@Rafael I met a few off duties back in the 2000's when 'Da Row' was trying to make a comeback. Hung out in their studio in the valley and met Suge. Mad sketchy vibes all around.
My father wasn’t one of the 9 prosecuted but he was one of the 24 that left the department. I was 8 years old in 99 but remember a lot in these dark times. My father worked for the department from 91-99. Perez shattered the careers of decorated officers who really were trying to make Los Angeles safer. My father was also the recipient of the Medal of Valor which is the highest decoration given for bravery when he saved his partner from a shooting in an apartment complex in Rampart (she survived). His partner was shot a few times by a suspect armed with a fully automatic assault rifle. I’m not saying all cops aren’t corrupt because clearly 9 officers were found guilty of crimes BUT Perez went on and lied about over 50 other officers. Imagine ruining the lives of so many people only to save your own skin for things they didn’t even do. This guy was a walking embarrassment and the fact that the “system” gave him immunity is beyond me. My father almost lost our home after being suspended for over a year without pay for crimes he did not commit. The city of LA just wanted all of this to go away so they threw him under the bus before they can even validate anything Perez said was true. Feds would monitor his accounts and follow my m around to see how we were living. Mind you, we still live in the same house since 1993 in Inglewood, CA. My old man drove a beat up single cab Toyota truck during all of this and my mom in beat up Honda. We never had expensive cars or even traveled. My father and his partner were both asked to come back after they realized everything was a lie and till this day i am glad he never went back. It was in that moment i knew i never wanted to follow his footsteps and become a police officer which is what i wanted to be at such a young age. The city and department believed criminals before decorated officers. Happy to say my father and i just celebrated his 54th birthday and he still keeps in contact with his former partner who also went on to get a better career outside of the department. It’s easy to make jokes about police officers who weren’t involved but until you lived the worst of times because of lies, it’s not funny. I’m proud of what my old for who he is and I’m even happier knowing he hasn’t had to put his life on the line for a crap department who didn’t have his back when he needed them the most. Just thought I’d share a personal experience since this video popped up on my recommendations. Take care guys.

So basically he was Denzel in Training Day. The guy he shot and left a paraplegic, served over 2.5 years in prison, unjustly, and they sent his offender to jail for less than 2 years. A travesty of justice. Javier Ovando deserved all of the 15 million settlement, and more, for getting shot by corrupt cops then serving 2.5 years in prison on a false conviction, after being confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life, and for the malfeasance of the legal system that assisted in getting him framed. Perez should have done at least 5-7 years hard time. He got off too easy. The cooperation with law enforcement should only have insulated him from a life sentence.
If Ovando's mom and maternal grandfather are anything like mine they'd have been up in his face, breathing down his neck, and treating him like a child on some overprotective bogus bullshit he didn't do. This is why parents should never get mad at their kids for being arrested. They should only get mad for a legitimate conviction.
Biggie and many others got caught up in “The Rampart Scandal” ... because all the commotion was goin on with the biggie and Pac beef and pac being killed by baby lane previously . They knew if they got biggie it would look like a retaliation by the west coast when biggie came back to Cali... and that’s why it blew over the way it did they did everything they could to sweep it under the rug... pac was killed by crips because the fight in MGM when he kicked Baby Lane.. which pac had nothing to do with but decided to involve himself...and biggie was killed by corrupt cops
Mack provided the car and the gun used in Biggie's murder. When Russell Poole found the car and the gun he reported his findings to the LAPD. He was then told that "they weren't going to go in that direction" and was soon removed from the case. Allegedly
Yeah I sware this is going on in Australia a fair bit, my towns become ravaged by ice and car thefts and the cops just sit there and watch the carnage and stolen cars for the most part, when rammed they run away. Can't defend ourselves with weapons legally so we're basically fked

I've been saying this for year's. I know cops in my city that cheat on their wives. If you cheat on your wife what else are you doing?? A cheater is a liar, cheater/thief....
If women come on to a man and he’s a real man, then he’ll fuck her senseless. Doesn’t make him a mass murderer. Its not always the mans fault. Women are just as much to blame.
This whole dudes situation shows to prove it doesnt matter where you come from its about what youre made of. I met real dudes from the suburbs who go harder then lames who came out of the worst part of the city.
What makes stuff like this even more insidious is the perspective. These guys see the pain, misery, violence, and destruction drugs do to families, communities, and society as a whole to people beyond the users and traffickers and dealers. Just look at the burden financially that it takes to police, prosecute, imprison, rehab, and cover medical of users and then the cost of those ancillary crimes on the victims. Its nuts.
This should’ve been a moment when all cops should’ve been investigated. Sure there are good ones, and they won’t have shit to worry about, but it’s been past time to clean up the police.
Not hard to believe. I had a client that wanted to appeal his restraining order case that consisted of one hearing that took just a couple of hours. The transcript came out to about 200 pages just for that one day. The video said this guy sat in proffer meetings with investigators and DA's 35 times.
@BARSCIENCE101 you should read "Vice: One Cop's Story of Patrolling America's Most Dangerous City" by John R. Baker and the book "COP:A True Story" by Michael L. Middleton.
Yeah it was based about this coo
If Ovando's mom and maternal grandfather are anything like mine they'd have been up in his face, breathing down his neck, and treating him like a child on some overprotective bogus bullshit he didn't do. This is why parents should never get mad at their kids for being arrested. They should only get mad for a legitimate conviction.
He was never a cop at heart. Eventually showed his true colors.
Nah that’s a normal cop
Nah fam

