I recently bought a Bambu p1s and was wondering why such an expensive printer such an annoying placement for the spool. It also came with a bag of ptfe tubes. Guess all I have to do now is print a spool holder to set it up next to my printer. Thanks for the idea Bryan!
I have the Qidi Xmax 3 and I just put the supplied spool dryer (instead of on the back) on the left side with a section of PTFE tubing up to the runout sensor. The Spool dryer/enclosure, has a flat bottom and it works great just sitting next to the printer. No need for an additional spool holder.

The thing that I hung on the printer as an example of finding a printable spool holder designed for a particular printer? Yes. Yes it is. I printed it in red Polymaker Polysonic PLA. The tube part of it came from the back of the printer.
Actually one main point missing: If the filament runout sensor triggers, the end of the filament already is on the back of the printer and you still have to go to the back to change the filament. Addittionaly to your mod you need to remove the runout sensor from the back and put it on the side, maybe using an extension cable.
If cover is not required (no ABS/ASA), wouldn't it be easier to have original filament feed point (filament sensor), with tube released from cable chains, relocated to the side of the machine? It could require some drilling and extending wires (or leaving filament sensor unused), depending on design and will. Who want's to feed (and un-feed & re-reel) enormous lengths of filament (TPU, anyone 😅) through two tubes + (cheap) sensor in between (is _glue_ on build plate for _normal filaments_ similar kind of brainwash?) Printing should be easier, not harder 😬 and fortunately this video helps at least a bit with that 👍

Dont use cutters! and then uses cutters to cut a 45 degree cut! LOL
don’t use cutters for a bowden tube, use cutters for a filament. “lol”
