Apparently many years ago (100.000 before christ) there used to be a global greek civilisation with advanced technology (more advanced than todays) that was destroyed by a global civil war to the point that all humanity went back to stone age. Also the ancient greek gods existed in real life they were superhumans and used that technology

@@Eranshahr-Forever The western academic accepted version states that actually Serbs and Croats where distinct ethnic groups ever since the arrival of from the areas of Moravia. That means that Croats coming from White Croats settled into area that is basically todays Croatian borders and Serbs coming from White Serbs settled the aria of central Serbia. Except for the big cities that remained roman for a long time. There is almost no archeological evidence for any of it and genetics show a great mixing of the populations, there is only one written source for it but somehow any questioning of it is considered un scientific. I think the crazy theories come from the lack of evidence of what actually happened, and there is clearly politics involved in western versions because they tend to change the theory every time there are negotiations or border disputes.

For us on the Balkans it was outsiders ruining a lot of it. If not for A&H Serbia wouldve been happy with Bosnia and no issues bothering Albanians or taking land promised to Bulgaria. So no second Balkan war. The A&H and Ottomans wouldve been buried under the carpet by 1916. If only we had our own leaders. If we became a unified league by 1930s we wouldve been worth a mentioning and no1 would assume we easy picks.

Thats because socialists destroyed their heritage and reset their history and they are desperate to get it back. People think it doesn't matter but it does. People like to feel like they come from somewhere. And with the current Marxist hyper focusing on "indigenous" as the legitimate claimants to a particular region, its bexoming ever more important to stake that claim by proving you are "indigenous." That way you have defense against being uprooted by the influx of mass immigration. Whether that's good or not is irrelevant. It is this way and with constant and perpetual indoctrination it will continue to be this way. Theres much more to it than just "I am better than you because I am from a certain place." Marxists distill it down into "supremacy" or whatever so they can label it hate and use it as a cudgel. Fuck nazis. But fuck Marxists harder, and with a longer stick.

This also the reason for the pan African and pan Arab movements started, but somehow it isn’t problematic to westerners since much marginalization and white guilt.

Ok but the thing is, there's a region in Greece that's called Macedonia. We don't claim the country. Only bulgarian nationalists do that (with albanian nationalists claiming half of the country). A lot of people seem to confuse this. The name dispute was mainly caused due to how north macedonia used to call itself (it was called "FYROM", but the country called itself just Macedonia.) There can't be 2 Macedonia's. It is either a country or a greek region, which lots of historians seem to agree that Macedonia should only be a region and that North Macedonia should exclude the name Macedonia and rename itself with something else. So in other words, Greece has a region that's called Macedonia, and there's a country that used to call itself Macedonia. Greece didn't like that because that country was using the name of one of Greece's regions, so Greece blocked the country to join NATO and the EU until there was a solution to the problem. Take it as a copyright strike.

@@BalkanOdyssey_ The thing is nationalism was hot topic when we were appearing on the map again. We were obviously downsized from what our ethnic borders could be. Top early to have empireal ambitions yet. There was a need to expand as that's nature either expand or die so the fact that u got millions of brothers and sisters under the feet of the Ottoman empire or A&H was a strong motivator for war. You got to know something tho. As we all came late we couldnt be fully independent. Romania, Bulgaria and Greece all had outsiders as monarchs. The second Balkan war which ruined the future of Bulgaria was started by the German monarch which we had. In ww1 both Greece and Romania had more interest to be in Entente camp against Germany but their monarchs were German so valuable time was wasted. Not trying to blame everything on the outsiders but they definately pulled the strings into their direction. What happent was a bunch of wars which were for no interest of the Balkan nations. Only the first Balkan war is worthy to mention that we did it for ourselves. Ww1 we werent unified again. Ofocurse my country Bulgaria due to the dipshit monarch causing last war had to be against its neighbours. I really like to imagine what ww1 wouldve looked with the Balkan league remaining. A&H and the Ottomans wouldve been absolutely done by 1916 just by Bulgaria not being on their side. Without second Balkan war that couldve been achieved. But nvm. That's how we think. We like to imagine a different history alt history if you wish cause it is a sweet fantasy. It's funny tho. We the powder keg of Europe? Wow while we were still barely rebelling against the Ottomans Europe was practising war as a sport.

Far-right nationalists often say that the Finno-Ugric theory, the theory that Hungarians migrated to the Carpathian Basin from the Ural mountains at the end of the 9th century (which is the officially accepted origin theory of Hungarians, and is what is being taught in Hungarian schools) is just "Habsburg propaganda" that was fed to Hungarians while Hungary was under Habsburg rule to discourage us from taking pride in our origins, thus making us less likely to rise up.

