The spin and win at Bristol in 1988 is incredibly underrated. Gets tapped by Geoff Bodine inside of 10 laps to go to get the caution, gets tires, comes out 3rd (of 3 cars on the lead lap) and bumps Bodine out of the way to victory lane!
The fastest car in NASCAR history, it pushed itself to be almost the same speed as a Indy Car, that's insane if you think about how little there was in safety equipment.
This guy made me watch NASCAR...watched 79 daytona thought it was great fun..Buddy Baker's record 80 daytona speed record..then 1985..Everything that year he did emmbarassed the competition..he made it look easy..destroyed them at Daytona till there was only 2 cars on the lead lap at the finish..thats getting it done!
I think its crazy how much sustained hype he had towards the end of his season and how GOOD he was during that time, too. A lot of racers from his generation (Ken Schrader, Sterling Marlin) kept racing into the 21st century but really just fell off of the map, never made top 20's, sometimers didn't even qualify, and you just stopped hearing about them. Bill Elliott was just consistent. He raced, and raced it hard all the way up until he retired.
#4 has something very cool in it: Matt Kenseth's first career Cup start came at Dover in 1998 subbing for Bill Elliott when Bill attended his father's funeral. At the same Rockingham race in 2003, not only does Bill Elliott ultimately win his final race, but Matt Kenseth clinches his first (and only) championship. Sometimes NASCAR does truly come full circle.
Passing the field 3 times to win a Dega will never be seen again. NASCAR has made it that way. No team these days can get that type of advantage before "NICECAR" steps in for a rule change. NASCAR is lobbied by the auto makers with money and if NASCAR had its way each finish would be photo with all brands. I can't watch this $h1t anymore and I'm not the only one, look at the empty seats, weekly on TV

Winston Million might be the biggest moment in Auto Racing history - it was HUGE. The Championship, the 2 Daytona 500s and the Brickyard 400 make up the rest of the Top 5.
I had the privilege of being there. The '85 Southern 500 was an epic moment in NASCAR history, and the biggest moment in Bill's career (except for maybe winning the title in '88). Can't believe they left it out of his top 5.
After watching Bill win at Talladega , live , in May of 85 I used Melling engine parts every time I built an engine. If there good enough to will on a superspeedway there good enough to take me up the road. Bill is my hero, if old men are allowed to have hero's.
I started watching in '95, but already knew Bill's name well and he became a favourite of mine even though I never got to see him win until '01. Homestead '03 made me want to puke a little. Can you imagine if he had won that one? Damn. Oh well, an amazing career for sure, and I'm greatly looking forward to Chase in the 9 car!
They labelled this car as “the worlds fastest race car” I’m sorry but that’s false, the fastest race cars on this planet are, and always have been top fuel dragsters and funny cars.

Bill Elliott is such a class act
Yes
So unlike the rude and arrogant Earnfart .
In my book Bill was the top driver in NASCAR. Loved that Thunderbird.

Chase in victory lane when bill getting out of car during brickyard win
Never gonna be another like Awesome Bill from Dawsonville.
Bill Elliott is one of my top 3 and i never liked that dodge to me that ford thunderbird is still to me THE CAR.
The Ford is the best but that Dodge was still pretty badass. That Ford Thunderbird was where he was meant to be, though.

The GOAT of Nascar.

These all should've been from when he was driving that kickass Ford Thunderbird....

How about the 2 laps he made up under green at Talladega??
DAMN RIGHT!!
One of the GREATEST come back/NASCAR wins in ALL history!!!
Million Dollar Bill w/Ernie & Co. ... Priceless!!
NO ONE could touch him!

Bring back The WINSTON CUP!!!
At Talladega he went from being 2 laps down to "dominating" the race. Fuqn Awesome.

Bill was amazing when it come to winning in the biggest moments
The Coors Melling Thunderbird driven by Wild Bill will always be my favorite car and driver. Chase is making ground though..:)

Bill always had great looking cars, too.
Awesome Bill from Dawsonville.
Should have been top 9 moments
David hanks ya
Most underrated driver ever!!!
Spenser Hawk how's he underrated i think everyone knows he was great
"Underrated"
I started watching in '95, but already knew Bill's name well and he became a favourite of mine even though I never got to see him win until '01.

At was great memories 😊
Chase Elliott needs to be in a Ford like his Daddy was.
No way he sold his Soul To Rick Hendricks
No car ever ran like Wild Bill’s Ford at Talledega that afternoon 1987.
The number 9 Coors Thunderbird is a beautiful machine.
darlington full covered grandstand
FULL STANDS!
back when dodge was there*brings back memeorys*
Did you put "memeorys" intentionally or is that a hilarious coincidence
They had a CHAMPIONCHIP on a roadcourse that sounds lit
Most talented driver in NASCAR history (except MAYBE for the guys from open wheel racing)?
Haha, that's Chase at 1:26 isn't it
Slamjack01 yes
His face belongs on THE MILLION DOLLAR"BILL"!!!
I remember I had a toy of The red dodge from 2003. Now I know who’s car it was
I💓 The Gold wheels
Now Chase Elliott is in that number
Remember Chase is Bill Elliott, Jr. as he was given the name William Clyde Elliott II.
You should make the music even louder so we cannot hear a word Bill says.
chase is now on bill's number and got his first career win at watkins glen.
Chase wins first race on road course like his dad, in the #9 and his 99th cup start!
kasey did alot of good in the 9 too, just not as much as bill
So the #9 car wasn’t always a Hendrick owned car
Wanted a car
I would say that (if Indianapolis is still on the schedule which I hope it will not) Chase Elliot is going to win the 2022 Brickyard 400.
Weird.
1st
Nice work!
NASCAR can I be a driver
"Anything is possible" - Kevin Garnett
NASCAR start a youth series
Motorsports Fan 63 ye but a other one like go karts
that’s not even close to all his best! Much less his top 5.
Boo salad
They labelled this car as “the worlds fastest race car” I’m sorry but that’s false, the fastest race cars on this planet are, and always have been top fuel dragsters and funny cars.
Yea but qauter miles are for pussies that are afraid to take a turn
They are talking about real racing not that short step BS like drag racing!!!
