This was definitely a major historical event in metal. This is up there with Metallica playing behind the iron curtain or Cannibal Corpse on Ace Ventura
@@heavymetalphilosophy it's funny. i was just making that comparison to the group chat. I'm not even that into metallica, but them performing at moscow was essentially the cultural victory lap of the west winning and the soviet union collapsing. I know it's reductive to the point of inaccuracy, but i always like to categorize it as America just mogging russia after already beating them
Love Summoning the Lich! I saw them live in December with Stormruler and some other local St. Louis bands. Appreciate the shoutout to local music from the Lou! ❤
Just went and listened to the Summoning the Lich Album (big deathcore guy myself). I just watched xTheYan’s video on the Mitch Lucker era of SS so i was craving some MySpace flavored deathcore. This gave me that… no 50bpm vocal acrobat breakdowns with wall of sound verses that the vocals sit under. Just chugs, riffs, groovy breakdowns, and solid growls. Definitely goin in the gym playlist. My Horrors Unending is a certified BANGER!
Man, you're right about COLDCELL, I passed on the advance track a while ago, but in the context of the other songs, everything is golden. Killer black metal, thanks for sending me back.
Laceration absolutely album of the week, one of the albums of the year! So good. Also worth checking out is Emperor-style black metal project "Wraithfyre". Really damn good. And Void Witch has an almighty album too!
Solid list again! This week was crazy, definitely going to check out Mountaineer. This would be my top 5... 1. Void Witch 2. Disloyal 3. Laceration 4. Wormwitch 5. Summoning The Lich We were all over each other's ballpark this week 😂
Laceration is excellent old school Death Metal! Very old school Suffocation and Goreguts inspired. The guitar leads remind me of James Murphy's style. 🤘😈
Love the content as always dude! Laceration - I Erode. It immedietly reminded me of Death Metal from the early 90s. Might be a contender for album of the year. This upcoming Thursday is the Summer Slaughter Tour, I'm unfamilair with most of the bands, but it's metal and I'll make sure I have a blast. I don't like the hate the tour is getting, if you don't like the bands just don't go, no reason to hate on the bands on the tour. Just the crap we see on IG.
Great show as always. I was interested to see what you were going to say about the Ghost album since it was in the thumbnail. I dig it, not everyone's cup of tea. My son always complains about the r/MetalForTheMasses sub having horrible taste. I explained that if you liked everything in the mainstream, that would make you mainstream. And it's okay to not be mainstream! Big popular stuff will always be big and popular and unique interesting stuff will always be uniques and interesting. Also - that Gojira performance was hard as F@#$! Huge moment for metal!
Yea I respect Ghost as artists and acknowledge their importance to the current scene, just not for me personally. Not heavy. But I'm glad they exist. I love metal. And that's a great lesson! Excellent work Dad. 🤜🤛 🤘
Just want to say that run of "and speaking of..." at the beginning really made me laugh 🤣 thanks again for the vids, I remember you chasing 666 subscribers and I'm so happy to see how the channel has grown. Keep being awesome, man!
I have not. Or at least if I have it got lost in the crushing weight of all the albums I've listened to every week 😆 I'll check them out or revisit them 😆
If you consider the history of where gorjira played, it's maybe one of the most metal performances i can think of

Yes!! Great list. 🤘🤘
I got a couple full sets of dice, if you need em, bro. The GOJIRA, power metal, and TINJA segments cracked me up. Funny episode.
😆 thank you! 🙏🤘
Hello Jon. I m french. Gojira the best metal french in jo ouverture. Great !!!!!!! The metal champion all category. Cocorico version death metal.
They are easily one of my favorite bands! 🤘
Thanks for including Absorb! 🤘
It rules! 🤘🤘

Cayegory 7, wormwitch, summoning the lich and lacerations are really good options for the week. Great work señor.
Thanks Sal! 💪🤘
Soft Play - Heavy Jelly is worth everyone's time. Not strictly metal but serious attitude and fun album.
Category 7 and Ghost 🤘🏻
🤘🤘

Haha thanks. You're an OG. Thank you! 🙏🤘
That Laceration album is pretty killer
Yes!! 🤘🤘
A wake in providence and mountaineer 🎸🤘🔥
I was quite surprised by Mountaineer. 🤘
You sold me on Coldcell
Yes!! 🤘🤘
gonna check out Category 7 and Laceration's new ones :) thank you
That's what I like to hear! 🤘
Phil Demmel with Category 7 🤘
Yep! 🤘🤘
Great stuff Jon. Thanks Oh, agreed, Ghost sucks
Thank you! I respect Ghost just not for me. Not heavy at all.
@@heavymetalphilosophy They suck LOL. All that satanist crap, no thanks
Dude have you heard of Frayle? Doom I can get behind for sure
I have not. Or at least if I have it got lost in the crushing weight of all the albums I've listened to every week 😆
I'll check them out or revisit them 😆
ColdCell, Nether and Absorb are great one's. Laceration still waiting.... Void Witch was a surprise.
Really don't care about Ghost, Powerwolf etc...
Yea not a power metal guy either. They are big bands tho so they go in the big band segment. 🤷
🤘🏽🤘🏽
🤘🤘
Keanu Reeves?
😆
I don’t like ghost either
The first 3 records were like BLUE OYSTER CULT reincarnated, but since then, it's been hose-fed baby food.
I respect them. I'm not mad at anyone that does like them... But definitely not for me. Not heavy at all.
@@heavymetalphilosophy agree
I agree! I don't consider them as a metal-band, i think rock is more fitting. They've got some good songs but Ghost isn't my cup of tea
I like Ghost but they’re not a metal band. They’re a rock band,..js.
I can see the argument. There was a time when Blue Oyster Cult was considered metal. We'd not say that now tho.
@@heavymetalphilosophy That kind of talk got Jethro Tull a Grammy for best metal album,…lol.
@@PapaCottonDCLXVI Ha!
That Category 7 album cover looks awful. It looks like a video game cover.
Agreed! 😆
Powerwolf?🤣Never👎
