I am the crazy outlier here- I loved show faction intentions! I regularly used it to know when AI was going after a far off settlement to get an army there in time, and to accurately place my ambushing armies. I like the incoming ones (I think the borrow time is fairly uninspired, but whatever it's plenty good) but I think this will make Kairos even tougher for me in the short term. Even more of a punishment for getting off their greed train.
They are map hacks. You can see how many armies an enemy have and where they are going through fog of war. And it was free. The ability was incredibly good. There is a reason why you get less vision on higher difficulties - knowing where your enemy is is a HUGE benefit. I have absolutely no idea how someone making a strategy game could think *free map hacks* were bad.
@@ho8ojoe8 it's not typically free but Kairos has a skill on his blue line that makes it free wonder what CA will do with that now that they're removing Show Faction Intentions...
The mechanics look great, although it might get boring depending on how well the "parasitism" works. The free Tzeentch update doesn't have the much needed changes to cults and unholy manifestations which sucks, but the changes they made seem fine. Fuck that price though!
it's likely these are not the entire changes for Tzeentch with the wording of CA's post ("here are some of the changes for Tzeentch") Hopefully that's the case
@@PowerPuffSoldier I too hold hope for the fact they said 'some' of the changes. Would be pretty tzeentch like to rile the community up with a seemingly unjustifiable price rise and then be like, "but you guys didn't let us reveal all this amazing new stuff and we fixed every bug"
They remove the show factions intentions: "Show Faction Intentions - we felt that this, on the other hand, wasn’t particularly useful as an action, so it’s been scrapped." This was a core mechanic for Kairos, his skill tree used to buff this by making with a 1 turn cooldown and no grimories cost. This was a 10/10 feature based on his lore since he can always see the future and plan ahead. You could 100% always ambush the AI once you see wheres they're heading and If you were hidden. The reason It wasnt so used its because its Very bugged and CHANGED based on players move. This really piss me off, instead of fixing the damm thing they just remove.
Never got much use out of it. But it was really nice to always have a vague idea of what the ai wanted to do. Even if their intentions could quickly change.
@@arkorat3239 And i think its fair, when i played my first multiplayer campaign with 6 friends. It was kinda hard to realise the fact the they can see the map just like me and react to my movements. The first turns i used the same bait i used on the AI hoping for their stupidity. Its kinda smart for the AI to retink their strategy given new things for considerations.
@@nitomurray6137 Every new Tzeentch character (Kairos/vilitch) has his own changing of ways, i dont see why The changeling will bê diferent. Kairos in lore have that ability and his skill line super buff that. It is indeed core for him. He can use It EVERY TURN FOR FREE, he get those because HE can see into the past and future, his whole lore is build around that. If players dont use It: A) The game is easy and they don't need It. B) Doesn't Work/ not reliable and should be fixed, not removed I'm going with B ;)
Yes I cancelled my pre-order after watching MilkandcookieTWs video (he made great arguments that kinda pushed me over the edge). I really feel like the community gets worse when negativity seeps into everything. Yes the price sucks, yes content is not enough for most people and CA need to start patching like a premium game before they start asking premium prices. I appreciate that you choose to focus on the content and not the negative stuff. The world needs more positive content and less rage bait, its a dark enough world as it is.
It's still nice to see a breakdown of everything even with the price issue. I agree with you that the price won't be moving, but if CA put something out that was something along the lines of "Upon further examination, and comparing it's contents to other products of ours like Twisted and Twilight, we've decided that this is not up to your standards, and is certainly not up to our own. We will be leaving the Shadows of Change at it's current price, however, we will be adding several units to it for free in the near future before Thrones of Decay releases. The units will be the Hag Mother and a new Ungol infantry unit for Kislev, The missing Exalted hero of Tzeentch, and the Chaos Lord of Tzeentch, as well as a glaive variant of the Tzaangors for Tzeentch, and an Imperial Agent hero for Cathay. We encourage anyone who has any doubts to wait to purchase the Shadows of Change until these units are added and will be continuing to add at least 6 units for each faction in futures lord packs" I'd be a bit more forgiving, thought probably would still wait to see them.
I don't think they can add all of that within a couple of weeks. But maybe over time it's something that could be patched in or added to total war access. At the very least I would like to see the next dlc be cheaper as long as it doesn't negatively impact the product quality. Although I know for sure the shareholders hate that idea.
The additional lords/heroes/tzaangors would only be re-skins so surely wouldn't take that long, whole new units I guess would take a couple of months to design and balance if they really wanted to do it?
Thry should have made Tzaangors ranged units with Bestigor Level stats (Gives BeastMen a new ranged unit if they ever add Them with khorne minotaurs) -But They would have a trait 'Magically Deprived' or something, It lowers the Tzaangors melee capabilities the less Magical Ammo They have
Loving that they are trying to push some boundaries in terms of LL and their mechanics. Making each of the characters feel unique to play, even within the individual feel of each faction is a great idea.
I'm very interested in the Changeling now, I was a huuuuugeee doubter of him being a LL. His mechanics seem incredibly unique and I hope the other Tzeentchian factions will get a little bit more from the FLC than what was shown thus far. As interested as I am, not quite so much as I am for Yuan Bo! I really really hope CA brings some good FLC changes to Cathay, especially the caravan system! Please CA, let me get a steam tank as Miao Ying!