The main difference between Albanian and Serbian pseudohistorians is this:
In Serbia, our academics, scientists, historians, archelogists, linguists etc. fight agains pseudoscience. We are aware how damaging that alternative history is to our culture and identity, but also reputation. Serbs have enough rich and fascinating history from early middle ages, all the way to modern times. We don't need fake stories about ancient "Serbian" civilizations, "Serbian" pyramides, and other nonsense.
But on the other side, there are a lot Albanian historians, which are in academical institutions btw, who promote pseudohistory. They don't stop only with Illyrians (which itself is not strong theory, and isn't supported with enough evidence), but they go so far to claim Pelasgians, Troyans etc. Of course, this is more of a political purpose, than scientifical.

Slavs came here from 5th-7th centuries and they assimilated one part of Illyrians, so technically we have "illyrian blood", which is not important for me, neither for bigger part of Serbs. However, Albanians are first mentioned in 11th century, and their language was mentioned first time in 13th century. We do not know their exact origins, where do they came from. Maybe in ethnogenesis of modern Albanians, more nations participated. Don't forget that many Slavs, Greeks and Vlachs were albanized because of Ottoman occupation. They surely aren't direct descendants of Illyrians, and it is funny to talk about Illyrian history as part of Albanian history...

The ancient Illyrians could have been more diverse and culturally distinct than even the modern Balkans, prior to Romanization. That means that for what little we do know about them, viewing them as a single homogenous ethnic group to descend from is the one thing that does not appear to be very Illyrian at all.

@@ermirdestani Probably not, but we don't know for certain. When the Greeks first mention Illyrians, the Slavic languages seem to only be a few centuries removed from sharing a common Balto-Slavic language with the Baltic languages and were probably spoken further North.
The real question is rather Slavic speaking peoples "replaced" the people there (i.e. expelled or killed), or a Slavic ruling class caused an incentive for the people there (who probably saw themselves more as Roman than Illyrian at that point) to relatively quickly assimilate into Slavic language and culture. My internet armchair best guess is that were was probably more a rapid assimilation than a genocide of expulsion.
For a parallel, it was once believed that Germanic Anglo-Saxons invaded and conquered all of England after arriving from Northern Germany/Southern Denmark, and either killed all the Celtic people or drove them to the Western corners Britain like Wales and Cornwall from the mid 400s A.D. onward. But it's now believed that Anglo-Saxons settlers and their direct descendants were never in large enough in number to "replace" Celtic Romano-Briton people, as it is believed that Anglo-Saxon settlers and their direct descendants were only about 10% of the population, but that that their presence as a ruling class resulted in a relatively quick assimilation (as in just a few generations) of Celtic people into Anglo Saxon language and culture. However, while I understand there's solid genetic, linguistic, and archaeological vidence for the 90/10 population split in England, I couldn't claim to know if Slavic people were in greater or lesser numbers than the people already there in the Balkans.

I thought that was the question you had asked, essentially.
Obviously, as you state, there was a migration of Slavic speaking tribes in the Balkans in the Byzantine period. The cultural upheaval of that period is the genesis of the South Slavic peoples as we know them. But, the mystery is what happened to the Illyro-Romans, and personally, I think they assimilated in a relatively peaceful manner by the standards of the day, compared to say, what Europeans did to Indigenous people in North America.

What we know from Greek history is that there are 2 schools of thought. One of them is that Illyrian were Greek people. The other one is that Illyria got hellenized so early on we have no proof if they ever spoke another language. What is certain is that culturaly historically and religiously they were as Greek as the proto city-states.
"Greeks are those who share in our education"
At any time in recorded history an illyrian would be considered Greek.
What were they before greeks settled there or hellenized? Who knows.
I remember from history talking about the "Agean people" or something similar there were some local communities all over Greece of uknown origin before the settlement of doric and ionic tribes. What happen to them? Probably assimilated. Some claim they were parts of greek tribes settled there before the main ones. And we probably have some words in Greek deriving from their local one or their dialect.
They used to say myceneans weren't Greek or some other tribe but they are now classified as Greek/Proto-Greek.
My hypothesis is that the same thing might happen with the aegean people and who knows, maybe the illyrians one day.

