    Nick you should start including washer size in the notes of these
    videos if you can, I'm not sure how easy that is to do. But it would be
    good information.

    Just did something similar on my ouroboros... used 6brz50-10 shim stock, 0.010" phosphor bronze "sheet"... and grinded it all my self. ID, OD, etc... action is now amazing!

    I absolutely love the design of this knife but I totally agree with all you've said on it so far. Wish they'd fix the washers and the steel and I'd definitely have one.

    I hope we see more of this designer, whether it's with Spyderco or another company. The design is excellent and I he seems incredibly benevolent from what you have passed on. Thanks for an update on this knife.
    E: Not to mention the cost... Even if they put in bronze washers, they ought to lower the price down

    would love to see this knife come to Colorado or go down the Rhino route and make it in Taiwan with BD-1 and making it a good deal cheaper

      Aye, wouldn't mind a trade-off like that if it meant the price came down significantly. It's clearly not designed to do any heavy lifting, just be a perfect pocket pal throughout the day.

    I'm interested to see whether Eric or Sal will discuss this (and the loctite and the warranty) at the Spyderco Amsterdam Meet this February

    • @NickShabazz
      @NickShabazz  7 лет назад +1

      This is small potatoes next to the LocTite thing. This is the Japanese factory messing up one knife (as Teflon isn't used commonly outside of the Japan G10s), but Loctite as company policy is a long-term dealbreaker.

    I hit a roadblock with disassembling my Ouroboros... it was ironically the one screw that should be able to be removed, the one that holds the pocket clip in place. It should be able to be removed to move the clip for left hand carry, but it wasn't.
    Without being able to fully disassemble it, I was still able to get it dialed in pretty well. I can get it to drop shut... but it too often bounces back and needs to be shaken (re-)shut.

    Hi nick, another great video! Question? Love my raven2, but the nylon washers...poor. Do you think brass washers would help? If so what size do I get and where can I get them? Thanks, George.

    Nick, it sounds like Spyderco is now going to start using mainly Phosphor-Bronze washers in their knives. Maybe your advice had something to do with that.

    Where can I find the sharpened torx bit drivers you used? That seems incredibly useful for difficult screws.

    • @NickShabazz
      @NickShabazz  7 лет назад

      They're not sharpened, just sharper. As in, not worn. It's a separate Wiha set I only use on difficult screws, but a normal Wiha set.

    • @Jim00000
      @Jim00000 7 лет назад +3

      Nick Shabazz Where can I find that t-shaped handle?

    • @ericm4658
      @ericm4658 7 лет назад +5

      Seriously I spent 5 mins trying to figure out where the fuck the t wrench was. It doesn't have a T shaped handle. It has a torx bit in it
      What he has is what's called a "driver" with a torx bit on the end. 99% of what's in his hand is basically a modular screwdriver designed to accept different bits. Nick just happened to put his T6 and T8 bits into the "driver"
      You need Torx bits with a 1/4" hex base, I would suggest getting T5-T10 wiha set, I have my own and I've never seen a knife that needed lower, bits not at the extreme in size are easier to find. Nick suggested buying a nicer brand like "Wiha", i agree with him especially on the smaller bits.
      If you're not in an english speaking country I suggest finding friends/family who know about tools and asking them what terms you use locally.
      www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004I3SU20/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
      And then you need the "driver", here is one that will probably last you forever
      www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002NI1LZK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
      And they get cheaper from tehre, you don't need the ratchet function but I would suggest just dropping the money. Will save you the hassle of storing and organizing 100 screwdrivers and you just have to organize bits. Most of which can be found for almost nothing in a set at your local hardware store.
      Here is one that has everything you need but the T6 bit
      www.amazon.com/Wiha-38004-Multi-Bit-Screwdriver-Handle/dp/B001IDKW8I/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1484354822&sr=1-4&keywords=wiha+screwdriver+multi
      I've done my good samaritan work for the day, hopefully you weren't just fucking with him

    Does anyone know a good place to get some phosphor bronze washers? I have a Cold Steel Code 4 and have done my first full teardown after four years of owning it. It comes with bronze washers, but they seem to be a little corroded. It also comes with very thin teflon washers, which have been pretty squished.

      I don't know! It's one of the tools I inherited from my father, and honestly, as it has no magnet to hold in bits, it's kind of awful.

    It is a good looking knife. I have very large hands and don't think I could get a 4 finger grip behind choil. I hate knives that force me to use only the choil like the Native..Spyderco is t pumping out a ton of new knives plus the Blurple and I think their QC is slipping. I wait until a knife has been out a while before I buy one. I guess you don't have that luxury. I waited about 15 years to get a BM 940 and they still f@&$ them up. So, my plan doesn't always work out.

  • @Nanchi

      A lot of the people here probably own knives worth upwards of $500... I mean this is the channel of a guy who uses a Grimsmo Norseman for EDC! But I get what you're saying, my cheapest knife (Spyderco Delica) sees more use than any other blade I own.