Imagine this: you live in a town somewhere on coast of the Empire, your sewers are filled to the brim with human-sized rats, grass in your lawn turned into small purple tentacles, the docks are occupied by vampires, half of the town are Tzeentch cultists, and half of those are sick with Nurgle plague. Oh, and there is a giant red daemon crawling out of a weird blood-drenched altar. Just another jolly Friday in the land of steel, faith and gunpowder.
My current longest played campaign was when I used Kairos and focused on screwing with other factions instead of empire building. It was soo much fun, I like the changes they're implimting.
Tbh. I kinda would've loved to see Helbrass as Lord. Because think about it: We're basically guaranteed to have wizard LLs as Tzeentch. We have Kairos, Vilitch, gonna get Changeling, MAYBE, if the dark brothers are mercifull, we get Egrimm van Horstman... Aekold being a melee fighter would've been unique as a melee fighter, lol Also, CA really loves to annoy us by teasing Toddy... remember "What is Mortal Empires"?
I'm really looking forward to the changeling. Those faction mechanics look not only fun and engaging, but is also unique to I'm looking forward to trying his campaign!
My question is, how can the ai defeat you as a player if you pick the Changeling? All his settlements are built on ai settlements and I doubt ai factions are going to declare war on other a factions just to wipe you out. It seems like there won't be a threat unless I'm missing something. Also what happens to him when his army is beat through battle or auto resolve?
I wouldn't say it is necessarily over with 1 loss. One of the Symbiotic building options is deploying additional armies. Another option spreads cult occupation. Killing all of your armies would definitely hinder you, but between the two, you could quite likely recover.
You either destroy all settlements with his cults or discover them through heroes and buildings and destroy them, you know, like skaven undercities. The problem would be destroying his cults in your allies cities. Like say… how IN THE BLEEDING WARP does Karl defeat the changeling without causing a massive civil war?
@@xvim7106 it spawns a rift army, not a controlled army from the building description, and only after a certain level. Likewise, you have no buildings to recruit a lord. So if he's gone, he's gone, right? You have no territory to spawn him, you have no settlement. And your armies are rift armies.
@@nitomurray6137 Parasitic buildings: enable the spread of corruption, open rifts for Daemon armies, and allow attacks without siege. Symbiotic buildings: "self-destruct his secret buildings and deploy his own armies," spawn rebels, or attack with few diplomatic issues. That sounds like you add your armies via symbiotic or AI armies via parasitic. There are no buildings that recruit lords in the game. It is missing from the UI panel, but it is possible it is tied to a UI pop up when you spawn an army much like trying replace a lord that dies in an army. If it is a single army faction, it would be a worse version of a horde faction (even hordes had extra armies) and would almost force you to doomstack.
Hmm, I could definitely see the fun in portaling straight to the Everchosen at the start of an Immortal Empires campaign and... assisting him in taking over the world :D
I have to completely disagree with you on the Show Faction Intentions, having intel is always great. If it doesn't work how it is supposed to that doesn't make it a bad thing that needs to be removed, it just needs to be fixed and kept because knowing where the AI is sending its armies from the fog of war is amazing all the time. Having now finished the vid: I am also really excited for what is in this DLC overall. The Changeling looks super fun to play. Having said that I am in group of people that will buy the DLC but not till it is cheaper.
Overall aside from the complain of price, I really am liking the design look of all the Tzeenchian characters, the changeling, the blue scribes, aekold helbrass, I also really am liking the look of the monster units cockatrice and mutilant beast, I'm hoping that the rifts for The Changeling will be akin to the rifts of Belakor because this would make for a really great symbiotic co-op campaign with a friend who may be chaos or destruction aligned. Even if it's not a teleportation system, it will be really nice to mod the game to allow for different start positions because I can see the changeling manipulating various outcomes in battles everywhere in the warhammer map! It'll be really interesting to see how it can play out with partners.
@@SleepyFen GW are apparently very particular about how things are depicted, to the point where Fatshark had to argue for a long time to get an eyepatch cosmetic for Slayer Bardin in Vermintide. Despite the most famous slayer, Gotrek, having an eyepatch. If Tzaangors don't have bird features in Old World minis, theres likely nothing CA could do to convince them otherwise. I know that Old World tends to be toned down compared to AoS stuff. Things like the Mutalith are already pushing it.
@@ASpaceOstrich yeah. Iirc we've had a previous instance of GW insisting that something or someone was strictly AOS too, but I forgot which one it was.
Either that, or if it was just a bit cheaper. But hey, worst case scenario that means it'll be good value when it goes on sale! Ultimately the quality of the content will always matter more than the price to me.
If the Tzangor got to be in the Beastmen Roster, it would be cool to do a Doomstack with them under Malagor. Or at least a lot of them under Malagor together with some more flyers.
I'm most stoked for the Changeling, though I share in your sentiment that the Tzangors could look a bit better. However I was hoping we would get a generic Tzeentch hero of the melee chaos warrior variety (we still need our missing heroes!). The Tzangor Shaman could potentially come in a Beastmen DLC, which I really hope they make like the warriors of chaos DLC, to really flesh out the chaos god specific beastmen. Mother Ostankya I'm most disappointed in, but I'll comment my thoughts on that whenever you make a video on her.
