I am not a hairdresser, but even I know not to brush it afterwards or blow dry it. Doing so made you loose the actual curl and turned it I to a frizzy mess. It looked really good before she started brushing it.

But it’s stylist like this who make me glad I haven’t. She brushed it! Like that’s number one rule don’t touch it for at least 24 hours after perm. And that poor girl will probably think that is how you are suppose to take care of it too

I am a professional hairstylist . The hairdresser in this video was using incorrect rod tension. The hairdresser should not of used a blow dryer on the young girl's perm. She should of used a diffuser or a hooded dryer. This keeps the freshly permed hair from drizzling and drying out. Brushing a perm is an absolute "no-no". Using your fingers or a hair pick or possibly a wide tooth comb would create better results, along with a non- alcohol based styling product to help put shine and define the curl pattern in the hair. The results would of been totally different. This would create a softer , shinier more professional look.
James Whittler how about not piggy-backing the rods? All that long hair on one rod? How did it ever get saturated? And...did you notice her putting neutralizer back in the hair as she was picking it out? SMH my stylist brain was cringing at every mis-step.

Spongebob a diffuser is meant to be gentle on the curl pattern so it doesn't stretch ,cause frizz ,or heat damage while a blow dryer has harsh heat, stretch the curled out ,and make it frizzy and blow all around.

Friendly Tip: Always comb hair starting from the bottom then work your way up to get through kinks! The beautician is probably adding damage to your hair on top of the chemicals that were just applied, by pulling through from the top to the bottom of the hair.

Wanda McLean I agree to an extent..You absolutely have to use a pick or a wide tooth comb when your hair is wet..and yes there was frizz but I think the ends needed trimmed..But I agree with you about the scrunching...if you don’t use a pick or wide tooth comb then gently go through the hair with your fingers to get out any knots that may be in your hair..This is honestly the curliest perm I’ve ever seen on hair that long..and gorgeous color..
Wanda McLean dude, there's many different methods of hair perming. She looks pretty senior so I think she's been doing this for years. And was around when perms were the biggest thing. I think the hairdresser knows what she is doing.

I had this done in the 90s when I was in high school. Was never told to not brush it out I did right before a dance. Wound up with poodle hair🙄

She doesn’t have a lot of volume because of the fact that she has little to no layers. If they were to cut in some layers that would flatter the curls, I know that she would have some good volume for sure