Since there are still people who're still spreading misinformation in regards to South Slavic genetics, let's make a few things as clear as possible.
      1. According to the 2013 autosomal IBD survey "of recent genealogical ancestry over the past 3,000 years at a continental scale", the speakers of the Serbo-Croatian language share a very high number of common ancestors dated to the migration period approximately 1,500 years ago with Poland and Romania-Bulgaria cluster among others in Eastern Europe. It is concluded to be caused by the Slavic expansion, which was a vast population that expanded over a large geographic area, and that the aforementioned expansion is "highly coincident with the modern distribution of Slavic languages".
      2. According to Kushniarevich et al. 2015, the Hellenthal et al. 2014 IBD analysis also found "multi-directional admixture events among East Europeans (both Slavic and non-Slavic), dated to around 1,000-1,600 YBP" which coincides with "the proposed time-frame for the Slavic expansion". The Slavic influence is "dated to 500-900 CE or a bit later with over 40-50% among Bulgarians, Romanians, and Hungarians". The 2015 IBD analysis found that the South Slavs have lower proximity to Greeks than East and West Slavs and that there's an "even patterns of IBD sharing among East-West Slavs-'inter-Slavic' populations (Hungarians, Romanians, and Gagauz)-and South Slavs, across an area of assumed historic movements of people including Slavs". The peak of shared IBD segments between South and East-West Slavs suggests a shared "Early Slavic ancestry".
      3. According to a recent admixture analysis of Western Balkan, the South Slavs show a genetic uniformity. The modeled ancestral genetic component of Balto-Slavs among South Slavs was between 55-70%. The 2006 Y-DNA study results "suggest that the Slavic expansion started from the territory of present-day Ukraine, thus supporting the hypothesis that places the earliest known homeland of Slavs in the basin of the middle Dnieper".
      4. According to most Y-DNA studies, the distribution, variance, and frequency of the Y-DNA haplogroups R1a and I2 and their subclades R-M558, R-M458, and I-CTS10228 among South Slavs are in correlation with the spreading of Slavic languages during the medieval Slavic expansion from Eastern Europe, most probably from the territory of present-day Ukraine and Southeastern Poland.
In other words, South Slavs are still primarily Slavic in terms of genetics, specifically, Y-DNA and aDNA, stop LARPing as the people your Slavic forefathers have subjugated.

🇷🇴 I honestly agree a lot with most of what you say... As a Romanian I can see a lot of "victim" mentality through our population. As much as our history is a lot more based on facts there still is this problem about "autohtony". When our national "creation story" was coined there were 2 main theories, both extreme. The first was the vision of Austro-Hungarian elites who saw romanians as migrators into lands that were hungarian and German before. And the second, a counter response is that the romanisation of the province of dacia had a continuity untill the present, therefore Romanians have always, since the end of the ethnogenesis been on the same north danubian lands. This second theory is the one taught in schools and defended fiercely, as it is not necessarily derogatory to other peoples and is based on evidence. But I feel like it is not necessarily complete. New scholars that have abandoned all national "scopes" believe that such a big Romanian population couldn't exist without the addition of Latin speaking migrants from the balkans whose lands were occupied by the migration of the slavs. So there were Latin speakers north of the Danube, but they were also completed by others who came from the South. But this theory that combines both original theories in a way that is based on facts and logical narratives is not accepted because of the fact that it could still support that Transilvania is somehow "definetly hungarian". In Romania we are either all from here or came from who knows where :) no in between.
There are also a lot of people that subscribe to this second theory, but they also see Romans as not the true ancestors. In there vision we are not Latin. Even tho we speak a version of Latin, have Latin traditions and collectively have always called ourselves Romans "citisens of Rome". No, for them we are Dacians, superior in comparison to all other nations. Some claim Roman culture was based on the Dacian one)))) that Dacians built Rome... This was mostly a theory that was highly praised in comunist times when our leader wanted to distance ourselves from the "imperialist brother nations of the west" as he called them :) If only they knew how many other people claim the same Dacian origin.... So yeah, România is really not much different from all the examples in your video.

We Slovenes also had to give an attempt at pseudoscience when it comes to genetics.
-The Germanic theory is a very prevelent one today especially in the region of Styria (Štajerska/Штајерска), similar to the gothic theory it states that Slovenes have German or at least Germanic roots, this theory is on the surface more believable than the croatian one as there are many words that we use that are derived from german and then slavified (Fraj/Frei - Free; Cilj/Ziel - Goal; Žleht/Schlect - Evil....and many many more examples), and of course the meme of Slovenia, we say ja instead of da/да which is used in every slavic language except in Slovenia. I believe some Polish cities in Pomeriania and Schlesia use ja instead of da but most poles use da, while most Slovenes don't.
-The Venetian theory, this one is a lot more wacky, it states that Slovenes are the direct descendents of the ancient Venetians, the people that sailed the entire mediteranian sea, established themselves in Istra, many greek island, Crimea and some coastal regions in Turkey and the levant. I honestly don't know how this one is justified, it's pretty common knowledge that Italy stole a lot of historically and ethnically Slovene land from us, the land collectiveley known as Furlanija or Fiume in Italian, maybe the venetian theory is just going over the board to pay back to those Italians idk XD
    Great video, love from Slovenija!
CORRECTIONS: It would appear that many more slavs use words other than "da" for saying "yes". Poles, Czechs, Slovaks and Ukrainians seem to either use "ja" or "tak" for saying "yes".

