@FieldGuidetoDIY I used it today and so far it looks promising but I was wondering when it says it cures in 1 hour does that mean I can drive with it on after 1 hour or does it a full 24 hours to fully cure and harden?
Thanks for the vid. But, why is annoying music seem necessary on all DIY videos?
Carsen, I’m so glad it helped. You don’t like the music. I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks for the input. And thanks so much for watching!

Great view Eddie - love JB Weld. Once cracked a casing on my motorcycle and they wanted over $500 to patch it. A friend told me about JB Weld and I patched it for under $5.00 bucks. Great video - looking forward to the next one.
Trent Wheeler It is a great product. I used it on a curtain rod over the weekend.
Truth is, that jb weld will break down and cause extra wear on your oil pumps and any other connecting parts
I have the same problem
For small batch, the bottom of a beer can is perfect for mixing area…I used a popsicle stick
I use empty pill bottles or lids of empty jars. For mixing use corn dog sticks 😊 I reuse all I can,as I mix paints for my crafting .
Trick with using old cards (credit cards, loyalty cards, room keys, any plastic cards...). Get a pair of "pinking shears" (they cut a sawtooth pattern) - you can cut the cards and use them to spread glue... works better than just a plain card.
Brian, great tip. I need to try that out. Seems like it would work like a tile trowel. Thanks for sharing.
Would like to see you show the hold at end of video
This was really helpful, thank you! I’m brand new at learning how to do things around the house and I found your video very informative and I didn’t feel talked down to at all. Keep it up!
Maya, I am so glad you found my video and I’m so glad it helped. I hope I NEVER appear to talk down to anyone. We all approach DIY at different levels and even the most experienced general contractor out there can learn something from somebody. Thanks again.
It is not helpful being a video how to use this product. You have to clean the surfaces you're going to glue up. Simply applying the glue over the paint is just wrong.
Well, it can stick the parts together, and in this case it doesn't matter, but the surface preparation part is crucial.

Quick question. I have a discontinued double bass set of drums that I've got alot of cash tied up in, well the left leg on one of my kick drums broke tonight and i can't find one anywhere. The part that broke on the leg is like a metal looking fiberglass material but it seems very brittle. Will JB Weld work if I use it and just let it set for a few days?
Jonny Crash It is worth giving it a try. Although the kick pedal will get a lot of force and repetitive action, JB Weld Original Cold Steel is rated up to 680 pounds (your right foot isn’t that heavy, is it? 😜). Clean the contact points up real good and give it a try. You may have to come up with a creative way to clamp it until it cures (24 hours). Check out this video I did with just a little bit of contact. ruclips.net/video/LWt2vkgiPU8/видео.html. Let me know how it turns out. Good luck.
Would this product be good for sealing cracks in metal rocket type camping, tent stoves ,etc .In other words does it work for objects that are in direct flames or super heated objects ? Thanks for sharing ,very your useful info .
I’m not sure. I haven’t tested that. Maybe in a future video 😉. They say it is rated for 680 degrees but i don’t know about THAT kinda heat. Keep me posted.
Hello. My bunk bed is a metal tubular one and its a twin over full. The bottom bunk has some broken bars that are broken from the frame and now the bed is drooping. Do you think this would help?
I really think it would help. The best way to fix it would be to shore it up with some wood or metal inside like what I did with the 13 foot curtain rod. I’d cut the pipe and insert a wooden dowel or smaller piece of pipe. I hope this helps. Please keep me posted. Thanks so much for watching. ruclips.net/video/Hiu95-_3sgU/видео.html

I want to put sisolation un the underside on a metal roof. Thought on using JB weld to fix metal support lugs on the underside of the metal. Would this work do you thinks ... what approx weght might might the joint be expected to hold?
Mervyn, what a great ideas. I’m thinking the insulation would not be very heavy at all. I’m thinking 2 inch thick styrofoam sheets at the most. I’d suggest a minimum of 4 bolts through each 4 x 8 foot sheet. JB Weld is rated up to 680 pounds per square inch so I think you’re well within the tolerance. Please let me know how it goes.

