Having Seen Mountain many times at their peak...Let me tell you that for a tribute band these Guys have nailed this ....And anybody who keeps the Music of Mountain alive is ok in my Book.....
I must say. the whole band is especially good, but I give extra kudos to the keyboard player. he is adding just whats needed to the sound without being overbearing
Superb rendition of the live version from 'The Road Goes Ever On' A superb tribute to the three members of Mountain who are no longer with us. RIP Felix Papalardi, Steve Knight and Leslie West.
The Road Goes Ever On was the first album I bought my freshman year of college. I heard it playing as I was moving into my dorm. 52 years later, I still have the LP.
Great cover. Love that the bass had the kind of “oooommmppphh” that Felix also brought to the song. Sounds like they learned this tune from the Live album. Well done.
Looks like the guitar player has the very rare Les Paul Jr, one of Leslie West's choices. This, together with his huge talent, truly make him "Leslie East" as suggested in an earlier comment.
Yes. It's hard to match the enthusiasm of all of those screaming teenage girls at the Hamamatsu Poot Park. It is lucky for this band that they have big, loud amplifiers so that they can hear their music over the screaming. This is a really good Mountain cover band.
Yes,this a very good effort. These guys have invested time into really getting the nuances! Makes me jealous that I never got to play with a good tribute band like this!
I've been listening to this song since it first came out in 1972 on the live album and for me it's the greatest pure rock song ever. So I have the song imprinted in my brain and this version by CABU is brilliant.
Holy crap That was perfection. Your tone, dynamics and soul had me in tears. You owned this from start to finish. I've never seen anybody close to playing Leslie like your man. The tone on the bass was sick ( Where did you get that EB0?) The keyboard player is better than Steve Knight. Your drummer could've been LOUDER but was steady like a heart attack. This is on my Favorite list. I saw Mountain play this and not as well.Sign me up. You have a place to stay in California.
R Matrix On any given a night the band can suck and so did Mountain. These guys have day jobs and it's a tribute band. I feel no need to retract my comment. You're right the drummer a keys aren't Knight and Laing. I've not seen better.
Robert Lane The drums and keyboards suck in this video. The Bass player is using way to much distortion, and the guitar's amp is way to loud; drowning out to whole ensemble. Sorry, I didnt mean for you to delete your initial comment. Any anticipated occurance of that happening would be equivalent to a person thinking he could swim the Atlantic to London. I meant, delete the sour comment that I correctly anticipated as to being your response. I was trying to be vague without being rude. Some people haven't got a clue as to what is good music, we must suffer with them in society. Just listen to Mountain's albums; you will discover the flawlessly immaculate fusing of Steve Knights keyboards into their music. Maybe, its because there are no abrasive discordances on any of Mountain's songs. Thereby you fail to recognize Steve Knight's flawless expertise. No other extensive hard rock musical compilation can claim that designation. And, Corky Laing is actually a better drummer than even John Bonham... formerly of Led Zeppelin. Felix Pappalardi's bass playing, lyrical compositions, and songwriting, as well as his awesome persona, is what I term as "etheral" and is simply mystical... and, mythological; (since the rhythm just occurred). Leslie West displayed his superior guitar skills from his roots; What I call: his "Mystic Guitar Stratosphere", from where he appears from and gives us "a taste" of his Mystical (Mythical) Guitar Realm. Leslie West is, and has been the "Torch Bearer" for the great classical styles of Rock, Hard Rock, Acid Rock, Blues, etc. that we all love so much; since the 1980s. To wit must be said: Eric Clapton's talent is flawless, but is "dormant", hence, living off the fumes of his ancient glory; Jimmy " Lightening in the Sky" Page's, once unassailable, patented talent, has been in complete disarray, since after the '70s, due to his massive drug consumption, and can no longer play any of the songs he created. Other great guitarist's have been well accomplished, but have only played "bit parts" in music history. Yes, Leslie West still creates the phenomenally fantastic albums as such as Mountain's. Their record compilations stand tall. Mountain, and the great members of the band, in their own right and fashion, are as legendary and fabled, being as great and nostalgic, as The Beatles.
CABU, don’t know anything about you. After listening to this, I’m a fan of CABU. this video should put you on the map of great musicians. Excellent. Captured the essence of Mountain and the band members that is Mountain.
I've watched this so many times and am always stunned at how good it is. Super bass work, excellent guitar, tight drumming and good keys. A brilliant performance guys, well done. One question, is this professionally mixed.? I can see a small desk at the side of the stage but no evidence of an off stage desk. The sound is so good I would be amazed if this was self mixed.
Hi Philip, Thank you for your encouraging comment!!! Answering your question, We’ve been recording most of our performances by Nuendo digital audio workstation taking parallel signals of mics & lines. Then I mix them and edit videos. Until 90th, this kind of thing was absolutely impossible for armature bands but now it’s the thing just do!
I never paid much attention to the words in rock songs. However, Corky Laing, John Aubel (Mountain's manager), and Richie Scarlet (who was playing bass with Mountain at the time) were hangin' out with me and some of my girlfriends after their show in Atlanta on August 7, 2004 when John decided to explain to us what a Nantucket Sleighride actually is. It's about killing whales. Google it. It's horrible. I told John not to explain anymore of their lyrics to me.
12/29/2020. Stumbled upon this a few days after leslie west's passing. Lived in Japan for awhile and plan a summer 2021 visit, COVID permitting. You guys still together? Great version of a favorite band of mine from early 70s.
Thank you so much! The news made me so sad,,,, Yes we’re still performing together. As same as everywhere, performing opportunities are quite limited now, though. Looking forward to seeing you in Japan!!! Stay safe and well!
My favorite Mountain song. I was cracking up at how the singer mangles the lyrics....it's great that they are keeping Mountain music going.. nice guitar sound.

What was a mountain concert like?
Felix Pappalardi and Leslie West would be Honored, May they Rest In Peace Infinity ♾️ ☮️ ♾️
Thank you. For Sharing.
You guys make this song sound great for no over-dubs. The guitars players tone is "epic to die for".
Bloody Hell!!! What have i just seen? Makes an old man very, very happy.
Very nice. I think I'm going to call the guitarist Leslie East...He totally nailed the thing.
yep...clever
And the bass player looks like Felix Pappalardi.

Another CABU gem.Great stuff and greetings to Japan.
Excellent, they did justice to the greatness in climbing that Mountain.
Those guys did that Very Well. They didnt copy that...they felt it.....and They Nailed It.
Great to see that the Japanese love Mountain!
Felix Pappalardi went to Japan, wrote a produced at least one Album. I wonder if these fellows were connected to him while he was there.
Ask Leslie West he may know.
+R Matrix Leslie West is a big boy and approachable - he'll still talk to you and tell you what he knows.
