I dont think people realise how much the presets influenced Australian music. They were one of the first electro Aussie bands and they sung with an Aussie accent. Plus they were absolutely brilliant. Such a good band
I don't think people realise how true this witty observation is !
I absolutely love the Presets ! My dream is to see them live one day 🙏
God i love the presets
Guitar tone is absolutely killer and the bass is cookin’, one of the best and tightest covers on RUclips
Can we appreciate how good the production is on this? The mixing is superb and the drums have a proper punch to them. Even the horns sound phenomenal.
This is INSANE!!!
My heart! Fuck.
All Australians have a deeply fond place for Oils. To hear this done with such respect is all of my emotions neatly wrapped up with a bow and then exploded at a perfect moment because I'm now old enough to enjoy the button push.
That's what I can feel from these guys......they, like us, knew what the oils were talking about as kids, and now got to sing fuck yes with a killer cover that will last just as long.
Those live synths.....holy fuck.
This trumps everything. Absolutely badass. Aussie legends covering more Aussie legends
what ever
sorry you used the word "trump" in a sentence and i vomited a little
@@elizabethbennet4791 Gold !
@@elizabethbennet4791 omg, you're a TDSer. Bringing politics to even music? Go away.
This is how you do Like A Version. 10/10.
I'd give this comment four likes if I could.
Yep.... way better than hipster douchebags covering hipster douchebags.
Ty Campbell ok middle aged father of 2
@@crumbedcutlet8041 😂😂😂 not even close. Single in my late 20s.
They really need to release this as a single.
I just came across this. I thought of The Presets are listening to some of Rufus Du Sol's music. I would love to attend a concert with both of these artists.
One of the greatest like a versions ever. Wow.
'snapchat, pine gap, in every home a smashed av'. Excellent.
Awesome twist. The words to this song are burnt in my brain since the 80's and when those lyrics didn't line up I thought WTF, but then loved their modern twist to it, brilliant!
Touch Sensitive on the bass is amazing in this. The whole thing has aged really well :)
i miss the lil bants they would have at the start of the cover talking about why they picked the song
Me too haha. But people wanted a playlist of just songs.
Agree, the lead in chat adds to it.
They still do the podcast that includes all the conversation
what are the best ones? I wanna watch some good old banter.
@@ennessAU they have one from the wombats that stood out to me
I’ve been an oils fan since mid 80s when I rushed to the front of concert at Memorial Drive in Adelaide. The presets cover is the best I’ve heard for the Oils. Thanks.
Was worried they might not do this classic justice but wicked job boys.
This trumps everything. Absolutely badass. Aussie legends covering more Aussie legends
In my country (Venezuela) this moment of Midnight Oil is not well known. Those who listen to rock generally know songs like "Truganini" or "Bed's are Burning". I have the album where this song appears (with original copy on cassette), and it has always been one of my favorites. I didn't know it was so successful there in Australia, but it doesn't surprise me. It has all the characteristics of a hit.
The b sides are way better mate 👌👌
Touch Sensitive should play bass on all Presets songs tbh
Presets killing it as always!!! Yewwwwwwwwww. The only thing missing was the old P.G. dancing.
That is the problem, he is too old and he sold out. Pink batts forever?
@1993DJC what do you mean he sold out?
@1993DJC you were about to make the same comment...
@@evanevans1843 why do you say he sold out?
@@user-ke1db2ci3n With the Oils he had high ideals but joined politics and was a very insipid minister as the pink batts fiasco showed (yes, KRudd was culpable too). He should have joined the Greens but then he was smart enough to know he would not have got any thing done.
Great cover. I hope another generation of kids have this tune embedded in their psyche, like the rest of us back in '83. If you like it, check out the original Midnight Oil album.
Baby shark
That album (10 to 1) is incredible...head injuries is their masterpiece though. I never got to grow up with Midnight Oil but so lucky to have discovered them now being 23.
empireofpeaches im eleven and i do!
So lucky I was a teenager in the 80's when the Oils were at their prime. F'ing brilliant. Saw Peter Garrett in the street the other day, legend.
Bird noises is my shit, oils live on! One of my favourites
Este Cover es simplemente espectacular, me encanta que capturan la esencia del tema original, pero logran darle un estilo propio. Esto es poderoso, ¡gran trabajo!
Si
dat bass drum and guitar combo so toight toight like a tiga
One of the best like a versions ever
Finally, a MO cover! Surprised it took so long but a fine version it is! Grew up with their music and still rock it often. Really enjoy the program, keep up the good work! Regards from North Carolina 🤘
The drummer: "Yeah I'm not even gonna attempt replicating that drum solo, you just tap the keys for a bit"
Gorgeous. Merci l'Australie.
Still can't get enough of this.
Only thinking yesterday if they would cover some Oils. And a superb version indeed!
One of Australia’s treasures. Love it!
Was worried they might not do this classic justice but wicked job boys.
HOW COULD/CAN U DOUBT THE PRESETS
I was never worried.
Wonderful. Stays so true to the original. Absolutely love the Presets
Fuk me, that was great. You don’t hear many Oils covers. That’s because they’re so bloody unique. But the Presets have pulled it off. They gave it everything, just like the Oils did. And that bass guitar is one of the best designs I’ve ever seen. 10/10.
Man, Kim was loving that particularly towards the end - just smashing it like Hirst.
Well done, and mission accomplished. As a longtime Oils fan, this is sending me to learn more about the Presets.
up there with the best Like a Versions, ever.. :)
One of my favourite songs of all time, very pleased to have seen Midnight Oil do it live last year in Sydney, great cover by The Presets.
best thing to come out of TJ in years.
The first song I thought about when they announced the new LaV hottest 100!
Peter Garett will be proud of them dance moves!