I appreciate your feedback. I hope it wasn't too much of a distraction (this was my very first video and I was trying to "find myself". Thanks so much for watching.
It cures, not dries. Actually, the terminology can make a difference when a novice user touches their fix and it feels dry, it probably hasn’t cured, and they’re none the wiser, until it breaks.
Very good point Jay! It “sets” in 1 hour and “cures” in 24.
@@FieldGuidetoDIY I’ve replied to two videos, somewhat critically, though not my intent, and you’ve responded well to both. Good on you for your positive attitude.
I’ve thought about offering videos on my experiences, to offer a “better” and fuller example of what one should/shouldn’t do or expect, so I appreciate all those out there in RUclips land for following through, yourself included.
Most of my issues have already been addressed, though some are inaccurate or short on details that could make the difference between success and failure. I determined that completing a task, videoing along the way, and then editing it was waaaay more effort than I had any desire to undergo. So, I “try” to be helpful in offering my two cents. Sometimes it’s appreciated, and other times it’s poo-pooed. Such is life. 🤷♂️

Can this be used to basically weld two pipe back together my exaust on my honda came undone and I'm not spending 1000 plus to get it redone

Would this be safe for something that holds a lot of weight like a bed frame
It actually depends on how much “meat” (overlapping metal) there is. I’ve found a butt joint of the thickness of a bed frame just doesn’t give JB Weld enough surface area to be successful. Let me know how it goes. Thanks so much for watching!
HOw do you clean the top of the jb weld dispenser so the top will not stick when you put it back on?
You may need to scrape or carve off the hardened portion off the top.
Did you say equal parts when mixing the jb weld ?

Any ideas on how to apply a bead in the corners of a metal sand scoop used when metal detecting at the beach. I’d like to reinforce all the welds cause they look pretty weak. China😬
Absolutely. Mix up a batch and real quick lay it in using a popsicle stick. The longer you work with, the more likely you are to have peaks like those found in a meringue pie. You can even sand the high spots with some 120 grit sandpaper. Let me know how it goes.

I saw video how JB Weld was used to repair hinges on s10 , blazers and bravados that cause sagging . Can't find it anymore . Anyone know anything about the procedure ?
I'm not sure I understand. I once worked on an S10 that had the same thing. I had to loosen the hinge bolts and scoot them back up in position so the door would close and catch. I guess you could completely remove the hinge, slap a bead of JB Weld in there and then tighten it back up but that sounds risky. Keep us posted.
@@FieldGuidetoDIY I cleaned metal area . Covered bottom of elongated holes . Let them cure . Carefully drilled new holes . Also installed bushings and filled any void and cure . Carefully reasembled not to bind anywhere and so for its working . I'd still like to see the video. would this work on a stove kettle?
Elvis.N I believe it would. If you spread it well enough, you could seal any cracks. Also, the top of the stove will not be 680 degrees which is what JB Weld Original Cold Steel is rated for. However, do not use it if you’re using the kettle with water that will be consumed, like brewing teas or something. If it is for adding moisture to dry air, you should be good to go. Thanks for asking and thanks so much for watching!
Hi do i let it dry for 4-6 hours then wait a another 15-24 hours
Yes. Don’t touch it or move it for 4-6 hours. It is not full strength until it cures after 24 hours.
@@FieldGuidetoDIY so I wait for 30 hours total
@danteslays633 negative. 6 hours from application to move it and 24 hours from application to use it and consider it full strength.

how cold outside does this jb work at
JB Weld manufacturing says it is rated up to 67 degrees below zero once cured. I could not find anywhere the temperature at which it will not cure. I’m assuming it is above freezing but I have not tested it. Coming soon. Thanks for the question and the idea. Thanks so much for watching.

That's nice but it wasn't tested. Maybe hang the chair from a heavy tree branch and get an 800 lb. gorilla to swing from it. That would be impressive.
🤣 That WOULD be impressive. However I don’t have access to an 800 lb gorilla. However it has been over 2 1/2 years and this repair is STILL holding. Thanks so much for watching (and the suggestion).
I dunno which JB Weld company you used but mine did not bond at all. I got the Epoxy steel resin with the hardner. I was trying to bond a steel plated nut to a steel shaft on a electric motor. It never bonded and I was able to remove it with my hand after 24 hrs curing. I sanded the steel and put some acetone to make everything was clean. I did this 3 times with JB Weld. I tried 3 brands of metal glue but all the same problem. I tried super and gorilla steel epoxy and same problem. I solved the problem by getting it welded. I also was emailing JB Weld support and they check the glue and also the pictures and video I sent to them. They could not understand why it would not bond.

can it hold an engine block hole?
Not sure I follow you Juan. Are the threads stripped out? Or are you thinking about using JB Weld like Lock Tight to keep the bolt from loosening?

Would this work on a teeny hole in my cast iron radiator?
Uli, I believe it would. JB Weld is rated for high heat and up to 680 psi pressure. Let me know how it goes. Thanks so much for watching!
A little late here, but I sealed a radiator that had a broken leaking petcock with jb weld, worked fine. Has been over a year
Will this work on a saddle bike seat that keeps sliding?
It might. Is the bike seat sliding because the bolts have been overtightened? It may work but it may not. It is worth a try. I'd start with replacing the bolts if they are stripped then add the JB Weld. Keep us posted. Thanks so much for watching.
@@FieldGuidetoDIY The saddle does not slide in the normal position ( UCI approved angle). Problem is with all my bikes ( road or mountain bike) I need a 150 mm saddle and also it has to have this 30 degree angle up on the nose. Since I have very short legs I need the saddle nose up this puts extra pressure on the rails and they slide against the bracket. So will try this Jb weld then if nothing helps just use Lepage construction glue in the tube, that thing holds anything lol.

