I'd honestly want to find that Savage human just to paint his hair brown and have a good Tarzan figure
Or paint his hair black and use him as a Conan figure...Which I may do.
@@williamporter7596 I'm not thinking that would look right. The haircut doesn't match the haircut described in the original stories written by REH or some of the first comic adaptations.
Normal He-Man has a more Conan appropriate haircut.
If masterverse gets a Man-E-faces with a removable head that Orko might mean we can finally re-enact that 1 scene in the filmation cartoon.
Great review! I just picked up one today! Going to use it as a Ka-zar in my Marvel display!
Yup, the Savage He-Man fig is a solid one until you realize that it’s a shoddy representation of the character in the show. You’re spot on that they should’ve used the Skelegod body. Weird. The Orko is perfect, and imho one of the best we’ve ever gotten. Side by side, and I actually think that CGI new one is pretty cool too. And I’m pretty sure most of us did the head swap on these figs. Good stuff.
Savage He-Man is probably the best looking version of the character in this line. Orko's not great, but at least he sticks to the theme of being WAY too huge, when compared to the other toys in his line.
Me and my buddy were thinking the same thing we were wondering why he didn't have a more booked up body but this kind of feels like a Tarzan / comic adaption of savage human also I found that using the NECA circular stand plugs work great on these new He-Man figures they stand up perfectly and it looks great especially if you get the clear one
I never thought about reusing the Skelegod body... that makes more sense, but well I supose this is contain the cost and put Orko in the package. But now I need a big buckly Savage Heman.
Repaint a battle cat to a tan like colour and bingo Zabu and this Savage becomes Ka-Zar lol dont even need to customise anything on him he just is Ka-Zar. Way to small for motu and a bit big for a marvel legends match up but perfect if just dig the lord of the jungle :)
Great review! Thank you! Yeah, I wish the Savage He-Man would've been bigger, too, but I mostly wanted this set for the Orko, anyway. Yeah, it was a fair amount to pay for what's essentially a 2-pack of custom fodder, but the way Masterverse figures were selling out online or unavailable in my area at the time, I wasn't about to risk seeing if this would hang around and go on clearance.
Isn't it a different chest from the other He-Man? The Neck angle looks further forward on this one. Also, it seems wider.
It's not the exact same torso. Take off the heads and compare the necks and you'll see the difference.
yeah the upper half of the torso is different..
@@adyprime Not just the torso, the lower calf between the knee and foot is slightly longer as well.
I just picked up master's of the universe origins fisto today he looks awesome
Hopefully Mattel releases a larger version of Savage He-Man in the future
I finally got Savage He Man. And the wash got into the joints and has seized up the right leg. Even after heating up the joints. I can see the joint bending. It won't come loose. I'm Tempted to return him.
What i did with my Savage He Mans neck was to cut a notch in the back of the neck to allow the ball joint to go further back and hold the head upright. I also found tilting the chest back as far as possible helped as well. Ibought my figure to make a Conan figure but as i've needed to buy the He Man for the booted feet i guess i'll still have a Savage He Man.
My Orko's base was loose to but only at the top where it connects to the figure. I took the head and scarf off mine to look at the articulation on the arm and his left arm was cracked at the joint. I dont know if it came cracked or not ( as soon as i touched his arm when i pulled him out of the box i noted how plyable it was so i was really careful to not grab him by his arm) so just be careful with his arms cause they are thin. All in all i love the Orko figure and I hope we get a 2 pack of both classic and Orko Returned (white robe Orko) or pack them with 2 other figures we need a Prince Adam so maybe classic with him and pack the other with Sorceress (Teela, Teela-Na or Evil Lyn) or a Figure I would love to see is a Transforming He-man cast in a translucent blue plastic with colored swirls of pink, yellow so it looks like how he did when he is transforming and pack a orko with that.
It’s a solid two pack which I really like, the Orko figure came out great. We need Orko (the white) to come out now preferably with Sorceress Teela or Dark-Lyn
This is the part where someone jokes that you can just put the existing Evil Lyn head on this He-Man body and call it done. I mean, she DID come with a spare...
