With the rebar walls in place my first thought was manure “jail”. Great drone coverage. Congrats on getting the stalls sold! This has been a fascinating project to follow. Thank you so much for taking us along, much appreciated.
This was really cool and interesting. Always amazes me that farmers have to be accountants, mechanics, engineers, construction workers, on top of crop growing and animal care. Not to mention going to church, being at your kids parent teacher conferences, athletic events or dance recitals, going to the grocery store. Idk did I miss anything else? Oh yeah! Managing a darn RUclips channel! This young man is impressive! Keep up these great videos
Thank you so much for showing the entire process. I have wondered what the pit under the barns looks like and how it is created. You have done your usual awesome job of capturing video of it all.
When I worked for my uncle doing concrete, we always used diesel as a release agent to get form off, I’m sure it’s different everywhere you go, thanks for the video, love seeing pits get made
Good morning sir. I call you sir, even though I'm about 40 years older. You work and plan as a man with a lifetime of experience. You will keep this farm in top condition.
WOW this is fascinating....the modern day farm expensive to build. Thanks for sharing this with us, even more respect for all that you put into farming.
i can tell by the way the girls act/react, the expression on their faces and the things they say to each other that they are so very thankful they live on your farm. They really are the happiest cows on the internet!
@@reidumphrey1980 tie stall barns are nice for the cows because the feed is right in-front of them and they can lie down and eat not saying they are the best set up but you have to realize that there are pros and cons to everything as well as cost most tie stalls are older barns not everyone has the money to build new.
Hello from Northeastern Wisconsin; In 1976 when we added our milking parlor we put in 70,000 gallon slanted floor pit under the holding area. To get our permit, the floor has rebar, not wire and the sides have heavier rebar than yours does. The property has been annexed into the city, so to clean up the property I have to figure out and pay to get it removed. I hope scrap iron price keeps rising, there’s a few ton of iron in there. (That slanted floor holding area was one of our better ideas dairy farming).
First of all, thanks for saying ‘manure’, instead of other, more gross sounding terms!! Makes you sound more educated and refined. Second, this was a super interesting vid. Really shows us the ‘guts’ of what you guys do to keep your businesses running efficiently. Would love to see more of your daughter and wife.
Thanks for the update on the new build....... right now I’m in the process of a time lapse of a commodity hoop barn going up which will be out soon..... I realize all the work that goes into making your vids and just appreciate them so much good job Eric
Hi Eric this is Mike and Sherrill from Arizona. Just wanted to let you know we are really enjoying watching you guys build your new barn. We don’t get to see that too much and I find it very interesting. Keep up the great work have a great day.
It is so great that you bring us along every day on this construction project Eric. I know it is a lot of extra time and effort for you to do this, and I really appreciate it!
The floor looks like a runway. You can land the drone on it lol. I really love being able to watch your project evolve. Thanks so much for taking the time to share it. Quite an amazing amount of reinforcement in the walls and floor. Looking forward to the next one Eric. Peace for now.
Another great video. Looks like yall have a $1M barn going there at least. I had no idea there was that much involved in building a manure pit. Very impressive.
Man that’s going to be really nice!! Outstanding job with the drone. Thanks for taking the time to video and explain everything going on. So inspirational and such an awesome amazing job.
I always love watching concrete work. It think it's neat, I used to work with it a little bit years ago. Man your hands.... ugh. Mineral oil is what most concrete jobs use to keep things from sticking.
Eric what a great job filming you just get better, love being able to see your build & recycling your cow stuff & think of all the folks got some work congratulations
Looking Good! I work up in Ontario, Canada and this brings me back to when I was an apprentice crane operator, I work with a company that has concrete pumps and cranes. when I was an apprentice I built a lot of barns and pits... always a relaxing crew and learned a lot about dairy farming along the way. Times have changed, I'm with the same company and instead of building barns in the country, I'm stuck building condos in the city... lol. love the vids man! I'm leasing 5 acres this year off a family friend and dipping my feet into the agriculture world! =D
Thanx Eric . . . very entertaining & learning a lot. Didn't have "manure pits" on the dairy farm I was raised on. Did have gutters and the old style barn cleaner though.
While collecting bales late one night 8n the early 70s we jumped over a tube fence heading for the milking parlor (no chocolate cows though). Unfortunately one friend didn't know to jump over the 4 foot wide by 10 foot deep very full manure pit that had the grating removed for repairs. Bloop, he really should have kept his mouth shut. Good thing dairy farms have plenty of water pressure.
this is fantastic, watching from the ground up... a couple of months ago,I watched a pig farmer from Iowa build a new barn for 1200 pigs, start to finish, on youtube, with an Amish build crew. Looking forward to seeing your new barn come together.. 👍😎👍
The rubber stuff is called "water stop." the contractor I work for uses the same material for waste water tanks that we build. awesome drone footage to
Eric, Thank You for showing this build. I have been a Mason 40+ years. I have poured lots of concrete- looks like they didn’t put vapor barrier under the re-bar to keep ground water from penetrating floor. I don’t know code there but that is code in Northeast Georgia. Pour on that wet of ground and the wet slump makes for potential cracks! Re-bar for walls not tied to re-bar in footers????? Just stuck in concrete weakens walls. Maybe video didn’t show it but I saw no re-bar sticking up from being tied to footer! What PSI was concrete? Before wall forms arrived; the low area for pumping out didn’t have complete finish and foot prints all over that area. Did they completely slick/finish that area? I’m not trying to be negative but that much money and importance of project; I was alarmed! Maybe video didn’t show complete work or I missed something! 🇺🇸AMERICAN FARMERS🇺🇸 🇺🇸AMERICAN HEROES🇺🇸
I honestly don't know all the details. The pit was designed by an engineer and there was an inspector watching the whole process to make sure it was up to code.

Dang! That pit is ENORMOUS! That's a lot of poopie.
There's a lot of pooping cows to fill it(I mean their poop, not the cows). I also watch the Hoof GP and the amt of poops those cows expel is enormous.

They were spraying diesel on the forms. It helps to prevent the concrete from sticking to the form when the take the forms off.
If you have the ability a time lapse of the entire remainder of the build would be incredible! Great video!!