Also that would explain the lingual transition from west slavic into Slovene into kajkavian (which is mostly serbo-croatian but has similarites to Slovene, most glaring example is saying "Kaj" instead of Šta/Шта, and then to Štokavian and Čakavian. Depends on how you look at the matter, either you believe Slovenes to be Germanised south slavs or you see southern Germans, Austrians as being mostly slavs that started speaking German, I've heard both of these explanations. Okay, let me present you the Albanian perspective on this:
    1. It is incredibly hard to prove Illyrian ancestry through language, as the Illyrian language doesn't seem to be attested.
    2. In terms of linguistics, the only way to relate Albanian with Illyrian is by connecting dots (e.g. Greek loanwords that must have entered what today is Albanian in antiquity, the Latinization of the Albanian vocabulary [60 - 70% of the daily Albanian vocabulary is of Latin origin, and keep in mind that it's the Latin that was spoken by the Romans during their conquest of Illyria], which subsequently must have replaced a big amount of Greek loans) or by process of elimination (Dacian theory unlikely due to Albanians not speaking a Romance language, even though the Dacians were fully Latinized by the times of the supposed migration of Albanians southwards).
    3. This approach doesn't hold up to scientific standards and therefore, unless a miracle happens and some kind of extensive inscription is found, the Illyrian origins of Albanians will never be proven (or disproven) beyond a reasonable doubt vià linguistics.
    4. As shown before, the Illyrian theory "makes a lot of sense", but other factors raise doubts: the lack of indigenous words relating to the maritime lifestyle of the Illyrians (though others would say that not all Illyrians, especially the ones that didn't live along the coast, practiced piracy and that would explain the absence of such words, considering that the Illyrians most likely didn't see themselves as "one people", therefore, differences between Illyrians from the coasts, from the inland, from the north and from the south must have existed).
So what is left? Genetics/genealogy. This is our only window in to the past, the only way to prove autochthony on the very lands Albanians inhabit, disproving every theory Albanians faced by their neighbors, especially by Serbia and their intellectual elite (for example the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, SANU for short), that were used to deny the rights of Albanians to exist on certain parts of the Balkans or to even have a country of their own, by declaring them to be some kind of invader that were brought to the Balkans by the Turks, having the audacity to "occupy" Serbian soil.
Many Albanians use this as some kind of weapon to declare themselves superior to their (Slavic) neighbors, but that is not how it's supposed to be, as we shouldn't strive to become what we've suffered under. It's merely a defense mechanism, helping Albanians to disarm any anti-Albanian rhetoric in regards to their right to simply live in their lands. Genes don't lie. The Y-DNA and autosomal DNA of Albanian corresponds with Illyrian samples found in different burial sites in BiH and Croatia. Their DNA corresponds with that of Greeks and by extent, Ancient Greeks.
And again: This cannot and should not be used as an argument for the superiority of Albanians. This doesn't justify any claims. It's just a beautiful peek into the past. Being "proud" of your ancestry is okay, but don't use it in order to dehumanize your neighbors, as in the end of the day, me being of Illyrian ancestry doesn't get me any privileges, doesn't put food on my table and doesn't put money into my pocket. I'd rather we Albanians - actually all of the Balkans - would compete for economic, societal and intellectual "superiority". We are all plagued by corruption, economic instability and mass emigration of educated young people (an absolute brain drain)... so how's anyone superior, really? Two Balkanites arguing about who's superior is like two homeless people arguing about who's got the better cardboard box to sleep in, while standing in front of a villa.

Romania, Bulgaria and Greece all had German or Astro German monarchs. Romania was to act against its interests of A&H held Transylvania, Bulgaria in second Balkan war attacked cause the German monarch wanted so and Greece wasted ww1 opportunity due to internal crap involved with the king. You see if we were a unified league and no second Balkan war and Bulgaria on entente side the central powers wouldve been buried under the carpet by 1916. That is all due to the fact that in real history the A&H and Ottomans both got lucky Bulgaria joined their side. Otherwise joining Entente couldve ment quickly amassing a 1m force of entente troops in front of the Ottoman capital. It be surrounded and dealt with within 3 months as the entente forces got far superior navy too. Rest of Ottoman territory can be collected later as it wont posses the ability to do shit within 6 months of ww1. A&H not only wont be able to conquer Serbia but the hundreds of thousands of French and British troops be reaching the frontline and will be supported by another force of hundreds of thousands Bulgarian soldiers and they ms hold it. But what happens when the troops from the Ottoman theatre of war turn north? Be getting smashed into peaces. Wow Romania wont be getting conquered in this alt history either. Imagine how the Balkan league may look by 1935. The third Reich wont be doing whatever they like with Yugoslavia and Greece. Italy wont bother to even step in. Too talentless in war

