Move over Jordan Peele my dude just made a three minute horror film that bodied Nope which took over 2 hours to make no point at all. This is beautiful directing reminiscent of Watiki, and the story telling flows like a Louise Bunwell film. Magnificent work.
What I find interesting about this is the questions it raised in such little time while still telling a complete and compelling story!
It feels like he was lead to the curse while the girl was just at the wrong place wrong time. I wonder if she was lead as well, in a cosmic kind of way?
Anyway your “curse in the bottle” concept is untapped and feels natural and fresh in its beach environment! We’ll done Alex!
Interesting observation. There are a lot of subtle things going on which are all up to interpretation. Is this a silent film or just nobody talking? Why does she have a different mask than him? Why do i never show his face full on. Lots of small choices that color the story even tho it’s black and white. Thanks for watching Bias !

Appreciate your comment and view. I did a lot of research for this piece, and rewatched a lot of surf movies to get the vibe just right and then added my twist.
Shooting at the beach isn’t easy either. Lots of variables to work around. But i had the story boards and vision and executed !

The opening shot hooked me right away!!!
Yes!! I wanted something all the film buffs were gonna respond to and would bring audience into the older aesthetic. Started w the analog projector and rolled right into the narrative like a one two punch 🥊
I really love the artwork on the actual curse in the bottle! The sound effects did it for me though, when he uncorked it- the sounds just lingers in such an eerie cool way. Well done!

Thank you. I definitely had a vintage conceptual aesthetic and wanted to blend in some modern vibes as well. But that’s the Cleveland in me. You know our city is always in a time warp. When everyone was listening to MP3 we were playing CDs and tapes.
