I’ve had extreme situations in my life and my way of dealing with them, beyond the nuts and bolts parts, is to process them through art. That’s the only thing that has brought me healing and the only thing that has bolstered my voice so that I can maybe be of help to first, my family, and then, I hope for others, even if it’s just by saying, “you’re not alone.”
When John Henry was diagnosed, I didn’t know very much about autism. And what I read in books was either scary, not helpful, or full of minutia and advice that just wasn’t applicable. I wish I’d had someone to tell me they knew how I felt. I wish I’d had someone who’d been where I was to tell me it was going to be crazy, but it was going to be okay.

As an autism mum x2 I now teach nonverbal autism children in a poor immigrant city and giving back and helping others has been the best thing I ever did. God gave us these children for a reason.

Teaching love is an art form that never needs an audience beyond the heart.
