I left mordhau a year ago because of the sweaty seizure players, thank you for shedding light into chiv 2, bought it and having a blast rn. This is basically what I wanted mordhau to be from the start!
It will be that way but for me it got to a point to Where I noticed the chivalry 2 sword play is just predetermined animations. Mordhau is real time sword fighting. I love that this games skill floor is so low cause it lets new players just come in and swing like apes and have fun but also like 80% of the players are just monkeys with controllers so you barely need to try to kill loads of enemies that barely feel like real players then all of a sudden you are battling a bad ass and its the most cool exilerating fight ever

One thing i might add that i like, they have 2 battlepasses right now both for 1000 premium currency(€11)each. I upgraded my game for €9 to the speciap edition and was able to get both battlepasses with it. Didnt really need the upgrade but figured i could support them because i play it on the game pass. Great game indeed, even now in 2023 i can highly recommend it. Also it got added to ps+ ive seen so there are alot of new players now.

Picked the game up on Steam at launch and have been having an absolute blast, despite never really playing this genre, you nailed Mordau’s over complexity and killed me with your humour. Was looking for a review to share with friends to get them playing and this is the one, cheers!
"I should know, this is 90% of my playtime." LOL'd. Same such a painful habit, but when you come out alive after killing them all it's worth all the suicides.
This review sold me on the game. It seems miles better than Mordhau for the average player and I am glad there is still a skill ceiling but less focus on the one demigod who is just butchering everyone getting unlimited health and stamina from kills. Also I dont think crossplay is added yet I know it says so on the steam page but I have heard otherwise so that may be something to correct.

Crushing (heh) other people's skulls has never felt more satisfying. I'd recommend this game just off the audio and visual quality. Axes and bludgeons feel just as brutal as they should, greatswords have an amazing Berzerk approved clang, and the sound effects for hitting and getting hit are incredible.

I still enjoy playing it for the fun of it, have no need of being a try hard & just playing/memeing with players of botth teams. The game is "slow" with each update, but the freedom to Customization limitless of setup/build & the amount of modded contents is really the main thing for me. Have been with this game for years also a thing. However Chivalry 2 has grown in me for sometime now, mostly cause of Ziggylata channel. finally got my friend to download chivalry 2 on xbox gamepass... the first game mode he played was limited time Volley. Sufficed to say hes an archer main now
My 1st day after downloading on Steam had me getting bullied by rank 300+ players, But the game's so fun I just kept going despite the L's. Haven't had this much fun playing a multiplayer game in a while.
I want to confess. I have loved archery since chiv 1 days and I won't stop. My brain releases happy chemicals when I see someone throw a hissy fit in chat or put in extra effort just to get me out of the picture for a few seconds. I am sorry, I play a ton of melee as well and I understand your pain.
Here’s one big thing to know if you play on last gen your locked to 30 fps which at best will put you at a disadvantage and at worst makes it borderline unplayable
The one thing I wish they had was a guild/clan system with guild leaderboards. I know, it's kinda tacky and a lot of players probably don't want this...but I think it'd be cool to have an option for guilds to fight each other in monthly or quarterly tournaments or something. Also would be cool to guild up and try to climb a leaderboard. As for the game itself, definitely recommend it. I play a lot of these games, including Bannerlord and Mordhau. Chivalry 2 is pretty easy to dive into, relatively forgiving of mistakes and does help to blur the lines between super-veteran player and newbie. On the other hand, as a more experienced (but far from elite) player I feel that I really do make a difference in battles, especially when I can go 30-10 in a team death match or defend an objective until the next reinforcement wave. Personally, I think that's a great balance between accessibility to new players and also rewarding veteran players.
This is very funny and I agree with all you said Especially Them Nailing the theme and atmosphere. It feels like the goal was “man want to run into battle screaming in wartime, but war bad how can we scratch this itch?” That’s how it feels to me. And I thank them for it. 100% has scratched something in me that otherwise wouldn’t have been without the chaos of the thrum of battle
I love Mordhau, but I'm so glad to see Chivalry return. So many mechanics were added/removed/changed from Chiv 1 to Mordhau which I hated. No recovery phase, stamina and health on kill, the only reliable way to counter someone pressing q is learning how to chamber, archers being allowed heavy armor, the only way to win as defenders is to have good engis, etc.
Just got Chiv 2 on the steam launch, my buddy and I are more casual enjoyers of the genre. Mordhau frustrated us and you put how I feel about this game perfectly in words. Your content is top tier no doubt.
What i love about mordhau: - Loadout customisation - Good looking cosmetics - Voice acting What i don't like about mordhau: - Animations themselves look good, but you players have ability to make them look god awful.
great video dude, saw ur vid on the steam forum and was sceptical from that title, but you quickly changed my mind with good jokes and valuable information to differentiate this game from mordhau/ chiv 1
Love this video. As a veteran myself with tons of hours in chiv, m&b, roses, MB2 and plenty more of these genres the Arcane Warfare game dissapointed me. This game was a good example of how they fail at creating a great flow of fighting. I see the exact same problem in Chiv 2. The lack of flow and weird animations/movement and especially the camera makes me feel its a redemption attempt for Arcane Warfare. Which had the same issues. The thing Tornbanner is great at is indeed the map design. It is fun because you can hack and slash and do stupid stuff but gotta give it to ya, Mordhau still has an amazing flow system. With flow I mean actually feeling like youre sword fighting. Actively blocking and chambering. Its just sad theyre a group of devs that constantly lie and gave up on something that could be improved upon so much. They should sell their IP to another company, if they even want it. The potential is still huge. -iXin
To add onto this, watching Chiv 2 tournament / competitive gameplay shows that players twirl around, manipulate their swings, and contort their bodies to obfuscate their attacks, which the reviewer berates Mordhau for. I agree that Chiv 2 is a more casual-friendly game, but to say that it mitigates the issue of esoteric and nonsensical combat found in other games in the genre is just false. As much as I want Mordhau to succeed, I've gotten burnt out by the devs' incompetence and lack of passion. I've racked up 2k hours in Mordhau since I bought the game in late 2019, and it makes me sad to see that it's slowly dying off when it had so much going for it. I had some great experiences and made many friends in that game, but it seems that it is coming to an end.
Mordhau is infinitely better for competitive gameplay and 1v1s, but Chiv 2 is actually... *fun.* The skill ceiling in Chiv 2 is still high-ish, but it's very janky and the combat just doesn't feel as skill based as Mordhau or Chiv 1. Still have had more fun in this than I have in Mordhau nowadays. Awesome 10/10 review you nailed it.
I'm mediocre at best when it comes to Chiv 2, however.. The few times that I have dived into a group of 5+ all alone with only a 2hand battle axe and came out on top is a joy that most will never know. Imagine the greatest moment of your life multiplied by 10,000. You will never know the joy I feel.
if only the animations weren't so floaty, the servers weren't so shit, the party system never working, high end combat wasn't so gambly, there were support for comunity servers and mod support(probably never comming due to console support), and plp sliding while attacking and moving bc animations are shit, I would actually drop mordhau for this game. don't get me wrong, for most plp chiv 2 is absolutly the best game as it's focused on more casual game modes, but for duelling if you are not focused on only the prize money, but just to HAVE FUN(I know, crazy), than this game is NOT for you, try mordhau instead.
That's the entire reason people make and play video games. To have fun. Chiv 2 isn't perfect but I won't be playing the monstrosity that is Mordhau again.
@@dopiestthyme3365 when plp see the two games they assume it's targetting the same audience when they clearly don't, chiv2 could be seen as the bf of the melee sword fighters, and mordhau as the cs:go, sure both are similar, but play very differently
Better combat is a definite no. This game cannot even touch Mordhau regarding combat. It's a clunky spamfest with gimmick gameplay design meant for casuals and rewards bad players with certain weapons. This is by far the biggest lie from the video. Not to mention the extremely bad 3d person animations and horrible hitboxes.
Great video Ziggy! You make me blush. Glad you enjoy listening to Chivalry audio as much as I have enjoyed making it. Cheers!