Sung by another awesome band..🎶😎
Fantastic cover! Thanks for doing this one!
Mmmm what tune! The synths are beautiful! THE BRASS TOPS IT!
Although I did get a notification saying it was 'Beds are Burning' and got a bit excited.
'Power and the passion' though, aced it!!
Surprisingly, I really love this cover
Dam that bass is FN good.
Pure 🔥.
Nicely done with their own spice added
Wow...that was full on. Great version. That drummer was working his butt off!
The Presets killing it! Top shelf instrumentation... perfect LaV for #ausmusictshirtday

My first time hearing this today, Big thumbs up, awesome cover.
This is awesome
epic version 👍 hard to beat that 😎
What a foot tapper! Presets... still the best raw live electro gang on the block. Great energy. Covering the oils...not many.. if any can match the intensity so flawlessly. Thanks fellas.
Wow awesome !
They sound great!
Amazing
Best like a version all year :) (>
YEEEEEET
Bangin!!!!! Yes!
This an awesome cover
Midnight Oil is a seriously overlooked band. The presets did a great job on this one!!!
Overlooked by who?
Well done guys! Especially Michael!
Amazing 😄
Very cool!
I went looking for the original. I found this. I found this and loved it.
Excellent
GREAT JOB!
excellent job
Presets killing it as always!!! Yewwwwwwwwww. The only thing missing was the old P.G. dancing.
One of the greatest like a versions ever. Wow.
Justice is served. Snare sounds grouse. Modest. Rare spots of moog sequenced electronica fare. Sounds mastered afterwards. Justice is served. Well done. A drummer looking like he's enjoying himself. Top marks. on my twelfth listen...
Well this was awesome.
Fresh take on a classic 👍
Epic
Was worried they might not do this classic justice but wicked job boys.

Done that song justice🙌🏻
Oh, Bravo, boys. Bravo!
LIT!
Horns. Tight. Excellent
Why have they only done 1 LAV!?!? Killed it
Julian is so dope! played keys for silverchair during their diorama era tour
Classic
Very slick and as tight as one of Rob Hirsts drums. A Brilliant cover and still relevant with lyrics like "Snapchat pine gap and every home a smashed av" Mal was tough till he hit the rough"
What a fking banger.