His factions mechanics seem really cool for a cooperative campaign, imagine playing as the Changeling and your friend as Gelt, you inmediately go to Solland and start buffing him, then you go to Sylvania and prepare parasitic cults to help Gelt conquer the vampires
It was so cool to watch some one who doesn't instantly hate everything he sees because of the price. Awesome video as always! I really like what i saw so far. This campaign looks very unique, but still most exited for Kislev. Wish you Sotek and every one else a wonderful weekend!
The hate wasn't "instant" and it isn't "everything". People are measuring objective value by comparing price vs content of previous DLCs. Nothing is above criticism.
@@BloodwyrmWildheart the dlc can be great quality for the wrong price. But some other content creators will happily call all of it shit as long as the price isn't to their liking, and I think that's ridiculous. That's just farming outrage, and it's actively harming the community in the longer run. Content creators have a huge impact in how much people who engage with the community enjoy playing the game, and if many of them are extremely negative and pessimistic then it's going to drive players into quitting and lose faith in where the game is headed. Saying that the dlc is too expensive is fair. I think it is too. But content creators are going too far when they're using the high price to justify ridiculing the content of the dlc rather than looking objectively at whether or not the content is good in itself. Because ultimately the quality matters more than the price when you could just as easily wait until the next good sale and get the dlc at a deep discount. No one is saying you need to buy the product now or never, and the content creators who engage in farming outrage are ultimately just hurting the community and the long-term profitability of the game.
@@SleepyFen I for one am glad that some people are speaking out against this, rather than shutting up for the sake of their connection to CA. With this price, CA communicates that they now want a much higher price for at least equal (or arguably inferior) content. Even with a sale that fact wont change. Their pricing is not adjusted to inflation and not comparable to any past Dlcs. To me and most players, it wont be financially crippling, but I would feel really uncomfortable supporting this trend, especially since there is nothing keeping them from pricing the next things even higher, again without justification.
@@SleepyFen Yeah, something a lot of people do is let their overall sentiments on something colour every thought they have about something. It shows that their opinion on something is generally worthless because its based entirely on their overall feelings and not on any actual thought. Sotek called out that the price is unreasonable, but he's still going to talk about the actual features on their own merits, and that shows that his opinions on those features are worth listening to.
I´m a bit disappointed about the ROR for Tzeentch, I would love if all the new Tzeentch units got to be the RORS not just the Mutalith Vortex Beast. Then the Beastmen would also get a new ROR.
Seems like a very lore fitting and fun gameplay mechanics character, I don't think I'm that interested in playing tzeentch at the moment but yeah seems more fun than other tzeentch characters at the moment
i got way to much negative stuff going around in my life and my favorite game having drama really fucked with me so for my own health i am just gonna ignore it and try to be hyped about it. i will say tho i have yet to thing this dlc is worth the money if some of the tzeentch units gets added to beastmen i would find it a bit more worth it as it adds more stuff to more factions. and i do hope that the empire gets a clean up with mechanics as the current one punishes you heavily as most of the empire ai dies really fast when the next dlc drops as they will get something
I hope they fix the calculations that lead to ludicrous grimoire costs. Otherwise we’ll only rarely be able to use things like “force peace” due to the diplomatic relations penalty for being at war impacting the cost. I hope the “new” force rebellion actually does something when the patch drops, but if it does it will be because they fixed the hidden aspect where the rebel army is hardcoded to be suicidal and lose any battle it gets into… Not because they made the action damage the settlement’s walls.
hi loremaster of sotek, you ever gonna do some videos about OVN faction mods and do some lore about these faction at the same time? since their work is high quality and interesting to see what you think about it.
the Blue Scribes being legendary heroes makes me scared that the Masque, Epidemius and Skulltaker maybe legendary heroes aswell. I can understand the blue scribes, but if Skulltaker is a fucking legendary hero I swear to god I'm going to kill for khorne
All you listed are herold minor-demon characters. Technically the changeling is a horror and a herold of Tzeentch, so I would expect these characters to be implemented as legendary lords as well.
Many will pick up the dlc on sale instead of full price, at which point the price literally doesn't matter while the quality of the content itself is alpha and omega. I hate how so many content creators will turn downright hostile and pessimistic about the game and its future the second they can find anything negative to say about it. It actively hurts the enjoyment of the game for anyone who engages in the community, and it hurts the reputation of the game in the long run. All for a short burst of viewer engagement from people looking for crap to be angry about. So thank you Sotek. For always remaining fair, but always having the community in mind. We don't need more outrage-farming. We need people like you who will discuss things you'd like to see changed and improved from a place of wanting the game to become as good as it can be, rather than engaging in click-baity, relentlessly destructive, self-aggrandizing negativity. Your channel is ever the safe haven for those of us who just want to see the game become as good as it can be, and I greatly appreciate everything you've done and continue to do for the community.
