Motorola Moto G200 5G Review | Power-Packed Camera Superstar!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 30 июл 2024
- Reviewing the Motorola Moto G200 5G, one of the most powerful mid-range smartphones as we hit 2022 with a Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset stuffed inside the plastic frame. I also like the dependable camera tech, which can cope with most conditions - but is the Moto G200 5G a satisfying smartphone in every way? And is it a serious rival vs the OnePlus Nord 2, Pixel 4a/5a, Samsung A52s etc?
Well, the IPS display isn't as impressive as many of Motorola's rivals, lacking that sharp contrast and punchy colour reproduction of OLED tech. Likewise there's no stereo speaker setup or headphone jack, while Android 12 is still somewhere on the horizon.
But the Motorola G200 5G does boast a clean stock Android vibe with some worthy bonus Moto features. That camera can shoot up to 8K video (but performs best at 4K) and at night it doesn't foul its drawers either.
Gamers can certainly blaze through intensive titles, although hardcore gaming fans will want to look for proper cooling as the Moto G200 can get quite toasty.
So that's my thoughts on this Motorola smartphone, which hits some serious highs with a few negative points along the way.

What's with all the reviewers talking about plastic back like it's a con. I like plastic backs because they're certainly more durable than glass back. Glass will look nice sure but hey if you drop it once, be ready to pay half the phone's price just get the back replaced.
Plastic backs just scratch way too easily
@@JRWilson242 ill take scratches over weight and cracks
@@JRWilson242 depends on the plastic I guess. I have had a Realme 8 for about half a year now and pretty much zero scratches. My wife's RN10 pro glass back on the other hand is full of scratches. I will never buy a phone with glass back again I drop my phone too often for that. Glass only makes sense if the phone has wireless charging but then you could also use plastic.
Plastic is best, lightweight and durable. Who cares what's on the back of a phone? What moron is wasting their time looking at the back? :-)
@@Google_Does_Evil_Now Thank you. its light, durable, and cost less. I wish people never got so obsessed with glass.
Non glass body and IPS display are two things why I want this phone.
It's cause of that Ready For feature, isn't it?
If Motorola just put some more effort into their security and android updates they'd smash Samsung
Yep agree
Yeah that's the big reason they don't reach it
or ópen software and kernels so custom roms could strive
If they do that with the X30/S30 lineup, Moto will come back in a big way
no motorola phones suck
Motorola needs to start prioritising OS updates, as they can't just release all these phones but not guarantee updates in the future! To say this may or may not get Android 12 and 13, that's one big bummer which has impacted my decision on getting this phone...
Like, there's too many Moto G versions out there and I feel that there's no need for half of them... But OS updates definitely are needed otherwise the phone becomes some what outdated and obsolete rather quickly.
Everything else is spot on, it's a gorgeous lookin' blower and the specs are mind blowing for the price!
Exactly. I wanted a stock Android phone and really wanted edge 20 but i went with OnePlus Nord CE instead, thanks to three year support.
Indeed.
@Sean security updates = yes; but new os versions are worth it.
Android 12 is a downgrade, not an upgrade.
I'm totally happy with Android 11.
Been waiting for this review wor spurt! Great as always, a very interesting package (the phone that is)

Moto G are my go to phones. To me they are best in class at this price point in terms of ease of use and a daily driver. Started on the G8+ as a burner after smashing my pixel. Then G100 and now ordered a G200 after my G100 took a bath. Don't even shop around anymore, just hope Motorola bring out a decent smart watch this year too
Price of g200?
I had the Moto original, Moto 4, and Moto 7. Loved all of them.

