So elaborate! I am a vegetarian Gujju married to a Bengali basically from North Bengal. Food was always divergent at our home. I was a totally roti-puri-paratha sabzi eater & he was a rice-bland masoor dal-spicy fish curry in sarson gravy person. I would cook veg food, clean up & exit the kitchen. Then he would cook fish or chicken, clean up & eat his food along with my kids. I gradually started making & eating boiled egg curry. No omelettes or sunny side up for me. One thing that I was told at my in-laws place is that egg curry is the easiest, fastest dish to make. Wives in Kolkata homes make rice & a quick egg curry in the mornings for their kids & husband's tiffin. They would put eggs on one gas burner to boil and a kadhai with oil on another. Meanwhile, they would grate a couple of onions, add it to hot oil to which 5 phoron was added, tej patta too, cook it on high heat while simultaneously pounding together ginger, garlic, green chillies, black/green cardamom, cinnamon, cloves. Cinnamon and tej patta was sourced from the trees in the courtyard at my in-laws home. This was added to the onions, fried a little on full flame, finely chopped or grated tomatoes added, if available. Salt, turmeric and red chilly powder added. After a little stir fry, water was added, the kadhai covered, flame reduced to medium and meanwhile the boiled eggs were peeled, cut into halves and added to the gravy along with large pieces of boiled potatoes. Full flame. A quick stir & done. A spoonful of ghee was added at the end for taste. When I watched your video, I wondered what the 10-15 women in my husband's joint family would have to say about it? 😊🤔😂