I felt similarly about every drama around this game in the past, but this pricing is a bridge too far for me. For the past years I bought everything they put out and now I feel it should be plain to see for everyone that this doesnt have the content to justify its price. I mean its literally the same price as the Chaos Dwarves and that was already a pretty expensive dlc. Sadly most people dont care, so next time when the dlcs cost 30€ people will still justify it.
@@FUNBadTime then wait until it's on sale and your issue literally doesn't exist. We can agree that this dlc is too expensive. I think so too. But that doesn't blind me from saying whether or not the game is good, nor will I start flinging shit at CA and anyone who things differently than me. Because that sort of negativity is destructive. It drives people away and unjustly ruins the reputation of the game. Real feedback is made with the intention of things improving, and I see a lot of people who just want to fan the flames and see the game and anyone who enjoys it burn for their amusement. And then what? CA abandons the game because a pair of content creators and their fans managed to turn the community sour on the idea? Does that make us happy? Or does that mean everyone loses? I think it's the latter. And that's why I think it's annoying and pathetic whenever a content creator engages in farming outrage and commentators post shitty, venting comments whose only aim is to make everyone feel bad. They may try to excuse their behaviour by saying "they're trying to push CA to do the right thing", but really all they're doing is pouring their shit onto other people to make themselves feel better and more important. It's like watching a parent defending the fact that they just beat up their child. It's pathetic.
Everything looks amazing since it adds a completely new style of play which is thematically appropriate. Tzaangors are underwhelming, but I expect mods to fix that issue within a few months.
I love the positivity your bring to these situations Sotek, it's probably the combo of that and your knowledge that has gotten me to stick around all these years. I do like the concept of the Changeling - I'm always an advocate for CA pushing themselves to find mechanics that really fit the character in question. Hope it'll play well and be an AI that can stick around on it's own - I'm excited to finally see cultist activity in the Empire!
In general I strongly dislike how certain content creators seem all too happy to farm outrage over the smallest things concerning this title. It might earn them lots of clicks and engagement in the short term because people love to be angry about shit, but it actively harms both the game's profitability and the community's enjoyment of it in the long run. I follow most total war content creators because I love the game and want to engage with more content about it, be it disaster replays, tournaments, mod showcases or lore breakdowns. The last thing I'm interested in is sering those content creators take the comments of the most salty and destructive minority and make those out to be the sentiment of everyone. There's absolutely room to discuss things we'd love to see improve. I love to hear and read people suggest things they wish to see in the game and how they imagine things could change. But it should always come from a place of wanting to see that improvement come to life - it should never be about how "shit" the game is right now, how "nothing works", how "the developers have given up on the game" or other unhelpful, useless doomsaying garbage. I think the new dlc is expensive. Absolutely. Too expensive, even. But I also think that the content we get in that dlc so far looks good. Great, even. Just not for the price. Meanwhile, I've seen content creators ramble on and on angrily about how shit CA apparently is and how they're scamming or ripping off the players and how the dlc is actually shit because of the price. And I think that kind of rage baiting is utterly disgraceful. For this reason, I think Sotek has become by far my favorite of the content creators, because he actually seems to care about keeping the community and game alive and understands the harm that destructive criticism can cause and how the negativity of content creators can color people's enjoyment of things. And there's a big difference between fair criticism and riding the hate train for viewer engagement.
@@SleepyFen What you want, is not positivty from content creators, you want bilind consumption, if you think CA would change thier way with gentle pat of head "Pewase don't do this again" you are out of your mind lol. Toxic postivity is equally as bad as negative one.
@@TheRetifox that is a flat out lie. You just want something to rage about and it's blinding you from being able to think reasonably and make measured responses. There's a huge difference between saying "this is too expensive, but the product itself is fine" and going "this dlc is shit, CA is shit and anyone who buys this is a moron". The latter is clearly destructive and fucking annoying while the former is polite while still voicing an issue. No one wants your toxic complaining, least of us those who actually want the game to be good. If this is how you respond every time something isn't to your liking, then on behalf of those who actually have an interest in things being enjoyable, kindly gtfo and stop harassing people.
There are two types of Warhammer Total War Channels. Those who will make 2(and counting) 30 min + videos about the cost of the dlc and the death of the game and the franchise. And Sotek, who will talk about the game and what's been revealed so far.
Stuff like this a big part of why I almost entirely stopped watching certain other content creators. The negativity is ruining a big part of the community's enjoyment and faith in the game, and it's so frustrating and sad to see once-respectable community leaders engage in cheap outrage-farming.
Sotek himself already commented on the price and I think his view was spot on. Even with good mechanics, I still dont know if I should support this Dlc and thereby also support this price-increase, that is obviously totally out of proportion. Just logically nothing short of over 30 new units in a complete new faction could justify a price that is as high as the chaos dwarves, and that Dlc was already pushing it when it came to price increases.
@@FUNBadTime I'll probably wait until the Christmas sale if they don't drop the price before launch. But the content itself looks great. I can't wait to play the hags
I really hope they added in some way to cycle through the "undercities". It's annoying with Skaven and DoC to need to find click on each one instead of being able to click a "next" button like you do with cities. If all you have is a ton of these undercities it is going to be a huge pain to manage your empire.
