- G'day all, this video is more so directed at the people that have heard of but never really got into or played RoF.
(I should correct myself, I have all aircraft except Russian and not all the field upgrades)
I had a couple of online sorties on RoF and was pleasantly surprised and decided to share, the game is very enjoyable(still) and you are more than competitive without spending a dime.
Just something fresh, the download is somewhere between 16-19Gb play it, don't play it's up to you. I was just surprised it's still kicking, community is blended between the IL2 series and RoF and is very helpful and inclusive. You will find some distinct similarities between them for example the key bindings used to chat, map icons and a damage model that embarrasses it's contemporaries.
There is also bound to be some similarities between the highly anticipated IL2 BoX career mode and RoF, as I also believe Jason mentioned during an interview via TeamSpeak, so their inspiration is not just coming from IL-2 1946.

Hold off, I rescind my recommendation of purchasing any RoF, I you are interested in RoF google search IL2 flying circus, this will be the new updated version of the game by the same developers

I remember the days, back when it was common to see 40+ players all weekend on WG. It is too bad that the Multiplayer only gets notable numbers one day a week now.

It makes me sad that I missed the RoF boom, and now can only fly with maybe 6 players at most. Careers are still great fun though!

O-Ho! What could possibly make me happier than a new Checksix video? One with Rise of Flight content! As usual the editing is phenomenal, and your flying a joy to watch. You really lucked out with a dramatic sortie (that takeoff!) on such a beautiful and interesting map. That dogfight over the city put the joy of flight right back into this wretched body, now -I- have the bug again. Thank you!

This one time I played ROF and I shot another plane down. Yeah I still remember that ONE TIME fondly.
That was a really nice aerodrome to take off from. Never seen one so close to a town or factory before.

yes that was a Canadian server, I haven't flown on it before it had icons that I had turned off and was setup as a Dogfight server it was alot fun and action packed I am used to the fun being a little more spread out as you are, NewWings Wargrounds was my usual poison.
Definitely need to check it out. Looks nice.

Why did you land at the edge of town, instead of returning to the aerodrome? Was your engine damaged? Fuel leak?
That was the aerodrome, it was about 50m behind the camera view, I didn't expect to pull up so quickly