Hey boss would this work on my motorcycle oil pan. Small crack
Maine F, I would think so as it is rated up to 680 PSI and water tight and up to 300 degrees. The question I have would be whether or not the solvents in the oil and the oil itself would break down the epoxy. @@FieldGuidetoDIY Great, thanks!
Can I use this on toys?
It definitely IS strong enough for toys, I would caution you. It IS toxic so if there is ANY possibility of a little one putting the toy in their mouth, I would err on the side of caution and NOT use it for toy repair. Now if the toy is a keepsake that was a family heirloom and repaired to be put on the shelf, JB Weld away! Thanks for asking and thanks for watching.
@@FieldGuidetoDIY just to piggyback off of this toy question. My son collects action figures ($20-$50 a piece) and the heads of these action figures can be removed and replaced with other heads that came with the action figure. They are on a ball joint. One of them broke at the base of the neck and I tried using gorilla epoxy which has a rating of about 2,600 PSI. It worked for one head removal. On the second, the epoxy failed. Do you think this would work for repeat head removal on a ball joint?
@@mvparker79 i would recommend JB Weld Clearweld. I’ve done a similar repair with it. Check out these instructions ruclips.net/video/A_66N1QpF2o/видео.html. Thanks so much for watching and let me know how it goes.
It smells like hamburgers lol
SheikAshii LOL! You’re not supposed to smell it. Seriously, it is a chemical reaction so be sure to use it in a ventilated area. Thanks so much for watching.
Be sure and see our JB Weld strength test. The results may surprise you. ruclips.net/video/cUZ8b4wxDXk/видео.html
I know when mixing bondo or glaze with automotive it's well known to never mix on cardboard because components of the epoxy soak into the paper. It could result in it being tacky due to a failure of the hardener or could overall just be a weaker finished product.
So I imagine you would want to use a hard plastic flat surface that is disposable..... Cheers
John You raise a great point. Never thought of that. I did not notice much absorption of course I used a very small amount. I could see how that could be a factor w bondo and other epoxies with larger amounts. Thanks for raising this point and thanks so much for watching.
You Didn't show us if it worked!??
TWO years and still holding.
No prep work needed. Yep..proper way to use jb weld. Keep cameras rolling. Want footage of the fail too
Stop the music please
You got it, Greg! Much less use of music since this, my very first video. Thanks so much for watching!
Great sounding music. Who is this?
@greghoward9894 @@FieldGuidetoDIY
It's a cool soaring song , but the volume is up so, it doesn't bother me, I could hear you but just glancing down below the video and seeing this comment was hilarious, cuz I can just imagine all the people being blown away by the sheer volume of the music lmao 🤣😂😆😂
Hahhahh 😩 was listening just as I read the comment, music isss super corny tho. Not hating just stating 😅
Only 65 lb. strength ?
That's child's play.
It’s rated for up to 680 lbs but this was the first time I ever used JB Weld. Thanks so much for watching.
you did not show that it worked
Still holding strong a year later! Thanks so much for watching!
That’s because it didn’t
Next time drill it and threw bolt it your fix is not going to hold shit do it wright the first time
Haaa we just watch a video of a guy just putting glue on a metal stool but he didn’t test it if he can stand on it haaa
Honestly I sat down slowly. Even though it is rated for 680 pounds there was a part of me that didn’t want to fall to the floor. Thanks so much for watching.
I have tried this product and it does not work as sold 5020fps my ass!!!!!
Daire, seriously? What was the repair it failed on? All of my repairs are still holding. Thanks so much for watching!
Used it on a base of a gaming chair that gave way there last week, the weld at the bottom broke and used this product to try fix it. I mixed it right and let it set for 48 hours just to make sure I left it long enough. It lasted about 20 min and then it broke. Didn't work going to replace the base of the chair now and not use any products hopefully the screws hold better then the epoxy.
Walmart version of Adam Savage
Mike S I get that all the time (even from my own family) although I’d prefer to be described as Jamie. Thank you for watching. Are you a big user of JB Weld? This video was my very first use of the product.
Field Guide to DIY i use it pretty often, it’s a very reliable product in my experience. And no problem, thanks for the content!
Soy face thumbnail, but good video, thanks
Sorry Ashley, it was the one I was born with 😂. I’m gonna hire Brad Pitt for my thumbnails when I get a little bigger. Seriously thanks so much for watching. I appreciate it!
LMAO , Its for bonding.. looks like u r trying to paint it