I love that thing in your intro in which you make fun of yours.. that's very creative and funny of you 😆
Plastic is more durable than glass and doesn't affect signal reception like aluminium. IPS displays do not burn-in like OLED and use less energy than OLED on bright colors.
Reviewers need to get their heads out of their asses and understand that not everyone changes their phone twice per week. An OLED phone with a glass back is gonna last much less than one with a plastic back and IPS display. Plus, not everyone enjoys the oversaturated, unrealistic tones OLED displays provide.
Also Oled displays kinda painful to look at for some people (like me with astigmatism)

Redmi K40 Pro and Realme GT both are around that price for months and come with an amoled screen.
@@Psi-Storm Redmi k series devices aren't available globally, and while realme Gt does have a global version it's significantly more expensive
Solid coverage! Does this phone use PWM (pulse width modulation)? You can tell by putting it on low Brightness and viewing the screen through another phone camera with the shutter speed on 1/4000 and if there are lines, it's using pwm. I ask because I get migraines from it and am trying to find a phone that doesn't use it
@@zephorianvephorian777 Thank you so much for checking
Is this phone available in the US ? I simply can't find it anywhere, and not even sure if Denmark Amazon can ship to the US 😭
How does this compare to the Xiaomi 11T both available for £399 ??
I don't get it... why would they put an AMOLED screen on the G31, yet relegate back to IPS for the G200? It makes no sense!
And no OIS like in the G41
I'm buying this one because at this price range is one of the few phones to have an ips panel.
Amoled screens are looking nice for about 1 year and after they become grayish. That's my experience.
Because the Snap 888+ costs 180$ for the Manufacturer alone. That already taking away some other things to put in at this price point. The G31 got a really weak CPU and a camera sensor is even smaller than the one in the Moto G4plus (Moto G4plus has an 1/2.39 camera sensor while the G31 only has 1/2.72).
AMOLED display would've sold me on this
12GB+888+ SD chipset+144hz+6.8 inch screen+HDMI output at this price is as good as it gets.
Do you have a Drive or Something with your Anime Backgrounds they are stunning
Great review uncle Spurt 👍

motorola phones are bad
@@Michaeldavidrealfan why are they bad?
@@Michaeldavidrealfan bad??? I already bought 7 Moto devices and all great experience, actually I'm using a Moto G9 Plus excellent performance for his price, I will buy this new one too. Kid don't talk if u don't know nothing.
I just have a question.....where do you get your wallpapers?😌😫....I love em
Yo no se
am still think of getting egde 30 or this g200
please your thought on this
Edge 30 if you want the OLED display
Or edge 20 pro. The 870 is pretty decent too. Depends on your priorities. You can't have it all
The 5G data speeds on this G200 are blisteringly fast, I noticed the antenna is great. I compared it to A52s 5G and found in the same spot of the house, I was getting crazy fast 5G speeds most the time on Moto G200, while A52s 5G could never reach close to 5G speeds of the Moto, the signal was always weaker too, so much weaker than I sent the Samsung back. The A52s had better battery life and nicer size in my opinion, the speed of the device itself, the signal and the UI was all better on the Moto G200. The rear camera is about equal between G200 and A52s 5G, front camera better on the Samsung. The screen, while IPS I actually couldn't tell the difference in the lighting I tend to use my phone in. I just couldn't believe how much better the signal and speeds are with the Moto G200 Vs the A52s 5G, it's why I chose to have the G200 as my main phone. It's just so much better data speed wise I couldn't let it go!
Isn't the g200 quite buggy?
@@gideonMorrison I have it and haven't had a buggy experience myself so can't comment on that and haven't really heard that on forums either. During recent heatwaves I have found the phone to get quite hot indeed during charging and heavy use, which is known to happen with phones with 888 chips, that's the only real issue I've noticed. The Pixel phones are known to get hot with the tensor chip too, as are many others. It's actually fairly sturdy too, maybe it's just the plastic back which helps, but I've dropped it from waist height a few times at home and doesn't have a mark on it still. It's currently on sale with Motorola for £319.99 in the UK which I think is a lot of phone for that price if anyone was wanting a fairly affordable phone that punches above it's weight to buy outright.
Is there charge seperation? Like Red Magic 6R I would switch it on and it will have the phone use the AC power instead of the battery.
This would stop the charge and prevent heat rising. I couldn't game without because it would protect the battery and SoC from the heat. I always charge around 70% and turn on charge seperation.
From where do you get the wallpaper!?