Savage He-man looks good to be modded into the Street Fighter Ken Master
I could kinda see that. 👍
Skelegod is the only Masterverse figure I’ve picked up so far because of the simple fact that no other version of that “powered-up” Skeletor really exists out there (with the exception of God Skeletor from Classics). Plus he towers over the Origins figures, which to me was the appeal when thinking about the scenarios that my son and I could come up once he’s old enough. I had contemplated picking up Savage He-Man for the same reason, but the fact that this figure is not representative of what he’s supposed to be in context of the series is a deal-breaker for me. That side-by-side comparison next to Skelegod at the end of the video proved that point even more so. I watch Kyle Peterson’s MotU figure reviews as well, and I think he hypothesized something to the effect that the toy designers and the animators might not have been on the same page when it came to making the figure look like he did in the series. I would tend to agree.
You also didn’t mention that apparently Savage He-Man comes with the Power Sword as one of his accessories and that he has no closed fist to punch with, which also makes absolutely no sense in the context of the series. The whole reason for him becoming “savage” is because he *didn’t* have the sword. So why in the world would they include the sword as an accessory?! I mean, it’s a decent-looking figure, but in terms of representing the way he appeared in the series… complete fail.
From a business perspective, I'm pretty sure it's because they couldn't justify selling a small(ish) figure like Orko on it's own for the full price, but still have to pay for tooling, so they put him in a 2-pack with a re-color of an existing figure. Hasbro does that all the time with Yoda.
Overall great review! I didn't think Orko would come with Savage He-Man. I was hoping for a Prince Adam and Orko 2 pack.
Kevin Smith's Prince Adam is too scrawny for that, he would've ALSO needed a fully custom tool, and that's not in the budget. If the line does well, expect him at some point down the line paired with a repaint.
I know I maybe late to the game but if you want a custom Prince Adam You could purchase two He-Men & two Spikor's
then simply swap He-Man's head & hands on Spikor's body & remove the spikey armour.
I absolutely loved orko in this show and I can't wait for my figures to arrive
I'm guessing not using the bigger buck was due to budget constraints. All that money for an Orko tool, and they can't exactly use it for anything other than Orko.
Loose joints seems to be a common complaint for the whole line though...
the only reason why I'll get this one is because of Orko, the figure isn't hulky enough like he should be
Hey Dan, only the upper arms and thighs are re-use. The rest are all new parts. There is more new tooling than many people noticed.
Just picked up mine, looking forward to the gandalf type orko from pt 2 of the show
The torso is a bit larger than heman
Can't find any of these figures in my country other than wave 1. But if I get this pack at some point, this head and battle axe will be totally transferred to regular He-Man.
I would have loved to see a more hulked out version of this He Man to suit the animation show, it would have been more appropriated but even though it's a nice Oo lar / Savage He-man and a fun Orko that suits the Netflix animation show. Great review.
Prince Adam is a must
The real question is does Orko's head fit on *Skeletor's* body? Do that, give it He-Man's chest armor, the sword, bam. Orko with The Power. If this had been out during the black friday discounts, I would have 100% grabbed a Skeletor body to dedicate to this, lol.
I want Orko alone. The Savage He-Man didnt look savage to me.
He should have used the skelegod buck parts and flocked body hair.
This He-man screams Tarzan custom .
This is a 7 inch substitute for a Marvel Legends Kazar which is unaffordable at this point. Quick repaint on an Origins Battle Cat for a Zabu.
I wonder if you could turn this guy into king gray skull with some parts swapping 🤔
I have a suggestion on how you can make Orko floats without his little stand I would get some fishing line and tie it to like maybe his arms or maybe his hat or something and then take the other end to like the top of your shelf or something I would put it like on a second shelf or something so that you can take the other end of the fishing line to the bottom of the shelf above to kind of give the illusion that he's floating and I say tape it so that way you can take him down if you want to if you want to move into somewhere else on a shelf or something like that I wouldn't suggest stapling I would also suggest time loops and just slipping his hands or whatever in so that way he doesn't permanently have clear string hanging off of him when you don't want to make him float this is just a suggestion idea I had to give him the illusion of floating without the stand
The upper body is a new sculpt and honestly it looks better than the standard motu body take a closer look at the savage heman body it’s the not the same as the normal heman release
This figure served only one purpose for me ,to use as a Ka- zar figure and the Masterverse battle cat I customized into Zabu .The Orko figure joined the rest of my Masterverse display .