I don't think its unfair of anyone to expect a bit more for what they're paying. The campaigns have been alright but like with the Chaos Dwarf dlc it felt like half the story was there. Or like with the RoC campaign where everyone gets a mini ending cinematic but there is nothing inside the actual campaign for each faction. Just feels a bit hollow.
I have to say that the Tzaangors still look better than what we got in the champions of chaos dlc with all the recolors. Why didn't that bother you so much?
Strongly agree with the Zongores and Cockatrice need to be in the beastmen roster. And the mutalith should be in the warriors of Chaos roster. 100% CA please make that the case.
I love the whole "actually is a cult" thing that the Changeling has going. This looks like a real Chaos cult faction. The big ones are obviously demons but they don't really feel like chaos cults and because they're free to leave the realm of chaos whenver they want, they don't really capture that demon feeling either. Changeling looks like he feels like a real Chaos faction. Big missed opportunity imo was not having the realms of chaos on the immortal empires map and having the demons all start there. I feel like theres a version of this where demons feel more like actual demons and have to use cults to summon their armies into the world
Yeah me too. It's looking like a great dlc so far, even if the price hurts. I might pick it up in the first week after launch, but we'll see. I do hope they lower the price of future dlc a bit, although I'd like to see them keep the same standard of quality.
Speaking of tzaangors and cockatrice being in beastmen roster, Minotaurs of Khorne aren't in beastmen roster are they? soo yeah don't think these will show up there either
I haven even played Tzeentch yet, unless you count that rogue army one builds with Tzeentchy stuff with WoC. :) If I wanted to play a ranged faction, Tzeentch is not my 1st choice. Probably last, honestly
Campaign mechanics seem more of a gimmick than anything tbh. The schemes are a good idea but depending on where you want to go, it'll always be the same schemes you'll pick. And you don't seem to have a lot of control over your armies either. It's a 'meh' for me.
Somewhat relevant to the Tzaangors discussion, is that I was hoping that the shared generic demon units would get a unique skin for their respective dlc, but as we see from the Shadows of Change trailer the Chaos Spawn are unchanged.
GW are notorious for depicting their own setting wrong because of branding reasons, and the Chaos Spawn are one of the bigger examples of that, since no two Chaos Spawn are ever supposed to look alike but they always look exactly the same.
The people against the BS pricing also love the game, still hopeful for the game, and passionate about the game. We just don't want to be played for suckers. I have been loyal to this series. Pre-ordered EVERY DLC the day it was announced until this one. I mean, really....They hardly add much for this price tag. You get three LLs, 1 LH, a couple centerpiece monsters, and a couple of units. No generic lords and heros, which is strange since the assets already exist and wouldnt take much to add them, and not many new unit types at all. This is less content than a 10 dollar lord pack. I don't mind the price tag IF its equal to the value of the content in it. But this one is MUCH too light for what they are asking. And they need to get it together before they lose community trust and screw over this series. Which would be a damned shame both for us who want as much content as possible, AND them, because if handled right they are sitting on a goldmine because people DO want as much as they are ready to give. But they have to do the work for it. They have to add value. And this just doesnt despite how great whats in it looks.
I think the changling and his units look really cool, but i cant get over the price increase man, like at all, maybe if i see a 50% at some point but idk
CA's dualism is awesome, aside from the price issue and lack of unit/lords/heroes, someone put their heart into this content. Units (except tzaangors) brings something and are beautiful. New mechanics seems very inventive for such an exploited game. And this is the same lazy CA that can't change five lines of code for nakai that he can RECRUIT UNITS. They're selling DLC that dosent work for months, and it's just the tip of the iceberg. We love to be milked, just give us full product
The community bugfix mod addresses a lot of issues that people have with the game, but I do wish that CA would just set aside a month for an employee of two to go through the mod and implement as much of it as possible in the base game so we don't need to look to third party solutions.
I feel sorry for anyone attempting an Ice Court playthrough these days. As if the Ice Court wasn't already surrounded by enemies they just keep adding new ones.
If we're judging by KFC prices it might get pretty expensive 😅 I suppose it also depends on whether you'd want it implemented as a monster or a campaign mechanic.
Nah man, keep hammering on the price issue, I love that you said what would earn that price tag. If we're stuck with those costs, I at least want to get our moneys worth.
As long as what we get is of good quality, I'm not all that concerned. Worst case I'll wait until the dlc is on sale before buying. Making it cheaper from the get-go would be preferable, but the shareholders probably aren't thrilled about doing that
The mechanics look fun, the tzaangors need work, the lack of generic lord/hero is massive mistake. First dlc I'm not buying at launch, which is such a weird feeling considering tzeentch is my fav chaos god. Real shame...
I agree on there are clearly some people that have put a lot of love in the DLC (it shows) but we already know how horde factions gameplay is: fun the first time and incredible boring after a short time, also the economy looks atrocious...I´m buying just because for me Warhammer it´s like the pokemons: I need to have them all
If we're talking horde mechanics like Beastmen after the update I think it can make for a great pause from the usual gameplay. Lord knows I enjoy booting up a Malegor campaign from time to time because empire management can often devolve into becoming tedious. I have a feeling the Changeling could be kind of similar, but different enough to stand out as well.