Can You Do A Review Between The Motorola Moto G200 5G & The Google Pixel 6 5G 128GB. I'm Torn Between Which One To Buy...They Both Look Great Phones....
I like your review very much and how much is the price of this phone?
Such a great phone
Great review-The thing that keeps me from getting moto phones are their Poor Software/Security updates. (They are the worst of all manufacturers)
I got the moto one 5G when it was free from cricket will this phone get android 12 I'm on 11 now
wait a minute
i saw some of the same photos in your g31 unboxing
I dunno, I was a loyal motoG user since the first one .... (1,5,7 and one fusion) , but those updates are far n littles ....still Facebook remembers me when G7 record video with "underwater" sound...
The one fusion jumped from 10 to 11 the same day 12 appears....
I wanted to change to pixel or Sony, but they don't sell their phone down here ...
So I thought Samsung, but always bother me all the bloat software...
Battery life. Would you add a battery life segment to your reviews. I've had two previous Moto G Power phones with the 5000ma battery. They easily lasted 3 days. Since then the Moto g 5g; the Nord 10 and even this new Samsung A53 with its 5000ma battery, that I purchased two days ago, barely last a day. So the size of the battery itself doesn't guarantee long usage between charges. It would be helpful, if you would just charge a review phone up to full with cellular service on and run a long video and see how long it takes before it dies.
That would give us a true concept of how good the battery is.
Can you credit the artists for the wallpapers?
To support and credit them ofc
+ I want them
don't get phone naming sometimes. why g200?
I have no idea. I feel like these android manufacturers are confusing people who may own an IOS device. The names could just put people who are looking for a different OS off purely because they don’t want to watch hours of reviews just to find out which combination of letters and numbers they should buy

I got the Moto g stylus 2020 and I am big fan of it especially because I got a great deal. I definitely don’t need super powerful processors especially because I don’t do any heavy gaming. My stylus has very loud stereo speakers. Battery is so awesome with my stylus too and is important. 1 day battery life for any phone is a con. I really would like to see a significant price drop sale for me to consider these upper mid range phones. A future Moto g stylus, pixel a line or the Samsung upper A line phones will be considered for my future upgrade next year or even 2 years later. Must be on a great sale though for me. These future g100/200 line will be on my radar too but I can’t see myself paying way more over a stylus deal.
@Hew Jarsols And? Umm. You do realize that it uses an ultra battery efficient Snapdragon 665 processor? This is the same processor that battery king moto g power 2020 (I have the Power 2020) uses with its 5000mAh battery. Power gets 3-4 days battery life and the Stylus gets 2-3 days battery life. I still prefer the stylus over the power. Who would complain about 2-3 days battery life? The battery life is better than my Samsung Galaxy A71 5G and my Pixel 6a which both have larger batteries. I won't even bring up my iphones battery life which stink.
Can u please review the Oppo A54s? I want to know how it is compare to the Oppo A54 5g!

The design team at Motorola is tripping! How does the Motorola Edge 20 Lite (lower spec'd device), have a more premium look? The high-end devices should be the most aesthetically pleasing of the bunch.

In my experience, specs are great but heavily affected by software.
I have a poco f3, really fast phone but the ads in miui are just awful for me.
Being the bezels on that phone don't look that annoying it's rather easy to adjust it's like small/medium size overall that phone is really good for the price range and I want to be surprised if Motorola does give them updates cuz they should give that phone an update cuz it the flagship chipset why would they leave this phone hanging I was so upgrade that phone to Android 12 with the Snapdragon 888 plus let's get it come on Motorola give it an update Android 12. Also I wish that TCL does advertise their phone a lot better the phones are really good with the 20 series I hope that's a 30 series will be even harder dual speakers all the bells and whistles to rival flagship phones they should make it $600 phone with a Snapdragon 8 gen X1 chipset dual speakers migrating everything from the 20 pro to the 30 pro and call it a day.