Maybe one day i will join its community, this game does has alot to offer some great time.
2:33 = LOL! 🤣 Check out the black refrigerator. And how NOT to cool down a PC's CPU!
finally got my friend to download chivalry 2 on xbox gamepass... the first game mode he played was limited time Volley. Sufficed to say hes an archer main now
My 1st day after downloading on Steam had me getting bullied by rank 300+ players, But the game's so fun I just kept going despite the L's. Haven't had this much fun playing a multiplayer game in a while.
Keep your chin up and don't let anyone get to you.
Here’s one big thing to know if you play on last gen your locked to 30 fps which at best will put you at a disadvantage and at worst makes it borderline unplayable
yeeeeeesssss I've been waiting to play on steam for so long, I love people that defend Mordhau religiously
This is very funny and I agree with all you said
Especially
Them
Nailing the theme and atmosphere.
Your content is top tier no doubt.
gotta hate those high level players...
Greetings stoutlaws.
I have 9hrs in Chiv2 and I'm not the lousiest cannon fodder on the field.
The way you use crouches in combat is amazing. Tempted to get the game on pc cause I've reached my ceiling as a console player.
Go for it, my man.
bruh that bandage throw to the trap @ 8:51 was lit i learned something new
Only thing i'll disagree with is chiv 2 having better voice acting. Mordhau floppish will forever be my favourite.
Floppish is literally a budget version of the Agatha Archer.
@@Ziggylata Those are fighting words
Sometimes I'm the Caveman, sometimes I'm the guy with the cheapest beer from the gas station
over 5000 hours and still gets bodied by my boys mike and bigfatidiot lmfao
the random noises the team screams into combat will always be my favorite
What i love about mordhau:
- Loadout customisation
- Good looking cosmetics
- Voice acting
What i don't like about mordhau:
- Animations themselves look good, but you players have ability to make them look god awful.
great video dude, saw ur vid on the steam forum and was sceptical from that title, but you quickly changed my mind with good jokes and valuable information to differentiate this game from mordhau/ chiv 1

Good review man. Keep up the good work!
Thanks.
Vétéran from Chiv 1 (5000hrs) and mordhau (1000 hrs Élite ranked). Der Ouillé
When you hit a 4+ man with one swing is peak. So rare but absolutely amazing
That's the lamest exaggeration ever dude!! Hahaha
It's fun, but please don't be that silly 😝
I cracked up when you said "you will die if you don't know how to defeat the caveman infront of you"
Battlepass. That is all.
Yeah, that's the biggest issue in me buying this game
It’s just cosmetics ya dorks
I used to be really bad at this game to where I stopped playing for six months. But now I came back, and I fell in love again.
if only the animations weren't so floaty, the servers weren't so shit, the party system never working, high end combat wasn't so gambly, there were support for comunity servers and mod support(probably never comming due to console support), and plp sliding while attacking and moving bc animations are shit, I would actually drop mordhau for this game. don't get me wrong, for most plp chiv 2 is absolutly the best game as it's focused on more casual game modes, but for duelling if you are not focused on only the prize money, but just to HAVE FUN(I know, crazy), than this game is NOT for you, try mordhau instead.
yeah sure if you want a game with a dying fanbase where the only people left are 360 whirlwind loser nolifes
This vid got me into chiv 2 and I'm having tons of fun playing, thanks for the great review
You can be wrong if you'd like. By all means, we wont stop you.
Imagine Team Fortress 2 but the Pyro is the only available class to play.