They should have totally used the Skelegod body... he should be Hulk sized
Skelegod looking bigger is just an Optical illusion. Torso's the same size it just the shoulder pads, hip skirt and fake neck giving it the illusion of mass. It's like how Football players look bigger in pads.
I agree I guess they probably wanted a special body
Considering we’re getting a Pre-Timeskip Teela in the new Wave, we could probably get a Pre-Timeskip and Archmage Orko (not exactly sure what to call that version of the Trollan)
I actually use him as a Za-Zar replacement in my marvel legends display because the actual Ka-Zar is too expensive
Didn’t I tell you in your review with Masters of The Universe Classics Oo-Larr that if Disney did a 6 inch figure line similar to Masters of The Universe Classics that Oo-Larr’s parts would be reused for a Tarzan figure.
Hopefully orko comes out as a single figure.
I'm hot and cold on this Orko. l think it's the eyes. But if you pitch the head downward, it seems to look better. Savage He-Man is all right. He continues the problem of the giant diaper-looking loincloth making the proportions look weird. Still I want to try some part swaps; put the regular He-Man's boots, loin cloth, and armor on this fella and see how it looks.
I love this two pack
I love this figure set!
Finally something that looks good
Hopefully they'll release a more classic design Orko how he looked at the start of Revelation. I'd like an Orko but not all that keen on this design and have no interest in savage He-man.
If He Man's body was bigger it honestly would be such an amazing figure, I mean he already is, but it's just not on scale. All in all, spectacular set!
What I came to realize about the savage He-Man figure, it's not the long hair that always makes him look down, it's because of the way they made the neck. The neck is really slanted forward for some reason.
It's both. I cut slits up the sides of the hair, then heated it up and reformed the back of the hair upwards.
He still doesn't look up, but at least he's not only looking down at his feet now. Lol
I think it was to give him a neanderthal like appearance. Beast Man has the same neck.
Great Figure!!
I’m buying him just to be a placeholder for marvels kazar….all you really need is the sabretooth tiger zabu
Great review Dan! Yeah the Skelegod body probably would have worked better. Is it just me or is the Savage He-Man using a different upper torso? It looks a little wider/thicker than the regular He-Man.
This is a great review
This was the best He man of the series. The previous ones torso was too long and looked awkward. Now savage 😆 🤣 😂 woooo that's a stretch more like romantic novel heman!!! Storm Collectables would do a TRUE SAVAGE HEMAN!!! I just got their ZANGIEF and he's perfect and Hugh. ✌️
Savage He-Man was supposed to be built like The incredible hulk.
Upper torso looks different bigger last and neck muscles maybe
?
im very disappointed with the head always looking down though i do like the head sculpt much better than the one that came with the regular he-man.
Missed the Power Sword, Dan. Slacking dude.
I like the idea of the set, but Savage He-Man looks like he'd fit with another line more than Revelations. He's not screen accurately scaled compared to the show.
Just picked up my copy(50% off at Target) to do a head swap and noticed the eyes are very slanted which makes it look very odd. Thought it was just my copy, but seeing your review, it’s the same.
I picked this up in the UK along with the classic He-Man on clearance. It's really annoying that due to the stupid elongated loincloth neither figure will sit on the revelations Battle Cat. Instead they just float above the saddle and it looks stupid. I had to end up sitting Battle armour Origins He-Man on him and there is an obvious size issue.
The Savage He-Man looks cool at first but also looks like he could be any generic Barbarian character. The wash is nice and adds detail but I don't know why they gave him the Power Sword again given that the whole thing is that he doesn't use the power sword.
The Orko is nice and was the reason I bought the pack ultimately.
I'm not very familiar with the series I only watched the first 2 episodes and lost interest. I just love that we have a jungle version of He-man from his first appearance in the mini comics, stone spear and all!! Plus a bonus Orko.
Hi pixel dan love your Channel about the savage heman the body buck is not the same if buck is little bigger you will notice the difference if try put the Hornets it won't fit on savage heman
Can you switch the head to the netflix he man figure?
Well if anything Savage He-man might be a more affordable oo-larr figure then the classics version.
I may get him to make a King Grayskull.
