....and yes... Steve Via is VERY FAMOUS if you are into guitars. He's been around for a long time. He is a hero to the guys in Polyphia and so it is really cool that he did this song with them. Steve has called Tim Henson (the dude you couldn't tell the gender of) the best new guitarist of this generation. Steve was considered by many as the best in his day. He played for Frank Zappa, David Lee Roth, and Whitesnake. Then he has mainly done his own thing since then. He is hugely influential to a large number of musicians. Polyphia has a number of songs you should check out.
...and Devin Townsend originally became known/famous as a lead singer for Steve Vai's band on the album Sex & Religion.
Steve Vai ... Halo 2 ... nuff sed
im a guitarist who grew listening to vai, it's braw that he's lifting the next generation up, polyphia an tina s for sure. passing of epochs , but vai is on a different level completely and he will not stop creating. he is truly a one off.
Never heard of Steve via 😂 sorry.... So typical to have a typo in this kinda post.
They can be classified as an instrumental progressive rock band. Great musicians.
I love how Vai comes through absolutely DRIPPING all over the end of this track.
He doesn't need to shred, he just bends sound elegantly.
I mean he had to he's like listen Tim bro yall can rip but I'm Steve Vai bro watch this and that whammy work by Steve is still bar none.. he is the whammy king
Awesome band. Their song/video G.O.A.T. is outstanding. Steve Vai is a guitar virtuoso. He is the older guitarist toward the end.
I’ve been sending him the GOAT for a whillleeee hahaha. I fricken love polyphia. Such great musicians. It’s amazing.
Agree that song is amazing!!!! They rock
Phenomenal musicians! Don’t need a genre just enjoy! Steve Vai is legendary! ✌🏻🫶🏻❤️🔥❤️🔥
This was a symbolic tapping of the band as the next king of shredding from the generally undisputed king of metal guitar. They ascend the building like Bruce Lee in Game of Death to meet the boss on his throne. The intergenerational respect (both ways) is amazing to see. Grew up worshipping Vai and love Polyphia. All are GOATS.
Polyphia (pol-IF-ee-uh) is phenomenal. Tim Henson is the guitar player at the beginning, but all four of these guys are world-class at what they do. Steve Vai (rhymes with “eye”) is internationally famous as a guitar virtuoso that got his start with Frank Zappa. If you want to check his stuff out, I recommend “The Attitude Song,” “For The Love Of God,” or maybe a fun one like “The Audience Is Listening.”
I am laughing so hard at how you are breaking this down, crayon style. LOL
Poe-Liph-Ee-UH
rofl rofl
Steve Vai is a legend!!! He redefined what playing guitar means through the years.. Polyphia are in my opinion the right successors
Steve Vai is a guitar god, so it was a huge honour for the band to play with him. Polyphia are the next generation of guitar gods, so it’s awesome to see both giving each other respect.
They are a fun band who are able to hold you interested just through their ability on their instruments, most songs are instrumentals. I personally love their song Playing God and would recommend if you want to check out another song by them!
Oh i love this thanks for the introduction BP, this will be on my playlist I would classify this as fabuloso 🤭🙏❤️
Gotta listen to G.O.A.T. phenomenal! Stoked you guys are listening to Polyphia
Thanks for this one! Love these guys!
Polyphia and Ren collab please
Hello BP and Don, you should have checked "Polyphya - ABC Feat. Sophia Black" and "Polyphia - Chimera Feat. Lil West". Those two songs have some Hip Hop influences (and both are dope!)
Polyphia does some wild stuff. They're considered progressive rock, which is a genre that pushes the boundaries of music with stuff like weird time signatures and beats. Tool, Rush, and Pink Floyd also fall into this category. Also their lead is male. His name is Tim Henson. Steve Vai is the older guitarist and he's from the band Whitesnake (amongst others). Don might know them but I don't expect BP to. Think big hair 80s rock. He's a legend.
These guys are the best thing to happen to guitar-centric music since Eddie Van Halen in 1978. Their playing is insane, and their songs are all so catchy, and they've inspired a bunch of new guitar players to start playing the impossible. Seriously though, check out Playing God.
Satriani’s Surfing With the Alien hit like Van Halen 1, but yeah, not a bunch since then.
that's called progressive rock or even Math Rock. Epic musicianship, new way of using guitars. Tim and Scott complete each other. The bassist (Clay) is wonderful, and the drummer (also named Clay) is amazing .Once you listen to one of their songs, you're hooked! Have fun with ' GOAT" , "Playing God" etc... And yes, Tim Henson (handsome!) is very easy on the eyes and a very stylish boy, but his musicianship is the real thing that turns eveybody on..;and get some people very jealous
lol that exchange at the beginning was soooo good 😄😄
Yes, Tim Henson is one good looking dude, that's just a fact (I'm straight, not blind)
If you want some vocals (and a pretty girl), check out ABC, feat. Sophia Black.
