You made a "Mr. Green Jeans" reference. I love it. Use the Kelly Green with a little red to neutralize it and made it more of an olive drab. When you mix a primary color with its secondary color it deadens it and makes it more "earthy".
Outstanding! Remember, you can do the same thing to that Weird ACU stuff that Big Army forced down everyone's throats for 10 years. Also, you can Re-Dye Pouches, Packs, Belts, Straps and other Mil-Surp Web Gear.
Good choice with the Kelly Green. I'll have to investigate what works here in SW Ohio, but as we actually have a change of seasons, I'll have to pick different ones for Spring-Summer, Fall -Winter, and Snow-Slush-Mud. Need a good Fall-Winter for a pack cover for my INCH bag, too.
Thanks for sharing. I'm going to stock some dyes. They are very useful and something you don't think about having and would want to have if the need arises.
I wonder how the old 6-Color Desert Storm camo would look if it were dyed green? Probably similar to the 'Tropic' multicam. Maybe also like to see ABU tiger stripe project
Gonna have a go at dying my 6 colour dessert camo, that ive had for almost 30 years, forest green. Not much call for dessert camo in the UKs temperate climate. Thanks for some inspiration.
Mr. Green. Jeans, I haven’t seen or heard of him since my captain kangaroo days.🤣👍 Nevertheless, you’re right I have been tinkering with Apple green so far so good it gives you like a jungle summertime green.
Dark green with light grey kinda makes a field grey color I think I used two dark greens with 1 grey and turned out pretty good. Used it in a snow parka that was i think 100 percent cotton. And i used camel on my second one as you see in my picture at the time of posting this.
That RIT brand dye makes a Forrest green, would be best, Forrest & Kelly, deep taupe (brownish-grey) luckily yours already has the darker spots. shelf lives massive I know I’ve had some 4 yrs still nothing wrong with it. As long store it correctly Cool, dry dark environment ie under sink perfect.
I did some ACUS. 4 OZ apple green, 2 tablespoons of choclate in 3 gals of Hot water n 1/2 cup salt n 1/2 cup of vinegar. Put it in water and agitate ever 15 minutes for an hour. If u do the FRACU, the come out lighter.
Do you think If you mixed the kelly green with a little bit of black that you would end up closer to a deeper, “ranger green”? Open to your suggestions and expertise as to proportions of whatever mixture of colors you think might achieve that. Great video! Thank you.
Many people make the mistake and think that camo needs to be a specific "pattern". All that is needed in an SHTF situation is to break the identifiable "human" shape when standing and trying to stealth into an environment. Several different greens (and possibly browns) in a mottled pattern would possibly do much better in blending into the environment you are in.
Back in the olden days (c.1985 -1990) you could still find 10 or 12?? Rit dye colors, powder and liquid at Demoula's Market Basket supermarkets around Boston and MetroWest Boston. Back then I recall folks were 100% SURE that you could also find all the Rit dye you could ever WANT at Walmart but if Walmart carried it I never saw any. More than one person insisted that Walmart carried Rit dye and led me on a wild goose chase. They have a name for this phenomenon it's called The Mandela Effect: When we become convinced we've seen details of everyday things usually small things that simply are not there....I digress!. When I dye clothes I like to use a machine (but NOT at a laundromat!) They DON'T like it!!! I do my fabric dying at home in my own machine. I like to get the benefit of soaking for a full intensity color and the machine's agitating action for a nice even not splotchy effect. Before you do this lay in a good supply of bleach and baking soda to get the dye residue out of your machine BEFORE you do a load of white stuff!!. Back Mesozoic Period when I began dying jeans and khakis in the bathtub. Rit did not have what they call "Dye Fixative". There are RUclips demos about it. It's largely anecdotal as to how well it works but I add it in the rinse cycle. Rit markets this fixative as helping to keep whatever dye you're using in your garments and not down the drain when you rinse. Anyway I use a couple of bottles of the Rit fixative if for no other reason than it's supposed to minimize the need for more dye for the same amount of fabric but mostly it's much cheaper than the Rit dye itself so I figure what have I got to lose?? Cheers!
While I respect your healthy skepticism, this is no ME as I went to Walmart to look for dye as well and did find a very limited selection of Rit in the sewing supplies next to some blank white t-shirts. You'll find a broad range of colors at Hobby Lobby!
Next time try Forest green. It's a bit darker than that but not as dark as dark green. You wash that kelly green a few times and you'll find that that color becomes a lot lighter.
Renaissance Marine I ran an experiment with another brand of dye and had very good results trying to get my gear to be a spruce/forrest green. There's a DF-LCS @ 26:50 in there you might like. ruclips.net/video/Pw-3Xj8BOz4/видео.html

oh yeah, i do it all the time.
It works really well on the Universal pattern ACUs. I dyed my old uniforms once we went to the new uniforms
That’s the whole reason I’m watching this
@@NonComDemon Do you use the regular dye or the dyemore

