(**also want to note that I made this vid because of Sabrina, after the tweet-a-thon I knew you needed another fresh William vid- thankyou sweetie for all your support!!)
if u are of a tender-hearted constitution, u may want to skip this one-
I couldn't fault you, this whole topic breaks, squishes, lights on fire, and throws out a window my heart, but that never stopped me from vidding something ;)
its often said that the worst thing anyone can go through is the loss of a child, and then I think about poor Scully losing not just one, but two...something like that wld send any mere mortal straight to the crazy house...but it was my impression that the IWTB Scully seemed strangely disconnected and adrift in that entire movie, and that made a lot of sense to me in that light.
I think by the time of IWTB, William had replaced Samantha as the absent presence-- the unseen subject that the action revolves around. There were so many indirect references to William in that movie (how painful was it that we all knew that Scully knew PERFECTLY what its like to not want to put a child through hell in that scene with the mother of the sick boy) and by the end of the movie- that she decides to go ahead and treat that boy anyway to me was a very subtle statement on the fact that she had changed her mind about her decision to give William up-- it was all in the subtext with IWTB.....
I have done some 'William' vids before, so some of the scenes I have used before, but this is my imagining of Scully's psychic scars regarding this topic- a meditation on it.
I used a lot of windows/looking out windows scenes as a metaphor for being kind of trapped inside...also if u go back and rewatch XF, starting in about season 3, they start making some clear references to Scully, her faith, and what will become her larger role in the scheme of things....I included some of those, but there are enough for like two more vids at least...
I know some ppl don't like the William arc at all, but I appreciate that its so integrated in the series as a whole...almost like they had...*gasp*...PLANNED it that way!! However, if they don't do something to rectify this heartache for my girl Scully, words can't describe how pissed I'm gonna be!!! LOL!
one more thing- I had a couple sound issues so plz forgive me those- working with so much audio is a real nightmare!!

I always feel so bad for Scully. She has loved children but lost both of hers. Love the vid!!
Allison Peters he was given up for adoption. Scully didn't think she was capable of raising him while on the run.
Beautiful! There's no other word to describe this video. The scenes you compiled shows Scully's incredibly caring nature, especially towards children. It's heartbreaking, that she loves children so, yet the choices she makes to do what's right for them always comes with a painful price. It is tear-jerking, and the line "if you were a mother, you'd understand," was by far one of the most disturbing lines in IWTB. Thank you so much for this. :)
At the end of the video I just felt the need to let some tears go.
Scully's pain for the loss of her children is a huge part of the show. I can't explain how I felt looking at what she was facing. I was suffering with her!
Scully is strong, but she's human after all! Her weaker side is what makes her special. And that's what makes Gillian a great actress. Let's not forget it wouldn't have been the same without her!

I agree, the weight of that grief really hurt their relationship for many years. So heartbreaking how the series didnt give us that happy resolution either

This video is beautifully done! I absolutely love how you mirror Scully's words from Emily to William. Just breaks my heart what our dear Scully has survived. I agree that her seeming so disconnected in IWTB was due to her missing William. They need to make things right for her. She deserves it!
I will always love Mulder and Scully, and Scully is my hero!!
I was suppose to sleep, but this scenes I certanly won't. I always feel so bad and sad for Scully... A lot of bad things happened to her, and I always knew it. But watching all this things together in a video, makes me realize how much Scully's character was vulnerable and sensitive. And I didn't feel she was like this in the first episodes, because she always hides her feelings. Her character is so strong and she has so much willpower... Love her. And of course Gillian did an awesome work here.

I think this is touching. I remember when Scully gave William up that a literally dreamt of a movie where Mulder & Scully went in search of him. That would have been a great script. It's never too late! Thanks for the great vids. Don't stop!!

awww, I'm sorry for the tears! As you said, this heart-wrenching journey of Scully's is a central part of the XF, but its damn sad! I love and agree with all your comments-- that is exactly why I think many of us respond to Scully- the strength through her incredible humanity...its so tangible, and absolutely we can thank the amazing GA for giving us this!!!! I don't think anyone else could've pulled it off honestly. THANKYOU sweetie!!
And I can't even explain how heartbroken I was when Scully decided to give William up. Almost more heartbroken than with what happened with Emily, because it felt like it was her second chance at happiness, and then it was all taken away from her again. So cruel. I also thought that IWTB seemed to deal with her loss and how numb she was because of it, but then she seemed to find her strength to not completely give up in the end. I love it how you linked those moments with earlier stuff!
Wonderful, Snakey--you know I love the whole Scully as mother story arc, and I've always felt that Emily never got enough attention, that she was forgotten too quickly and replaced in our minds by William, so I'm glad you addressed Scully's feelings towards her as well. Beautiful imagery, as usual!
Amazing amazing job, dear! You always find the kind of music that suits the mood of each particular video, and then you find the perfect clips, and in this case, voice-overs (impressive job with editing those as well!!), to further strengthen that mood. It's amazing how you can sum up so much in just a few minutes. I loved these storylines, no matter how painful they were to watch. XF3 should deal with what happened to William, no question about it. I hope they've realised that.

Completely brilliant, Snakey! If the story would have continued between the time that the show ended and the 2nd movie began, I feel as though Scully's loss would've been a central theme. As I have said many times before, a mother doesn't just forget about her child. Scully's loss needed to be dignified, and your video attempts to do that. Wonderful work!

OMG! I've never seen a video to aproach this subject like this. I also thought that in IWTB Scully's scars hadn't cured yet, I could also feel her sadness and it was so heartbreaking when her patient's mom told her she couldn't know how she felt because she wasn't a mother!!! I wanted to yell at her... YOU LADY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS WOMAN HAS GONE THROUGH!!!! But that was me;) Thank you very much for this, as always! ERES LO MÁXIMO!!!!

This is gorgeous. It captures Scully's weaknesses and makes her seem so incredibly human , she is a strong person who just wanted a normal thing , like everybody else, you know how much I love william's arc but I think somehow I just wanted her to be Happy , now what I hope is to Have XF3 so we can finally see how the story ends !! love you sweety , you're the best

thankyou! The William arc was great in concept, but there were things that irked me 1. Mulder would never have left Scully & Will- don't buy that for a moment 2. I don't believe Scully would've given him up...

Heartbreaking :( Scully went through so much she didn't deserve; I can't stand to watch the episode "William." It didn't have to happen like that! Then again, I don't run the show, unfortunately. If I did, William would be safe with his mother and father, and we'd definitely be seeing XF3!

I wanted to reply to your comment because you said exactly how I feel about these videos too. Except I would say all kinds of things in Finnish instead of Italian. ;) But these videos are truly beautiful and unique, because not only do they always tell a little bit of that story that was happening in all those seasons of this series, but they also stand out as individual pieces of art. They really do keep the spirit of this series alive in a wonderful, gasp-worthy way.
I remember that girl broke my heart. Despite the fantastic nature of the events I think that was quite realistic. A lot of children come to this world only to feel pain then die. It's so cruel. 😢
