I was at the same show..I can’t agree with you more, I love to rip and left without a box because of the prices…and the “value” boxes were expensive for what they were. A lot of the dealers didn’t move on any prices even after looking at comps…only guy I did a deal with that was fair was the hockey guy
What is happening in Central Florida is happening everywhere…..I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again for those that aren’t listening. Dealers are stuck in “Covid mindset”, i.e. stick any dam price on a card and let it ride. There is no money in pockets these days. The last 4 years money has gotten tighter and tighter and tighter. Just because people go to shows does not mean the hobby is alive and well. It’s not!!!! Breakers are getting the boxes because they’re the only ones who can afford it. Gamblers buy the leftover boxes and put it on their credit cards. People are broke. My LCS said that 99% of his customers pay with plastic. That’s not a healthy hobby. The prices of the VIP package DOUBLED this year at the National. My buddy just booked 3 nights at a hotel 10 minute walk from the National and it was $2,500. They just raised parking at the National. People ain’t got that kinda money……..I could go on and on because I’m “boots on the ground” and go to all the shows. It’s a mess out there……
Good stuff, I here Pokemon is definitely grown in and at every show, just like our shows. Chester needs to open spots up to new vendors and the only show I see that at is the St. Pete show.
I set up (and still do, but less often) at shows in Philadelphia/NJ area since Fall 2023 ( through Spring 2024 it was decent sales ... then it slowed down a ton. Few look at the boxes under $5 and practically everyone who looks at the pricier stuff is just looking to get a "deal" under comps. Some cards overpriced from dealers, but I more-so see customers not willing to pick up a stack of cards and even look. Way more people trying to sell than buy, even customers.
@@BrianDonato I think this says a lot about the amount of collectors and the type of cards that are being put out by manufacturers. Thanks for the insight!
Went to the Tampa card show at holiday inn . Probably 1/3 of the table were Pokemon. Hadn’t been there in a good minute so was surprised to see that. Wanted to see some cards but offers were too low. Didn’t buy nothing or sold nothing, but still had a good time. Thank you for the video smart advice on sometimes you just have to pass on a card. Unless it’s half off sticker price right?
I skipped shows this weekend because I figured all the tables would be repetitive. That's one of the downsides of having so many shows in the area. But like you said, you can still have fun!
Out of 75 tables at my local show...half are pokemon...only like 10% have legitimate sports card for decent price the rest i dont even bother anymore...my hope is new sellers will emerge and actually want to move product but "the regulars" still trying to squeeze every penny outta customers
What is the year and number for that card in your thumbnail for the video? It's the one with Ron Artest and dogs. I don't think you mentioned it in the video.
Do the boxes start out broken up into sports and as it gets picked through get mixed up or is it mixed from the beginning? I’ve seen a lot of your videos have mixed sport boxes.
A lot of dealers mix them up intentionally I think. I'm not a fan of that, but I guess they feel it will keep people looking. I dunno...I like to keep all my stuff separate!
i collect blue waves red waves silver wave etc anything thats numbered to 99, 50, 25, 10, 5, and 1/1.. anything that's worth over $500!! most of those are numbered..
More and more it's the 50 cent box buys.😢 sometimes you want to pick up a card for the pc or to maybe hold/trade/flip down the line and it's 5x comps. I don't want to comp police every card I want to buy, but when the internet market has crashed things so low it's hard to find a middle ground. I'm sure sometimes my stuff is the cards that are over comp as sometimes you just don't want to let things go at the low comp price someone else got.
If I had a choice between that Hawk Tuah custom or the Mac Jones 1/1, I might have go with the gross girl who had her fifteen minutes of fame. I have no shows in my area.

Not much hockey there, so I think I know who you're talking about. He had his laptop out? Seems like a nice guy!

Saw a lot of base cards in $2 boxes today. Ridiculous!
@ I’ve been preaching it for a while now. They need to stick those $2 cards in 10 cent boxes……
I can only speak for prices of my Pc Player Jermaine O‘Neal. It’s crazy that seller ask for $20 for a /75 Phoenix parallel or a /199 deca prizm

That yellow case was crazy priced. Was curious of that /100 graded Duncan. Pokémon taking over since it’s so much cheaper to open.