LOL, do you think Scots, English and Irish get along without problems? Do you think the Scandinavian's don't fight each other? How about Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Poland? Belgium, Spain and even Italy have separatist movements because they see themselves as separate groups crammed into the same borders. EVERYONE is tribal, so it has always been and so it will always be. The only thing that forces people to ignore differences is a common enemy that threatens them from outside, the moment that enemy disappears, peoples splinter as we have seen from the USA since the collapse of the USSR. Suddenly there are Irish-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Somali--Americans, German-Americans etc and so on it splinters until the whole country finally balkanizes.

Good analysis and video. But in the case of Montenegro, those people were considered Serbs for most of Serbian history since settling in the Balkan peninsula. And now many consider themselves both Serbs and Montenegrins. Another big chunk considers itself serbs. A very small minority (around 10% from what I have gathered) thinks that they're Montenegrins and that is separate from being a serb. The same way a Serb from Shumadia considers oneself both Serb and Shumadian, or a Serb from Bosnia both Bosnia and Serb. Those are simply regions on the peninsula.
Or compared to ancient Greece, there were Athenians, Spartans, Corinthians etc., but they were all Greeks. Or the way ethnically Austrians are actually Germans. This modern creation of new nations (I say nations, not new states as the case Austria/Germany clearly shows that one nation can have two states) makes no sense, because if we go by the logic of borders defining and making new nations, then all of Germany should be divided in hundreds of small nations (just look at the map of the Holy Roman Empire). But no one today is calming that Bavarians are not Germans and are a separate nation, or that Cyprians are not Greeks.

    About the Albanian origin
I never thought about it and i never care up untill I started hearing Serbs nationalists calling me an immigrant form caucasia
This got me curious and i have been trying to understand the real origin of Albanian
One of the main ways to study populations is by studying their languages, this is how we understood that Slavic, German, Latin, Iranian are all Indo-European languages and they all have the same origin in current day causaia
Studies on the Albanian language point to the fact that Albanian is a proto-balcanic language
It Albanian developed form Illyrian, Dancian, Thracian or another language spoken in the region that we have no recordings of
Studying loanwords is a great way to understand how languages, people and tribes interacted with each other
The "Handbook of Comparative and Historical Indo-European Linguistics" says:
"It is a characteristic feature of the Albanian language to be open to loan-words from various sources. The oldest stratum is found in Ancient Greek loans, which result from contacts between Greeks and speakers of Proto-Albanian from about 600 BCE onward. Subsequent to the Roman occupation of the Balkans, Proto-Albanian was heavily influ- enced by Latin."
This shows that Albanian developed from in the region
Whether it developed form Illyrian, Thracian, Dancian or another undocumented language is very hard to tell since those languages didn't have written records
There are some people that use the similarities between Messapic and Albanian to say Albanian is 100% an Illyrian language
This is hard to tell, we don't have other Illyrian languages to compare Messapica to and we currently don't know that much Messapic itself, we don't even know for sure if it was an Illyrian tribe or not since
There are also the Dardania or the Albanoi and Albanopolis mentioned by Ptolemy but it is hard to tell whether those are real connections or mere coincidence
    What is the Albanian origin?
    I don't know for sure
I can only tell you that Albanian is a proto-balcanic language
Descendent form Illyrian, Thracian, Dancian or another undocumented tribe
Albanians are autochthonous to the region and the theories about Albanian migration are all false
Being autochthonous don't give claims to lands tho
We don't know where Albanians lived 2600 years ago or even 2000 years ago
The Albanians were first mentioned in 1100 by Byzantine empire because they formed the Principality of Arbor
This is the first time we see a clearly see where Albanians lived
The fact that Albanians lived in this principality doesn't mean that there weren't Albanians outside of it
So yeah it is hard to tell
I don't like to use the Albanian autoctonicity argument to clam land "Saying it is rightfully ours"
That is just another type of historical claim and i my option it doesn't really work well
People currently living in a place should have the right to decide what they want
If Albanian form Kosovo want to unite with Albanian
    Fine
It Serbs form Kosovo want to unite with Serbia
Fine at the end of the day we fought a war too because we didn't want to say with the and we should not force others too