Today's your Training Day Officer Perez, David Mack was his Alonzo, turned him out...
His partner has been insinuated in BIGGIES murder.
Look it up
Perez and Mack ! There both pieces of shit !! And prolly had something to do with it if they didn’t do it them selfs ! If
Among robbing banks and whole lotta other shit
They were deeply involved for sure no doubt !!!
Allegedly
Sadly this is happening today all over the world
Facts 💯
Yup like that drug trace task force in Baltimore not too long ago
@@MARKEDONE47_ look at New Orleans the Big easy as well the cops there also doing businesses with the drug dealers setting them up
Yeah I sware this is going on in Australia a fair bit, my towns become ravaged by ice and car thefts and the cops just sit there and watch the carnage and stolen cars for the most part, when rammed they run away.
Can't defend ourselves with weapons legally so we're basically fked
Amazing how the largest payout in LA went to a Hispanic guy.
Was anybody else in a wheel chair?
15 million wasn't even that much. He's bound to a chair for most of his life now. That lawyer sucked. It's equivalent to about 25 million or so now. Shizweak.
I've been saying this for year's. I know cops in my city that cheat on their wives. If you cheat on your wife what else are you doing?? A cheater is a liar, cheater/thief....
Lol... cops dont have the patent on cheating, my dude. Most men are as loyal as their options...
😂 your logic is ass
Thats bullshit. In my experience in 2020, EVERYBODY fucking cheats. Maybe not all but at least 50%. Men and Women
If women come on to a man and he’s a real man, then he’ll fuck her senseless. Doesn’t make him a mass murderer. Its not always the mans fault. Women are just as much to blame.
Exactly very true
this is where training day script writers got there ispiration from,..
*their inspiration
Why didn't Officer Ricky aka Rapping Rick Ross steal this man's life instead of Freeway's?
Haha I heard one time officer Rick Ross got an award for never missing a day of work
Last time I checked there's quite a few gangsters walking around while being an "officer of the law".
The Police Department "is" the biggest gang in L.A.

All of them
This deserves to be a gangster-film.
Training Day 2001
It’s a game, san andreas
This story has already been a film and also a video game
It is it’s called training day bro
"We can crap on you from such a height, you'll think god himself has crapped on you" - Officer Tenpenny.
This whole dudes situation shows to prove it doesnt matter where you come from its about what youre made of. I met real dudes from the suburbs who go harder then lames who came out of the worst part of the city.
Im thinking his life was based on that denzel Washington movie training day
Yes except in the movie he die they mix it around to make it not like that do you remember the scene when Denzel wss speaking Spanish that proves it
The movie was based on his life
It is.. look it up.. Denzel was Spanish in training day he jus looked blac.. jus like dis dude..

Yes
So this is where Training Day was inspired from.
I can see that
@@258athletics corruption and how he's done drug raid seizures on drug dealers and keeping half the cut
Its nuts.
This hasn’t covered even half of what that man did. And the movie “Training Day” starring Denzel Washington was inspired by Perez
rampart scandal
Anyone notice the C.R.A.S.H. Thing is in GTA San Andreas?!
The CRASH unit in SA is based off the old CRASH unit in the LAPD
This dude is the inspiration for Officer Tenpenny
I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but this guy looks straight gangster, unbelievable they put a badge on him
Snitches don't get stitches, they get parole and short sentances
Nah shit
Facts 💯
I can't believe he's not still in prison I cant believe none of his transcripts stuck when he snitched on his fellow law breakers.
Honestly giving him immunity for 9 more cops and 24 quitting was worth it
Witness protection!!
Pigs get special treatment, no matter what they do
Cops always get off easy
This should’ve been a moment when all cops should’ve been investigated.
Sure there are good ones, and they won’t have shit to worry about, but it’s been past time to clean up the police.
People like R.A.P usually get tired of their life which makes them depressed and self sabotage themselfs this is clearly one example.
4500 pages? That guy sure spilled the beans lol snitched hardcore!
Lol thats almost unbelievable.. smh
Not hard to believe. I had a client that wanted to appeal his restraining order case that consisted of one hearing that took just a couple of hours. The transcript came out to about 200 pages just for that one day. The video said this guy sat in proffer meetings with investigators and DA's 35 times.
If he had never stolen from the police, he would be collecting a pension as a kingpin.
Honestly if he would’ve never got CAUGHT STEALING FROM THE POLICE , he would’ve been collecting a pension!
I feel like a good portion of this man's life was some of the inspiration behind Denzel Washington's character in Training Day.
Basically he's a SNITCH😶
He snitched on police thou that’s nice

for anyone that is interesting in this story at a deeper level, read LAbyrinth and Dead Wrong by Randall Sullivan.
Just watch the 'Murder Rap' documentary. Case closed.
TY
or watch training day lol
@BARSCIENCE101 you should read "Vice: One Cop's Story of Patrolling America's Most Dangerous City" by John R. Baker and the book "COP:A True Story" by Michael L. Middleton.
Both real good read on my opinion the first one takes place in COMPTON breaking down how Compton was in the early days and how it is now. The other book takes place in LA - NEWTON Division.
LABrynth was a great book.
Officer Tenpenny? That you?
Lmao
😂😂😂😂😂
Hes jimmy hernandez
Man, Denzel even got Perez's look down so well.
no different than many other cops these days.
