- MPP Sarah Jama was asked to leave the Legislative Assembly of Ontario by House Speaker Ted Arnott on Thursday for wearing a keffiyeh, a garment that is banned at Queen’s Park.
Jama, however, refused to leave the chamber.
Speaking to reporters at Queen’s Park, Jama accused the Progressive Conservatives of making the wearing of the keffiyeh in the House a political issue.

As a resident of Hamilton, who lives in the ward she represents - she didnt get voted in because people wanted Sarah Jama. She was plopped here by the NDP because they know a frog in a hat could win this riding for them, in a landslide. There should be elections for specific ridings to determine if the constituents want a replacement from the party they voted for, or if they support their rep becoming an independant.

First: the swastika is connected to a single foreign political party that committed genocide and continues to be a symbol for white supremacy internationally. Secondly: the kuffiyeh is a scarf made with Palestinian textile arts that has been worn by those who want to show solidarity and support for Palestinians who are the victims of genocide.

Rebranding a symbol of clothing like this one can cause a problomatic unfactual mis-informed narrative thats far from the truth from the reason it was and is banned. If you want a kuffiyeh the colour scheme could be rebranded with a different symbol, something that doesnt cause political divide and questions surrounding anti-semmetic questions about the kuffiyeh. The history of this symbol cant be ignored and rebranded for a cause that the whole world supports. We dont support hamas, we too support palestines innocent civilians. Yasser Arafat is the leader im speaking of research the hatred he represented and started a hate war whilst wearing this colour pattern.
