Selim gets such a bad reputation. It's likely that any Sultan during this time would have ended up with the empire the same way. The world changed too much. Wasn't going to stay the same.
Hatice was born depressed, melancholic and suicidal. Almost all her scenes show her as depressed. Infact others were also sad and grim but Hatice is the most negative. Even Ibrahim couldn't stand her negativity. No wonder Hurrem was called the pleasant one and loved by all. She brings so much of energy.
I think, now that she finally has everything she wanted, she’s afraid of losing it again like she did last time. Her first husband died two months into the marriage. Ibrahim is younger and healthier, yes, but she actually loves him him. So losing him will be harder than the last one.

For everyone confused on Mustapha being aged up it actually makes sense if you do the math. He was about 5-6 in the first episode, we can infer that’s Hurrem was in the palace for atleast 6 months before getting pregnant and then each pregnancy is 9 months long. So one can argue it’s been around 4 years ish. Mustapha being anywhere from 9-10 now makes sense.
Oh yeah right... Lol do your own maths... In episode 6 he was still a lil kid.. nd episode 17th didn't had anything like months ago or years ago... Both the episodes continued one to very next day... So how he grew up in two days... But he did not grew up in 16 episodes that is 5-6 years... He grew up in 2 days but not in 5-6 years... The problem is they changes mustafa in a day...without saying 2 years later or anything like that.. he grew up very next day of mehmet falling in the pool

Yes, he was heart broken, but he is risking the life of Hurrem. What does he thinks, Hurrem ask him to go away. She had new life now. She loves Leo but he is in the past.
What was he expecting? That Alexandra, after all those years, would be, every day, taking a chair to Istanbul's main square to sit down and wait for him to come and take her home and marry her?
@@Patruizis Exactly! That had to be almost 10 year's later. Did he actually expect Alexandra to be a free woman in the ancient world, with that type of beauty. She landed in luxury but she would be fine wherever she landed. She had to make the best of a bad situation and she did that and more.
In real life, the year for this episode is 1524. Selim was born to Hurrem during the wedding celebration in May, 1524. And remember Ibrahim did not marry Hatice, Suleyman’s sister. Suleyman arranged his marriage to the granddaughter, Muhsine Hatun, of Ibrahim’s first slave master, for political reasons. From what I’ve read, I think the real Hurrem was more like the character Gulfem, quieter but smiling and laughing more. In real life, Hurrem didn’t have the many enemies as in this show. Plus, the harem wasn’t in Topkapi Palace. It was in the Old Palace and ALL the harem women lived there at this point. The outing that the character Suleyman arranges for Hurrem and himself is plausible, especially since they lived in separate palaces over 2 miles apart. He may have done this fairly often so that he could get her away from the children and all to himself. He also went to the Old Palace to visit his mother, any sisters, Mahidevran and Mustafa, and Hurrem and her children. Hurrem and Ibrahim had never even met, and Hafsa Valide, Suleyman’s mother, was fair to Mahidevran and Hurrem equally. Leo, Sadika, Guinihal and many other characters are fictional and didn’t pose problems for Hurrem. She lived a quieter life as a favorite concubine and mother to Suleyman’s children. Hurrem was also still being educated in Turkish, Arabic, and geography, history and managing money in the Old Palace. She had a very busy routine, and Suleyman, her “beloved man” was her first priority because she loved him and he loved her. His early poems to her were especially passionate and sweet.

