I know right? I thought for sure it was going to be either Artificer with calligraphy tools proficiency (maybe even ×2)/Scribe Wizard multiclass. But it really was great regardless.
What i love about this build is that with your expertise this makes an amazing infiltrator who can just threaten to use fireball if they dont let you leave.
As a writer, I can confirm that the most useful tool in my arsenal is being able to set fire to whatever I'm working on when I get frustrated with it. And everything ten feet around it. Seriously, though, very fun build!
I'm so happy for the Magnus Archive reference. I made the archive a 1lvl warlock 19th collage of whispers bard with a bunch of spells inspired by the fears. Tuloks reframing of DND to make his characters helped me make this character. I appreciate what you do.

Haven’t even started the video yet; but this is a character I’ve pondered VERY hard at converting into D&D… I’ve bounced between all assortments of Bard for the “artistic” element…an Illusion Wizard for shadowy powers & a manuscript spellbook… …and even an Artificer who flavors Calligrapher’s Tools as a reality-warping typewriter. Can’t wait to see what we have here! …there’s gotta be a dance joke in here somewhere… Edit: I don’t care if splits the spellcasting stats…this was solid concept gold!
@@TheRawrnstuff Ah...right! "Dark Delirium" is VERY thematically appropriate... The new "Player's Handbook" remastered looks like it's altering Archfey a smidge...going to turn it into a "Misty Step" sublcass (with benefits). I'm sort of into it...looks the the "Battlemaster" of Warlocks.
@@MisterSmith00 Also, "Fey Presence" functions like a flare, albeit with much smaller radius. And "Misty escape" is a dodge into a bright light. For spells, Faerie Fire is a flashlight charge. Blink emulates overlaps. Dominate person is Alan using someone in his stories, and Seeming is Alan writing new characters based on existing ones. Eldritch Blast is his handgun, and for Boon you simply have to take the Tome, plus the related invocations. There's just a lot that fits.

Was actually watching someone play Alan Wake when this dropped. Was kind of spooky. Still learning the lore, so not sure if Barry is real or a bit, but Alan needs all the help he can get so he needs Barry. Build wise, I think it is fun. Got ways to support with bonus action and reaction while having some surprise damage. Could be a fun NPC to help facilitate the plot too while not overpowering the PCs.
Another idea could be warlock of some description, possibly great old one or celestial. Who is his patron? Himself of course, or rather, himself as narrator as the patron to alan wake the character
I like the video even when i don't know the character and sorry to ask this since it seems like you might not care but when or if are you making the Shirou Emiya build from Fate stay/night and i know probably forgot or don't want to when 3 years ago when i first watched the Gilgamesh build i hoped that maybe one day you'll the Shirou Emiya that people were asking for back then. I watch these videos to see how you'll make the characters and I know there's no one way to make a character for example I've seen two videos try to make Shirou and those different goals and completely different builds. I also want to say i really thank you for so many years of your videos theirs always fun to listen to and always makes me think on what aspect should i take for the characters i make, so thank you for being great and have wonderful luck for this year.

@@Kytseo I have similar thoughts about a Drizzt build. To account for Drizzt fighting styles, Battlemaster is a good choice. As for Guenhwyvar, Beastmaster is your safest choice. However, Guen actually comes from a Figure of Wonderous Power, not from Drizzt being a Ranger. So Hunter Ranger/Champion Fighter subclasses could also be worth considering.

Scribe Wizard offers the immensely helpful benefit of giving radiant damage to spells that do not ordinarily have it. I added the “Rune Shaper” background when I tried this to be thematically appropriate…and for a cheeky reference to Norse mythology. Not quite Alan Wake…but an interesting D&D character.

So I have to disagree on the College of Creation…. I think College of Spirits would work a lot better. Yes it says you talk to spirits but the wording says “you tell the tale of ‘spirit x’” and then that’s how the power comes through. You’re a writer. You tell “tales” of Alex Casey, of the whole video games and such. College of creating doesn’t have anything to do with the first game and the Lamp changing the environment is more gimmicky and him figuring out the story then necessarily him changing the world how he sees fit

In swag jumps there are only heroes and monsters, and the trick is to not be either. Or something like that wait this is dnd um, actually tulok it's not a lake it's an ocean so you should have built him as a Spiral not a Loop

Is what the victim ask, but find no answer, because there is no need of one when horror is the goal, some want a jolly and happy tale running with characters like Tangle the lemur (btw, Sir Tulok,please?) But we might find an interesting twist from this one... Alan Wake is a novelist that, during a 2 year writer's block vacation in Bright falls, find himself tangled by the machinations of the dark presence, a supernatural sentient force that search to cross our realm using an artist as a catalyst. In the fight to save his own wife Alan will have to face an ancient madness and insanity to not let that force breach into our world, all while writing a terrifying story, his only greatest weapon against it, where him and others are actors and potential victims. Fear as you must! But in the path to win some Golden Glocks be careful of any scratch along the way, normal bullets might not vanquish some mistakes.
So is he ever gonna go into...what the inkling video was about? did he just need to get a vent piece made? Cause it's kinda...I don't wanna say poison the waters, that would imply I don't enjoy the videos, but there's that Aura around them, yknow? Like...my man, please just do whatevers fun? I'm sure if you did a "Hey this shit sucks im done after these exact builds and they will come when they come." video people would get it