I can empathise with how my illiterate peasant family would cling to these silly ideas, given that their education was denied them by protracted and brutal wars. On reflection I think it served a wide range of psychological purposes for them under the victim status umbrella. It aligned them with what they perceived as more tolerant and 'mystical' Shia and against the Sunni Ottoman occupiers, disavowed the Gothic theory promoted by the Ustase, the Slavic theory weaponised by Italy under Mussolini (my family is from Dalmatia), and a sentimentalised identification with Shah Pahlavi's Iran, since they had recently escaped a communist autocracy themselves. So much mental gymnastics is a result of generational trauma :(

Man, the Bulgarian one is just... First of all the Thracian theory is really old and in modern times it had been dismissed completely. But the genetic studies show that there is a large Eastern Mediterranean genetic footprint in Bulgarians. It's logical that when slavs arrived they assimilated the local peoples. In Bulgarian history is well known that in the begging of the Bulgarian kingdom different peoples were not intermixing and it took great effort to do that. First unified rule of law under Krum, one single religion under Boris I(christianity) and eventually the cultural reform that made Old Bulgarian(also known as Old Church Slavic) the official language of the state and church. The whole process lasted 3 centuries and and we all know that this is the time when the modern Bulgarian nation was created 7th-10th century. The Macedonian question has nothing to do with the thracians... It was about the unifications of the Bulgarian nation, look at it even linguistically Macedonian and Bulgarian languages have significant differences from the other Slavic ones. The capital of the Bulgarian tsardom was in Macedonia for a century, most people there in the 19th century were seeing themselves as Bulgarian e.t.c

    • @drarsen33
      @drarsen33 2 года назад +5

And from Serbian perspective you can make also strong argument for relation with modern Macedonians. Center of power of several principalities was in Macedonia, capitol of Serbian Empire also was in Macedonia, language is related to archaic form of Serbian (and even today many Macedonians say that it is easier for them to understand Serbian than Bulgarian).
Macedonians have custom of Slava which is not found among Bulgarians but is wide spread in Serbia and it is passed from generation to generation patrilineally etc.
Truth is probably in between as situation is murky where ever ethic lines meet especially if those lines go back to medieval times when ideas of nationhood were bit different.
In the end all Serb and Bulgarian arguments fall mute as Macedonians see them selves as separate ethnicity and that is what is important in the end.

Four nations have similar genetics (Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks and Macedonians - a mixture of Haplogroups I2 (35-50%), R1a (15-20%), R1b (5-10%), E (10-15%) and they are related to Bulgarians, Romanians and Hungarians. Albanians have different genetics, they are dominated by haplogroup E (35-50%), R1b (20%) , J (10-20%) and I2 (5-15%).
Haplogroup I2 is originally European and is 35000 years old, Haplogroup E is originally African and the oldest found human with this haplogroup was found in Spain and dates back to 5000 BC. The oldest sample of haplogroup E found near the Balkans was found in Moldova and dates back to 2000 BC. Before the Romans, there is no E haplogroup in the Balkans, and the samples found during Roman rule are of African origin, probably soldiers or slaves.

But if you are trying to Educate people you might want to chill with the "Bourgeoise Elite" and similar idioms , it gives the content an unnecessary political note, and can easily serve as a way for people to discredit and criticize the very valid and very accurate information portrayed in a lot of your videos.

Serbs being Illyrians is a joke that never gets old 🤣
What is the connection? I don't really see any despite trying hard to find evidences.
Why can't serbs admit that albos are much more ancient in Balkans than them and highly likely to be illyrians? There's nothing wrong with that. For example turks know that they conquered their current lands and not only they don't deny that but they are actually proud.
The thraco-illyrian theory for albanians can be backed up by similarity in words (not to be found in slavic languages) also in mythology and traditions that survive even up to this day.
Slavic people came from beyound Carpathian mountains according to ancient historians.
Albanians come from some Thraco-Illyrian tribes.
    Everyone is happy.

You can't be ethnically muslim. Unlike being ethnically jewish (bc being jewish is both an ethnicity and religion) islam is only a religion. Islam just means you believe in an imaginary sky daddy named Allah and that's it. There's no gene that could tell you whether you're a muslim or not. Bosnians who self-identify as muslims are literally just actively participating in their own oppression. They've been fed a lie that they "must" have some turkish DNA (hint: they don't) by nationalistic serbs whose whole goal was to *other* them from their own slavic roots. Bosnians are genetically slavic, speak a slavic language (which I might add, their dialect resembles Ukrainian and Russian, aka protoslavic, way more than the serbian or croatian or montenegrin dialect), and their tradition is also slavic.
And this is supported by science. There's a reason why every time a bosnian does a DNA test, it always tells them their roots are from other slavic countries, and never any middle eastern countries.

