I have a question for Mr. Ma'ani: Could preparation for the next world require provisions contrary to our worldly needs? For example, to know if we qualify for admissions in a certain school (or profession) we have to know how well we do in comparison to others, but you mentioned that comparing ourselves to others is a lose-lose proposition. In fact, one can argue that any advancement in the society involves comparing ourselves to our peers (or being compared to by admission faculties or employers). What are your thoughts?
