Because my old iPhone 8 is getting messy, I decided to declutter what’s on my phone like removing unnecessary widgets and apps from home screen.
Even though my iPhone 8 is 4.5 years old, it’s still working fine and I use it as a main camera when I film my RUclips videos!

Wow it's so nice to see people still enjoying older phones. with the pressure to constantly upgrade it's so tiring. I actually upgraded from my iPhone 8 to an 11 pro max as I was feeling left out with all the new bezel less phones around me, and plus my dying battery lasting less than 3 hours of use (Spotify for 1 hour buss rides). oh man all the great memories of my iPhone 8 are coming back, it was truly a great phone.
I totally agree with you that iPhone 8 still is a great iPhone model!
Although its battery life has been getting worse, I still enjoy using it since it’s my sub phone and I can charge it pretty much any time!
fun fact, the home button doesn't actually click, it's just a vibration that imitates the click. same goes for MacBook trackpads. thats why they dont click when they're turned off

Oh I didn’t know that! That makes sense though that Apple changed to a vibration button because physical buttons that older iPhones had broke easily! What phone do you have btw?

@@reduchimakiI would go for the SE3… the se 2 is quite slow. I’ve just upgraded from the se2 btw and it’s not that much of a price bump.. only about 30€ more but it’s so worth it imo

My dad bought me an iPad mini 6 and will not buy me an iphone. My dad still uses an iPhone 8, which despite its age, manages to fulfill his needs quite well. It goes to show that having the latest model isn't always necessary. Your video was really informative, thank you!

i mean getting the latest and the best thing is usually never necessary, just people think that it is and they are usually the apple sheep people who always buy the newest and latest apple product even tho they dont need it

I used to use an iPod like 15 years ago (not sure what model) and I think they look cute and convenient!

Fun fact: you don’t have to manually remove every app, you can remove whole pages by pressing the dots at the bottom or you can select multiple apps by holding an app and then selecting the other apps, it will stack them and you can drag them into the App Library

I used to have an iPhone 8 Plus that I got in 2019 and it was my main phone until 2021 when I got an iPhone 12 and my 8 Plus didn't get fixed for a year and it became my secondary phone and I used a secondary phone until 2023 when it locked itself because the cellular broke in the process of repairing of my 8 plus, so I just gave up on using my 8 Plus since I backed up what was important to me at that time. (e.g photos, videos, old video projects, mobile game data)

@@mymatchalatte77 My iPhone 8 plus does still turn on, it's just that I can't get it past the setup screen because Apple locks iPhones with broken cellular chips meaning that you can't just use them as a glorified iPod touch, and the flashlight doesn't work. I no longer use the iPhone 12 as my main phone anymore, I currently use the S23 ultra as my main phone.

I need to do this, I have my iPhone 8 plus layering on a drawer, but I need to be more drastic to be more productive and actually delete those cluttering apps for good.

iphone 6 and SE(1st gen) were the last to have physical button, iPhone 7 and so son have haptic touch (if u try to press it when -for example- it’s turned off, it won’t click)

I didn’t know the first SE had a physical button! Even though the home button of the SE 2, which I have, is not an actual button, I still love it!
A physical button is better than the physical button on iPhones 7-8, because if the processor is weak, it will not respond

I was gonna do that too, but I decided I’ll appreciate the natural color of my phone for a while:) I might post a video about decorating my phone with stickers in the future!
@@mymatchalatte77 Decorating it with stickers does make sense. Clear cases tend to get a yellow tint in time, due to how the material behaves (depending on how long you keep it in direct sunlight - but it eventually happens anyway). This is not on the outside, but IN the material itself, so even if you try to wash it, it doesn't go. This is why I decided to move away from clear cases moving forward.
Oh I see! Yeah the fact that color eventually turning yellow is the only thing I don’t like about clear cases. Hopefully my current one lasts long!

Even though it’s an old model, it’s still totally usable to me! But I’m thinking about getting the SE 3 after my current phone stops working!

I still kept mine on iOS 13 because 15+ feels unnecessarily bloated in customization, sometimes less truly is more. Sure it doesn’t let me hide apps like how iOS 14 would’ve, but I feel it’s more tidy creating my own folders than to deal with the auto-generated list that appears when swiping to the last page

I have an SE2 as well :D but I was kind of forced to get it as my iPhone 14 broke and I needed a device that runs iOS 17, and it was the cheapest available (got mine for 120, with 128GB storage)

This is fine and all, but why is half of the No SIM area cut off? Is it a cheap replacement screen?
Kudos to you for noticing such a detail! I put a tempered glass screen protector with white bezels a while ago but I kinda messed it up. The tempered glass is basically slightly off to the right and the bezel part is covering the actual screen a little bit. That’s why!

What is your ios version and battery health? Also, how long does it take to fully charge your phone?

The iOS on this phone is 16.7.7 and my battery health is 88%. I’d say it takes 1-1.5 hours to be fully charged!
@@mymatchalatte77 mine takes 5-6hrs. So I guess it has nothing to do with the ios version. Is your battery says "service"? Coz mine is but it also says maximum capacity 100% but I can feel that battery drains fast even if I'm not using it.
@@mymatchalatte77 is your battery percent also decreasing if not in use? Like 10% in just 2 hrs. Again, not in use. Coz my other iphone 7 isn't like that and it's only 83% batt health.

I’m not sure about the “service” because I couldn’t find that word written on my battery settings. That’s a mystery you have a 100% battery health but your battery is acting like it’s an obsolete battery for some reason:(
Is this good to use in 2024?
I personally think it is! The simplicity, the classic design, and the small size are what I love about this phone. If you don’t mind not supposed by the latest iOS, I think it’s still worth it.

About the case protection for the camera. The little thickness the case add actually gives a raised edges for the camera to be protected so when you drop in a flat surface the camera doesn’t get hit it the extra thickness from the case protect the camera. Hope my explanation make sense.

How much time does the battery lasts now
I’d say if I use it lightly like texting, watching RUclips, and listening to music, I only need to charge it until I go to bed. But if use it to film and edit videos, I charge 2-3 times a day!
Id suggest iPhone SE for those who are decided to get this 8.

Umm.. I’d say it takes 1-1.5 hours to be fully charged! Also the battery life is not bad!

Oh no! I used to have the exact same problem with you about my camera but after months of not using the phone, it got fixed naturally and I have no idea why😂 I hope yours gets fixed too or that you can get a phone with a camera that works!

@@mymatchalatte77 It has become boring, but a second phone is okay, although you can get the SE2-3, the same shape and design and everything, but the iPhone 11 processor for the second and third is a 13 processor.

How can someone justify using this phone in 2024 is beyond understanding 😵💫. If you can't upgrade to the costly present day iPhones then better just buy a solid Android Midranger, saves you money and will help you to continue your minimalism journey smoothly 👍🏻

I hope they create more phones with physical button. I have that phone before also an Ipad but switched to an android. Cause it both broke. Can't buy another iphone cause the latest ones are too expensive. Plus, I'm a heavy game user (i spent almost 3 hours screentime just playing lol) that's why i think android is much more suited for me.

But I feel like iPhone 8 is still totally usable in 2024 because I can use it to film and edit most of my YT videos! I know newer iPhones have much better quality cameras and all that, but I’m personally satisfied with what I already have right now!