And also that the community can’t enjoy the ride. I don’t walk around Disney world and complain about the price. I enjoy myself. Wish community did this.
@@Grimmnight16 the amount of hours the game has given me over the last few years has been worth every dollar on every dlc. That being said this dlc is more expensive and doesn't really have anything to justify the price increase at this point. But maybe they haven't revealed everything? Previous dlc we've paid for still isn't working and 3 months to maybe fix game breaking bugs is pretty lousy, I feel that if some of the communities issues were dealt with instead of being ignored people wouldn't have flinched so bad. I understand why the community feels this way
You described me lol, I love the game and the time i've put it is ... crazy. I bought the DLC the second I saw it popped and went huh at the price but I play the Sims 4 and Paradox Games and those DLC's ... yeah. (Edit: After seeing how the changeling plays and I don't have to worry about base building ... I'm sold)
Looks good. Personally I decided that I will not pay from Shadows of Change more than I paid for Champions of Chaos - no matter will it be with discount or price drop. So, no pre-order from me. Since I have all other DLC's, I have plenty to play with and no need to buy this DCL now. Biggest reason why I didn't play recently TW:WH3 been bugs - it feels boring when every third battle enemy ranged units does not react at all, they just wait me to annihilate them. And since CA decided fix bugs only when new DLC and new bugs are created... Well, let's see how much I can play the game after 31.8.23 ...will it be again broken in different way?
Is it just me or does 4.0 seem like a small update? (ignoring DLC) I also wish they would buff the countless boring/inferior traits/defeat traits, surely it wouldn't take long.
I want to comment as I heard this on the great book of grudges channel but the gors look like that cause they were not allowed to use the aos version and this is also the same for any fantasy version of warhammer mobile and console/pc. Do with this info as you wish.
@@SleepyFen as I stated the great book of grudges has made a video today about it. He's the more negative take (while not being super negative) while sotek is the more optimistic take great to watch both sides of this coin.
@@williammccroskey2186 great book of grudges is generally a pretty decent channel. But I generally avoid watching content about DLCs from people other than Sotek right now because I simply don't trust anyone else (except perhaps Turin) to provide a fair review. I've been burned too much by the others in the past, and ultimately I have zero interest in outrage farmers ranting about how one of my favorite games is shit while the devs are greedy assholes who scam their customers. The content creators who engage in that sort of content are actively harming the community and the future prospects of the game with their destructive negativity and ceaseless doomsaying, and I just don't want to see it anymore.
@@SleepyFenits not really unhelpful, it is something that happens in this game. It may or may not be justified because of the ammount of content in the game, but it is a fact that regularly content breaks down and takes a long while to get adjusted or fixed.
@@FUNBadTime this sort of complaining has nothing to do with the subject of the video. It's just a snarky comment made by someone who wants to be angry about something. It's an apathetic, negative statement whose only aim was to fling shit at CA. That is not helpful. If you're frustrated or concerned with something not being fixed, then write it in a way that's sensible. Don't flip a table in the cafeteria and ask everyone else to figure out why.
Haha again 3 times they said to pre-order!! They've never been into promoting sales in their videos like this before, definitely shows the change of tack focussing on sales rather than the content.
tzaangors are confirmed for beasteman, I would hope minotaurs of korne will be added (eventually), looking forward to pestagors and slaangors ! havent heard about cockatrice though althought it would be a pretty easy add through mods (and a reskin)
I’m also excited about the content while disappointed with the amount to price ratio, definitely won’t be buying for some time. All the WH3 launch races are meh to play compared to, say, an ikit claw campaign, or a Cult of Sotek campaign. I’m excited to play them around Christmas when they’re on sale fr.
This is probably the most fair way of looking at all of this. I'm super excited as well, but the price hurts. Still, that's no excuse to be as pessimistic and destructively negative as certain content creators and commentators are right now. Pessimism and negativity will only hurt the community long-term.
I used it a lot because its free (isn't it?) but it never told me anything
@@ho8ojoe8 You did see where his armies are.
@@sagittariusa9012 never worked for me, must be another bug
They are map hacks. You can see how many armies an enemy have and where they are going through fog of war. And it was free. The ability was incredibly good. There is a reason why you get less vision on higher difficulties - knowing where your enemy is is a HUGE benefit. I have absolutely no idea how someone making a strategy game could think *free map hacks* were bad.
@@ho8ojoe8 it's not typically free but Kairos has a skill on his blue line that makes it free
wonder what CA will do with that now that they're removing Show Faction Intentions...
The mechanics look great, although it might get boring depending on how well the "parasitism" works. The free Tzeentch update doesn't have the much needed changes to cults and unholy manifestations which sucks, but the changes they made seem fine. Fuck that price though!
I honestly wanna play this in a coop campaign, that sounds fantastic
@johannesreus5154 that is actually a great idea
it's likely these are not the entire changes for Tzeentch with the wording of CA's post ("here are some of the changes for Tzeentch")
Hopefully that's the case
@@PowerPuffSoldier I too hold hope for the fact they said 'some' of the changes. Would be pretty tzeentch like to rile the community up with a seemingly unjustifiable price rise and then be like, "but you guys didn't let us reveal all this amazing new stuff and we fixed every bug"
They remove the show factions intentions: "Show Faction Intentions - we felt that this, on the other hand, wasn’t particularly useful as an action, so it’s been scrapped."
