, you controlled the camera very well. It reminded me of an "incident" many years ago: as we passed the waste ground where the loco is at 1:49, there was a "flasher" displaying all! not a pretty sight!!! Alan
Brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed that & see what you meant about the 'Lickey', glad I stayed at Bordesley where I might have 'featured' had you been on the opposite side!! :-) I wish We could all get organised in a way that 'footage' could be shared to a 'master edit', what great movies we could produce eh!
Cheers for the comment, I was glad to just stand there and listen to the Princess in action! What a machine, built 1933 - Monster. As to audio the Canon is great, but my sponge (wind cheater) is second to none!! Thanks.
Yeah, I see. But the Panniers still had to run even over the top. They were a part of the train and kept going, until till we had to reverse at Landor St junction and the Panniers then lead. :-)
Good job the health and safety chaps did not see that crowd at Bromsgrove station its a miracle no one falls off the platform with that amount of people lol
Thanks very much for your comments, the camera do get hit by a branch part way up but I don't think it shows. I very glad I didn't have your experience, not what you want.
Cheers, the train carried four TSO's and two were empty and the other two had a few spare seats. I was filming from one of the empty ones, plus the cost of having to use coaches at the end. It's such a shame for what was a great tour.
Yes, it would be good if you could join all the 'angles' from 4/5 cameras but I can understand the reluctance. You would need to create your own group within a local geographical area to bring all the footage to a single 'edit source'! It obviously does happen in a limited way with 'double camera shots' but I guess most of us will remain 'freelance' so long as we enjoy ourselves.
Could Bromsgrove Station fit any more people on the platform! Amazing to see 1000s of people turn out for this. UK definitely world leader in preserved steam! The climb of the Lickey Incline was truly impressive with the train accelerating all the way up that long bank. I forgot for a moment that the bankers wouldn't have been coupled up to the train - otherwise their little wheels would have been spinning somewhat fast! Great post. Thanks. Nearly as good as being there. .......Hᴜɢʜ...TU…..ツ
re...crowd control...a request was put out to BT police to attend bromsgrove station and also the vigo but they could not attend due to other commitments "football matches etc", so instead a couple of local police attended who did nothing to control the crowds...when you look at videos on here, you can see people just inches away from being hit....
Close your eyes and you can be on the train. Brilliantly captured. Constant acceleration up the Lickey. Incredible.
Thank you, it was excellent. One of those trips you’d pay double to be on! Which we had something now!
A truly superb piece of filming Keith, Thanks for supporting the journey, and thanks for allowing the rest of us to enjoy the journey with you....Bob

Thanks, I can just imagine that! Put the shovel in the fire it’ll be clean.......Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Great to see videos from the train, I have many fortunately before we lost the luxury
thanks for an absolutely enthralling ride, especially the panniers reversing the train, magic, cheers.

I've never been so absorbed into a RUclips clip - brilliantly captured.
Many thanks and glad you enjoyed it. The Princess was superb all day and the end with the Panniers was magic!

Sounds like great fun, amazing memories. Thanks for sharing.
This has the feel of a regular scheduled passenger train!
Isochest I wish it was! Cheers.
Cheers, it was a great tour. Glad we've filmed it for everyone else!

An excellent video! it seems absolutely like you ride with the train.
Terrific video. Thanks for posting, Dave.

I saw you Keith on-board this train at Northfield but sadly I didn't have my iPhone with me
It was an excellent day, glad you saw it

Very good. Pity you couldn't get someone to look back wards to video the panniers banking.
Good job the health and safety chaps did not see that crowd at Bromsgrove station its a miracle no one falls off the platform with that amount of people lol
It does appear to be RC, but the video isn't to clear. Mr Churchill is a regular Driver for Vintage Trains and one of the best!

Not probs, it was a great tour to be on and film :-)

The right track for the Runaway Train! Anyone remember?
There has been a full length film done on the trip
Great British Railway Journeys ! Epic.

A big film has been made of the hole lot.
No probs, cheers.

No, to many dodgy people on platforms on the right. No way you could film on the right!! Never mind, good footage was had by all. Cool.