This track is funny, because Polyphia talked about "boomer bends" in an interview, and some people were offended (though they were just talking about a certain playing style, common among older guys mainly playing blues). Then comes Steve Vai and bends the shit out of those strings like crazy! Boomer bends indeed…
This is exciting! I was deep in a Polyphia rabbit hole before diving into Ren’s. Enjoy guys! 40‼️
Same bro
And same here too. We should form a society. With Polyphia’s Renaissance album, the title just wrote itself.
Same here
Steve Vai played guitarist Jack Butler (the devil) in the movie Crossroads from 1986, opposite Ralph Macchio from Karate Kid. He was in David Lee Roth’s solo band, Whitesnake, Alcatrazz and Frank Zappa’s band. His solo work is incredible. If you want to have your mind blown react to his video Teeth of the Hydra where he plays bass, double necked guitar and more all at once. It’s fairly new and incredible to see. Keep up the great reactions guys!
Steve Vai-Tender Surrender
Is the ultimate guitar song.
Steve Vai-Whispering A Prayer(live in Astoria)
Is one of the best live songs ever.
Steve Vai-making the Halo 2 theme song video is pretty amazing. He basically nailed the entire song in the first play through. Amd he did sound effects for the game like ships blowing up.
Steve is a GOAT of guitarists! Top 5... Check out Polyphia GOAT! Crazy...
The lead guitarist of the band with the delicate features is Tim Henson and he has grown famous for his ability to play really intricate and new sounding guitar rifs. He's also 29 years old which is insane because most people I know approaching 30 already look like they're past that age.
The dude at the end is BRASSTRACKS. He's worth checking out, too.
never and i mean never did i expect y’all to react to polyphia but here we are and i’m so happy
I am literally screaming STEVE VAI at my phone rn.
The first bit 😅 BP You are hilarious! Tim Henson is a pretty man though to be fair. Hahaha
Would love to see more Polyphia! 🤘
Yooo It's crazy that you mention Kanye because Tim, the first person you see in the video, still cites Kanye as one of his biggest influences forever (separating art from artist here). And since they really do the production work on their music it's nuts that you made that connection
Definitely should checkout more if this band
That is Steve Vai in the end. Absolutely one of the best guitarist out there. He actually played all the music in bill and ted movies.
Been waiting for the Polyphia hahaha. They're so good.
One of my favorite live bands. They are incredible. More please
You guys crack me up (in a good way). I loved how you paused the video and discussing is this someone famous....and while the video is paused it says across the screen featuring: STEVE VAI !
That there gentleman is Steve Vai 3 time Grammy winner 15 time nominated 10 greatest guitar player in the history of guitar players
Definitely need to watch GOAT by them for surreeee
Check out Steve Vai - Tender Surrender (live). Phenomenal guitar player. Fun fact - he played the devil and had a guitar battle with Ralph Macchio in the movie Crossroads.
the trumpet player is Brasstracks. He played on the first track of their new album. This is the last song on the album so they had him close it out.
The way he pronounced Steve Vai at the end made me laugh my ass off.
Polyphia’s “Playing God” or “GOAT” should be the next song from this band.
Now you have to go down the Steve Vai rabbit hole!!!!!
Pest part of the reaction is toward the end - Black P's face when Steve Vai throws in some crazy facial expressions while he's playing.
BP did you hear the news REN knocked the Rolling Stones off number one uk album sales chart
Steve Vai is veryyyyy famous in the guitar and metal music circle... He is hugeeeee
Absolutely fantastic and talented band - now see G.O.A.T by them. LOL, yes, you should know Steve Vai.
How have you just heard of polyphia???? Yooooo we are in for a fun couple months of these reactions hahaha. And Tim Henson is a dude 😂😂😂😂 been listening to them for a loooong time and I'm glad they are new for you guys. Hahaha Tim is just a Rockstar, Scott and both clays are just badasses get ready for a ride 😅
And bro I'm a rock fan like you are a rap fan but I know the greats of rap how you not know Steve mo fukkin Vai? 😂😂😂It's all good you are finding out now. But if you have ever seen a guitar with that handle cut out that's HIS signature guitar and has been around for decades 😂
And and if you don't listen to more of their music I will unsub 😂😂😂😂 just kidding but really you have to ❤❤
You guys will like their song G.O.A.T. they're so good.