This was a core mechanic for Kairos, his skill tree used to buff this by making with a 1 turn cooldown and no grimories cost.
It wasn't a "core" mechanic. Nothing else revolved around it, and it simply didn't work. That is why they removed it. It didn't do anything.
I bet they'll forget to remove the buff.
He can use It EVERY TURN FOR FREE, he get those because HE can see into the past and future, his whole lore is build around that.
If players dont use It:
A) The game is easy and they don't need It.
B) Doesn't Work/ not reliable and should be fixed, not removed
I'm going with B ;)
Yes I cancelled my pre-order after watching MilkandcookieTWs video (he made great arguments that kinda pushed me over the edge). I really feel like the community gets worse when negativity seeps into everything. Yes the price sucks, yes content is not enough for most people and CA need to start patching like a premium game before they start asking premium prices.
I appreciate that you choose to focus on the content and not the negative stuff. The world needs more positive content and less rage bait, its a dark enough world as it is.
smart move
Thank you for supporting the community
I won’t be buying it.

Good job, sir 🫡🫡
@@SleepyFen Oh I didn't think it would be just a couple weeks, but a couple months later
The additional lords/heroes/tzaangors would only be re-skins so surely wouldn't take that long, whole new units I guess would take a couple of months to design and balance if they really wanted to do it?
Thry should have made Tzaangors ranged units with Bestigor Level stats (Gives BeastMen a new ranged unit if they ever add Them with khorne minotaurs)
-But They would have a trait 'Magically Deprived' or something, It lowers the Tzaangors melee capabilities the less Magical Ammo They have
Tzeentch may have plenty of magical ranged units already, but ranged Tzaangors would be great for the Beastmen. They only have 1 archer unit.
Borrow time, never again will the AI retreat too far away again!
besides the all the time that it will be on cooldown cause im impatient af
Yeah its always a cat and mouse game so annoying, ambush stance is the only way to get them
Never again? Can't you read? The AI can still do this on a single army.
You know, that, along the: gain movement after battle tech,
Makes him a prity kornite tzeenchien
Loving that they are trying to push some boundaries in terms of LL and their mechanics. Making each of the characters feel unique to play, even within the individual feel of each faction is a great idea.
100% they forget to change Kairos’s unique skill that makes Reveal Intentions free
You don't have to apologize for CA, you can just say that it's up to them to show that it's worth the cost.
My current longest played campaign was when I used Kairos and focused on screwing with other factions instead of empire building. It was soo much fun, I like the changes they're implimting.
I like that the Changeling doesn't take settlements. It feels right for Tzeench. I always feel weird building an empire with Kairos.
Aekold being a melee fighter would've been unique as a melee fighter, lol
Also, CA really loves to annoy us by teasing Toddy... remember "What is Mortal Empires"?
I'm really looking forward to the changeling. Those faction mechanics look not only fun and engaging, but is also unique to I'm looking forward to trying his campaign!
My question is, how can the ai defeat you as a player if you pick the Changeling? All his settlements are built on ai settlements and I doubt ai factions are going to declare war on other a factions just to wipe you out. It seems like there won't be a threat unless I'm missing something.
Also what happens to him when his army is beat through battle or auto resolve?
Beat your army. Literally lose 1 battle, campaign over
I wouldn't say it is necessarily over with 1 loss.
I would like to see CA just give the Tzaangors a glow up. Better Tzeentch armour and weapons. A Tzaangor Bray-Shaman with Lore of Beasts too.
I feel like CA was told they couldn't have any bird features on the Tzaangors since it would be too close to the Age of Sigmar design.
That is a very interesting idea. I wonder if anyone at CA could answer that in a future interview
@@SleepyFen GW are apparently very particular about how things are depicted, to the point where Fatshark had to argue for a long time to get an eyepatch cosmetic for Slayer Bardin in Vermintide. Despite the most famous slayer, Gotrek, having an eyepatch.

I really wish they leaned into variants for tzangors and a higher tier version vs a single variant being t2 unit.
I got the Shadow's of Change Trailer as an Ad for this video, as the Changer of Ways intended.
cant wait to play this one. changeling looks like the best tzeentch LL to date
You can actually turn into toddy as you could see in that mechanic screen, so hes finally acknowledged as a named legendary character!
His factions mechanics seem really cool for a cooperative campaign, imagine playing as the Changeling and your friend as Gelt, you inmediately go to Solland and start buffing him, then you go to Sylvania and prepare parasitic cults to help Gelt conquer the vampires
The goats of the changer should’ve had bow and Glaves
@@SleepyFen beautifully sad!
@@SleepyFen
I for one am glad that some people are speaking out against this, rather than shutting up for the sake of their connection to CA.
Sotek called out that the price is unreasonable, but he's still going to talk about the actual features on their own merits, and that shows that his opinions on those features are worth listening to.
the faction macanics looking cool the no empire just cult part looks interesting for a coop play
Looking forward to this dlc so much!!!
*Warhammer Fans:* make Todbringer a FLC lord, its been years!
