Tenkaichi 1 felt like a prototype that would be Tenkaichi 2 and 3.The game was rough but it would eventually grow into a trilogy that is still to this day people remember fondly including myself the long hours playing before school the list goes on.
I remember back in 2009-2011 it would be nearly impossible to find BT1-BT2 footage on RUclips. Never played both but I'm happy with the content we get nowadays
I don't care what anyone says, this game was revolutionary My all time favorite part of this game was that it was the first to literary feel Dragonball Z with a story mode based on power levels, I laughed so hard at this game.
Man this game was nuts. True say they improved on it with 2 (my favourite) but when this game dropped, it was groundbreaking. I remember it being teased in a ps2 magazine and my mind was blown. Never seen combat like it coming off the back end of Final bout and Budokai.
@baddworld I had a lot of fun with the story mode and I feel like the design was a bit cleaner than BT3. BT3 deffo trumps with the character roster but I just preferred 2 overall.
there were also so many secret characters that there were rumors of Super Saiyan 5 Goku being in the game. When I had it I played it nonstop when I could.
When Tenkaichi 1 came out, it blew our minds. Sure, you could not transform, but it was the first step we all wanted for a Dragon Ball game. We played the heck out of it and we were always suprrised what secret character was revealed next. At some point we even believed Super Saiyan 5 Goku was in the game due to the large amount of rumors surrounding it. I don't recall the detail but to unlock SSJ5, you had to do something specific with SSJ3 Goku during the fight against Kid Boo. At the time we wanted new Dragon Ball so badly, we believed anything. Even something like Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans special blew our mind because we thought we watched everything Dragon Ball related. It was not the best thing but we enjoyed it. Then we got Super and everything got sour... It was not fun to watch, the community was awful to interact with and even the games offered less on launch than previous ones.
Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 intro has remain the best and most unique DBZ intro, no debate whatsoever. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. (- Sheer amount de of characters - Transformations mid-battle (powering up and down) - Fusions mid-battle - Fast gameplay that has that "woah" feel - Tons of extra content - Story mode covering all sagas + movies - What If sagas - Shenron having permanent impact on game (character unlocks and whatnot) - Great tournaments that rotate availability - Edit characters with items (buffs) - 5v5 battles - Really Great and Epic Soundtracks - Destroyable environments - Entire stages could be blown up into their "destroyed" alternatives - Mission 100 being a great challenge - Artwork is 10/10 - Sound effects are great - Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World and the Raging Blast 1 and 2 and all of PSP DBZ games are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective.
despite the rough beginning you can tell this game set the standard formula that most Dragon Ball will follow afterwards. i can see elements of this game in Dragon Ball XenoVerse 1&2 but just way further expanded upon and refined.
Bro this review is great, you should cover the dbz Budokai Tenkaichi 4 mod made recently by the modding team BT4. I know it's not an official title but it's so good it may as well be
I remember when it came out thinking this game was amazing for about five minutes until I realized how shallow and useless melee combat is, considering how little damage it does. Eventually you realize you just have to spam specials/ultimates to win.
Why can't you leave 4:3 at 4:3? The wrong aspect ratio is just the worst to watch. Ah it seems you have a 16:9 patch applied to it. The beginning let me think otherwise. But there are the bugs from having not a native resolution... such a shame the emulator still does have that crap that hurts.
@@HistoryandReviews that's nonsense. A game in 4:3 should be in 4:3. Sometimes a widescreen patch can ve helpful for 16:9 but not always. You should NEVER only stretch the picture from 4:3 to 16:9. It's wrong.
I feel modern Dragon Ball games are being held back by DLC existing. They can just put the bare minimum of content into the game and put shit we used to have at launch into DLC like GT characters, Z movie characters and OG Dragon Ball characters. Do I have to keep paying for SSJ4 Gogeta? Such nonsense.
Tenkaichi 1 is one of those games with so much hidden depth in gameplay just poorly explained, very underrated in my opinion.
So it's like Sonic Riders
Noobs hate this Game

What makes 2 ur fav jw

@@DBZdude95Also presentation of 3 was much better. I did like the faster gameplay of 2 a bit more though
there were also so many secret characters that there were rumors of Super Saiyan 5 Goku being in the game. When I had it I played it nonstop when I could.
Budokai Tenkaichi was a great but I liked Budokai Tenkaichi 2 the most because of it’s extensive story mode. This game lacked a lot
It was a 3D Fighter ment for depth gameplay, just poor execution
3rd is my favorite but 2 has best story mode
Budokai Tenkaichi was my first ever DBZ game, its got a special place in my heart
Its crazy seeing how fast the combat is in 3 compared to 1

Playing these games as a kid, I didn't think Tenkaichi 1 was trash until 2 released. This game was the BEST for it's time.
Real one u ready really do it huh, review all these games out this gorgeous trilogy, subbed
Man i had a good time playing this game as a kid back in 2006 when i got my hands on this game. No problems as a 12 Year old

I only played the ones on wii. Unfortunately this one wasnt released on it same as ultimate

Nice review im waiting for the others
Great! I'm working on it

I'm glad you liked it bro! I'm going to review all the Tenkaichi games so I will try to make a video for BT4 😊
It was a slow start, but damn did it make way for Arena Fighting Games.
I think most people dont like this game because he is the most hardest of the Trilogy
I think the reason is because out of the 3, this one would by the worst
On the NA version 58 characters but US version 60 characters. But the game has only 56 characters ???
I remember when it came out thinking this game was amazing for about five minutes until I realized how shallow and useless melee combat is, considering how little damage it does. Eventually you realize you just have to spam specials/ultimates to win.
If there was a game called dragon Ball z SHOULDERS this would be it 😂😂😂

Because I am the easter bunny, and the kids believe me
BT1-3 are still untouchable. FighteZ is probably the only competition.
Nah, budokai 1 is very touchable, is really not the best one

Yeah keep walking buddy
Ngl hated tenkaichi 1
It's the worst in the trilogy
