She Got WET & COLD in Matagalpa

It was colder than what we're used to as we stayed in the mountains of Matagalpa, Nicaragua. We hike through a small rainforest, tour a coffee farm, have good eats, drive around the city and set out for a big waterfall outside the city.

Me gustaria saber cual es el mejor lugar para vivir en Nicargua,Veo que ustedes viajan al rededor de Nicaragua . Mi esposo en 5 anos se va retirar en el momento vivimos en Glen Ellyn IL pero es muy frio y tambien el costo de vida es caro y muy rapido, estamos interesado en algo mas calmado y organico y me pueden dar una idea a donde seria un lugar tranquilo y no muy caro de vivir pero seguro. gracias

Matagalpa, definitivamente ☺ El clima es calido, los precios de la comida y alojamiento son económicos y la gente es muy amable. Ademas es un buen punto para negocios por que aqui se cultivan la mayoria de los granos basicos y hortalizas del pais, sin olvidarnos del rico café que sale de nuestras montañas. Hay tambien fincas de ganado, asi que de lo que busque aqui lo encuentra. Tiene lugares lindos donde vivir y hasta contruir su propia quinta ☺

Hola Alba! This is Eric, will reply in English so I don't trip up. For me *lived here for 5+ years) it really boils down to what you want the most. Matagalpa is a great candidate for something laid back, up in the mountains, with cool temperature and a thriving business industry. San Juan del Sur is another usual spot for expats as most of the foreign expat population and new tourists stop and congregate there; english is widely spoken unlike other places but it is a small town with relatively steeper prices due to the demand there. Managua meanwhile is more temperate and is the capital and most of what you'll need are here (especially good health care) but it is populous compared to other cities, and grittier. Hope that helps! :)