Some of these, especially those mentioned in the Serbian and Albanian sections of this video, have reminded me of my maternal uncle.
In the last few years, he really fell into a conspiratorial rabbithole.
Some examples of his believes that I have fished out of some posts I made in a Discord server's vent chat:
    - He believes that symbols like the swastika and what Serbs call "the 4 Ss" originated in Lepenski Vir.
    - That the whole Slav and Indo-European naming conventions were invented by Germans in the XVI century Vienna school to make themselves look superior, ancient and rightful people of the land. Or something along those lines.
    - That at least half of modern-day Albanians, the Shqiptari (named after how the Albanians call themselves), being a collection of 19 Caucasian, Middle Eastern, African and Indian tribes settled by the Habsburgs in the region in the 18th-19th centuries, largely replacing the Arbanashes (named after how the Albanians were called by neighboring nations in medieval times), whom he sees as Illyrian/Slavic Serbs.
    - He has a generally anti-western and specifically anti-Germanic stance too.
    - That the Illyrians, Triballians, Thracians and Dacians were one people and that the only difference between them and South Slavs is that the former fell to Rome and the letter didn't.
    - That Proto-Indo-Europeans called themselves Serbs, and that they originated in the central Balkans, with some of them migrating east towards India, and then some of those returning to Balkans and Europe a few millennia later, the latter being the "actual event" of what mainstream history sees and Indo-European migrations.
    - He also sometimes makes homophobic comments, including him believing homosexuality to be a relatively recent, Western invention. (For obvious reasons, he remains one of the few relatives I'm yet to come out as pan to, and the only one I have no intention of coming out to any time soon).
    - He also doesn't believe that humans are related to apes, as he sees this, as well as evolution as a whole, as an invention by the elite to control the masses more easily. Like, "if we aren't any more important than monkeys, than why bother asserting your personal freedoms?" seems to be his arguement.
    - Oh, and did I mention that he's a flat-earther?
    - He also believes that there is an old Serbian calendar which has some now lost/unknown, but important event in the latter half of the 6th millennium BCE as year 0.
    - He also sees the Iron Gates/Lepenski Vir culture as much larger than it actually was and sees it as peaceful, welcoming, hospitality culture (the former obviously wrong, but the latter might've been true for all we know) and says that the Serbs inherited such a culture, but that the Albanians, who claim to be the last remaining population of pre-Roman Balkaners, don't have such a culture.
Whatever this conspiratorial rabbithole is, it took my uncle away from me and much of the extended family. And we want him back. But it doesn't seem we'll see him out of that rabbithole anytime soon.

Ironically this video didn’t talk about any genetics… the entire Balkans are more or less a mix indigenous paleo-Balkan people and Slavs (with minor elements of Germanic, Celtic, west Asian dna).
Some of these concepts are just misunderstood, not really “wild theories” for example the Iranian theory.
It’s not that Croats descend from Iranians or Scythians, it’s that a Scythian tribe may have come to dominate a larger group of Slavs who eventually came to also call themselves by the Iranic tribal name. It’s not confirmed by any means but it’s possible.
Foreign military classes existed among many unrelated ethnic groups which they gave their names to: Russ, Bulgars, Normans, among them - Serbs and Croats may be the same.
As for Albanians considering their heavy paleo Balkan input they probably are mostly descended from Illyrians or whatever tribes existed in or near Albania. North Macedonia are more paleo-Balkan than they are Slavic (60/40 if I recall correctly). And it’s very likely their ancestors mixed a lot with ancient Macedonians, while not being their direct descendants.
Likewise the Bulgars, Serbs and others have clear Mediterranean input from the Thraco-Illyrian natives. (Typically around 50%).

