    Coach, with the form shooting, how important is concentration i.e., sensing the foundation, the high of the ball, fixing eyes on point of reference, front of rim, center or back of hoop, proper arm position, and down and up flow. This is the first time I see a form shooting so quick. What entails form shooting, in other words? Thanks to all of you for all the hard work you do for us to teach us. I am 64 and still balling!

    • @ILB
      @ILB  3 года назад +3

      At the beginning- it's VERY important to really concentrate on your form- especially during these warm up style drills that are meant to quickly drill your shot!
      Saying that- over time it becomes more natural and less "thinking", but it's always good to think about your shot after you shoot and "check the boxes" in your head to make sure you're using good form...
      Or to take mental notes when you feel something is "off".
      I recommend also filming your form shooting! Sometimes what you "feel" may not match what you're doing- and an outside view can help with that.
      Love the fact you're still out there ANNND working to get better Jose!
      Now your turn! What's YOUR secret to still balling at 64?!

      jose Sandoval, you don't shoot at the front of the rim, or the back, or the middle. You take your shot so you are directly opposite one of the "net hangers" below the rim. You shoot at the bottom of the hanger where the net meets the metal. That way, you will make more shots & your shots will make that Duke Basketball swish. More around the hoop at the same distance & always aim at the bottom of the net hanger furthest from you.

What can I do to REALLY improve my ball control, sometimes when I’m dribbling and doing dribble moves I fumble the ball, like it will keep hitting the bottom of my hand and not stay on my finger pads? I assumed maybe it’s because I had weak wrists but I am getting them stronger. Also sometimes when I am shooting and I go to bring the ball up, I tend to skim my nose with ball which means I’m bringing it to close to my face, an issue I can’t seem to correct. Thank you.

    I never used to " find my range" the way he described and often would get to the court and just start dropping 3's eventho i was inconsistent and didnt know why. Considering how i shoot ( i have a weird self created shot that looks similar to jokic's form but even further back with the ball basically launching from right behind my head. The thing is i also have a very high arcing shot. These factors also influenced how consistent i was. But finding range at the start really changed a lot. Same thing with adapting how far back the ball gets cocked behind my head depending on how far from the rim i am. So inside the arc it would be at my forehead and launch in a more direct path to the rim , while outside the 3 line i would cock back fully till behind my head and make that ball kiss the moon before coming back down. ( What i like most about my arc shots is the ones i make barely even touch anything while coming down and it feels like pure perfection. )

      Hey man, this is a common problem as players step into their shot. I'd make sure to try and be conscious of giving yourself extra room. Over time it'll become more natural. I'll see if one of our Coaches can give you an indepth answer though

      Yea, I usually make my shots by matching my left foot a lil over my right keeping my hips low and left behind my right go in bout 90% of the time

      My problem is I don't really jump when I shoot, but I'm still overall pretty good when it comes to shooting. I've tried fixing this, but it's hard to cause I'm so used to shooting this way.

    I'm just a gym player, but I can shoot. Watching this video I noticed several grotesque omissions. I'll list a few: 1) Don't just aim for the back of the rim; instead, aim for the curved metal net hangers which are welded onto the rim, 2) Shoot from the same distance 10 times/game. 3) Just draw a circle around the bucket from your best distance & shoot around that circle 10x/game. 4) If you are right-handed, sight the ball so that your right middle finger, your eye, & your target are in line. 5) Do not level your head, tilt it back. The feeling is that your head is intuitively mirroring the arc of the shot. 6) Don't wave your right hand; rather, the hand and wrist make a motion as if you were pouring the ball into the hoop, and 7) when you're in close don't shoot line drives, shoot the ball on a higher arc than your normal free throw. I'm 6'2" but I jump like I'm 5'9" & I run like I'm lame, but the guys let me play because I can shoot.
