About 20 years ago, I V8 swapped my 1972 Ford Pinto Squire wagon, which I still have. Really fun car. I didn't have an engine hoist, so I bought one from Harbor Freight. It got the job done, but after that I let it sit fully extended, and the hydraulic cylinder rusted badly. That thing was HEAVY. Me and a couple of other guys got it around in the back yard, where it now serves as a mounting base for a couple of radio antennas.
"Hello" Mrs. (Jenny) Stoney Ridge! Hopefully the Mr. will recover without "overdoing" himself. As a Spinal Injury patient, I understand his "stubbornism"... Absolutely love this Channel!
Hey I know this is a little dated, but I ordered a Vevor 2 ton engine hoist and the hydraulic cylinder was covered in fluid. Giant patch on the box. Did you guys experience anything like that with yours when you first started assembly? I'm a little worried now after looking online at vevor product reviews...
How has this held up? I can’t afford the hf 2 tone one for 360. Does this one reach long enough? The one ton hf lift only can reach near 30” many say in the reviews and that won’t reach the middle of my engine. Any advice welcomed, thank you
Ya harbor freight hoist of 12 yrs ago is leaps and bounds of what there selling today it's half thickness of what it's is today I was just comparing the one at harbor today what peice of crap.
That’s a nice hoist ! I’m sure you’ll be putting it through the paces once you fully recover , take it easy until then. I know that Vevor makes anvils and people seem to be happy with them , I’m sure you’ll be pleased with the hoist .
I just got a 2T vevor hoist. Horrible welds. Crooked parts. Saw a 2T Harbor Freight one. Beautiful welds. Better reinforced. Same price. Very disappointed.
@FarpointFarms I got the Chinese kid welding mine then. Bc Harbor Freight is made in China too. A moving company guy I know just bought a HF 2T one last 2 weeks. Same price. Vermont. Welds were perfect. Top added reinforcement was way better than Vevor's 1" steel strap. It's a roll of the dice with China. Mine is the orange one. I see yours is red and I just got mine last month. Got an email? I'll send you pics. Happy farming.
Gettin old sucks dont it? I seem to lose something everytime i go to a hospital or theyre trying to put things where i dont want them lol cool engine picker i have the harbor freight foldup hoist but i only paid 40 bucks for it at a yard sale about 10 years ago
@Farpoint Farms i thought so too i got a solvent tank from a guy on fb marketplace for 25 but had to drive 30 miles to get it but worth every cent old equipment is great 👍 maybe im just a cheap old man now lol 😆 great videos especially the C.B vids

What a way of repurposing something. I am also impressed with the pinto- I love the older weird cars that people are not fans of- like the yugo I had
That looks identical to the two-ton Harbor Freight engine hoist that I own! I modified mine and mounted it to the three point on my tractor.
Very cool! I would love to know more
The side braces should be mounted to the outside of the base. This will provide better lateral support for the mast.
Good to know.
The small wheels go in the middle. The bigger ones are back and front. If you put the big ones in the middle itll make it rock when weight is applied
thanks for that
Good to see you two! Hope your recovering and feeling well. And as always thanks for the video/ product review.
Thank you! I appreciate the support

We have not had any issues so far, I am sorry that you had issues.
Great video. Great to see Jen helping you . I enjoy your videos. Stay safe.
Thank you! Will do!
Looks very well built !! Great to see you both finally!! Great job Jen !!
it only took surgery to have her help- not sure if it was worth the surgery though lol

? What happened ?

So far it has been good. I am not sure on lifting up a large engine from far away. I think the heaver loads would be best close to it
Looks identical to the harbor freight unit. My HF hoist has been working great for 12 years. good luck with your new one.
Cool, thanks 12 years is a good run

I’m assembling mine and I’m having trouble actuating the hydraulics on the ram…any tips ?
The cylinder probably has some air in it, you will have to bleed it out. There should be a valve on the cylinder

getting better by the day- this getting old thing is not very fun
@@FarpointFarms Tell me about it
I hope your recovery is going well my friend.
Almost back to normal- getting old is real "fun"
I cannot wait what you (and Mrs. Stoney Ridge) have planned for the Interior for the "Bus Build"!
Roof mounted Solar Panels?
we do have some flexible roof panels for the bus. Winter is making the bus stuff go slow, but we will get there
Nice lifter. Folds up nice. Reasonably priced
It is, good deal if you can't afford to get a high end one for multiple projects
How has it held up?
So far I have not had any issues- I have not had it with a overly heavy weight on it so I can not respond for that part of it
Can it lift rock? Boulder
Yes. Anything under 2 tons.
You going to be the Armageddon Mechanic!
I'll take it!
I just got a 2T vevor hoist. Horrible welds. Crooked parts. Saw a 2T Harbor Freight one. Beautiful welds. Better reinforced. Same price. Very disappointed.
I've been very pleased with mine. I wonder if they changed vendors. The Harbor freight one is twice the price now.

Kinda shitty you don't specify what exact bolts where! there are different sizes
It comes with paper assembly instructions. They have the bolts listed. This video would be an hour long if I spelled out every tiny detail.

Yes, getting old is "fun"---- $40 is one heck of a deal