I watched a video and the creator proved that savage he man in the cartoon is the same size as standard he man and smaller than skelegod making the figure accurate to the show. He did this with still shots of the characters side by side.
Do you have a link to that video? Sounds interesting.
They could have gave Orko the Mega Construx ball joints for his arms and wrist
I want an Orko bit I don't want Savage He-man (cos he's too small and standard looking, I'd rather wait and get teh upcoming barbarian concept version with my pennies). Guess I have to hold off for white Orko or Roborko from teh new show (love that design)
If only these line is readily available in my country at SRP....
Sick video
I know some ML peeps were talking about using Savage as a Ka-Zar, but he’s too tall to fit in, properly, even hunched over.
I was thinking Thundarr, myself, or Tarzan, as some others note here, maybe Blackstar? but there were already some Conan customs using these bucks, too.
As for Orko, does the blue Faker head fit on his body? Fak-o! 😂
You didn’t show the Adam head on the Orko body, so I’m left wondering.
Mattel missed the oppurtunity to make Savage a nice BAF...
Cool sculpt, well done Masterverse figure - but essentially a Disney interpretation of the "He-Man & The Power Sword" mini comic. ...It is not show accurate (surely bothers some while others appreciate that) in either the bodily proportions or the choice of facial expression. Well at least not the initial show appearance; in a Revelation context it could easily be what further mastery of The Power may have looked like - beyond the conduit yet in control. Obviously not what this was, & wasn't the direction they elected to go in the series either. But frankly, the whole "savage" He-Man thing was always odd phrasing to me anyway. I like the design & am definitely cool with iterations with that look rather than Prince Adam, but there was just never any savagery going on in the comic that appearance is taken from. Don't really get why it stuck. He was a brave & strong warrior going off to stop an evil force. Maybe "savage" was intended to be used loosely like "barbarian" often is, but I'd wager that characterization is what lead to that bizarre portrayal in the Revelation cartoon.
It would be more funnier to put Orko's on Man At Arms body and Man At Arms head on Orko's body that he mess up in one of his spells
These figures just don't do it for me. They are a step down from classics. I'm watching these reviews just to support PD.
Orko looks like he’s strung out on bath salts
I don’t understand why the figures in the Revelation line have such a bad posture … ???
The neck for someone with a normal posture should be straight up on top of the spin. Not 45 degrees … 🤦🏼♂️
Same problem with the Mega Construx MOTU.
The figures that have this type of neck are portrayed as savages: Beast Man, this He-Man etc. This is done to make them seem neanderthal and brutish. The standard characters don't have this type of neck. It's a deliberate design choice for the savage characters.
The should've reused parts of that big Skeletor body
I don't know why, but to me, this He Man looks to much of a Disney Tarzan figure.
Its kind of a delux Happy Meal toy. But that just based on the clip, as I have not seen one up close in person.
My orkos also came loose.
You forgot to mention the sword
hola el video está Genial muy bueno:
🤜🤛👍👏👊
I gave my orkos the sword
Incredible Hulk He-Man?.
Im so disappointed that in the Netflix series he was huge and this figure is small.
Its tarzan
Are you ever planning to do the Masterverse New Eternia line?
You are so awsome man. When will you do avideo with your son again
I don’t like what they did with Orko at all! He looks very old, tired and withered. I also don’t like how he resembles more of a villain than a fun hero sidekick.
In fairness these characters are supposed to be older and more battle weary than they were in the original cartoon. Many of the other characters have scars or switched up appearances to reflect this.
Haha. That head swap part was hilarious. Savage He-Man's face sculpt looks better than regular He-Man's.
.....pass. they should have made him bigger. If this goes on clearance for under $15, I'll get it for Orko and throw the He-Man into my little nephew's toy bin.
Click,click the video.... click, click
he looks like ka-zar from marvel comics...he too small
The MASTERVERSE HE-MANs are the worst HE-MAN-figures in my opinion, but MASTERVERSE has some cool other Charakters.
Seems like they got a little lazy with this design. It looks like the regular He-Man without clothes and metal hair...
I want this only because ORKO is in it. Dont need HULK-HE-MAN. 👎
Tarzán
First time I actually liked savage He-Man the way they showed him in revelation.
It looks like Orko is peeing
