Watching the video was almost painful as it reminded me of how inadequate the game's tutorial is as it leaves out so much essential information and actions really needed to play the game with any chance of success. I really like AHU and hope it has long legs in the game world, but boy it sure needs a lot of polish to bring it up to what I consider top-tier game level. It's not exactly an Early Release or Preview Build, but it is far from complete, balanced or well- explained as yet. I had to watch a number of lets play videos to get some of the essentials down and I'm still learning the game with over 200 hours under my belt. Still, it has potential if you like detailed games that have a lot of moving parts and interacting systems.
The way I see it, this game makes way too many things needlessly convoluted, when they don't have to be. There are plenty of examples of great strategy games that you can just pick up and play, and then discover a lot of extra depth under the hood. Also, with how important the crafting system seems to be, the game's UI sure does a poor job at presenting all the effects and dependencies.
I think at this level it's okay to learn stuff. Marbs was trying some things out and was still ahead of the AI players without even slotting an amenity.
So glad i didn't buy this one. I was going to buy to get me by till civ 7, but after the first reviews saying that it's micromanagement hell, i decided against it. It does have some cool concepts like resource crafting, but it's unbalanced as hell from what I've seen, and the ui gets worse as you play. War looks like an afterthought as well. Especially in higher difficulties when you get max troop locked while the ai doesn't have a limit.

Yeah, someone said it's a fun experiment, but not a fun game, and that's a perfect way to describe it.
