“Post Traumatic” is the most emotionally raw and powerful album I have ever heard😞

So true, it's just a pure raw expression of art

Mike essentially did everything on this post traumatic album. Production, beats, lyrics, everything was him on this album.

It's not a Chester eulogy song. This song is about Mike. It's about him losing a beloved friend and creative partner, and trying to figure out who he is now. Dealing with loss and with impostor syndrome and insecurity and uncertainty about the future. He's thinking "Can I continue my life's work, or were people only listening for him? Are they only going to listen to THIS because of him? Does anyone care about what I do?"

If you watch the making of Minutes to Midnight album video you will find that it was Chester who really pushed Mike to sing more. There were times where Chester liked Mike's vocals better than his own on some of the songs and said don't use mine use Mike's vocals instead. Mike had more confidence rapping than he did singing. So Chester wanted Mike to be more confident with his singing because he knew Mike could sing. Mike just needed the reassurance that he was good at it.

Post Traumatic is the name of this album and its great. This is his best song. He wrote the first verse the day before the Hollywood Bowl performance where multiple musicians came in to sing Chester's parts. You should watch the Concert for Chester. The second half of this song was written immediately after that show.

A lot of times mike plays this song live but as a mashup with “papercut” off hybrid theory. The crowd sings Chester’s parts and it’s amazing.

The first time I heard this song, I started to cry, I was a witness to my grandpa’s death, I’ve seen and been through shit you won’t believe. Im a hydrocephalus survivor, victim. Im almost. 24. Linkin Park saved me. Got me out of my head.
    Thank you, Chester
    Thank you, Mike
    And thank you Linkin Park❤

It's easy to sleep on Mike when listening to Linkin Park and you have Chester there "stealing" the show.
But Mike is an incredibly talented musician.
So many of the songs and beats are Mikes doing. to the point that on the "Minutes to midnight" album, Mike is even listed as a co-producer.
Plenty of interviews where Chester is like.. "Yeah normally i sleep on flights and if i wake up and look over at Mike he's sitting there with his phone making music" Lol

Mike Shinoda always made songs that are heavy hitting, not as heavy as the songs Chester done. I say one of his best works is the song Kenji, from the Fort Minor album 'The Rising Tied', which is a song talking about Mike's family being in a Japanese internment camp.

Most of the lyrics on linkin park were a co-writing effort between Mike and Chester. To my understanding having grown up with the band is that they'd sometimes pass lyrics back and forth tweeking them.

Mike exorcised his grief in this album. The man is a fkn genius, even when suffering. Jesus Christ. Im trying not to sob listening to this song.

Interesting fact: the first verse of this video, mike recorded it on his phone before The Chester Memorial Show at the Hollywood Bowl, and the second verse and video were recorded after it
Also Since U Been Gone is Kelly Clarkson, Where'd You Go is Fort Minor, you'd love more fort minor stuff though, like Remember the Name, Petrified, There They Go. Should definitely check out their album "The Rising Tied"

The beat was made by Mike himself. In addition to being a rapper, Mike is also a guitarist, pianist and producer. Even now, he teaches free beat making on his RUclips channel. It's interesting to know that Mike made this whole album in his own house alone. And he gave a solo concert after that, where he played the instrument and sang

Mike also produced Linkin Park all the time. And if you think about it, lots of LP material has emotional/dark lyrics, but very hyped instrumentals.

Yes, the song you were looking for from Fort Minor is Where'd you go haha😂hey, I really hope you could do an album journey for Shinoda's Post Traumatic as you've been doing for Linkin Park 🤟

This album was Mike's journal of his journey with his grief after Chester's death. As you get through the album it does get lighter as he worked through his grief. He talked in an interview about how hard it was for him to do his first concert by himself without any of the Linkin Park band members. He talked about how he did this for the fans not just for himself.