If you are in love , consider yourself left alone . If you are a Emperor , consider yourself a slave . My dear , the rose thinks it and your cheeks are alike... forgive it for these words. You , my fairy , consider me burning in flames for your love . You Muhibbi , if you are looking for a taste of her sweet lips , go for some sugar . Don't be proud of your prime , consider yourself a grain in the harvest. What a nice poem of Sultan Suleiman to hurrem ❤️
One of the interesting things about this empire was that a person of very low estate, birth etc., could by their skills, drive and wits, could climb the ladder as high as second place to the Sultan. Unlike European kingdoms that relied on birthright for positions of authority, the Ottomans relied on the merits of the individual. This brought a lot of talent into the kingdom from their neighbors. Example: Ibrahim. But this was very common in Ottoman society.
Low class Turks remained in the class they were born into their entire lives. Only the European slaves were allowed to rise. Not out of goodness and morality. It was eugenic. The Turks bought millions of European slaves from the Muslim Tatars. Turkish slave raiders went as far north as Finland Iceland and Green land to raid for European slaves. They preferred children. Partly because children, like calves are smaller and easier to transport. Out of a thousand slaves only a few rose to a middle class life and position. For every girl in the imperial harem or harem of a decent man, thousands died in nasty brothels. Or were worked to death. There were many black African women slaves. But no mulatto children. And no descendants of those black African women slaves. Because every black baby was either aborted or smothered at birth. Horrendous was captured by Tatars about age 8. She was sold to the harem at about 15. Imagine what her life was like the 7 years she was in the slave barracks. Not all Europeans stayed into the class in which they were born. Many low born nuns monks and priests rise by talent. From butcher’s son to Martin Luther. From small farmer’s son to bishop. The series is great. But remember the reality. For every Ibrahim and Hurrem there were millions s of kidnapped European slaves leading wretched lives.
@@ledatufarulo7316 I think she meant that her hair, makeup, and outfits were on point. Any period piece will have its inaccuracies. Just wondering how different things would have been if Mahidevran just accepted her fate and stopped taunting Hurrem. I think Hurrem was about to be civil towards her, with Mahi saving Mehmet, and the gift for Selim, but she was triggered when Mahi taunted her about Mustapha ascending the throne. Clearly she's not willing to make peace with Hurrem.
I think they’re lives would’ve been different. Everyone could’ve lived peacefully. Mustafa would’ve let his brothers live and govern the country with him. Hurrem and Mihrimah would’ve lived peacefully away from the palace and Mahidevran would’ve been Valide. But nope she was too spiteful and caused a train wreck
Hurrem was just as nasty to Mahi, at least in this series. Hurrem tried to poison Mustafa and eventually managed to have him killed with Rustem Pasha. They both manipulated the gullible Sulieman. Mustafa would have been magnificent. He had all the qualities and everyone loved him. Sulieman got jealous.
Seeing Ibrahim fumble over Hatice's buttons made me chuckle until I realized that technically, Ibrahim is more than likely a Virgin, but Hatice is not because she was married before. 😅😅
hurrem really really wanted peace and no fights, but they really pushed her to be whoever she became, that is why no matter what she do i still find her right and innocent. the poor girl had no support except the sultan’s and that too in bed only, while the rest of the day he would be busy, she is really strong and deserves nothing but the best.
Matrakci was an eminent person of Empire....he was a math..a philosoph and the sultan's lifestory teller....he always tells whom he is ...although he looks easygoing and a little vagabond....
Hurrem could be a lot to handle at time but she truly tried to make things work with Ibrahim and Mahidevran. They chose violence and she responded in kind. Also, it’s seems like no one can be happy for Hurrem and Suleiman when Mahidevran is around she brings a Grey cloud wherever she goes smh it’s kind of depressing.
It is just so impressive how Victoria is still so truly loyal to her king. She was just a lady in Hungarian loyal family. She had a rich and easy life before, then her husband was killed in a war, so she sneaked in the palace as a slave, to take her husband's revenge with knowing that she will be tortured and killed if she touches the king, because if you kill the king, they would rip you apart. Now she has been living in the palace for almost 2 years but she is still stick to her plan.
Yes... and Hurrem forgot about her revenge plan after falling in love with Suleiman; then focused it only on the royal family. Two woman with two different revenge paths...
@@velvetengel But it’s not same thing. Sultan and his soldiers killed Victoria’s husband themselves, so she can revenge directly on Suleyman. But Hürrem’s family died during a Tatar raid. It was also them who take Hürrem as a slave and sold to Crimeans. And crimeans send her to the Ottoman palace as a “gift”. So even though she kills Suleyman, this truly change anything.
I dont know why Matrcki allowed Ibraham to put Victoria in the harem in the first place . Did he want the possibility of Suleiman sleeping with her? He already liked her he should told ibraham that he would take of her & eventually marry her
You are right - but I think back then the law with single woman out of country coming in - may it was not possible for him to just marry her .. but it’s crazy how far she has come .. and soltan didn’t remember her ... even that hard was cut open by her .. ebrahim didn’t let him talk .. if ebrahim either could let her marry or .. find out who she is !!!!

@@tearmonster7726 no Hurrem was a virgin when she entered the Harem
It goes to his “little head”
It was really touching my heart and soul when Ibrahim Pasha hug his father and his twin brother😥😭😢
Only Ibrahim makes me cry a lot, especially when he go back to parga.. A really good actor😊

I believe that historically, Mahi always opposed Hurrem, what a pity!
Such jealousy killed any like I had for Mahidrevan! Ugh

Leo 🤧😢😭 that was torture to know the woman you love is with child and the father is the Sultan of the world.
I just discovered this show lately and it is my favourite!!
Love that he gave her parakeets (love birds) for their summer time in the tent.
I dont know why Matrcki allowed Ibraham to put Victoria in the harem in the first place . Did he want the possibility of Suleiman sleeping with her? He already liked her he should told ibraham that he would take of her & eventually marry her
He only wanted a safe place for her being a girl. Rest is storyline