*CA:* creates a trailer with new content beating Todbringer into the ground.
I´m a bit disappointed about the ROR for Tzeentch, I would love if all the new Tzeentch units got to be the RORS not just the Mutalith Vortex Beast. Then the Beastmen would also get a new ROR.
Been hoping for some kind of 'force peace' diplomacy option.
Sorry to hear that. I don’t know you but I really hope that things will get better for you.
I'll fucking scream if these are the only changes the faction as a whole is going to get.
they definitely made the changlings mechanics before nurgle for a reason. tamurkhan will have a similar one turning into a lord u defeat.
I want more enemies to eat with Nakai :D I am all for more interesting and unique lords like the changling.
They should rename the Tzangors into Gors of Tzeentch and give as proper Tzangors in addition. Fill the DLC with more stuff.
I would prefer toxic positivity
Thanks for the video
Their pricing doesn't mean we are not supposed to appreciate it.
Do you think with patch 4.0 Nakai's campaign will be fixed? As in that you can actually recruit Kroxigors, temple guard and certain big dinos?
I wonder if one day CA does make a faction with Egrimm van Horstmann, will it have similar cult mechanics to this or go in a different direction?
Are these schemes also available in the immortal empires campaign? Does anyone know?
I really hope they added in some way to cycle through the "undercities". It's annoying with Skaven and DoC to need to find click on each one instead of being able to click a "next" button like you do with cities. If all you have is a ton of these undercities it is going to be a huge pain to manage your empire.
looks pretty interesting
i noticed the silver road is on the realm of chaos map.
I feel like theres a version of this where demons feel more like actual demons and have to use cults to summon their armies into the world
Besides the price I’m really hyped for the shadows of change
Yeah me too. It's looking like a great dlc so far, even if the price hurts. I might pick it up in the first week after launch, but we'll see. I do hope they lower the price of future dlc a bit, although I'd like to see them keep the same standard of quality.
For the content at least, I would be much more hyped if they just included more generic characters.
Love it all. Price is completely justified. Although i would like to have seen a new lord option too. Thats fine though
i just wonder how survivable he is going to be when played by the AI
Speaking of tzaangors and cockatrice being in beastmen roster, Minotaurs of Khorne aren't in beastmen roster are they? soo yeah don't think these will show up there either
I use the rebellion to interrupt recruitment.
As the Changeling steal the Sword of Khaine.
Well, if you want to play a faction without growth then the chrofs still fit the bill.
I feel sorry for anyone attempting an Ice Court playthrough these days. As if the Ice Court wasn't already surrounded by enemies they just keep adding new ones.
How many dollars would the chicken hut be worth?
If we're judging by KFC prices it might get pretty expensive 😅 I suppose it also depends on whether you'd want it implemented as a monster or a campaign mechanic.
Nah man, keep hammering on the price issue, I love that you said what would earn that price tag. If we're stuck with those costs, I at least want to get our moneys worth.
As long as what we get is of good quality, I'm not all that concerned. Worst case I'll wait until the dlc is on sale before buying. Making it cheaper from the get-go would be preferable, but the shareholders probably aren't thrilled about doing that
The fact that you cannot shapeshift in the campaign map is a HUGE MISS. Please CA, that's probably the only thing people want from a Shapeshifter...
I too am both excited for the DLC and sad CA keep wrecking their own stuff
I'm sold)
Thank you for this. Helps get through all the negativity (justified as it may be) around the dlc :)
(ignoring DLC)
I also wish they would buff the countless boring/inferior traits/defeat traits, surely it wouldn't take long.
Will the new lords be on the map if I don't buy the DLC?
It's been the case for every previous DLC, no? Probably won't change now.
@@Hazel_Velociraptor Never had the case where I didn't buy the DLC^^
FLC - bring back FLC legendary lords for the love of god
I want to comment as I heard this on the great book of grudges channel but the gors look like that cause they were not allowed to use the aos version and this is also the same for any fantasy version of warhammer mobile and console/pc.
Do with this info as you wish.
If that info is true, it certainly is interesting and worth bearing in mind.
@@SleepyFen fair now have a nice day.
How many patches until his mechanics stop working and take 4+ months to fix?
Your comment is both destructively negative and unhelpful. I hope writing it at least made you feel better.
I am interested in the Tzeentch mechanics, but I'm not interested in either of the other factions, so I'm not going to be buying.
I want it!! You will give it to meee!
Can we please discuss how adorable the Crownen are 🥺
Still wish the discovered cult/skaven lair/pirate cove was destroyed in a battle.
Just used your fanatical link easier to swallow paying with that discount
finaly a review by the loremaster of queek, waited for it!
damn the marketing department for making me not play all of that haha
I’m also excited about the content while disappointed with the amount to price ratio, definitely won’t be buying for some time.
All the WH3 launch races are meh to play compared to, say, an ikit claw campaign, or a Cult of Sotek campaign. I’m excited to play them around Christmas when they’re on sale fr.
This is probably the most fair way of looking at all of this. I'm super excited as well, but the price hurts. Still, that's no excuse to be as pessimistic and destructively negative as certain content creators and commentators are right now. Pessimism and negativity will only hurt the community long-term.