Comments from a random Greek who just happened to watch part of this video:
    1. Not again this ridiculous story about the Illyrians. The Illyrians were some dumb barbaric pirates, always ruled by the Greeks and the Romans. Why would anyone wanting to be their descendant? Their most noteworthy deed was when they had an uprising against Rome and were all massacred.
    2. I will not pretend to be an expert on Slavic history but why are all these countries trying so hard to connect to some of the ancient civilizations that lived in the Balkans.
    3. Nobody will earn extra lands if they claim to have ancestors who used to own these areas. If that was the case, then Greece and Italy would pretty much own all of the Mediterranean.
    4. Sometimes we must think before we blindly adopt some ridiculous theories. The theory that the Illyrians were Alania's ancestors or that Alexander the Great was a Slav and is somehow related to the modern day country of North Macedonia are just as absurd as the story of that Serb guy who was the father of all people.
    5. History is the one and only judge of our ancestry. For example have we ever found anything written in Albanian that dates before the 11th century? If we haven't then our best guess if that the Albanians somehow arrived in the 11th century. The same goes for everyone. Are there any Greek/Roman sources that mention anything about the Slavs before the Byzantine times? If not then the Slavs arrived during the Byzantine times.
    6. Most people from the Balkans blame us Greeks, for not wanting our country to be associated with the Balkans at all.
And yet when a creator from the Balkans makes a video about the Balkans rarely includes us. I guess when you people talk about the Balkans you take more into consideration your shared culture (Slavs and communist past) and not the actual geography, which makes parts of Greece actually Balkan but anyway....

      1. The biggest war the Roman empire ever had was against Ilyrians in the Pannonian area. Pannonia is the home area of nealry every West slavic nation nowaydays.
      2. Todys new Haplogroups show that I2a Haplogroup is the oldest in Europe, wich is dominant among South Slavs and ancient Balkan people.
I2A Haplogroup originated some time around 26,000-31,000 BCE. It originated in Europe and developed into several main subgroups.
      4. The Macedonian king Alexander the Great was not understood by the Greeks when he shouted an order in his native tongue and the Greek commander Eumenes needed a translator to address the soldiers of the Macedonian phalanx. The Greek orators Thrasymachus of Chalcedon and Demosthenes of Athens called Macedonian kings like Archelaus and Philip II "barbarians", which prima facie means that they did not speak Greek. Herodotus also relates the incident of the participation of Alexander I of Macedon in the Olympic Games in 504 or 500 BC where the participation of the Macedonian king was contested by participants on the grounds that he was not Greek. Those are GREEK HISTORIANS writing about Alexanders Tribe.
      5. Ask any Russian, Ukraine, Polish, and other Slavs were they come from.... they will point to the Balkans, Pannonia or south to the Carpathians, thats how they learn history. It makes no sense that Slavs came from nowhere and all of a sudden within 50 years dominated the Balkans and nothing Ilyrian exists anymore, while Romans went with them to war for so long.
Why would Ilyrians 300BC call mountians by slavic Gods like Perun?
Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus is the most common source of the Slavic Invasion, but he was totally wrong translated, Revolt was translated as Invasion, thats why not even Vienna (the first ones to teach that) accepts the Invasion theory anymore becasue there are nearly no sources.
The name Ilyrian is just a Roman name like they gave to Germans, but Germans never called themselves Germans but Deutsche.
      6. Most Greeks act like Albanians when it comes to Slavic history in the Balkans, they say Slavs came in 7th century but cant name one source, wich means they only heard of something like that but never investigated on their own.
But todays haplogroup tests (google I2A) show that a lot history is falsificated like its always has been.

Also if you’re weak and get attacked then you are indeed a victim. The Balkans have been raped by outside powers for centuries, making them In fact a victim. Victim mentality is what we see now in the west, where people play the victim card for the smallest injustice even though they’ve profited from injustice for centuries

ARGEAD DYNASTY- This is testified by Herodotus, in The Histories, where he mentions that three brothers of the lineage of Temenus, Gauanes, Aeropus and Perdiccas, fled from Argos to the Illyrians and then to Upper Macedonia. Herodotus also relates the incident of the participation of Alexander I of Macedon in the Olympic Games in 504 or 500 BC where the participation of the Macedonian king was contested by participants on the grounds that he was not Greek. Explain me plaese why GREEK HISTORIANS say this. If you want i give you more that Alexanders tribe was considered not Greek before he was even born.

@@Svarog187 you do realise modern Greek identity did not exist during Alexander’s time? No one was considered “Greek” because Greece did not exist. They were nation states

I believe Bulgarian ethnicity is very well explained with the rule of the first Christian knyaz Boris Michael 1st. He found his self ruling a federation of many tribes of different religions and languages. They couldn't cooperate due to their differences so he united everybody under one language and one religion since then Bulgaria is a title of honor to the Bulgars that although a small tribe manged to organize everyone under one nation.

Let’s be honest the only people in all of Europe with even a trace of a claim on autochthony combined with ethnic distinctiveness are the Basques the rest of us are a bunch of mongrels with genetic and ethnic and cultural and linguistic inputs from any number of cultures and peoples who have trampled across the continent in the last few thousand years. The notion that genetics and ethnicity are somehow a claim on territory or of any sort of use to anyone except geneticists and those who study ancient history is absurd. We are all Europeans, and more importantly we’re all just humans.
