Brain aneurysm - I’m lucky to be alive (was this the jam that set it off?)

  • Recorded this a few days before I had my aneurism . My doctor told me I’m lucky to be alive. 50% don’t survive. they go into comas or get other serious side effects.
    Maybe this was the jam that set it off. Consider this and everything hence, as bonus tracks. I was able to access my home computer to work on this track. Remember, jams like this tax the brain continuously. It is constant improvisation. It’s no wonder I’m mentally exhausted after one of these sessions.

      Yeah, my understanding of aneurysm is that it is a pre-existing weakness in the wall of a blood vessel unlike a clot which forms. Unlike clots which one is able to avoid getting or dissolve with medications, the set-up for an aneurysm is something you're probably born with and nothing short of surgery can fix it.

      Listening to music prevents them maybe. Creating and playing for an hour straight is very taxing. When I do it and finish I am covered in sweat and my mind is hyped up for about 30 mins. after I'm finished playing. So take it easy Robyn when you get back to playing Brother.

      That is debatable. At my rate, playing for 2-4 hours straight, total improv, this is incredibly taxing on the brain. When I'm done, I am exhausted, mentally and physically. I have no doubt that this constant strain over the last 4 months contributed to the aneurysm.

    Robin an aneurysm can be present from birth. And doctors sometimes pick them up, when routine scans are done for other things, they always tell patients its like a ticking time bomb, that could basically go off at anytime. Thank goodness, your ok, you survived, probably because you need to carry on making people so happy and inspired with your gift of music. The best medicine there is. @Patricia Hazeltine: An aneurysm is an artery that bursts, not a vein. I know firsthand because my husband died from this, and it happened to me also...only survived because it happened at the hospital where I work, and a brain surgeon just happened to be there, but when I came out of the coma, my left side was paralyzed. But I was young--42-- and after one year, I learned to walk and swallow and eat. I am recovered now, only a slight weakness on my left side. The brain surgeon said that I made a remarkable recovery because I was so young. Then was able to return to work as a registered nurse. God was good to me, as I was a widow and had six sons to raise! ,!

    • @zombienursern4909
      @zombienursern4909 3 года назад +2

      @@INTERVENTIONALRADIOL Hi! It was pretty bad. I had the right side of my head shaved, then the surgeon sawed open my skull, laid the piece of skull on a sterile towel, suctioned all the blood out...the blood was still oozing from the ruptured artery, then she (I had a woman brain surgeon) clipped it, put the piece of skull back in place, and anchored the piece with little rectangles, made of titanium. The rectangles were placed, one side on the piece of skull that had been removed, the other side on my skull (that had not been involved in the surgery) with little titanium screws anchoring the rectangle. I wish that I knew how to put a picture on here. The photos are just awesome. You can see the fresh scar and it goes around my right ear, and up onto the top of my head. You can feel the piece that got cut out...it was not perfectly fitted back together, so I have a little like divot up there. My husband died from this, but I was at work, and so was saved, so to speak.Before Robin, I have never seen a person who survives an aneurysm. That is why my profile name is zombie nurse R. N., because my surgeon said that it was a total miracle that I survived, and I even was able to return to work as an R.N.!! So that is what happened to me...Hope I did not bore you! Take care of yourself! !

I'm a guitar player also and my practice sessions are similar 3 and 4 chord progressions about 45 mins. long leads. I don't believe the music caused the aneurysm . It was probably random like it is for others who have suffered them. You are blessed to be alive. Recently less then 2 months ago a beautiful 30 year old woman on RUclips for Reef Tanks who I used to watch passed away immediately from an aneurysm. Her boyfriend said she said she had a headache and a little later he said she was sitting in a chair and her head went down she fell to the floor and died... Tragic, sad, God help us all. Yes I know what you mean, a mixture of the transcendental and the sublime, mixed with chocolate mousse and flavoured with the legendary Cat Stevens drinking freshly brewed coffee.

    Just chill for now, you will be back for sure. I have a friend who had the same thing in her late twenties,it just happened so suddenly she was told it was a weak spot in the artery in her brain. She is absolutely fine and still my friend, she has seen her kids grow up and now loves being a Granny. She was always a human dynamo,loved working and so sociable, but she learnt to pace herself better and relax more, you will too. Take care sweetheart those guitars will still be there when you are ready. Xxx

    Robin, so sorry to learn of this. Take it easy my friend and keep providing us with the sheer wonder and power of your playing. Get through this dreadful pandemic and into to some semblance of normality where perhaps we can get to see you again, not just on the streets of V but on a 'world stage' ! Keep well.

    So glad you are on the mend... I wonder if you ever jammed at the famed ...house of blues... Yale Hotel on Granville St... loved the Saturday/Sunday jams there. Incredibly talented musicians stopped by to jam... so sad it’s now gone after a 100 year run!

    Robin, I was wondering why I hadn't gotten any new video notifications from you in a long time.... I'm so sorry to hear you had a stroke! Gosh you are the second person I sub to here on YT that just had an anurism! Jimmy Houston's wife, Chris had one a few days ago. She's still in a coma... I think you are VERY lucky and blessed that you didn't have such a severe one! I hope you'll still be able to play guitar once you've recovered.... We all love you and your music! I will add you to my prayers with Chris. Remember, GOD loves you! Trust in HIM and you will be healed!