Yeeess !u found these guys... one of my favorites is "Goat"
Steve vai been around, a lot of people first noticed him from the 'crossroads' duel, he got a lot of great songs too, 'for the love of god' might be worth checking out, he got taught by Joe Satriani (which is my favorite guitar player) if you wanna check him out sometime I'd suggest looking at something like his 'Made of Tears' live version, there's a great improv after the actual song that showcases his mastery of his craft really well, grtz from holland!
Facts, classic movie right there remember watching as a kid
Please more polyphia! Gotta react to G.O.A.T!
Just put it under the Prog blanket to feel safe. LOL
The pinky logo is a hand position when playing the guitar really high up on the neck. Brasstracks is the trumpet player. They have a song featuring him that's dope.
Polyphia is amazing! The only instrumental group I actually jam. Steve Vai is guitar superhero basically
Their music sounds amazing on a good car system.
Trumpet player is Brasstracks. He’s on another song or two on the album
I snorted when he said Bill Nye the Science Guy
Steve played john butler in the movie crossroads who is the devil's guitar player
Steve Vai is one of the top people you'll hear other guitarists put on top tier lists constantly. Always in the convo for one of the best ever. HIGHLY recommend checking out one of his newer ones - "Steve Vai - Teeth of the Hydra" where he plays a multi-functional creation.
Polyphia (especially Tim) are heavily involved in the production and have put some great content out on that process. Really cool to see how he captures some sounds and finds a lot of things through software. Love how he paid someone off Fiver for a whistle recording that he layered into a track. Super creative and insanely talented musicians for sure.
Oh...and it's common for guitarists to have an oddball fingernail or two as it allows them some different options for picking. Marcin is another good example and did a video recently with Rob Scallon where they talk about it "How Marcin breaks the internet (and his nails) with his guitar"
The trumpet is Ivan from Brasstracks 😂. Theyre a R&B duo but also produce. They produced Chance the Rappers No Problem and got a grammy for it. Hes also featured in the first song of Polyphia's last album. This is the last song so its a tie in 😉
Oh hell yes, Black P and Polyphia! They're my favorite band, here are some answers to your questions:
- Yes, it's a guy. Tim Henson. Actually has a signature guitar line from Ibanez, That's how good of a prodigy he is.
- Steve Vai is a super famous guitarist back in the day. known for his playing with that whammy solo sound that basically sang for him. He played and worked with a lot of bands back in the day, Alice Cooper, Frank Zappa, Mary J Blige.. etc.. he has a lot of acolades for his style.
- They play a lot of genre, a lot can be classified as progressive rock/Math rock/Technical music but they incorporate everything, so they're very genre bending. that drummer lays 808's and trap beats on top of jazz and hip hop and rock.
They are all pretty much masters of their instruments, music theory, and taste.
- The pinky is a polyphia sign, it's on one of their albums if I recall correctly.
If you want something more pop-ey with a vocal I suggest you React to Polyphia Feat. Sophia Black - ABC - ruclips.net/video/Mtd24QIBJ5Y/видео.html
Pure skill and talent? See Playing God- ruclips.net/video/Z5NoQg8LdDk/видео.html
Keep being you P. Love your stuff!
Steve Vai is a triple OG guitar god. He's made more albums, songs, sold more tickets, and has likely inspired more musicians than any other guitarist alive today - all while having the majority of his albums be entirely instrumental with no vocalist.
He for sure has vocals on his albums... listen to The Ultra Zone, I think there are 3 or 4 songs with vocal tracks, just to name one
@@rottentomatoplays Yes, I mis-spoke. Thank you for the info. Cheers! All the best
@scottw5253 I actually did a piece in music theory for my high school final off that album "Frank" which was Steve's homage to zappa. Really a cool album.
Cheers!
Felt like Seinfeld was coming on 😂. Not my type of music, but I appreciate it.
Tim beautiful as shit fs can't blame y'all for being confused 😅
Y’all callin Tim an female killed me😂😂 btw his ones of best guitar players of the younger generation
Come on Boyz, M. Vai is a legend
Amazing musicians. Took my daughters to see them in dallas.
The thought of having to learn this arrangement makes my brain hurt.
Lead Guitar (The one p was confused about): Tim Henson
Other Guitar - Scottie LePage
Bass - Clay Gober
Drums - Clay Aeschliman
Old guy on Guitar - Steve Vai
Trumpet Player - Brasstracks
Your going to love reacting to the rest of their stuff!! Playing God, G.O.A.T., etc
Steve Vai is a guitar god indeed! You guys should check out a Steve Vai song called For the Love of God.
one of the cool things about this video is that the legend stve vai demonstrates his "Joint Shifting" technique in it... don't ask me exactly what it is beccause i'm not a guitar expert... i just love listening to great guitarists.