TheRealWorldPrepper southern Indiana here so about the same. What have you tried?
Thanks for sharing. I'm going to stock some dyes. They are very useful and something you don't think about having and would want to have if the need arises.
Its almost immediately apparent that the Emerald isn't as Natural looking.
good idea...hadn't really thought about that. now my mind is racing with thoughts of tie-die camo'!
Doing an extra pair of woodland tri color with gray to darken them EDIT: they are coming along nicely. Has an old faded pair and gave it a new life.
Try the APPLE GREEN fom Rit dye ...
I wonder how the old 6-Color Desert Storm camo would look if it were dyed green? Probably similar to the 'Tropic' multicam. Maybe also like to see ABU tiger stripe project
Yes, the kelly green looks better.
Nice video.
'Rah... Good vid... Always wondered what my old tri-color camis would look like dyed green... And now I know...
mix in some "chocolate brown" with the Kelly Green and you get OD
Blanca Morrone at what ratio if you know?
I also would like to know the ratio please
@@robertwest4299 rit website has formulas, I think the chocolate brown is dyemore for synthetics, od is a mix of chocolate brown and peacock green.

I heard that apple green and olive green are good options.
Thanks - I've been wanting to dye my UCP M-65 .... some color, ANY color will help that pattern - the Kelly Green result looks pretty good
Did you try it? How did it come out with the kelly green?
Does the color bleed or fade when exposed to water?
I.E., rain, walking thru a creek.
no, it sets well, but since this video i have moved to idye instead of rit. ruclips.net/video/NgTylr4h46I/видео.html
Very cool
Kelly green is awesome
Fellow Floridian here and I was just looking for this exact information
That looks badass.
What's the best rit dye to get for a coyote dessert tan to get it more olive drab?
in my limited experience the basic greeen will do that. apple green makes a brighter color, not olive drab.

I like this. It is inexpensive. I turned a pair of pants to a nice camo brown. Best

I buy the ACU crap olive drab green with dark green and brown I believe it's a half cup of green and a quarter cup of green works well for me
Is is possible to make the acu a solid od green with this

in my limited experience black just made everythign a dull dark muddy brown. dye doesnt mix the way paints do.
Awesome!!!im fightin wiith diy rit for the 4th.im from fla but live in houston now.i really like your vid
i have since switched to idye. much better!
Renaissance MarineTV whats that?
Renaissance MarineTV im sittin here screwing up more clothes..im not good at this.lol
i did two videos on it. its a better dye ruclips.net/video/NgTylr4h46I/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/JA4UH88KFyE/видео.html
Mix the two or try the dark green :)
I would think the powdered dye is much more shelf stable then the liquid dye.
i dont know! i had a package of this powdered stuff get hard on me.

I have a question, is it possible to dye 1:6 scale camouflage clothing to a flat colour like grey?
Try apple green may preform better.
Excellent comparison, thank you
Ever dye any of these black? Trying to dye some desert frogs and tryna figure out what material frogs technically are
ive done a video on dying camo black. interesting results

Sir, emerald green is much nicer to my taste. It's like Austrian military pants color.
Kelly green for deciduous shrubs, emerald for conifers.
Will they bleed later when I'm hunting and it starts raining?
no, i havent seen it bleed
Renaissance MarineTV awesome! Thank you for your video and response. I'm doing up some ACU for Florida hog hunts.
I have a black rain coat, would this turn it green?
I've got to try this
Will the Kelly Green take to white linen greatly? I want to dye a white linen dress.
i dont know how even the dye will be.
@@renaissancemarinetv3536 Okay! Thank you xx
Emerald has the “gomer Pyle usmc” look
Might help to add some black in with the green to darken it.
Danke!
Emarld Green looks like Turquoise to me.
Try using apple green it looks better
Sea foam green is nice too
Hahaha, you said "big brown spots..." lol, anyway, I like the Kelly as well.

I'd like to see apple green vs astro turf green
Apple green would look best
Mix the two or get olive
Hey, thanks for the sub. Best
I dyed my UCP boonie in black
Has anyone tried peacock green? That's all my store had
Jesus Loves You
I didn't have any luck with rit dye

Apple green works better
