Who can make the best fall inspired Desserts!?
Pumpkin Cookies Recipe
1 cup sugar
1 cup pumpkin
1/2 cup shortening
2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice
1/4 tsp salt
Heat oven to 375
Mix sugar, pumpkin, shortening. In a separate bowl mid flour, baking powder, baking soda, pie spice and salt. Stir both mixtures together. Drop by teaspoon onto a ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown 8 to 10 minutes. Immediately remove from the cookie sheet and cool on a rack. When cool spread with light glaze
Light Brown Glaze Recipe
1/4 cup butter
2 cup powder sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
1 to 2 TBSP Milk
Heat butter in a sauce pan over medium heat until delicate brown. Stir in powder sugar and vanilla. Stir in milk until smooth.
Let’s see the Crazy Middles bring three or four mystery ingredients over and Aaron and Tristan and Lucas do a Chopped type competition!

I am really impressed with Lucas making macaroons.
Cookies:
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of shortening
1 cup pumpkin
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Salt
Frosting:
1/4 cup butter
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbs milk
Mix sugar, shortening, and pumpkin in a bowl. In a separate bowl mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, pumpkin spice, and salt. Combine and mix both bowls. Drop cookies onto a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 mins @ 375. Brown butter in saucepan. Mix butter with powdered sugar. Mix in vanilla and milk. Spread on cookies.

I agree, I would love Joann’s cookie recipe! I make cookies every holiday season and they have to be soft for my son who has a disability and these look soft. Pumpkin is our favorite flavor too!

Looks like you need to invest in a couple hand mixers and some scraping spatulas so everyone can cook at the same time. (Non stick/rubber cooking utensils and a cookie scoop make things easier too) jmo

Crystal, when you need softened butter in a recipe, you can take a stick and grate it. Perfectly softened and easy to use.
Erin and Tristan, can you do a presentation on the proper use of knives. Can you explain which each knife is used for and why? Thank you so much. To be honest, I uses Scissors, choppers and a stake knife.

Crystal from what I was told buckeyes where 1st made and comes from Ohio (Buckeyes) and Indiana... plus this has been a family favorite as far back as 1970s for me....
Yes! My sister moved to Ohio and this is where Buckeyes became known to our family. We all love them!!

There are some great GF flours that I use in regular recipes! Loving this channel
My sister and niece have Celiac. We find most recipes can be switched for quality GF flour. Makes me happy that they can eat the same things that we do, with minor adjustments. 😊

A good classic recipe for a homemade bake, well explained and executed. (Love her care to put her hair in a ponytail!)
I think the recording/editing didn't do fully justice to the efforts and results.
Maybe four desserts is too much for a step by step rendition.
It's a pity the macarons weren't recorded/photographed before being cut.
Fortunately everyone got good critics.
All the desserts look good when I was a kid my favorite used to be my mom's pumpkin squares and they were all so good
I have made buckeyes before... Its good but can get messy .. make sure u melt the chocolate slowly or it will seize up . Get hard and it won't be good
I totally knew grandma was going to win! She did great including Aaron’s diet ! She really didn’t adjust her recipe just made it gluten friendly. ❤ So happy for her!

OMG! I was cracking up and very interested to see how this was going to end (the Buckeye making)...LOL! I live in Ohio and the buckeye is the state nut so Buckeye candy as you can imagine is huge! I make them year round (though people love to get them at Christmas time) and truthfully they are fairly inexpensive to make (though stores charge a fortune to buy them) but very time consuming as you learned. There also is an art to it. Next time try using a double boiler to keep the chocolate nice and melted when coating. I little hack to have them often or make just what you need fresh is to double or even triple the the center (peanut butter), roll them all out and freeze on parchment paper with the toothpicks in them. Once frozen put in gallon zip lock bags and put back in the freezer (it is fine if a few toothpicks poke through the bags, it happens). Now you can take out as many or few as you want to have fresh dipped at anytime you want. You CAN freeze them after dipped too but I don't because the chocolate won't be as pretty and sometimes gets that white look to it like when you buy a candy bar that has melted and then resolidify. Enjoy!!
Everything looked great and I will have to try the cookies!! I have a rummy recipe for chocolate chip pumpkin cookies but they come out a fluffier texture and I liked the looks of hers better. I actually did 2 years in high school for pastry chef. It involved bread making too. I loved it! The program was similar to what Savanna and Bella do. Half day your Jr. And Senior year. That was many years ago but I learned so much that I still apply to my baking and love to challenge myself on occasion to see if I still got it! LOL!

Thabks Joann for pulling your hair back when cooking and baking. Also using a scoop will get more uniform cookies. Super easy pumpkin chip cookies: use a spice cake mix, 1 can of pumpkin and 1 pkg choc chips. Mix it together. Form cookies and bake

I watch your fam all the time & really enjoy. As for your Buckeyes you are making....I grew up in Ohio and I would say Ohio State Football makes those Buckeyes a real Fall Dessert!!! There's a couple of recipes out there for making those. Boy are they RICH!!! I'm in the middle of this episode,so I'm anxious to see what your family thinks of them. Go Bucks!!!! OH-IO!!! Love all the recipes! Here in Australia we don't have "Fall" as our native trees are not deciduous so they don't lose their leaves. Also being in the Southern Hemisphere so its Winter here. Lucas made Macarons not macaroons! I would love to try the recipes but its difficult to get canned pumpkin [its not a thing here in Oz].

I just started watching Beyond Crazy and really enjoy all the cooking segments. Tristan should really do a cook book and maybe even see if he could create a cooking class either online or find a local store to sponsor it. I am in Utah and we have a grocery store that has cooking classes. He is very talented in his cooking style and is so fun to watch making it easy to follow

My kids and I make a big batch of buckeyes every year at Christmas to give out to our neighbors. We roll a 300 buckeyes at least. You're making a tiny batch. We use 1 lb of butter 2 lb of powdered sugar and 3 lb of peanut butter when we make them. But we dip them in almond bark not chocolate chips just to save a little time. When I was growing up we did do the chocolate chips

I don't think so, though Aaron knows the possibility of chickpeas and the aquafaba. Many commented that he could make his own mayonaise with it
