Fifield, ENGLAND - Exploring the Enchanting Streets of a quiet English Village

- Join me on this beautiful walk in Fifield, its history dates back many centuries, with evidence of human settlement in the area since ancient times.
Archaeological findings suggest that the area around Fifield has been inhabited since prehistoric times. There are remnants of Iron Age settlements in the vicinity.
Like many villages in England, Fifield's history during the medieval period is intertwined with the development of manors and estates. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, which recorded it as "Fifhide," indicating its existence even before the Norman Conquest.
Throughout the medieval period and into the early modern era, Fifield would have been under the control of local lords or landowners who held manorial rights over the village and its inhabitants.
Much of Fifield's historical economy would have revolved around agriculture, with villagers engaged in farming activities such as growing crops, raising livestock, and tending to the land.
Fifield would have experienced various changes and developments, including industrialization, urbanization, and shifts in agricultural practices.

I thoroughly enjoy your walks even though know all the places. They are as you show them - a few more folks around later in the day, dog walkers, horses and the odd car. Have you done Swinbrook yet? I’ll have to check. Of all the places in The Cotswolds East Leach is my clear favourite.

It's good to hear the birdsong coming back in your videos Kevin, as It is a sign that spring is on Its way. Especially hearing the Dunnock and Song Thrush as it is getting quite rare nowadays. However, I also heard the Redwing in the churchyard, so perhaps winter has not finished with us yet!

What a lovely, quiet place. Reminds me of the village where my grandfather lived and I used to spend my summer holidays. This is the reason why I like England so much, although I'm from a completely different part of Europe.

As an elderly widow in the Eastern United States with something of affinity for these country villages, through your videos I am getting to see and hear some of the places I will never get to fully experience in my lifetime. 🙏 I also have a couple of practical questions. How do these villages handle their sewage? Also how do water and electricity get supplied?

17 de fev de 2024. Gostei imenso das casas desta vila Fifield pois são construções em pedra com muros a combinar. Um lugar agradável para passar umas férias em contacto com a natureza . Os 240 habitantes concerteza se sentem felizes.Obrigada