Good review and you highlighted Motorola's major problem - security and system updates. Case in point is the Motorola One Zoom. At the time I was using my Samsung Galaxy S8 and wanted a more flexible camera. Motorola One Zoom was introduced and had the cameras I wanted, but I didn't buy it because there was too many shortcomings. Techspurts review highlighted them, just like this review. I stayed with my S8 until last year and bought the S20FE 5G with £100 discount. The S8 got security patches until April this year. Motorola in the meantime is still on Android 9 (same as the S8) and I don't think it had many security updates!
It's good Motorola introducing lots of new phones, but not updating them. The Moto G200 is okay, but too compromised. I feel the SD888 is wasted and SD870 or SD780 would have been better. Also OLED at 90Hz would be better than 144Hz LCD. For the money not bad, but not for me if I was looking for new phone.

THE MOTO G100 is more expensive than the latest G200. Is it because of the 3.5 jack and the stereo audio that the G200 does NOT have?
The g100 has no stereo too (but a very clear and good mono imo), like, I guess the g200.. the g100 has a SD card possible too, though.

It's pretty annoying how Motorola won't give us stereo speakers. I get it's a "midranger" but most phones in this price range have stereo speakers.
Wat about the ips screen who wants that instead of oled?
I know this is like telling the tide not to come in, but I really like my headphone jack. This phone cannot listen+charge at the same time without nasty sounding Bluetooth.
I used to love how Moto generally stuck to the headphone jacks. If there was one on this, I'd probably be getting it. For those of us that care, it's a dealbreaker.
You can sort of get around this by using a USB Hub that supports charging via USB-PD, but yeah, it's still annoying as all heck...

It'll be battery conditioning, it's normal
That's adaptive battery. It's on all Android phones. It gets used to how you use your phone and what apps you use. It puts all apps you don't use often into hibernation and those you barely use or not use not at all into deep sleep. It usually takes upto 10 days to get used to your usage patterns
1:07 Never seen a phone with a glass frame.
Sat here watching this on my OP9 Pro with 888 and 120hz like hmm 🤔
Im concerned with their poor phone update history. I like the phone but They are 2 years behind on some phone models for Android updates.
I was going to go for this phone... only to realise theres no headphone jack. I don't know now... i have Bluetooth headphones but I'm not happy knowing i cant use wired headphones.
An inexpensive 'CX-Pro' DAC/Amp dongle will plug into USB C jacks and allow use of wired headphones/IEMs. If your device doesn't have USB C, there are other DAC/Amp dongles with different connectors. If you consider one, start out with the volume low, as they may amplify the sound quite a bit. AndyAudioVault's discontinued 'DongleMadness' project reviewed 118 dongles (some fairly expensive), but the 'CX-Pro' still got 4 out of 5 stars and may easily suit your needs. If you've never tried an IEM, maybe consider the standard 'KZ ZEX' IEM.

If this were Samsung sporting 144hz at this price point he'd be gushing over it but since it's Motorola, he supposedly "can't tell the difference between 90hz and 144hz" now.
My problem with Motorola is they cut too many corners. If you are going to put out phones like the G200 at that price, then you have to evolve. In other words, add things like OLED display, dual speakers, better build quality, longer software updates and an IP rating higher than splash proof. Especially when other phones in this price range offer all of that. I like Motorola's setup but they need to differentiate their higher end phones from the cheaper budget devices.
💯
Please do tell which other phone in this price category offers a 888+, 144hz screen and a 108mpx camera. You can't have everything.

I do use and thoroughly enjoy a fantastic OLED monitor for my PC gaming setup by LG, but on a phone I'm more than happy with an IPS. My biggest issue with the Moto is the lack of software updates and the massive size, the screen is absolutely fine.
@@yoyokimjongyoyokimjong4973 I have a (AM)OLED moto one zoom and an IPS G5G+ and at night I just can't look an this OLED screen, because so many dark colours are just not displayed on OLED and replaced with black Pixels, making some Videos at lowest brightness just 50% black Pixels. The high contrast between the Black and White's constantly turning on and off are also hurting my eyes. The IPS however may show not perfect Black, but it got all the dark colours even at lowest brightness, not hurting my eyes at all at low light, and at daylight high brightness the missing black is unnoticed anyway because of the sunlight making the display on both OLED and IPS less contrasty to begin with.