14:11 Tim Henson, the lead guitarist, has actually said he gets a lot of inspiration from rappers like Kanye in term of production and composition. He has a video on his channel where he shows how O.D. was created, and it was first inspired by the Kanye's song Champions.
❤️🔥❤️
You just can't hate a real, genuine reaction
bout time ya'll got put on to polyphia
Hope to see some more polyphia!
For polyphia i would highly recomend G.O.A.T you'll get to see each member have therr own parts. And for steve vai either tender surrender or for the love of god
Steve Vai is your favorite guitarists favorite guitarist
So funny there are so many memes and commentary I've heard about how Tim Henson confuses men because they find him so beautiful and they don't know how to feel about it. I think that's what he meant, but hey Tim is simply beautiful for beauties sake doesn't matter what he is but he. You'd be blind and lying not to find him pretty but he is definitely a he. Tim Henson actually creates the music digitally and he sends it to Scott to tweek his part as well as the other guys and they send it back and then they all figure out how to actually play it. He shows his process in a video it's pretty amazing. Also, all their guitars are designed by them then created for them by Ibanez. You should watch the play throughs where Tim plays the whole songs by himself. Scott and Clay the drummer do play through videos as well so you can see just how truly amazing they are. The trumpet player is on another one of their songs that starts the album and this song ends the album so he's on it too. The trumpet is Brasstracks.
Listen to Yankee Rose from David Lee Roth. He was also the guitar player that battled against Ralph Macchio in crossroads.
Tell us you’re not very musically inclined without telling us
Them: wtf is a Steve Vai?
Steve Vai (V-i) has been really popular among people learning guitar since the 80's. He does all kinds of crazy things with his guitar (his song "Bad Horsie" sounds like his guitar is a literal horse) and does crazy things onstage like pretending to make love to his guitar. He is considered a guitar god.
With that said: Steve Vai said he recorded a solo for this song that he had arranged himself and sent it to Polyphia. They returnes his message asking if it could be more "like this" and said they had chopped up his solo and run some of it backwards and made it all crazy. He agreed and that shows the massive respect he has for the band.
Steve vai is an absolute legend and was an idol to both Tim and Scott from polyphia! I'd love to see you react to some of his solo works. "Tender surrender" and "For the love of god" are some of the best guitar tracks ever made in my opinion. Steve literally sings with the instrument and its a sight to see, he's also super humble and a great person to interact with🙇♂️
As a former Vai worshipper in my youth I second this. Also check out his start with the late great Zappa to see how he developed his sound. And gotta see him play the devil’s axe man in Crossroads!!
I respect this band’s sweater game. I think we need a sweater throw down between Tim and Prof!!
They are playing in a style called math rock a sub genre of rock. Uses poly rhythms, tapping, complex cords and note structures
Hi there Black Pegasuuuuus! Tim Henson is revolutionizing guitar playing in this era of music. I thoroughly enjoy Polyphia.
So awesome they know they're supposed to know steve vai
I’m glad you have stepped into math rock. Tim is one of my favorite musicians. He’s amazing.
"Is this someone we should know? Who is this?" while feat. Steve Vai is on screen 🤣
Glad you noticed at the end :)
Awesome first time reaction to polyphia 🔥
They do a Collab with a rapper in a song called 'Chimera' which you should check out. They have 2 videos of this song so make sure you do the B&W video because you can watch them perform rather than the picture of a demon.
It's a song that combines flamenco, metal, and hip-hop.....crazy 🤯
the last guy is called Steve Vai, def one the greatest. Known to orgasm the guitar 😆
Steve vai is an amazing guitarist. Gotta dive down there music man!
There are a couple of other Polyphia songs y'all might really like... they are a little more digestible to Polyphia newbies. Highly skilled and phenomenal band...
8:25 you kinda hit on part of the magic of polyphia. Tim, the guy with the tattoos and the shorter black hair, has said before that because they don't use vocals, parts are written specifically to fill that gap - melodic guitar parts if you will.
As a straight 37 yo male... yes, Tim is a very beautiful man
The old guy is Steve Vai. To truly have your mind blown you should check his Teeth of the Hydra video.
Steve Via is a guitar god. Polyphia are all gods of bad ass music. I like to call Polyphia's music, music for musicians. Ego Death is their polite way of showing off rheir chops. Lol
Steve vai is that guy..: he did the halo theme freestyle basically
I related to the confusion at the beginning I had the same confusion first time watching the playing God video
